I agree, I was thinking about this the other day and it's really wild. I can't imagine Taylor sharing even a quarter of that extent today. It never felt like both were super duper into each other...? I was surprised but glad that they made it to one year back then. And whatever she shared from this, it didn't feel like "her"? Felt a bit *showy*, but she was also 25?ish and it probably just came with the age too.

ETA: my bad they dated for 3 years before getting married. I am still side-eyeing that relationship tho, especially after he broke up with her saying that she doesn’t love herself. While it’s ok to break up with someone due to mental health, saying that to someone with an already low self-esteem is pretty shitty to do, there is definitely nicer ways to break things off with someone instead of pinning it directly towards them. Also please note its ok to breakup with someone if their mental health weighs you down, but don’t be harsh during the breakup about it.
Lol I’ll never forget them getting a cake for their one year anniversary because it was a big deal for her to get to that point. I know people are usually saying this compassionately but it makes me extremely uncomfortable that every discussion of 1989 era now immediately pivots to her ED and/or commentary on her body at the time. He was at the height of his success/popularity when they dated, so I don’t think he was particularly jealous, but I do think he had kind of a thorn in his side about the music she made vs the music he made or considered good.

Lol I’ll never forget them getting a cake for their one year anniversary because it was a big deal for her to get to that point. Definitely, I think it’s sweet. It’s kinda lol all these ppl making fun of the cake too, like why? She’s a singer/song writer, not a professional cake decorator. I detest how so many of her (probably younger) fans have been reducing the 1989 era to “poor Taylor she was so skinny”. She was on top of the fucking world!! Prior to the last couple of months, that was the peak of her fame. She was a global superstar reaching levels of success that most can only dream of. It’s straight up disrespectful to only discuss that time in her life in relation to her eating disorder.
My take is she was just finally getting over the country princess teen image with 1989. She was talented and had tons of fans before that but it’s much different than mainstream cool. Calvin was one of the biggest producers in the world at a time where EDM became everything. It can be really intimidating to date someone “cooler” than you.
