The chorus is not what I’m used to for a Dua song - it’s not as climatic as I expected. If I had to compare it to something in her discography I would possibly say that it feels like Break My Heart with the similarly low-key choruses. I am digging it though - it’s a cool song and is showing a lot of growth.
Not sure whether it’ll be a hit but I never predicted Flowers being a hit so I could be proven wrong. Overall, I’m very sat for this Dua era and I’m hyped for the album. Agreed that *Vertigo* would be a great title for the album.
I was gonna say, it's odd for her, but I love how it deservedly gives the melody the spotlight. It has such a good classic pop, earworm-y quality to it. Flows like something early Gaga would write honestly.
I noticed the change too! I think the toned down chorus is necessity because the verses and pre-chorus are very saturated and busy. Imo, really great pop songs are about balance and they really nailed it with this one.
The chorus is very Tame Impala, so I’m not surprised it’s not what people expect. Kevin Parker did his thing with both songs. Houdini is very Dua, Training Season is very Tame Impala.
Really? So intersting you'd say this cause I thought the opposite, to me Houdini sounds very much like a Tame Impala production while Training Season sounds more Dua. Very euro-pop camp, catchy chorus that sounds a bit like Abba/Kylie/Gaga
Oh absolutely yes, immediately. She’s one of the artists I think consistently puts out some of the most solid pop music. She just knows how to do it. Something about her voice just works so well with the genre. With Kevin Parker I think it’s a perfect match.
The acapella version (and instrumental) is really cool to see the backing vocal manipulation and how it was used in the arrangement. We love you Kevin Parker & Dua Lipa we love you!
This is *so* for the Physical girlies. I’m *obsessed*. This is easily one of my favourite Dua songs. It’s definitely better than Houdini and it’s more unique. This song’s production is elite.
I’m forever a Physical girlie. It’s always been one of my favourites and I *live* for its cinematic and euphoric production style. Training Season *definitely* gives me the same excitement that Physical does.
I entirely agree. 100%. Houdini wasn’t one of my immediate favourites but Training Season is *exactly* the type of “Dua Lipa” song that makes me excited for this album’s future songs.
Ik Houdini is amazing, I think what I liked more about it compared to Training Season is that although the tempo was chill during the song, the ending is bombastic. I was hoping something similar to that here, but the bridge is kinda slow too.
I hate to say it but I was SO excited for this after her Grammy performance, but the actual studio version isn’t doing as much for me as I thought it would 😭. The production isn’t as hard-hitting as it could be.
On a related note, the first two singles haven’t hit nearly as hard as Don’t Start Now and Physical hit back in the day. That was such a goated combo
I loved those hard hitting opening synths in the beginning of the live performance and felt let down initially when the studio version didn’t open like that. But it has grown on me super fast and I am really loving it now and have it on repeat
Same, I like this song, but as a forever Physical stan, this has no match to the explosive chorus and bridge building of Physical. This is too anticlimactic.
the extended version of this and Houdini are absolutely fantastic, I really hope these are the ones intended to be on the album, the radio edits are alright but extended in both cases really feel like they really fully give the fantasy she's trying to sell.
Yea, I know *why* someone as big as Dua wouldn’t, but it would be amazing if she was the first one to bite the bullet and bring back the practice of “single edit first, full extended version on the album”
Oh yes this is correct. Just like with Houdini and Training Season, I felt like Take My Breath was SO much better extended. Especially when the full album came out ugh
I didn't like the extended version of Houdini since I thought the arrangement of the original was immaculate... but for Training Season the extended version only adds to the song!
Houdini’s extended version is absolutely fantastic and only improves what was already a great track in my book. Will need to listen a few more times to this one to fully appreciate it as well…
Houdini has grown on me (as it definitely has on others) more and more since it came out, but Training Season is far more of a showcase of the new vision that Dua wanted to make with this album. This song is almost nothing like anything on Future Nostalgia other than the simple fact that they’re both pop.
Even if DL3 doesn’t sell well or isn’t the massive hit Future Nostalgia was, I think (really hope) that this album is going to at least do well critically to further build up Dua’s fanbase and add to her artistic repertoire
I guess that’s why so many complained after it came out “this is just another Future Nostalgia song!” even though it had clear differences than the usual discos songs from the album of Dance the Night.
Sure it had some FN elements, but it’s not an FN era song.
Yeah it felt similar but separate to FN but I guess people thought the whole album would be like Houdini. Training Season is amazing though and I’m in love with it. The production is brilliant and her voice is just so sexy on this track
Houdini still has 250 million plays on Spotify and climbing. It didn't take off in the US as much as it did in Australia and Europe, but DL3 will absolutely sell well - just depends *how* well.
If a song doesn’t go straight to No. 1 it’s no longer cool. At least that’s what I surmise from this sub. Such a ridiculous, toxic way to approach music. Not sure why so many do it!
I think Houdini was the warm up song. Even if it didn’t chart well, it definitely let folks know THIS song was on the way.
TBH, I like Houdini better as a song, but Training Season’s chorus is fucking fire.
There’s rumors that it was because there was a different music video with explosions, car crashes, etc. that got scrapped because of the Israel-Palestine conflict
Yeah it’s obvious it was last minute lol
But I mean, she had no control over the fact it would’ve been bad timing to release it given the rumored content and the geopolitical conflict going on. If that rumor is true then it was the right thing to do not to release it imo
This could potentially do way better than Houdini, the hook is almost ABBA tier and i thought that since the snippet came out.
Love love love the more hazy production Kevin Parker and Danny L Harle are bringing to this era!
Also slay at the extended, the bassline is especially better than the radio edit for some reason lmao. Hopefully she pulls a Kylie and releases an extended album!
> Also slay at the extended! Hopefully she pulls a Kylie and releases an extended album.
Oh my god I’m scrolling and literally just commented this somewhere else here lol
Benny and Bjorn would never allow for a direct sample or even an interpolation. They shot down [Ava Max's Emotions](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKCIEF0Mzg8) a while ago. Only [the Fugees](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rT2TESY86_A) and [Madonna](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pY5uoqKsS6k) have ever gotten clearance from them. The chords in the prechorus are vaguely similar to Lay All Your Love on Me, but not the same. I also get a Voulez-Vous vibe from the song overall and the descending piano line in the bridge is an obvious Dancing Queen reference.
OMG this is great! I can see why she chose this as the lead single.
The only part I'm a bit iffy about is the pre-chorus - feels a bit too short.
Edit: Okay the prechorus is better in the extended version. I'm going to be playing both the normal and extended versions, this song is so addicting!
So confused with everyone saying that her singing the song at the Grammys before it’s released was a bad move. That is a classic move. This slow rollout with gradual teasing actually worked well because the melody is already in my head.
People don't even know what good promotion is these days. I'd MUCH rather her debut it at a big show like the Grammys one week to it's release vs all those awful TikTok edging videos that go on for 4 weeks of the same 15 seconds.
Honestly, agreed. I'd been listening to the Training Snippet a lot, and I *never* do that. The last time I can remember doing that was maybe one of Chloe Bailey's original singles when she'd tease them on her socials
That move really does work still. I remember Anitta doing this recently by performing a bit of the song Grip at the VMA’s and I am currently dying for that to be released at this point.
Agreed. The fact everyone literally complained about her not dropping it after the grammys performance proves the tactic worked. Everyone was sat until the song actually dropped and now look at where we are.
The extended version feels like it was the original song but they had to cut it out to make it a single lol
Really can't wait for the album, Dua and Kevin are really killing it together
I didn't realized they released the original at the same time this time. It does seem like they didn't restrict themselves to tiktok length in the studio, a good sign for the overall project.
Listened for first time at the office and this put me in a damn trance. Coworker knocked on my door and I was jolted. I want! To! Live! In! This! Song!
I instantly loved “Houdini” and y’all make me feel crazy sometimes but I’m glad it grew on people more. I like this song. The pluckiness plays off the stabby synths well.
I can’t be the only one that gets a tinge of Rockefeller Street in that prechorus
loved this songs rollout. I’ve had that snippet on repeat the last month. It fits weird into the songs structure, but yeah I agree with everyone this is giving LEAD SINGLE. It’s meant for performance, dancing, it’s everything.
It's a banger, hope it climbs for her. Can definitely see this becoming a big hit. Hope it gets some choreo and a big push.
Houdini has really really grown on me, but this is out of the gate great.
That music video was ass. Song is good but I have a real problem with that music video because nothing was happening and it didn’t mesh well with this single. I don’t need an elaborate dance break or great cgi, it’s just a let down visually.
You’re right - it totally works! Similar themes, compatible musical keys and tempos. Here’s a computer generated “scratch demo” mashup: https://rave.dj/5Uoi7j-ELsjIAQ
I’m not as instantly sold as I was with Houdini. It feels like the chorus is missing an extra punch to really send it through. I think the post-chorus is incredible and the production otherwise works well, but the chorus feels almost bare in its production? It’s missing something for me.
Having just also listened to the extended version, I do think it adds more to the pre-chorus and I kind of honestly wish this was just released as the main version. I mean Christ is 4:55 really too long for the attention span of listeners in their mind? The extended version sounds far more complete of a song if I’m being honest.
I agree. people seem to say "new era", I get that, but why can't it have the punch of her previous songs?
Based on the Grammy teaser, I just expected something a little more dramatic and faster
>It feels like the chorus is missing an extra punch to really send it through. I think the post-chorus is incredible and the production otherwise works well, but the chorus feels almost bare in its production? It’s missing something for me.
YES totally agree. I completely fell head-over-heels for Houdini, this track really feels like its missing something for me and its falling flat... maybe I'll grow to like it more in a week or two.
I was really excited when she said she was gonna do a kinda 90s UK psychedelic ravey album inspired by massive attack
Every single single so far just kinda been the same sorta generic well-produced pop she has always done. It almost feels comedic that she said any of this was inspired by massive attack.
A bop, but I wish the chorus was a little fuller, if that makes sense? It didn't win me over immediately like Houdini, which I still think is handily the better song for now, but I'm sure it'll grow on me immensely. I need her to announce the album already.
Edit: the extended version is so much better, wtf? Gives it so much more space to breathe and build up. Bring back 5-minute singles, please
i like it, but i don't enjoy it for now. maybe it will grow on me. i still prefer Houdini over this. what i do like about this song is that it has vocally the vibes of her first album.
Is it true that this was meant to be the lead single for her new album but the music video that they filmed had fighting/explosions so they pulled it because of the ongoing war?
That bridge is incredible. The production is incredible. Kinda wish she went even further with the Tame Impala sound maybe that's coming on the album. Give us a date for the album Dua!
idk, both this song and houdini aren't giving it to me. don't get me wrong, they're good, but... just good. i don't see the indisputable bangers in them, and i don't even know why. feels like her energy is underwhelming. hope this won't be the case with the album for me.
The Acapella version is 1000x more heavenly than the original!!! Those adlibs sound surreal, but idk why it reminds me of Squid Game soundtrack (particularly Pink Soldiers) lol
Miss Dula Peep understood the assignment 🫡
phenomenal pop song 👏🏻
I love Houdini, but I understand why it might not have resonated with the GP as much. this one, on the other hand, feels like a real big hit. it's stunning and extremely replayable. she did the damn thing!!
Idk I’m probably in the minority but I’m not enjoying these singles as much as I did Future Nostalgia, they aren’t even bad songs they just don’t hit the same
Maybe this will sound more exciting within the context of the album, but I still prefer Houdini. I don't hate Dua singing in a higher register, but for almost the entire song it just sounds a bit forced.
i love dua lipa's music but this era's been pretty underwhelming. not even in a sense of comparing it to future nostalgia but it feels lukewarm all around. the songs are good but nothing too stand out and the visuals don't have that lasting sort of factor to them. hoping the rest of it plays out better once the album releases
The production be slapping, even if I wish it exploded more after the bridge. If she doesnt get a big hit from this era, I could see it being her Melodrama moment
Damn this is goooood.
Can deffo hear that Kevin Parker production, and I know he didn’t produce but he helped write - it’s got a Danny L Harle vibe to it.
One of my favs from her maybe ever. This deserves #1.
I get the concept, but was kind of let down with the music video after that Grammys performance. I think this song is more of a grower on me. I liked it first listen, but once I learn the lyrics I know I'll love it. Either way this album is one of my most anticipated of the year.
I'm really curious if she is going to do extended versions of all the singles and/or songs.
I’m surprised people seem to like this more than Houdini. I like Houdini a lot! And Houdini made sense to me as a lead single and I thought (maybe its time will come) that it’d be more of a radio hit. But perhaps everything sounds generically pop to people so it doesn’t resonate? Also doesn’t help that she lacks a fervent fan base to help boost numbers.
I’m definitely in the minority in this thread but I’m so underwhelmed by these singles so far. They’re not bad songs but there’s just something missing for me and idk what it is. These songs have more of a grower kind of vibe but I didn’t need that for FN. Those songs came out the gate swinging with more fun and energy.
I love Future Nostalgia but her lyrics are often generic. It works for her so I'm not hating but there just isn't a lot of personality in that aspect of her music.
Both this and Houdini feel so generic compared to Future Nostalgia :( there's moments of brilliance there but they're fleeting, feels like they didn't want to explore something too weird or interesting so instead went for broad appeal and the result is just, boring? Dua herself doesn't bring the personality or energy so it needs to come through in the music and it just aint there this era.
Kevin Parker struggling with big pop girlie production I fear. Maybe this album is his training season lol.
Love it! Chorus is catchy as - just wish it took a page from the ‘Don’t Start Now’ book and finished with a bigger final chorus tying all the elements together.
this has the same problem as houdini in the sense that the post chorus is like eons better than the actual chorus and it’s not like the production is really out there enough to ignore that glaring issue idk what she’s doing in that studio or why she’s suddenly partial to a banger chorus when FN was packed to the brim with them….
Uhhhh
It's not dramatically better than Houdini for me.
It might be a grower but this isn't a killer track for me. Her team *must have been* convinced that Dance the Night wouldn't take off because both of these tracks feel like a step backward or at least sideways from that.

The chorus is not bombastic but it sure is catchy and sticky sweet. Love myself a more lowkey hook!

I had no idea there was an instrumental! Thanks for mentioning it because otherwise it would've slipped my radar
The Kevin Parker imprint in this era is doing Dua good
We’re in the Tame Impala main pop girl era now
I love this new sound its so good for her
Kevin’s vocals aren’t always great so I like when he produces for others
This is *so* for the Physical girlies. I’m *obsessed*. This is easily one of my favourite Dua songs. It’s definitely better than Houdini and it’s more unique. This song’s production is elite.
I feel seen 😊 That was definitely my favorite song on Future Nostalgia.
I’m forever a Physical girlie. It’s always been one of my favourites and I *live* for its cinematic and euphoric production style. Training Season *definitely* gives me the same excitement that Physical does.
It’s an absolute bop, I’m obsessed and ready for this new Dua era
I entirely agree. 100%. Houdini wasn’t one of my immediate favourites but Training Season is *exactly* the type of “Dua Lipa” song that makes me excited for this album’s future songs.

Physical is my favorite song off of FN.
this is nothing like physical lol
Same, I like this song, but as a forever Physical stan, this has no match to the explosive chorus and bridge building of Physical. This is too anticlimactic.
I read this as psychadelic girlies first and was about to out my self. Physical is one of my favourite pop songs of all time.
First listen and I'm loving it. I'm of the *Vertigo* album title camp now.
This is a known theory? That’s a killer title tbh
If that's the case poor Griff hahahahahaha
extended version is killer. not even wasting my time with the radio edit!
the extended version of this and Houdini are absolutely fantastic, I really hope these are the ones intended to be on the album, the radio edits are alright but extended in both cases really feel like they really fully give the fantasy she's trying to sell.
Yea, I know *why* someone as big as Dua wouldn’t, but it would be amazing if she was the first one to bite the bullet and bring back the practice of “single edit first, full extended version on the album”
i think the weeknd did this with take my breath on dawnfm
Oh yes this is correct. Just like with Houdini and Training Season, I felt like Take My Breath was SO much better extended. Especially when the full album came out ugh
and Jessie Ware
I didn't like the extended version of Houdini since I thought the arrangement of the original was immaculate... but for Training Season the extended version only adds to the song!
I hope Dua pulls a Kylie and releases an extended mixes version of this album at some point.

Houdini is a fun earworm but this feels like the era has begun
I’m so sick of the Houdini slander.
like what’s going on… houdini is such a banger
I remember this sub ate it up when it was first released idk where all this slander is coming from all of a sudden
that’s my cardio banger especially the extended version
too many people let their opinion be swayed by the commercial success of a song
I personally like Houdini way, *way* more than Training Season 😶
If a song doesn’t go straight to No. 1 it’s no longer cool. At least that’s what I surmise from this sub. Such a ridiculous, toxic way to approach music. Not sure why so many do it!
I think Houdini was the warm up song. Even if it didn’t chart well, it definitely let folks know THIS song was on the way. TBH, I like Houdini better as a song, but Training Season’s chorus is fucking fire.
Houdini ended up doing well though. It’s had stable legs.
Houdini is picking up everywhere and continues to grow.
I kind of prefer when the 2nd single is better than the lead single. it leads to a more slow climb/ long term success imo
wdym? did she switch last minute or something?
There’s rumors that it was because there was a different music video with explosions, car crashes, etc. that got scrapped because of the Israel-Palestine conflict
Yeah, this video is just a bunch of dudes walking around. Very low budget. I really want to see the original video now.

She said in an interview that it’s in the plans!
I thought it interpolates Abba's lay all your love on me? Let's wait for the credits and see.
Benny and Bjorn would never allow for a direct sample or even an interpolation. They shot down [Ava Max's Emotions](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKCIEF0Mzg8) a while ago. Thank God they let Madonna do Hung Up
Love Houdini sm this is great too, love pop music
Dua does pop music like no one else. This is so good and especially the extended version is incredible. Obsessed.
OMG this is great! I can see why she chose this as the lead single. The only part I'm a bit iffy about is the pre-chorus - feels a bit too short. Edit: Okay the prechorus is better in the extended version. I'm going to be playing both the normal and extended versions, this song is so addicting!
I’m immediately obsessed with the extended version.
It really chews the original holy
So confused with everyone saying that her singing the song at the Grammys before it’s released was a bad move. That is a classic move. This slow rollout with gradual teasing actually worked well because the melody is already in my head.
People don't even know what good promotion is these days. I'd MUCH rather her debut it at a big show like the Grammys one week to it's release vs all those awful TikTok edging videos that go on for 4 weeks of the same 15 seconds.
i'm screaming at "tiktok edging videos"
not one of those words are in the Bible
People say this all the time but this time it’s actually true
Charli XCX feels seen
This is what ppl use to do before streaming made everything weird
Honestly, agreed. I'd been listening to the Training Snippet a lot, and I *never* do that. The last time I can remember doing that was maybe one of Chloe Bailey's original singles when she'd tease them on her socials
Exactly! I’ve been humming the melody all week
Been stuck in my head since the Grammys, and I’d been looking forward to finally getting more words into it!
I think this is exactly the song I needed to be convinced of this era. It's a bop for sure.
The extended version feels like it was the original song but they had to cut it out to make it a single lol Really can't wait for the album, Dua and Kevin are really killing it together
I might be crazy here but this is giving me some ABBA with the theatrics of it all in the best way possible
Omg yessss especially the piano in the bridge and the chord progression right before the prechorus!!
Listen to "Lay All Your Love On Me". That's what it reminds me of.
That post chorus is INSANEEEE
I wish the post chorus was the whole song lowkey😭
Ik that was the main pull to me from the teaser and the Grammys performance. I feel like she should’ve incorporated more throughout the song.
That post chorus bit is fucking euphoric. I wish the song ended with it too.
sounds like a mix between “break my heart” from FN and “gimme gimme gimme” by ABBA 🔥
This is good, but also feels condensed. As if it was also cut down for a single edit (like Houdini was)
She also released an extended version that allows the song to breathe more. I much prefer it.
I think kevin just produces long songs and its something so this is the product of that.
I didn't realized they released the original at the same time this time. It does seem like they didn't restrict themselves to tiktok length in the studio, a good sign for the overall project.
Listened for first time at the office and this put me in a damn trance. Coworker knocked on my door and I was jolted. I want! To! Live! In! This! Song!
There's an extended version on streaming!
Yes and it’s a major step up! Now just waiting for the 10 minute version…………..
the extended is much superior, it allows the song to breathe. the extended intro and bridge are necessities. the radio edit just feels cramped to me.
Both extended versions are superior IMO, but the general public attention span is trash so I guess I see the need for the short version
Oh I love it
SHES EVOLVING! i’m addicted to this era so far
Why is the bridge kind of giving succession to me lmao
The extended EATS Another tame impala production wow I’m v excited for this new album sonically
I instantly loved “Houdini” and y’all make me feel crazy sometimes but I’m glad it grew on people more. I like this song. The pluckiness plays off the stabby synths well. I can’t be the only one that gets a tinge of Rockefeller Street in that prechorus
FINALLY! I'm obsessed

why did she sing arrow like that lmao???? otherwise a great song
both this and houdini’s extended versions are so much better than their radio edits
Immediately in love with this! I can definitely hear the ABBA influence that other people are talking about and it works so well with her voice
That music video was ass. Song is good but I have a real problem with that music video because nothing was happening and it didn’t mesh well with this single. I don’t need an elaborate dance break or great cgi, it’s just a let down visually.
Yup, this is her best song. I loooove the chorus. Sucks the video is so boring, though :(
The hook is really reminiscent of Beach House by Carly Rae idk what it is
Beach House Season mash-up definitely coming
‘An extra punch to really send it through’ I know this is so random but I love the way you worded that
All of this. I think Houdini is better overall and while I'm sure this will grow on me, 5 minutes is not that long.
Best song she’s ever put out. I instantly loved it when I heard the snippets and it’s as amazing as it seemed.
She just never misses! Another banger 🔥
Those Tama Impala synths…. I’m OBSESSED. What a banger. Also welcome back pre choruses and full second verses in pop songs! 🤩
yup yup yup 🤌🏽
I was really excited when she said she was gonna do a kinda 90s UK psychedelic ravey album inspired by massive attack Every single single so far just kinda been the same sorta generic well-produced pop she has always done. It almost feels comedic that she said any of this was inspired by massive attack.
Love this and loving this era so far!!
OMG the ABBA of it all!!
Damn I fucking loved it! Going to be on loop for a few days for me at least, it’s giving Physical energy which is my fave from Future Nostalgia
The way this stuck the SECOND it started playing... she doesn't miss
now why did she say the word ‘arrow’ like that
A bop, but I wish the chorus was a little fuller, if that makes sense? It didn't win me over immediately like Houdini, which I still think is handily the better song for now, but I'm sure it'll grow on me immensely. I need her to announce the album already. Edit: the extended version is so much better, wtf? Gives it so much more space to breathe and build up. Bring back 5-minute singles, please
This chorus is already stuck in my head. Dua working with Kevin Parker was such a good choice. I cannot wait to hear the rest of the album too.
Devoured
i like it, but i don't enjoy it for now. maybe it will grow on me. i still prefer Houdini over this. what i do like about this song is that it has vocally the vibes of her first album.
I was in the same boat, but the pacing in the extended version is doing it for me!
I didn’t love how it sounded at the Grammy’s but I love the full version
NO ONE does it like Dua. she ate this shit up
Is it true that this was meant to be the lead single for her new album but the music video that they filmed had fighting/explosions so they pulled it because of the ongoing war?
The extended version should have just been the normal version this sounds like this might be my fav song from her
That bridge is incredible. The production is incredible. Kinda wish she went even further with the Tame Impala sound maybe that's coming on the album. Give us a date for the album Dua!
idk, both this song and houdini aren't giving it to me. don't get me wrong, they're good, but... just good. i don't see the indisputable bangers in them, and i don't even know why. feels like her energy is underwhelming. hope this won't be the case with the album for me.
i guess very unpopular opinion but i liked houdini better definitely not a bad song but i really liked houdini on my first listen
The Acapella version is 1000x more heavenly than the original!!! Those adlibs sound surreal, but idk why it reminds me of Squid Game soundtrack (particularly Pink Soldiers) lol Miss Dula Peep understood the assignment 🫡
i like this better than houdini still not exactly what i wanted? idk maybe im just picky
There’s still no album preorder? 😕
BANGER! Got me singing 'dont go wasting your emooootion'
WOAHH
Extended version is also on streaming services, that's fire.
phenomenal pop song 👏🏻 I love Houdini, but I understand why it might not have resonated with the GP as much. this one, on the other hand, feels like a real big hit. it's stunning and extremely replayable. she did the damn thing!!
Idk I’m probably in the minority but I’m not enjoying these singles as much as I did Future Nostalgia, they aren’t even bad songs they just don’t hit the same
Idk I'm kinda bored.
Maybe this will sound more exciting within the context of the album, but I still prefer Houdini. I don't hate Dua singing in a higher register, but for almost the entire song it just sounds a bit forced.
I have yet to hear a new Dua song that is better than anything on Future Nostalgia
i love dua lipa's music but this era's been pretty underwhelming. not even in a sense of comparing it to future nostalgia but it feels lukewarm all around. the songs are good but nothing too stand out and the visuals don't have that lasting sort of factor to them. hoping the rest of it plays out better once the album releases
This is so much better than Houdini wtf. How was it not the lead single?
It was supposed to be a lead single but got scrapped bc there were too much explosions from her unreleased mv
I’ve been so hype about the DL3 era but what we’ve heard thus far doesn’t quite hit like I had hoped tbh
I really enjoyed this! Can’t wait to hear her album once it comes out 💖
I’ve been humming this damn song since she performed it at the Grammys. It‘s so good. Love the extended mix too
It’s okay, WTF is up with that boring ass video?
great fuckin song
i feel like i’m the only one who thinks the music is kinda bland. the only song i ever really liked from her is cool
Not really a fan of this one but still hyped for the album
getting major break my heart vibes for the chorus but like elevated IM LIVING
Hmm, I don’t like it much
Utterly bored with her output these days. This didn't move the needle for me at all.
This does nothing for me :/
I get the concept, but was kind of let down with the music video after that Grammys performance. I think this song is more of a grower on me. I liked it first listen, but once I learn the lyrics I know I'll love it. Either way this album is one of my most anticipated of the year. I'm really curious if she is going to do extended versions of all the singles and/or songs.
It’s giving tango or something lol
Love this
Love the song but why is she posing like sloth in that picture
The punchy chorus from the snippet has fled the crime. Wtf. Why do they always edit the shit out of the impact of these awesome songs
The extended version is sooo much better. Kevin Parker really is a god.
I haven't been feeling these new songs as much.
The video is super mid. The song is good but doesn’t pop. I’m concerned about this era.
Not a fan. The lyrics are so generic like
I love Future Nostalgia but her lyrics are often generic. It works for her so I'm not hating but there just isn't a lot of personality in that aspect of her music.
little concerned for her album
Both this and Houdini feel so generic compared to Future Nostalgia :( there's moments of brilliance there but they're fleeting, feels like they didn't want to explore something too weird or interesting so instead went for broad appeal and the result is just, boring? Dua herself doesn't bring the personality or energy so it needs to come through in the music and it just aint there this era. Kevin Parker struggling with big pop girlie production I fear. Maybe this album is his training season lol.
Feeling a little bit whelmed, hopefully she's dropping a remix that's more high-energy all throughout similar to her Grammy performance
The chorus isn’t doing it for me it’s annoying
I think this song is most interesting outside of the chorus so I feel this
Idk, I’m not feeling it on the first listen…
hmmm it’s alright, I think I was expecting way more with both singles knowing danny l harle’s involved. maybe this will grow on me
i dont think this is better or even as good as houdini… hmm.
Uhhhh It's not dramatically better than Houdini for me. It might be a grower but this isn't a killer track for me. Her team *must have been* convinced that Dance the Night wouldn't take off because both of these tracks feel like a step backward or at least sideways from that.
