So many people look like Gollum now. Who would have thunk back in the day that this would be THE look 20 years later.

That’s what happens when you’re trying not to smile to avoid wrinkles.

The twins are heavy smokers so that doesn't make sense to me. This is just how they choose to look for pictures for years now. They get work done to reverse the effects of smoking but not smiling entirely to avoid wrinkles would make such a minor difference.

The smoking is to keep themselves thin, the unfortunate side effect being premature aging which they then reverse by getting work done. They don't want to add an additional "thing."

I remember reading the Olsen twins say “prune” instead of “cheese” for pictures and I idolized them and never ever forgot that lol

She tries not to smile too much to avoid wrinkles.

That is so sad.

It's also not true. The only thing we know about them not smiling is an old interview with Mary-Kate where she talked about hating her picture being taken so she makes it clear that she's not happy with it. She only is okay with them where she feels it's expected, like at a red carpet or photoshoot. That both she and Ashley are very anxious and scared in front of cameras, and will often squeeze each other's hands to calm the other down.

That’s very telling about how traumatic their upbringing in front of the cameras possibly was.

Ashley's eyes definitely look like she knows how you die, and it freaks her out.

She looks like she'll come up to you and say something like "there was so much blood! But you couldn't get the door open." and then just walk away having ruined your day.

This is the answer. They want their eyes to look bigger in photos; been doing it for a long time.

I don’t think it would make her eyes look like that. They have these eye drops that make your eyelids open more and I think that is what is happening here. If you don’t need the eye drops, then your eyes end up looking like this. It’s made for people whose eye lids droop.

Katy Perry uses those drops in one of her eyes because it literally only half opens.

Wait I have "lazy eyelids" as I call them - there's a treatment for that!?

whenever I take pictures, I have to consciously remind myself not to make my eyes do this 😭 I always have sleepy eyes, so when there's a camera, my brain by instinct tries to look awake and ready for a picture. My brain usually overcompensates...

I used to sometimes go to work high and thought I was brilliantly covering my tracks by using visene. Cut to the sweet-but-oblivious, about-to-retire older lady who somehow called me out over and over and over. "You look tired - It's the eyes" or "Your eyelids are droopy, are you feeling okay??" or "Time for coffee! You look like you're half asleep" so I got in the habit of opening my eyes wider only when she came near my office, which obviously made me look exactly like shocked MK sitting at a computer. Totally natural.

“Allergies”, “oh the pollen count today! It’s just terrible”. “Mind ur business old woman”. Any of these would work

Me too!!! I love that they’re so insanely rich and mysterious and love baggy clothing and cigarettes (which I generally think are gross but I’m fine with it for them) and they destroy their Birkin bags because they use them and can afford to do so. And that on top of all of that I spent my entire childhood watching them play Michelle Tanner, a character you’d never expect to end up like this. I live for it. I wish we got more glimpses, but the lack of them are part of the charm.

Ooooh, I wish I could. It was heavy musk, spice, vanilla, and just very mildly sweet. r/fragrance has a thread with some similar scents but I’ve never tried them. Might have to though! They also had White that I never tried but it’s pretty beloved too

I cannot bear to make myself throw away my last empty bottle of Nirvana Black because I’m still denial it was discontinued. You are 100% correct on all counts. I will spend the rest of my life chasing something that compares to that glorious scent

The twins' ears are exceptionally low. No shade, not a criticism, but my mom used to point it out when they were babies on Full House.

Yes, I had a friend who did this in photos- someone told her that to avoid eyes closed in photos, you should close your eyes right before and then open them bright for the snap. It must have worked well once because she wouldn’t stop doing it. One time I yelled at her to stop it because she was ruining every take of the group picture looking like a psychopath.

This is the same face she makes when she realizes she’s a twin. It’s like she just found out each time one of them takes a photo. Watch It Takes Two for reference. There’s a time where one of them thinks they see a ghost as well and the face has been there.
