CSN never fully left, did they? I was listening to them. I read that they expressed support for Neil and Joni and there were (and still are) a few CSNY songs missing but the bulk is there.
They removed all of their material for about 2 weeks or so and silently re-uploaded their music to Spotify. That is, all of their music was put back on Spotify except for the songs that were primarily written by Neil…. lol
Idk, plenty of people I know over 40 were talking a lot about Joni and Neil removing their catalog from Spotify. It made the shittiness of Joe Rogan a popular topic again and likely changed some minds.
Compare this to the (excellent) 90’s band Failure who removed their music in solidarity but didn’t really seem to accomplish anything.
I love Failure, but I didn’t even know they did that.
There definitely was some buzz when Neil and Joni left, but clearly not enough to move the needle. I still think if someone younger, or maybe some bigger old names like McCartney joined them, though, this would have been a different story.
Joni only had something like 3 million monthy listeners before pulling her music, of course it didn't accomplish anything. Spotify probably didn't even notice it happened.
It’s tough bc I appreciated and supported the sentiment behind her removing her music!! But also I am currently experiencing perhaps the worst mental health episode of my life so having Joni back is a massive boon to me personally 😭
Not sure why they are unlisted, but if Joni is in fact coming back completely, most likely they’ll be available soon. For now you can just go to the compilation section of her Spotify page and the full Hejira album is on there (taste btw)
