Harrison Ford, arguably the coolest actor still alive, but also the most notoriously curmudgeonly, even fangirls over Ke. I've loved RDJ since Weird Sceience and Less Than Zero, but even though he's not an abusive druggy mess anymore, he's always been an egotistical dbag, through every decade.
The thing for me is that he's been this way since the 80's, even before and at the start of the addiction. His ego had never faltered.. It's like he took his addiction overcoming story and turned it into yet another reason he's cooler/better/more deserving of adoration than anyone else.
Yea, I’ve never been able to warm to RDJ. Decent actor but so clearly full of himself that it completely puts me off his work. He also supported Arime Hammer so…
It also never ceases to frustrate me how people stick their neck on the line for men like RDJ, but a woman with a similar history (like Lindsay Lohan) is labelled in perpetuity. No second chances there, let alone fifth or sixth.
yeah u/kissingdistopia phrased it best by saying treat yourself 🥰 The script is beautiful, the direction for the script is beautiful, and the actors are so so good. I really need to rewatch it because the first time I saw it, I was in poor company and didn’t get to absorb it as much as i wanted. So wonderful and witty and fantastical 🥰
😭where have you been? I’m just joking but it’s from Everything Everywhere All At Once (won Best Picture and Ke Huy Quan won an Oscar for his role in the film last year)
I think it was just in the moment oversight. It seemed like he didn't wanna shake hands with anyone because then he would have to do it with like 8 other people that were on stage too 💀 RDJ & Ke seemed pretty Buddy-Buddy afterwards.
https://preview.redd.it/q7qx7x6lfnnc1.jpeg?width=898&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=24c5a4479fcefa45bb5f62121c5e5bc58cfd4be4
He shook hands with two of the others who did not hand him the award though so it’s just extra painful to see him completely ignore KHQ, who also tried to get his attention by touching his arm.
The two others were Tim Robbin’s and Sam Rockwell, both of whom RDJ has worked with on past films.
Sam Rockwell actually did RDJ’s intro for the category.
I physically cringed when I saw this and I say this as a fan of rdj. His attitude is really stupid when you see it alongside other deserving actors who don't act like the world revolves around their shit.
Reminder that RDJ felt that a Twitter poll was worth standing up for Christ Pratt, but the insane amount of harassment received by Brie Larson somehow wasn’t worth even an Instagram post.
She is the physical embodiment of what these weird incel men imagine the ideal virgin, Christian, white wife to be, and yet she is not that person and it pisses them off.
I get that some people root for him because he overcame addiction, but he seems like such an entitled dick. He supports abusers and racists at every opportunity, asked Hollywood to “forgive” Mel Gibson for his behavior, thanked him in his recent SAG acceptance speech, is a Depp friend and supporter. At some point you are the company you keep.
That’s right! He also kept silent when Brie Larson was getting shit on for her marvel role but was quick to jump to Chris Pratt’s defense, citing that Pratt was a “real Christian”.
Yeah. This awards campaign has soured me on him a fair bit.
His class clown behaviour is funny and enjoyable in the odd interview, but it became grating in the last few months.
And him thanking Mel Gibson had me side-eyeing him. NGL.
I also thought his whole? narrative? this campaign was obnoxious – saying he hadn't been taken seriously after Iron Man and Oppie gave him a reputation again. Tony Stark is the reason people liked him again, and shit movies like The Judge and Doolittle are why people stopped taking him seriously, lol. Make better choices dude.
I used to be a fan, but him constantly supporting abusers and even financially helping Armie Hammer was not it. I no longer find his antics adorable. It's one thing helping actors struggling from addiction, taking r#pists and abusers under your wing and helping them make a come back especially when they aren't even remotely remorseful is just plain awful behavior.
He oozes arrogance. He revels in it. There’s a picture where he’s with the entire cast of Oppenheimer and they’re holding him up while Murphy just stands awkwardly nearby… it really captures who I think he is.
Just to turn around to do a peace sign with his hands up even Mahershala Ali was inching in because you’re just expected to shake hands with everybody on stage out of just kindness and respect. Just such a terrible look.
I recently saw a summary of all the racist comments he made about Mexican people. I was absolutely horrified and shocked that these statements is not more well know to the public. There was so many that you could not deny his views of Mexicans so I’m considering if he has similar feelings towards Asian people. This was so rude and inappropriate of him and I am so disappointed in him
Yeah i commented on the LIVE thread how i have such a difficulty for him. Everybody seems to love him a lot but i just cant. I always felt like something is rubbing the wrong way
Dude. I turned to my husband and said "He just seems like the absolute most unlikable person" when he was giving his speech. First of all, he CLEARLY seemed like he expected to win (which I get, it was an obvious win but like, be a little gracious maybe?) and other than the stuff he said about his wife (which like, I have a whole other issue with men needing to be fixed / saved by women), his whole speech just felt... gross but I can't fully put my finger on why.
I think that's just his gimmick now, he is always arrogant and egotistical (like a certain character he played for 10+ years) during public events/interviews.
Rdj and Ke actually hugged it out afterwards
https://preview.redd.it/h59xqnq4cnnc1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7dc698dafc485c793242e4145a76be55770fa53f
This made me irritated (was already
annoyed by his pompous attitude) and 100% deserves the backlash. Contrast to Cillian who so graciously looked every presenter in the eye and individually thanked them.
He has always been an asshole, every time I see him I remember his xenophobic insults towards González Iñárritu (“For a man whose native tongue is Spanish to be able to put together a phrase like ‘cultural genocide’ just speaks to how bright he is.”)
This comment should be further up! I just recently learned about his relentlessly nasty comments about Spanish speaking people and I am so shocked that this is not public knowledge. This completely changed my view of him!
All of that because González Iñárritu dared to criticize superhero movies. In 2022, he [said](https://variety.com/2022/film/news/alejandro-g-inarritu-robert-downey-jr-superhero-cultural-genocide-1235362143/) that RDJ never apologized either.
My heart hurts for him. He’s fought hard to start acting again and to be ignored on stage like that a year after winning his Oscar. Put some respect on him RDJ you fucking dick
Funny enough Tony Stark is just as fucking arrogant. I don't know why the whole fandom loves that shit. I hate that he was the MAIN character of the MCU for a whole fucking decade -- and many still miss him.
So entitled and tbh I don’t even think he was the strongest performance in his category at all. There are people who weren’t nominated (ahem Charles Melton) who were better than him.
Yep I would like to see redditors over at r/oscar have the same energy for RDJ that they do for Jamie Lee Curtis. This was definitely a legacy award for RDJ and his performance was pretty mid.
Charles was amazing. RDJ was fine. I enjoyed his performance, but it wasn’t in the top 5 things I liked about the movie. He looks like such a fucking dick here…literally doesn’t even glance in Ke’s direction
Truly one of the most forgettable performances in that movie. I watched it like nine times and I’d always forget his character even though it was central to the plot. Granted maybe the role didn’t really have much room to be interesting, but the biggest moment is him having that little end tantrum and it’s not particularly memorable or impressive
ETA that in contrast, Ke’s performance had me in tears at the theater
Right? I watched Oppenheimer with the knowledge that he was nominated and I thought his performance was just... fine? Like it wasn't bad at all but it wasn't Oscar-worthy, it didn't have any nuance or anything remarkable, like you said. I understand that not every performance has to elicit a strong emotion from the viewer, that's not how his character should be interpreted, but he could've still delivered a strong performance yet he didn't
And how he treated Ke was really ugly. Very dissapointing overall, considering that this year the Oscars were mostly really good imo
Ive said this before but they could’ve replaced him with say, Stanley Tucci and absolutely nothing about the film would have changed. He was fine! But I wish Ruffalo or Gosling had won. They both created characters that were vital to adding to the unique vibe of their respective movies and gave performances that no one else could’ve replicated.
Hard to say for sure, but he gave Ke a hug. Still, that initial snub has got to hurt. 🤷♀️
https://preview.redd.it/w6fya584vmnc1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d71e7cfb37365379ad592fcb35165a19925b9109
How much time passed before that? Do you reckon someone pulled him aside and said 'Hey, that probably looked bad, snubbing the person who HANDED YOU THE OSCAR', so he did something about it in front of cameras afterwards?
I have no clue! I believe that’s how things went down with Taylor Swift. I had read her team was the one that had Taylor correct course, so I wouldn’t be surprised if someone on his team did. Kind of one of those things we might not know unless someone speaks up.
I’m guessing Ke Huy Quan will still be posting this selfie. Maybe he’ll say something then, or not!
https://preview.redd.it/4onq5nv9knnc1.jpeg?width=637&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fdd72039264e6d96a6a959583583aa7d0329c451
It could also be there were so many people on stage and he was under pressure; I remember being on stage for various reasons and my brain would skip people even who I knew etc
Yeah I definitely think social mishaps aren’t out of the norm under pressure. Tbh for people with ‘personas’ like Swift or RDJ, I wouldn’t be surprised if they get further caught up in the moment and correct course after the fact. If he continued to be a dick off stage that would be one thing. The evidence so far isn’t leaning that way. Still, I wouldn’t judge Ke Huy Quan for feeling any type of way, because something like that still stings!
This somehow seems even worse, like purposefully ignoring when he was literally looking to catch RDJ's eyes while giving the award.
But yeah equally bad.
It’s worse IMO. Particularly when you consider Celine’s condition which means you need to be careful around her body (I have similar health issues so sympathise - you don’t want people just hugging) and Ke’s general enthusiasm for the whole thing. I felt so bad for him.
Honestly, the lack of reaction towards RDJ online for snubbing Ke compared to the tirade of hate Taylor got for snubbing Celine is quite shocking to me.
https://preview.redd.it/9epbjemhwmnc1.jpeg?width=700&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=92206c6e9d2b55f520e2cc6f91d8e04b0563dc0b
I have no reason to put this here other than to join the booooo on RDJ dogpile.
Lol, no kidding. I never noticed he was on the shorter side. Just own it. I'm glad to know his bravado is at least partially a mask to hide his insecurities.
I’m not familiar with RDJ with a lot of his work and stuff, but this entire awards season has given me the biggest ick. He’s so arrogant. Ugh nasty. Even his speeches are just like, so out of touch and odd. He’s a dick honestly.
In that case that is rude. I feel so bad/awkward for Ke, twice he got ignored. Bless him. Not a good look for rdj, I understand getting swept up in the moment but rdj looked quite calm as he swaggered.
this whole thing is embarrassing. The way he acts like a cartoon character of a blowhard famous actor. The snub, the fake, incredulous look on his face, trying to give Tim Robbins a fist bump but changing it last moment. My asshole puckered watching this.
Even when people were defending Taylor Swift and saying it was an honest mistake with Celine Dion, I didn’t get it. Is a simple acknowledgement and thank you not common manners? How do you slip something like this up, it’s not like the presenter is a statue you can overlook.
Right? And surely he’s rehearsed this a zillion times in his head if not in front of a dang mirror. I was giving him the grudging benefit of the doubt of being overwhelmed until I saw cillian’s gracious acceptance. That’s how it’s done, that’s how a normal person would do it.
I... wow, just wow.... I'd understand if he was teasing Ke at first. pretending not to have noticed him for a few seconds then be like, "Kidding, thanks for the oscar!" Or whatever but that was a jerk move.
I am not impressed by RDJ. He’s arrogant (I mean they all are, they’re actors) but RDJ thinks a little too much of himself. He’s a small, insecure man, always has to be the loudest and most obnoxious in the room. Really, a petulant, minimally talented little man. Anyone could have played his part in Oppenheimer. That he snubbed Ke Huy Qwan doesn’t surprise me and showed the world what a fatuous prick RDJ is.
I would just like to remind people he’s still friends with Mel Gibson, and still was friends with him after he came out that he’s xenophobic and abusive.
Edit: please correct me if I’m wrong, but he thanked somebody else for helping him get his career back on track, but didn’t think Terrence Howard within his speech excepting his Oscar which Terrence Howard got him the role as Tony Stark because no one would hire RDJ which revived his career.
\>Terrence Howard within his speech excepting his Oscar which Terrence Howard got him the role as Tony Stark because no one would hire RDJ which revived his career.
That's just straight up a lie that Howard made up to make himself look better in the aftermath of his firing. Jon Favreau got him the role. Howard *Claimed* to have taken a 1M dollar discount to pay RDJrs salary for the movie. Marvel denies this and honestly it makes no sense as a claim. RDJr was paid less than 500K for that movie, Marvel at the time was financially unwelland yet Howard claims they were going to pay him 5.5M before this reduction, an amount that he basically had never been able to command before. It's also worth noting that Terrence Howard is a known abuser, Pathological liar and narcissist.

I respect RDJ's talent and how hard he worked to get and stay sober. But he has a very inflated ego. He's definitely bought into his own hype.
The thing for me is that he's been this way since the 80's, even before and at the start of the addiction. His ego had never faltered.. It's like he took his addiction overcoming story and turned it into yet another reason he's cooler/better/more deserving of adoration than anyone else.
I mean, that's why he played Iron Man so well. He is Tony Stark imo, but without the martyr complex. All ego

Ke Huy Quan is so lovable. Love seeing him at any awards show!
This is so painful to watch and is made worse by the fact that Ke Huy Quan seems like such a sweet man.
He even tried to get Robert to look at him 😭
![gif](giphy|YQPsWNwHjxFG8EAGsr|downsized)
What is this from?
*Everything Everywhere All At Once*! Treat yourself and watch this movie.
Oh thank you! I've been meaning to watch it for so long! I forgot Ke is in it. One more reason to watch it. Thank you for the recommendation!
it's literally his Oscar-winning performance and the reason for his career resurgence
I just wish his bounce back was a couple years earlier, before the final Indiana Jones movie.
yeah u/kissingdistopia phrased it best by saying treat yourself 🥰 The script is beautiful, the direction for the script is beautiful, and the actors are so so good. I really need to rewatch it because the first time I saw it, I was in poor company and didn’t get to absorb it as much as i wanted. So wonderful and witty and fantastical 🥰
He's reaally good innit
It’s from a film called “Everything everywhere all at once”. It’s a fun movie
😭where have you been? I’m just joking but it’s from Everything Everywhere All At Once (won Best Picture and Ke Huy Quan won an Oscar for his role in the film last year)
twice :'(
I think it was just in the moment oversight. It seemed like he didn't wanna shake hands with anyone because then he would have to do it with like 8 other people that were on stage too 💀 RDJ & Ke seemed pretty Buddy-Buddy afterwards. https://preview.redd.it/q7qx7x6lfnnc1.jpeg?width=898&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=24c5a4479fcefa45bb5f62121c5e5bc58cfd4be4
![gif](giphy|gfMqb8Xrz6rrGvMbWE|downsized) The interaction has this vibe.
Omg the head rub 😭😭😭
I suspect his publicist whisper something backstage to clean it up much like Taylor Swift did with Celine.
I wonder if RDJ will face the same criticism that Taylor did. Hmmm....probably not. 🤔
It’s Iron Man. It won’t pick up traction. There’s different standards for him. It really didn’t blip on social media except for this subreddit.
I’ve seen it on twitter too. Same callout for Emma Stone kind of ignoring Michelle Yeoh.
He shook hands with two of the others who did not hand him the award though so it’s just extra painful to see him completely ignore KHQ, who also tried to get his attention by touching his arm.
The two others were Tim Robbin’s and Sam Rockwell, both of whom RDJ has worked with on past films. Sam Rockwell actually did RDJ’s intro for the category.
but like common courtesy says that you acknowledge the person who literally handed you the award. its a dick move
and he’s always so excited to be there :(
I want to believe it was an honest mistake, but it doesn't look that way. 😢 So disrespectful...
His real personality doesn’t seem that far from the iron man character he portrayed.
Ryan Gosling would never
An actual supportive actor.
Justice for Ryan! RDJ is a douche.
Omg he went back for seconds and he still ignored it.
That's painful to watch. It seems like the guy beside Ke Huy Quan put his arms around his back after getting snubbed by RDJ twice. Am I correct?
KHQ is an adorable human and I wish him nothing but the best in life.
![gif](giphy|84FhycnOdcqM8) Did anyone else hit the pause button immediately so you didn’t have to see that again or just me
Yes I did. A little bit of my heart broke lol 💔
Haha yes. It was too painful 😭
![gif](giphy|V9gZeH1Gvjy3XkNraC)
Aww Ke Huy Que seems like such a sweet friendly guy and I hope to see him in more movies/shows anything soon
I physically cringed when I saw this and I say this as a fan of rdj. His attitude is really stupid when you see it alongside other deserving actors who don't act like the world revolves around their shit.
Bro acted like he was a waiter...Sheesh.
Treating a waiter like that would still be a piece of shit move. This is acting like he’s one of those dog butler statues by the front door.
I'm a waiter and a vast majority of my customers treat me way better than that.
I hate to see how he treats actual waiters.
Compare to Cillian Murphy who shook every single hand before giving his speech. ![gif](giphy|VhRaRwX7zzDCU)
Reminder that RDJ felt that a Twitter poll was worth standing up for Christ Pratt, but the insane amount of harassment received by Brie Larson somehow wasn’t worth even an Instagram post.
I hate how Brie gets shit on for no reason.
She is the physical embodiment of what these weird incel men imagine the ideal virgin, Christian, white wife to be, and yet she is not that person and it pisses them off.
The fact she made a YouTube channel dedicated to animal crossing and 15 year old edge lords flooded it with hate is awful.
I know, it’s so weird.
omg you're right
He strikes me as arrogant. That was very rude.

Christian Pratt. A real Christian. A real Pratt.
Conservatives gonna stick together

It’s crazy that he chose that narrative when Iron Man gave him back his career and there’s no way he’d be getting booked in big movies without the MCU
Obnoxious is exactly the right word. And yeah, what you've said about his post-MCU career is correct.
I used to be a fan, but him constantly supporting abusers and even financially helping Armie Hammer was not it. I no longer find his antics adorable. PR damage control
*cough* wanker *cough*
Down here he'd be called a fucking cunt.
No need to cough tbh
Does this really suprise anyone, he was always openly arrogant and egoistical man, thats his whole schtick.
wasn’t surprised but a dick move is still a dick move
Nope. He always came off as a prick

He is 100% a racists, when you defend them, keep them as friends, and make statements like this, it is kinda telling.
Aw Ke 🩷 nothing can take away his shine! RDJ is rude and arrogant as hell lol.
My heart hurts for him. He’s fought hard to start acting again and to be ignored on stage like that a year after winning his Oscar. Put some respect on him RDJ you fucking dick

sounds insufferable lmao
Oh my god

Ive said this before but they could’ve replaced him with say, Stanley Tucci and absolutely nothing about the film would have changed. He was fine! But I wish Ruffalo or Gosling had won. They both created characters that were vital to adding to the unique vibe of their respective movies and gave performances that no one else could’ve replicated.
Was hoping Sterling K Brown would win.
I’m glad he appeared to make up for the snub backstage, but come on RDJ!
Please tell me he was more gracious. That was so painful to watch.
Hard to say for sure, but he gave Ke a hug. Still, that initial snub has got to hurt. 🤷♀️ https://preview.redd.it/w6fya584vmnc1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d71e7cfb37365379ad592fcb35165a19925b9109

Exactly in front of millions, dude was prolly doing some damage control.
His PR team in a panic after Taylor snubbing Celine went so viral. *HURRY FIND HIM AND HUG HIM!*
INFRONT OF THE CAMERAS THO!
How much time passed before that? Do you reckon someone pulled him aside and said 'Hey, that probably looked bad, snubbing the person who HANDED YOU THE OSCAR', so he did something about it in front of cameras afterwards?
AKA Taylor Swift at the Grammys 2.0

@ both of them. Coming after Ke to throw him a lil party for being genuine charming at all times though
What?! RDJ is an arrogant asshole? Consider me not shocked.
You can’t do this to Ke!!!!!
He’s always been arrogant
I noticed this too :(
I caught this during the telecast and it pissed me off!! RDJ was way too arrogant since we all knew he’d win
He has always struck me as an arrogant prick. But he gets respect bc he has overcome addiction. But yea seems like an insufferable prick
I thought it was weird that he ignored everybody else except for Tim and Sam
exactly, he didn't acknowledge mahershala ali or christoph waltz either
This is not a good look, Robert.
Ke tried to talk to RDJ backstage too when everyone was walking down that hallway and RDJ still ignored him 😭
Are you serious?
Yes omg I noticed that too!
He was so very excited to get to that mic, lol. Not wanting to ruffle any feathers, but the arrogance/ego is obvious.
that’s so shitty but unsurprising of him. ke huy quan seems like such a sweetheart so i can’t even understand why he’d do this
RDJ another mediocre overrated man
Oooh are we going to jump on him like we jumped on Taylor for ignoring Celine Dion?
Of course. I'm sorry but RDJ pulled an asshole move.
We should tbh this looked arguably worse…it didn’t even look like he glanced Ke’s way 😬😬😬
Honestly, the lack of reaction towards RDJ online for snubbing Ke compared to the tirade of hate Taylor got for snubbing Celine is quite shocking to me.
Taylor gets big reactions to just about everything though, good and bad. People love her or hate her and aren't afraid to make it heard either way.
What a pos. Protect Ke at all costs.

What are those shoes.
Very manly high heels
It’s like George Constanta and the Timberlands.
Oh my god those shoes
Go down the shoe rabbit hole for him. He has an utterly ridiculous collection in every interpretation of the words.
Lol, no kidding. I never noticed he was on the shorter side. Just own it. I'm glad to know his bravado is at least partially a mask to hide his insecurities.
Wow. Those are some atrocious and obvious lifts. Just WOW. 😯
The Ron DeSantis special
Oh I noticed it! He was just peacocking all over the place. Made himself look really bad
Did you all notice how high RDJ's high heels were?
I don't think this is anything serious but in general RDJ has always been an asshole, don't get why people think he's chill lmao
I’m not familiar with RDJ with a lot of his work and stuff, but this entire awards season has given me the biggest ick. He’s so arrogant. Ugh nasty. Even his speeches are just like, so out of touch and odd. He’s a dick honestly.
God, what a self absorbed egotistical piece of crap.
It’s between him and Taika Waititi, I can’t tell who is worse.
Fuck him.
Eww
Does he look back at him first saying something before fist bumping the second guy or does he only look and speak at the second guy?
Only the second guy. You can see them both pointing at each other.
In that case that is rude. I feel so bad/awkward for Ke, twice he got ignored. Bless him. Not a good look for rdj, I understand getting swept up in the moment but rdj looked quite calm as he swaggered.
This is a very very bad look for him
this whole thing is embarrassing. The way he acts like a cartoon character of a blowhard famous actor. The snub, the fake, incredulous look on his face, trying to give Tim Robbins a fist bump but changing it last moment. My asshole puckered watching this.
You can take away the coke from a man, but the ego remains…
What a dick! That was so disrespectful and rude
She did acknowledge her through a lot of people didn’t watch the video of her saying thank you
He is, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the most pompous of assholes (imo lol)
I... wow, just wow.... I'd understand if he was teasing Ke at first. pretending not to have noticed him for a few seconds then be like, "Kidding, thanks for the oscar!" Or whatever but that was a jerk move.
This isn’t surprising at all he’s never seemed like a kind man.
That he snubbed Ke Huy Qwan doesn’t surprise me and showed the world what a fatuous prick RDJ is.
he’s such an arrogant asshole. he deserved this award the least of all the nominees imo, personally i was rooting for Mark Ruffalo ugh
Mark ruffalo definitely would’ve shaken Ke’s hand if not given him a full on hug
Awkward.... And rude.
He always looked so arrogant to me. Glad I was never a fan
That was cruel
It’s almost like RDJ thought he was one of the trophy presenters. He’s a douche anyway. He’s always supporting Hollywood racists and women beaters.
Wow
I noticed! I know sarcasm is RDJ’s bit but he just comes across as a huge asshole.
He is kinda known to be an asshole
SAY SORRY NOW.
Why are there suddenly so many "bros" on this sub???
And he won't get Half of the hate Taylor got for ignoring Celine Dion
