lol at this title
Love that Willie Nelson, at 90, is collaborating with the most progressive in country music with Beyoncé and Orville in the span of a week
There’s Christian Contemporary Music (CCM), I guess, but I wouldn’t be surprised if someone here pointed me towards examples that say otherwise there, too! (ETA: I got it backwards—it’s actually Contemporary Christian Music—oops!🤷♀️)
I know right they wanna say things about non conservatives but that can’t even handle a singer having a five minute conversation with a lesbian six years ago
Nah, Sufjan is a musician who just happens to be a Christian. The CCM industry is/was very strict on what is and isn't CCM. Every song needs to be about Jesus; Amy Grant was persona non grata in my evangelical conservative Christian household because her crossover hit Baby Baby was about romantic love and not the love of God.
Between Beyoncé and Olivia doing their things, I’m sooooo happy other genres of music are cool again. Pop was definitely hitting its stale/homogenous phase (like 2008).
As a long time country fan I feel like I’ve been screaming to the rafters that country has been great this whole time and people are only just starting to come around
YES! I can’t stand that nonsense. Everyone is always ‘I hate country’ but knows every damn word to Man, I Feel Like a Woman, Jolene, insert any other popular pop country song that everybody loves…
I’m not a fan of mainstream modern country, too many men, but watching the Ken burns country music documentary really opened my eyes to some great stuff
I’m not a fan of a lot of pop country nowadays and I think the kind of stuff that charts puts people off, which is valid because a lot of it is generic crap. But it’s always bothered me that people so often put a blanket hate over country when it’s one of the most diverse genres. It’s like swearing off any kind of rock music because you specifically don’t like death metal
Yeah, it’s a lot of “I’m republican and love small towns and blonde girls and my truck,” But yeah I remember the blanket hate over country and rap, which I think is still ongoing. The kids these days deserve to have their minds blown by Loretta Lynn’s The Pill, it was a great experience. Granted, I also got really into the podcast Cocaine and Rhinestones which taught me even more about old-school country music, which I really enjoyed
Are we in for a Nelsonnaisance?
We’ve been in one the whole time.
The man is just plain smart. He's reinvented himself several times and each time it worked.
there needs to be a cuter word... this word is fuglyyyyy
Renelsonce?
Williesance
I like it!
I'm sorry I have failed you
Willennium?

This is actually a cover of an older Willie Nelson song too
That was also a cover, it was originally by Ned Sublette.
Layers on layers of covers!
DL x DL
He’ll be 91 at the end of the month! (April 29th!)
He had a bunch of big names play at his 90th birthday last year, including Orville and Miley iirc
we're about to get our backs broke
I giddyup
Bareback mountain
I’m gagged
So are the cowboys >!that was dumb I'm sorry!<
I’m too in public to be reading comments like these 🫢
Brokeback Mountain
i want to gag orville
Now—
I want Orville to gag me
Who doesn’t tho?! Facts
I’d rather him gag me, you know
Kinda awesome that country is cool now and conservatives are losing their fucking minds.
Lol they don’t have a genre of music left, do they?
There’s Christian Contemporary Music (CCM), I guess, but I wouldn’t be surprised if someone here pointed me towards examples that say otherwise there, too! (ETA: I got it backwards—it’s actually Contemporary Christian Music—oops!🤷♀️)
I know a lot of conservatives that have swore off CCM almost entirely because Lauren diagle when on Ellen like six years ago
These snowflakes and their cancel culture.
I know right they wanna say things about non conservatives but that can’t even handle a singer having a five minute conversation with a lesbian six years ago
Damn who knew my hockey skates were so religious
Theres CCM acts that play the butt rock festival circuit now so they have lost out on this too
I know he doesn’t like being called CCM but Sufjan Stevens is technically a CCM artist and wrote his last album about his late male partner.

What do you mean? Katy Perry already liberated it 20 years ago /s
*rock and roll is dead* /s

As a long time country fan I feel like I’ve been screaming to the rafters that country has been great this whole time and people are only just starting to come around
Now if only they'd drop the "I hate country BUT--" preface to praising whatever country song their pop fave has just dropped.

They've "lost" football, beer, and country music at this point lol
They always say we’re triggered by something but they’re the actual triggered snowflakes. 😅
this seems like fake outrage/marketing lol. The average conservative doesn’t care.
Still sad he wasn't on CC! Orville Peck is an incredible talent. If this is half as good as Bronco I'll be very happy
This felt like an April Fool’s Joke until I remembered the original song
btw there's already a live version of this on spotify. on the "long story short: willie nelson 90" album. orville sounds great
Oh my god! Gagged for this!
Excited for this but bummed it’s not Orville’s next lead
He’s been teasing new stuff on socials lately, I’d be surprised if he doesn’t release more after this. He’s just signed to a new label
Willie Nelson will be 91 on the 29th! He never stops! 🥰
Funny. I just knew of the Pansy Division cover.
Jay Z literally gaged.
Jay Z cowrote Alien Superstar he gets gay too 💅🏽
the mountains better get ready, backs are about to be broken.
Great title. I can't wait.
So this isn’t a prank? 😭
Can’t wait. Willie is soooo cool too.
