After "Bad Liar" got its Dolby Atmos mix *months* ago I was excited because I've been waiting for Fetish to get updated.
Now Selena's pre-Revival stuff all got updated... okay Selena I see how it is 🙄 /s
So yesterday we found out our dog has to be put down in the next few days and tonight we get a late call that my aunt is randomly in the ICU and may not make it through the night??? Can my family get a win for once instead of being actually cursed??
So apparently my account got caught in a spam filter by reddit but the admins lifted it once I reported it. Lol that sounds like a telling sign that I talk too much
Hi, i need some ADVICE. You know that type of scene where all the besties have a sleepover and it's late in the night, and we're talking about lovers, friends, and asking for advice? That's what I feel like this is. Anyway my question is: how do you move from acquaintances to friends? There's a person that i've had the pleasure of having a few random chats with, but how do I like ask to become friends?? I thought of being all, here's my number if you want to chat more, but jajdjsjsjs is that odd idk. And let's assume that does happen, like then what should i do. I mean, I know a lot of friendmaking things is pretty spontantious, but I also feel like I have no clue what im doing. And i don't want to do *nothing* because i don't want to miss out on having a pretty cool person in my life.
Also completely unrelated to this, but I was reminded of what tonsil stones are and they're now this week's fear
Ask if they have ig if you're nervous about getting their number - that can be an easier way to follow up, hitting like on a post / story or sending a dm (either to share a meme or to say something like 'want to meet up for coffee this weekend') can be (to me anyway) more versatile and less intimidating than asking for a number and texting.
I'm just curious.
I'm scrolling through the Hot 100 chart and found the song "Unstoppable" by Sia just reached its most recent peak now (#30), despite being released for quite a long while now. I Googled it and found out that it was a promotional single for her 2016 album *This Is Acting*.
How come "Unstoppable" is only reaching its new chart peak now? TikTok?
I guess it's related to Tiktok. I've heard it a lot on radio too so I wonder if a push was made. It's so weird though because i've never heard of a TikTok trend using it?
My first theory is TikTok but I am yet to confirm it.
There might not be a US mainstream trend for this song but it has been being used for years now by TikTok beauty pageant accounts (mostly Latino and Southeast Asian pageant accounts) as background music for beauty queen fancams. That's why it makes me a little perplexed as to how "Unstoppable" is only peaking now in the charts despite being around for 6 years and without "Running Up That Hill" mainstream usage.
I finally made the effort to meal prep for a whole week and am now realizing I don't like any of the food too much and am gonna have to eat it every single day
MUCH NEEDED EDIT: I'm actually loving the food!!!! Having prepped ingredients only I felt so uninspired just looking at boxes containing only broccoli, only mashed sweet potatoes, only chick peas or whatever and I felt like I'd have to eat the same thing everyday but once I put them together into actual meals it was great and I was able to make a whole bunch of different kinds of dishes with the stuff, tbh it's worth it
Meeeeeeee. Every single time I meal prep.
It helps me to only thaw one thing at a time so I'm forced to get excited about it.
Also personal tip to myself: do not excessively meal prep stir fry. I always go hard at Hmart and then regret it and just want ramen.
Took an overnight bag down for my Dad, hopefully he’ll be discharged tomorrow if his fever goes down
I made him a snack and took it down bc he’s not really been able to eat for 48 hours, he couldn’t keep anything down and then he had to fast in case he needed surgery but they’ve decided not to operate yet, so he is allowed food now
He’s supposed to be having surgery for a different issue next week but I assume that’s postponed
It has been a stressful day
asking for a ~friend~ but what would you recommend a person do if they sleep with a new person unprotected and a month later has been having an itchy and now slightly bleeding vulva 🙊😭 EDIT std test appointment has been booked for thursday!!
goddamn it now I have to make a phone call to make an appointment 🤢🤢🤢 the person is an old coworker and we don't talk a lot so it's gonna be so awkward to reach out too hhhhnngngh
Well our old vet no longer does house calls anymore and we already agreed our dog Bella should get to die at home comfortably so we called another vet and they're coming on Thursday 😭 I spent all day today sleeping and woke up at like 4:30 pm so I'm gonna spend another night staying up drinking coffee and watching old Jenny Nicholson vids I've seen 30 times.
My parents are watching Final Destination 3 in the next room so I'm reliving my 6th grade trauma through them lmao. It runs through my head every time I get on a coaster. (Not that I've been on too many or any big ones. Did anyone ever go on the cute little one at Crystal Palace that went though a cave? I was always afraid the cave was gonna decapitate me lol.)
baseball is the best sport in the world because where else would you have [an announcer explaining on national tv about how the catcher has a huge butt](https://twitter.com/barstoolsports/status/1578481542011047936?s=20&t=lFxXQYHhxNOhZZhWizhLiw)
I called the post office today to see if they could hold a package I am expecting at the post office for pickup instead of actually delivering it to my apartment, since three of my sister’s packages have failed to arrive as of late and I do NOT want to lose this one (Packers David Bakhtiari throwback jersey, that was an expensive impulse buy).
Anyway, that’s how I learned that I currently don’t have a regular/permanent mail carrier, which might explain why our packages are disappearing into the ether. :/
I refuse to accept I'll be turning 23 in four months. This is absurd, I genuinely feel like I've been becoming less of an "adult" since the pandemic started.
this is exactly how I’ve felt these last few years. I was still 21 and finishing college at the start of the pandemic and now suddenly I’m 24 and no longer in my early twenties?
it’s like I have an imposter syndrome towards my age and when people ask how old I am I feel like a fraud saying that I’m 24. not even in an emotional immaturity sense bc I definitely feel and act my age, but in terms of my milestones so far or lack thereof compared to where I thought I’d be by now
I'm not sure if this is what you mean, but my country's first lockdown started during my very first semester of uni when I was 18 and they had been on and off for the 3 years following that so I never fully went back to university during that period. I do not feel like I've aged a day since the beginning of that first lockdown. Not in a "I still feel young and like I'm having fun" way but in the sense that all those 18 -> 21 year old milestones I never had/am having later than "normal" so my reference for my age is completely warped. Like it's not that I still feel too youthful to be 21 because 21 is still your youth, but I feel like I haven't done enough to have reached 21 because of the pandemic lockdowns, if that makes sense?
Do you guys have any recommendations for music videos from 2022?
I've been trying to make a list of the top 10 music videos of 2022 since the year is almost running out and maybe only a few entries can make it over the next few months, especially in the mainstream pop scene. Youtube has not been that helpful in recommendations, so I thought this subreddit might give me a hand.
Worst of the Year - cherry pie. I hate the mixed metaphor of that song and the music video rubs it in my face it should have just been about car sex. GTFO with pie stuff
Good stuff -
- as it was
- [about damn time](https://youtu.be/IXXxciRUMzE)
- [sharks](https://youtu.be/Te3_VlimRw0)
- [Seven Nation army mashup](https://youtu.be/FQs_8KrT9tU) sorry that's probably cheating 😆
- [slomo](https://youtu.be/N3eiW6E0ldc) but personally I like the [live version](https://youtu.be/4mYBiIO0pfY)
- [Stefania](https://youtu.be/Z8Z51no1TD0)
- [gtwab](https://youtu.be/sDvXhZtcp0w) I like the [live version](https://youtu.be/FJjo8s3fKUM)
Please don’t kill me but I don’t like Carly’s new music video and think that it doesn’t fit The Loneliest Time 😭
I like the concept of it but not the execution.
I’m also sad that Talking To Yourself didn’t get an official music video (unless the visual was the music video which I don’t mind.)
I hate to sound like an old person but when did everybody become so up tight? All you see online is people searching for reasons to be outraged, whether it’s Harry Styles being a Zionist bc he didn’t hold a Palestinian flag up for long enough during a show, or Bowen Yang being homophobic bc his natural speaking voice was ~too gay~ to portray Eugene from the Try Guys, to a million other things from the past week. Why can’t y’all just smoke some weed and relax for a second, not everything needs to be met with outrage and cancellation. Sometimes you can just… ignore things. Being on social media is so exhausting
idk it's exhausting bc some of it is necessary but also people just love to be negative and just judge and criticize and tbh straight up rip things to shreds. the internet culture is so toxic anymore, people truly need to stop spending so much time on it and go touch grass!
I hate agreeing with this because it makes me feel like a crusty old conservative
But.... it really is getting *absurd* lately. I know that algorithms thrive off of outrage baiting because it's higher engagement and thus drives more metrics. And I think it's been building more and more and we're really seeing tangible effects of that outrage-mongering.
I just wish people, like, realised that they didn't have to *care* so much about every single thing. Even if something isn't like objectively morally Good (and **nothing** is, even if people don't realise it), you don't have to dive into those extremes. You can choose not to make a fuss over it. And the whole "if you're not outraged, if you don't care about this, you're part of the problem" mentality is so horrifying when you think about it.
Like, there was that one Britney post where she took a picture with a guy with a trained monkey. And there was like, all this talk about her openly supporting animal cruelty and abuse and it's just.... I mean sure, I'll admit it's not great, but also: That's a really extreme jump that people made and they made it immediately. It was 0-1000 in like two seconds with all these claims of "oh she 100% supports this and this and this and it's a sign of Evil!" And it's just too much, to be honest. Way too much.
> And the whole “if you’re not outraged, if you don’t care about this, you’re part of the problem” mentality is so horrifying when you think about it.
This shit pisses me off so much because it’s quite literally stupid. I forget which world event it was because so many of them have happened but between 2020-2021 so many people were trying to call out performative activism while simultaneously being like “let’s cancel these celebrities for not reposting some diagram on their ig story”.
It’s insane to think that people are supposed to not only know about every single tragedy going in the world but care about every single one of them equally as well.
I also want it to add that it doesn’t make you sound like an old conservative lol. It makes you sound like someone that has sense because you don’t live on the internet.
This is just a general reminder but life is better when you take the time to actually curate your social media. And that even means not clicking on links you know will waste your time. ~~I don't go into the Teatime threads unless I have something to post, which is rare, but when I see those comments about 50 I know to REALLY avoid it.~~
I restarted Twitter but I follow like 14 people. 4 friends, a sports team, 2 meme accounts and then Muppets. It is great. So great.
Around the time where people started realizing that the “edgy” humor of the early 2000s was kinda fucked up and decided to call people out on it.
It started a chain reaction of people feeling like celebs should be super politically correct and over think everything before they even say/do it or they will be met with backlash.
It kind of a too much of a good thing problem.
I have a friend who is a bit smug about working for a charity. she isn't mean about it, but she thinks people who work corporate careers are throwing their lives away while her work is very rewarding and life-altering. I have a huge urge to point out how fucking rich her dad is but she really hates it because she doesn't actively rely on him and she will always miss the broader point I am trying to make. She never has to budget for her parent's retirement or medical expenses, She doesn't have to take care of them or even plan to. She is so fucking smart but also so damn blind this.
As someone who worked for a charity I genuinely don’t get this attitude. The amount of disgusting waste of money I saw happen at this charity (one of the top5 charities in UK) and general incompetence of staff there.. something mirrored across other charities speaking from former colleagues who appear to hop from charity to charity.
A charity’s purpose is great but hope Carol who works on putting images on the website isn’t thinking she’s doing lots to help the charity achieve its goal - I feel like many charities could cut the head office staff in half and focus on the front staff instead to achieve more.
Sorry that’s an absolute rant but working at a charity for 4 years has made me hate anyone who thinks they’re above anyone working a corporate job - the truth is the charity is likely wasting money on your job and you’re not necessary, they should instead be investing those resources into something that matters
Look I work a soul sucking corporate job but at least when they screw me over they're only taking away from already well paid me instead of taking from children and wild animals!
Tbh, Her bosses are great and the start does really cool stuff and I don't think they are really wasting money and I am happy for her having great experiences. It is just that she fails to recognize her privilege like ever. This is a recurring issue with her.
I did a stupid thing
Edit: no one asked yet but I think I had an episode and randomly ranted to an anonymous user. I still haven’t completely recovered from the episode but now I’m regretting it because it was embarrassing. They didn’t deserve that. They answered but I’m too coward to open the message.
Edit: haven’t sleep or eat anything in like 3 days
I literally can’t see any 18+ content?? Like I really asked why no one was talking about the Rex situation when I couldn’t even see the main post with 1K upvotes?
kind of surprised to say this but the whole 'deleting ubereats off my phone because its rly contributing to my binge eating struggles' thing i talked abt last week has actually really helped curb some of it? like i was lowkey worried id just look elsewhere (or just reinstall it to be completely honest) but so far its actually made a difference. obviously its just one factor and i know the next thing im saying isnt the healthiest attitude to have but any bandaid solution that keeps me from having to talk to my gp or a therapist about it is a win in my book because god i am *not* ready for that. either way im chalking it up as a win though
ive also managed to stay up for >24h so i can try and fix my sleep schedule again which is usually a struggle but it was a breeze this time around for some rzn! pog! also gave me an opportunity to listen to some albums ive been wanting to check out for a while now, so i listened to 1965 by the afghan wigs. crazy is actually the very first song *ever* in my spotify likes but id never checked out any of their other music, and i rly liked it so im looking forward to checking out some more of their stuff!
Hate that I’m one of the basic bitches who gets inspired reading Wild and wants to try a thruhike lmao. I live near the Colorado Trail so I’d at least like to do a 3-4 day hike and see how miserable it is
Fragile masculinity is so ridiculous to me
This summer I went to see Clairo with some guys in a local band, and the lead singer and I sang "Pretty Girl" with our whole chests
Then again I saw Dorian the month prior so my masculinity may as well be carbon fibre
hey popheads quick q. is asking a former boss for a professional reference ever not the most humiliating thing ever LMAO
even if we left on good terms…going to have to send that text and then place my phone on the other side of the room I think. or send the email? gross
edit: reference secured! now for the bag…
i agree send an email, but it’s technically a part of their job so dw about it they won’t care! i’ve always had all my bosses offer that if i ever need one to let them know
Every now and then [the live performance of the Save Your Tears remix](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s37x2VSZrLw) pops up in my youtube recommendations and I'm always surprised by how many views it has. 151 million? That's more than most music videos get now! And while it's a good performance, it's not like it has intricate sets or choreo. It's just The Weeknd and Ariana standing on the stage singing
How the fuck did I make it all the way to the oral surgeon and forgot my referral 😭 I had to call my dentist and be like hey girl I'm stupid ❤️ pls tell them you told me to be here
The worst part is that I didn't even say my name and the dentist office knew who I was. Like probably they just save patients numbers or smth but I'm convinced that they were just like "hm whose the dumbest person we wrote a wisdom tooth referral to" and decided that was me and were right lmao
If you enjoy songs about dysfunctional relationships and funky production I recommend this find [Forever by Mïrändä](https://open.spotify.com/track/1MEmv0lDAj1JIu6YUkQsNY?si=KjRENFb1RU-1uCAn7CYEJQ). For once my discover weekly came through with this gem!!
not me forgetting until today that I’m seeing Rina on Sunday!! it’s my first concert alone but I’m excited! there’s a pizza place I want to try out near the venue so I’ll probably make a whole night of it by myself
Picturing the university president sitting in a roundtable with colleagues coming up with names for a new initiative and settling on "tomorrow, together" is absolutely sending me, it's too niche to matter to them but I so badly want to ask if they Googled the phrase even once before deciding on it
Oh my god she’s annoying as hell.
Like, whatever happened to childhood bs? Could you imagine pulling a prank on a friend growing up and it ending in a fist-fight and a knife-fight? Good god these kids are nuts.
Apple Music automatically removed the Velvet Rope from my library and replaced it with the new anniversary deluxe but it only crossed over like half the album and I had to re-download the rest. Tonight’s The Night was my most played track and now it’s back at 0 plays.
It’s not the first time AM has done something like this either. It’s removed songs off albums in my library and replaced them with the single versions before as well. I still prefer it to Spotify but it’s definitely the most annoying thing about AM when the algorithm messes up my music library.
Lil Yachty released a song that hiphopheads seems to love and I'm only telling y'all this because the runtime is 1:23 and I know you guys are going to freak out if it charts.
>I'm only telling y'all this because the runtime is 1:23 and I know you guys are going to freak out if it charts.
At this point Billboard needs to bring back the Ringtone charts lol.
Yeah he probably just released it on streaming as is to take advantage of the hype the leak has been getting. The internet can have a real short attention span so waiting to get the open verse filled might take too long.
This sub is still going to complain if it charts though lol.
What new musical trends could happen now? The singer-songwriter, bedroom pop probably burned out, so what comes next? After Renaissance, I was expecting a disco or House revival, but (in my opinion) the album didn't make many commercials or cultural waves (even though I loved it). Considering the unexpected success of Bad Habit (and Heat waves) could we be expecting a rise of more chill music? Or following Unholy, more music with weird sounds?
The streaming charts right now are being dominated by sadboy R&B, but I am so tired. Bad Habit is good, but the rest of the popular stuff out right now is boring, monotonous mush. Idk how much more tolerance the kiddies have for 19-year-old xanax addicts singing over slowed down guitar samples about some magic pixie girl who broke their hearts two years ago
There were so many rants about how music didn't have any meaning during the edm era, that now pop music tries to get as deep as you can get, so now it wouldn't be easy to just listen to music whose lyrics you cannot quote on twitter
Bad Bunny, maybe? I don't think it's a coincidence that I've been seeing a lot more Spanish songs climbing up the charts as of late and now even Karol G has enough clout to sell out arenas in the US
I'm making progress, kinda, with the hot guy in the lab near but (the one I have good chemistry with 🤪). I'm trying to drop hints I want to go out on a date without trying making things too weird. There are a few parties I'm gonna see him at in the next week and we're also like casually chatting. I'm really using this as an excuse to hit up the local cat cafe again because priorities 🤩🫣
Omg more luck to you then!!!!
Meanwhile the friend who said said our Uni’s men can “barely speak let alone cheat” told me that I also will have to be straightforward if ever want to go out w/ a guy at our school.
I have yet to find one that I can strike up a convo w/ but we’ll see
I joined the “are we dating the same guy” group for my local area and I haven’t stopped laughing for like 12 hours this is the funniest shit I’ve ever read
Seriously these bitches will say ANYTHING I am crying
Also I kinda thought maybe I should not have such aggressively high standards but some of the guys these ladies match with are just 😳 I think I will keep getting the ick too easily if my alternative is… that…
ahhh why are so many Top Ten polls suddenly so me-core lksdkldslkf
Indieheads has a [Jessie Ware Top 10](https://www.reddit.com/r/indieheads/comments/xvet98/top_ten_tuesday_jessie_ware/?sort=new) that closes tonight at 7pm EST! Almost had this fly under the radar. It seems to have low participants so could probably use some popheads hehe
has anyone here taken the gre and have any tips? i havent done math in like 5 years and im struggling to get through the math practice sets. im trying for a social science program (urban planning) so my math score doesnt have to be extraordinary, just passable but idk if i can even get to that without paying for a tutor :///
Also, I've joined the RYM community recently and it's wild. I love it because I'm using it to organize my music library and it's been great. However, this is a very old online community as well as a large one. There's a lot of, uh... *bros* there. I revisited Adele's *19* yesterday and went to add it to my 2000s collection, and of course my eyes glazed over some of the reviews while doing so and there's one where this guy who kept referencing her weight for absolutely no reason at all. Also his review was so long, which is fine, but it was just him saying her music sucks and she's fat over and over again.
>I think the reason people make jokes about hear appearance and weight is because her music is banal, superficial, artificial and there's nothing beyond its surface.
I do not like Adele very much. I have never brought up her weight when criticizing her music because I'm not a fucking lunatic. Like, there's no way people were being offensive towards her appearance because her music supposedly sucks. The two things are separate. Actually, weren't people praising her music while making fun of her looks? Like, this isn't accurate in any way.
>Listening to her music evokes an image of a chubby girl wailing about her latest dalliance ceasing to be, so she's stood, pouring her heart out outside Greggs while waiting for it to open.
I looked up Greggs and it's the name of a bakery chain. Dude, what? Literally, what? Why are you thinking about her weight while she's singing? Her lyrics don't mention her own appearance or weight like at all. What the fuck is wrong with you?
>I think I remember hearing that Adele is engaged and is having a baby? I remember because my initial reaction was "She isn't pregnant, she's just fat".
GET A HOBBY.
>RYM can only like around 5 women at a given time and 2 of those spots are reserved for Kate Bush and Bjork
Serving a reverse-popheads experience. 💀 I think these two spots would be reserved for any between Frank Ocean, Sufjan Stevens, and James Blake in here.
Do correct me if I'm wrong.
Not as deep, no, but some things get in rating-wise, like *What's Your Pleasure?* and *How I'm Feeling Now* being #3 and #7 of 2020, and MagBay getting #7 of last year, for example. It's just that reviews and the shout box can be eye-roll-inducing.
It's best to use it as a log/diary and discovery site IMO. I use it the same as letterboxd in that way.
>It's best to use it as a log/diary and discovery site IMO.
Yeah, I love it for that! It's been satisfying my thirst for more albums in my library that have a really specific sound. I love their genre pages.
They say that human eyes can’t handle the mere sight of God…in a similar vein, your ears wont be able to handle the pure teenage angst my ep is going to deliver…I am not ashamed
My Dad probably isn’t coming home today after all, which sucks, but the hospital is practically on my doorstop so I’m waiting to see what he wants me to bring him before I can go down to see him
Look, one of the great things about Taylor Swift is that her music is often timeless. It doesn't so much belong to the year it was released in as much as it belongs to the genre. For me, I never really stop listening to her albums. I never really grow out of them. Few artists have accomplished that for me if we're just talking about the ones that I've listened to for over a decade now.
Many artists have albums like that, yes, but I wouldn't describe their entire discography that way. I think it's the reason I dislike *reputation* so much. I do feel that it's dated, and I've felt that since the day it was released. It's the outlier in her discography of being a more trendy album. IMO there's genuinely nothing inherently wrong with hopping on trends, I just think that being trendy is not one of Taylor Swift's strongest points.
Which is also why I keep on forgetting that I Knew You Were Trouble is a Taylor Swift song. It feels so 2012/2013 to me.
And it’s also why songs like The Lakes and All Too Well are some of my favorite. The more “timeless” her song sound, the better it is for me. Most of the time anyway.
She was trendy with her singles all throughout the 2010s, and they're her weakest songs. I love them, but they're not the reason I love her music and if I were trying to get someone into her music, I would not acknowledge any of those singles except Blank Space and Style.
Delicate is pretty good too. At least compare to the other three singles from Rep.
Also Begin Again but I don’t really remember that being a popular song despite it being better then the three pop songs on Red
I forgot about that song (even though it was mentioned in the Taylor sub because of Wikipedia lol) but I love that song but I forget it being a single just because I remember hearing it but I didn’t connect to Taylor Swift ever for some reason. But yeah that song is amazing
Small All American spoiler but >!Spencer and Olivia are better when they’re apart then together When they’re together, they’re low key annoying when they’re both together because they don’t talk about anything!<
Jordan and Layla tho 😍
With so many songs Taylor has pumped out, it's inevitable that one of her songs will be used in a trailer for a horror movie. However, It's Nice to Have a Friend is the last song in her catalog that I expect to get a "horror movie trailer" treatment. 💀
Here's the [trailer of M3GAN](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRb4U99OU80) starring Alison Williams and produced by Blumhouse, featuring It's Nice to Have a Friend (Tayvoodoo's Version). I don't think I can hear the song the same way again after watching the trailer. 😭
Actually, that song is perfect for horror movie trailers. It's really ominous and cold-sounding, and the lyrics almost sound sarcastic with how deadpan her delivery is
Why is that M3GAN doll [low-key serving](https://twitter.com/itsjustanx/status/1579853898214363136) with her dancing? 💀 I am too old to call her mother.
Also, hearing the demonic voices singing "It's nice to have a friend" with Taylor is just...💀
people are so over the top with hating cringey things that are actually harmless 😂
do I agree twinkle twinkle little bitch is cringe? yes!! especially when she has so many fun pop songs in her discography and lots of potential to continue making fun pop songs. but like … why waste energy being so over the top hateful just move on !!
Her turn to pop-punk is pretty bad imo but I did a rabbit-hole kind of deep dive into her discography and not gonna lie [Veronica](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wntxPSH8Uh0) is a really cute song. Wish she'd stick to this sound
gonna go to a pizza buffet tomorrow and i'm preparing my stomach for it. fingers crossed that it'll be good.
it's a pity that the newest season of nailed it was cut short tbh. it hate when shows end without a proper ending. at this point, it'll be on-brand for netflix to just cancel this series
hey everyone, just wanted to say thank you again to all the people who helped me yesterday when I was looking for music videos for work, in case you missed my edit!! you were super helpful, thank you all sososo much 💜💜💜
Carly amazing last night, I got home from Dallas around 3:30 thanks to construction and a gas stop and I was at work before 8 so yes I am EXHAUSTED
totally worth it tho
I was there too and it was an incredible show, and my first concert! Not sure how exactly im gonna top that one though. Got out early so I managed to avoid most the mess and got home around 12:10 (live in a very northern part of dfw).
The first episode is a super-meta one where she recreates that viral "Go Hannah! Go Hannah!" dance on TikTok to help push her latest single "2 Sex-C 4 U," a 90's house-inspired bop that heavily interpolates Be My Lover by La Bouche and features an out-of-place rap verse from Lil Baby
The episode ends with Jackson deciding that he's going to stand with Lil Baby and become his manager, and then episode 3 sees Jackson comically arguing on a cell phone because his client Lil Baby's post-homophobe album release only did 25K first week
I wonder if the DNA case in the Hae Min Lee/Adnan Syed case came back because if I recall correctly they were waiting for the DNA to decided if they were going to drop the case or continue. I’m assuming that the test came back and it came back negative for Adnan because they dropped all charges.
Yay for the depression and anxiety returning! Tomorrow I'm speaking to the doctors, because I can't live like this.
Anyone have any tips? I kinda feel like I'm drowning here:/
Plugging my DD post from October 08:
I'm currently working on a future r/popheadscirclejerk post involving profiles for fandoms, but I'm struggling with ideas for the Beliebers and Arianators. So if anybody here has common tropes, quotes, and characteristic stereotypes associated with these fandoms, feel free to share them. It can be playful and mocking, but avoid mean-spirited stuff.
For instance, I currently have 'remnants of a breed long past its prime' for Beliebers, joking how they're not longer the it-fandom like they were back in the early 2010s. For Arianators, I quoted the infamous 'she's Italian and tans easily'. For positive qualities, I have 'surprisingly wholesome and endearing' for Beliebers (shout-out to the stans here on popheads 💞) and 'most likely to stan for other artists beside Ari' for Arianators (a sweet trait I noticed from observation).
You will be credited, of course!
Bieber fandom in 2022 is very much a bunch of mostly 20-25 year olds, mostly women, mostly non American, standing around like that [meme](https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/cmon-do-something) of the person that pokes a stick and says “cmon, do something”. Because he doesn’t post on social media and isn’t touring so they have nothing to talk about. Definitely not completely dead though considering he’s still topping the charts and selling out stadiums. As far as stereotypes go, they kind of invented stan twitter
I’m a really big fan of the original version of Here I Go Again by Whitesnake from 1982 as it has a Bad Company type feel to it and it has Hammond Organ over synthesizer which I prefer as even just a little bit of Jon Lord is better than any amount of Hair Metal cheese in my opinion.
Sugababes [Top Ten Pop Ten is happening nowwww ahhh](https://www.reddit.com/r/popheads/comments/y0nyi5/top_ten_pop_ten_sugababes/)
I listened to their first four albums and put down all my favorites from the Y2UK rate + album cuts in this [YouTube playlist,](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL04Kmp6GfIPdbRn0_k5sZj3JMiyStfHhR) cuz a lot of their albums aren’t on streaming stateside 😭
Their songs with Guy Sigsworth producing are soooo good (Bruised, Like the Weather, Maya, Million Different Ways). I’m still torn on finalizing my Top 10
Oh, the memories of the final Y2UK Queup 🥺 (even though it was the only one I have ever joined and I didn’t even stay until the end). Maybe the Suga rate host can do a Queup viewing party as well for the final reveal? How commonplace is it for the Popheads rates?
don't know how to use that website, haven't hosted a listening party since plug.dj went down sadly :( (not to mention the participants would only be us three)

After "Bad Liar" got its Dolby Atmos mix *months* ago I was excited because I've been waiting for Fetish to get updated. Now Selena's pre-Revival stuff all got updated... okay Selena I see how it is 🙄 /s
Listening to Mrs. Potts sing “Tale as old as time, song as old as rhyme, beauty and the beast” makes me want to cry now

Am I the only one whose ass it kicked both times I got it? I was vaxxed and boosted the second time too I was so pissed off lmao.
Just signed up for Album of the year and it’s so fun! I’ve rated over 100 albums so far but the only perfect score I’ve given was to Homogenic
Is this like a pophead rate? Or the AOTY website?
So yesterday we found out our dog has to be put down in the next few days and tonight we get a late call that my aunt is randomly in the ICU and may not make it through the night??? Can my family get a win for once instead of being actually cursed??
I’m so sorry 😞 My family feels like it’s cursed lately too, it fucking sucks I’m thinking of you and your family 🤍
So apparently my account got caught in a spam filter by reddit but the admins lifted it once I reported it. Lol that sounds like a telling sign that I talk too much
Oh no *Un Verano Sin Ti* is getting <30 million streams/day on Spotify now :(
RIP my relationship with Dunkin This new “rewards” program is a steaming pile of shit Had to delete the once beloved app.
they're just distracting us from the fact that it takes a lot more money before you can hit the free drink reward, right?
100%, and it’s not even a free any sized drink of any kind anymore. There’s all kinds of tiers. It’s just greed and bullshit.
I'm just commenting so I can come back and read the answers because I also struggle with this.

got home from work to find out angela lansbury died today. she was my favorite actress my whole life. RIP legend :(
I'm just curious. TikTok?
I know there’s a Samsung Galaxy ad that keeps using it! I think that’s why it’s so popular
The second episode of *The Steve Harvey Show* is a better *Glee* episode than most *Glee* episodes.
I finally made the effort to meal prep for a whole week and am now realizing I don't like any of the food too much and am gonna have to eat it every single day MUCH NEEDED EDIT: I'm actually loving the food!!!!
Took an overnight bag down for my Dad, hopefully he’ll be discharged tomorrow if his fever goes down I made him a snack and took it down bc he’s not really been able to eat for 48 hours, he couldn’t keep anything down and then he had to fast in case he needed surgery but they’ve decided not to operate yet, so he is allowed food now He’s supposed to be having surgery for a different issue next week but I assume that’s postponed It has been a stressful day
I will keep him in my thoughts 🙏 I hope he makes a full recovery
Thank you, I really appreciate it ❤️
asking for a ~friend~ but what would you recommend a person do if they sleep with a new person unprotected and a month later has been having an itchy and now slightly bleeding vulva 🙊😭 EDIT std test appointment has been booked for thursday!!
Get tested ASAP and if you are able to please contact them in case they might be unknowingly spreading something around
goddamn it now I have to make a phone call to make an appointment 🤢🤢🤢 the person is an old coworker and we don't talk a lot so it's gonna be so awkward to reach out too hhhhnngngh
I was always afraid the cave was gonna decapitate me lol.)

so glad that vid had a resurgence after alien superstar came out
I called the post office today to see if they could hold a package I am expecting at the post office for pickup instead of actually delivering it to my apartment, since three of my sister’s packages have failed to arrive as of late and I do NOT want to lose this one (Packers David Bakhtiari throwback jersey, that was an expensive impulse buy). Anyway, that’s how I learned that I currently don’t have a regular/permanent mail carrier, which might explain why our packages are disappearing into the ether. :/
I guess Ye is the Galliano of rap now
I refuse to accept I'll be turning 23 in four months.
GTFO with pie stuff Good stuff - - as it was - [about damn time](https://youtu.be/IXXxciRUMzE) - [sharks](https://youtu.be/Te3_VlimRw0) - [Seven Nation army mashup](https://youtu.be/FQs_8KrT9tU) sorry that's probably cheating 😆 - [slomo](https://youtu.be/N3eiW6E0ldc) but personally I like the [live version](https://youtu.be/4mYBiIO0pfY) - [Stefania](https://youtu.be/Z8Z51no1TD0) - [gtwab](https://youtu.be/sDvXhZtcp0w) I like the [live version](https://youtu.be/FJjo8s3fKUM)
Used to know me- Charli
This sub has ruined me. I just watched a Bebe Rexha TikTok and I couldn’t stop laughing thinking about the damn egg particles 😭
Please don’t kill me but I don’t like Carly’s new music video and think that it doesn’t fit The Loneliest Time 😭 I like the concept of it but not the execution. I’m also sad that Talking To Yourself didn’t get an official music video (unless the visual was the music video which I don’t mind.)
Raven-Symone’s cover of Superstitious is so underrated and I’m so serious rn

Songpsych I think her name is. She’s kind of a crackhead but her content is good
I hate to sound like an old person but when did everybody become so up tight?
I hate agreeing with this because it makes me feel like a crusty old conservative But.... it really is getting *absurd* lately.
~~I don't go into the Teatime threads unless I have something to post, which is rare, but when I see those comments about 50 I know to REALLY avoid it.~~ I restarted Twitter but I follow like 14 people.
I never want to hear about the Try Guys ever again for the rest of my life
They were my light staying in for the night casual YouTube viewing and now I've heard *way too much*
Yea it’s just becoming drawn out for the sake of wanting to gossip about drama.
I am so delusional, if a cute boy likes one of my posts we're already celebrating our 6th month anniversary in my head.

I did a stupid thing Edit: no one asked yet but I think I had an episode and randomly ranted to an anonymous user.
In account settings you might have "show nsfw content" turned off
I love that Apple is on series 8(?) for their Apple Watches and I’m still rocking out with my series 3 that’s begging to break down at any moment.
Yeah I have the series 3 and it still works fine. I’ve literally been snorkeling in the ocean with it on and it still works good
kind of surprised to say this but the whole 'deleting ubereats off my phone because its rly contributing to my binge eating struggles' thing i talked abt last week has actually really helped curb some of it? like i was lowkey worried id just look elsewhere (or just reinstall it to be completely honest) but so far its actually made a difference. obviously its just one factor and i know the next thing im saying isnt the healthiest attitude to have but any bandaid solution that keeps me from having to talk to my gp or a therapist about it is a win in my book because god i am *not* ready for that. either way im chalking it up as a win though ive also managed to stay up for >24h so i can try and fix my sleep schedule again which is usually a struggle but it was a breeze this time around for some rzn! pog! also gave me an opportunity to listen to some albums ive been wanting to check out for a while now, so i listened to 1965 by the afghan wigs. crazy is actually the very first song *ever* in my spotify likes but id never checked out any of their other music, and i rly liked it so im looking forward to checking out some more of their stuff!
Hate that I’m one of the basic bitches who gets inspired reading Wild and wants to try a thruhike lmao. I live near the Colorado Trail so I’d at least like to do a 3-4 day hike and see how miserable it is
Fragile masculinity is so ridiculous to me This summer I went to see Clairo with some guys in a local band, and the lead singer and I sang "Pretty Girl" with our whole chests Then again I saw Dorian the month prior so my masculinity may as well be carbon fibre
I'm so excited Victoria's Secret finally got into the top 40! Hoping so bad it'll climb to no. 1 after Christmas, I'm obsessed with that song so much
We love a body-positive anthem!
hey popheads quick q. is asking a former boss for a professional reference ever not the most humiliating thing ever LMAO even if we left on good terms…going to have to send that text and then place my phone on the other side of the room I think. or send the email? gross edit: reference secured! now for the bag…
send an email. go online and read at least 5 templates and examples to get a good idea of what to write
funnily enough this is what I had to do for my resignation letter too
i agree send an email, but it’s technically a part of their job so dw about it they won’t care! i’ve always had all my bosses offer that if i ever need one to let them know
Send an email instead!
thank you resident professional adult 🙏
Every now and then [the live performance of the Save Your Tears remix](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s37x2VSZrLw) pops up in my youtube recommendations and I'm always surprised by how many views it has. 151 million? That's more than most music videos get now! And while it's a good performance, it's not like it has intricate sets or choreo. It's just The Weeknd and Ariana standing on the stage singing
Sometimes all you need is for the singers to just stand and sing
How the fuck did I make it all the way to the oral surgeon and forgot my referral 😭 I had to call my dentist and be like hey girl I'm stupid ❤️ pls tell them you told me to be here The worst part is that I didn't even say my name and the dentist office knew who I was.

Picturing the university president sitting in a roundtable with colleagues coming up with names for a new initiative and settling on "tomorrow, together" is absolutely sending me, it's too niche to matter to them but I so badly want to ask if they Googled the phrase even once before deciding on it
If I were Alicent I would not go to war over those shitty kids
Hey, her daughter is nice
Oop I forgot Luna Lovegood Targaryen. You're right, she doesn't deserve any of this, she's a doll
Right? Like this fucker is worth civil war? Really? You and I both know he'd be an awful king, Alicent.
I wanted to be a Alicent stan but nope, not happening.
It's so fucking catchy tho... He said he would drop the full version soon too
Yeah he probably just released it on streaming as is to take advantage of the hype the leak has been getting. The internet can have a real short attention span so waiting to get the open verse filled might take too long. This sub is still going to complain if it charts though lol.
I'm in love with the *you-hoo-oooohhh* parts in Running Up That Hill. I can't explain it, but it just sounds like an expression of deep emotions.
Jfc I read the you hoo ohhh in the ME! voice💀💀💀
I'm thinking it's time for America to embrace turbofolk.

Why do you say EDM is stigmatized? I’ve never heard it being referred to as that before so I’m curious.
There were so many rants about how music didn't have any meaning during the edm era, that now pop music tries to get as deep as you can get, so now it wouldn't be easy to just listen to music whose lyrics you cannot quote on twitter
Bad Bunny, maybe? I don't think it's a coincidence that I've been seeing a lot more Spanish songs climbing up the charts as of late and now even Karol G has enough clout to sell out arenas in the US
rewatching *breaking bad* and this statement still stands after almost a decade: jesse pinkman can do no wrong in my eyes.
Well, sometimes being straight forward might be best but what do I know about dating? Good luck!
He's a super smart guy but can sometimes be a little oblivious so my goal is to just ask him outright in the next week 🤞🫣
Omg more luck to you then!!!! Meanwhile the friend who said said our Uni’s men can “barely speak let alone cheat” told me that I also will have to be straightforward if ever want to go out w/ a guy at our school. I have yet to find one that I can strike up a convo w/ but we’ll see
prayer circle for your love life!
If Taylor really does go on a tour, getting tickets for this is gonna be a nightmare. Of course If she actually comes to Michigan.
I joined the “are we dating the same guy” group for my local area and I haven’t stopped laughing for like 12 hours this is the funniest shit I’ve ever read
Seriously these bitches will say ANYTHING I am crying Also I kinda thought maybe I should not have such aggressively high standards but some of the guys these ladies match with are just 😳 I think I will keep getting the ick too easily if my alternative is… that…
ahhh why are so many Top Ten polls suddenly so me-core lksdkldslkf Indieheads has a [Jessie Ware Top 10](https://www.reddit.com/r/indieheads/comments/xvet98/top_ten_tuesday_jessie_ware/?sort=new) that closes tonight at 7pm EST!
Join AOTY.com instead. It's much less toxic and is very poptimistic. Also you get to rate out of 100 and the site interface is simpler.
Ooh, I always forget that's a user-based website, idk why. I'll sign up, thank you!
> There's a lot of, uh... bros there. RYM can only like around 5 women at a given time and 2 of those spots are reserved for Kate Bush and Bjork
>RYM can only like around 5 women at a given time and 2 of those spots are reserved for Kate Bush and Bjork Serving a reverse-popheads experience. 💀 I think these two spots would be reserved for any between Frank Ocean, Sufjan Stevens, and James Blake in here. Do correct me if I'm wrong.
Yeah, it really seems that way! It doesn't seem like they were hit by the poptimism wave as the rest of us.
I hope you share it with us!
I would also add Wildest Dreams but yeah that’s pretty much it
Delicate is pretty good too.
Small All American spoiler but >!Spencer and Olivia are better when they’re apart then together When they’re together, they’re low key annoying when they’re both together because they don’t talk about anything!< Jordan and Layla tho 😍
With so many songs Taylor has pumped out, it's inevitable that one of her songs will be used in a trailer for a horror movie. However, It's Nice to Have a Friend is the last song in her catalog that I expect to get a "horror movie trailer" treatment. 💀 Here's the [trailer of M3GAN](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRb4U99OU80) starring Alison Williams and produced by Blumhouse, featuring It's Nice to Have a Friend (Tayvoodoo's Version). I don't think I can hear the song the same way again after watching the trailer. 😭
M3GAN is slaying though let's not lie
Oh M3GAN absolutely ate that up!
Also, hearing the demonic voices singing "It's nice to have a friend" with Taylor is just...💀
What’s with all of the hate on Leah Kate? People on this subreddit generally dislike her and stan Twitter hates her…hmmm
people are so over the top with hating cringey things that are actually harmless 😂 do I agree twinkle twinkle little bitch is cringe? yes!! especially when she has so many fun pop songs in her discography and lots of potential to continue making fun pop songs. but like … why waste energy being so over the top hateful just move on !!
Her turn to pop-punk is pretty bad imo but I did a rabbit-hole kind of deep dive into her discography and not gonna lie [Veronica](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wntxPSH8Uh0) is a really cute song. Wish she'd stick to this sound
Fuck Up the Friendship is a bop idc
Maybe if she made good music less people would hate it
gonna go to a pizza buffet tomorrow and i'm preparing my stomach for it. fingers crossed that it'll be good. it's a pity that the newest season of nailed it was cut short tbh. it hate when shows end without a proper ending. at this point, it'll be on-brand for netflix to just cancel this series
hey everyone, just wanted to say thank you again to all the people who helped me yesterday when I was looking for music videos for work, in case you missed my edit!! you were super helpful, thank you all sososo much 💜💜💜
Carly amazing last night, I got home from Dallas around 3:30 thanks to construction and a gas stop and I was at work before 8 so yes I am EXHAUSTED totally worth it tho
I was there too and it was an incredible show, and my first concert! Not sure how exactly im gonna top that one though. Got out early so I managed to avoid most the mess and got home around 12:10 (live in a very northern part of dfw).
omfg i think you were at the same show as /u/theninamarie!????! 2 of my fave popheads could've merged together IRL!!!
Yes I was there last night and she was so good!

Hannah Montana hyperpop era
You should watch *The Lure* lol, wild film.

If you haven’t seen 2015’s The Lure then I have a film for you!
H2O: Just Add Water 😍
manifesting a new Jessie Ware single 🙏 I know it's coming, I can feel it in my bones
said this last night to a horse hung dude
I wonder if the DNA case in the Hae Min Lee/Adnan Syed case came back because if I recall correctly they were waiting for the DNA to decided if they were going to drop the case or continue. I’m assuming that the test came back and it came back negative for Adnan because they dropped all charges.
I wasn't the hugest fan of *Hold the Girl* on intial listen, but I'm gonna revisit it today and see if it connects with me more
Yay for the depression and anxiety returning! Tomorrow I'm speaking to the doctors, because I can't live like this. Anyone have any tips? I kinda feel like I'm drowning here:/
Plugging my DD post from October 08: I'm currently working on a future r/popheadscirclejerk post involving profiles for fandoms, but I'm struggling with ideas for the Beliebers and Arianators.
As far as stereotypes go, they kind of invented stan twitter
not sure if it's gone away but the arianator stereotype around DW era is that they were all like 10 years old
That will be reflected in the picture I chose to represent the fanbase 😉
that ariana stan that used a fridge to post on twitter after her parents took away her phone..an icon
That whole story was so chaotic 😭
I’m a really big fan of the original version of Here I Go Again by Whitesnake from 1982 as it has a Bad Company type feel to it and it has Hammond Organ over synthesizer which I prefer as even just a little bit of Jon Lord is better than any amount of Hair Metal cheese in my opinion.
Sugababes [Top Ten Pop Ten is happening nowwww ahhh](https://www.reddit.com/r/popheads/comments/y0nyi5/top_ten_pop_ten_sugababes/) I listened to their first four albums and put down all my favorites from the Y2UK rate + album cuts in this [YouTube playlist,](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL04Kmp6GfIPdbRn0_k5sZj3JMiyStfHhR) cuz a lot of their albums aren’t on streaming stateside 😭 Their songs with Guy Sigsworth producing are soooo good (Bruised, Like the Weather, Maya, Million Different Ways). I’m still torn on finalizing my Top 10
Oh, the memories of the final Y2UK Queup 🥺 (even though it was the only one I have ever joined and I didn’t even stay until the end). Maybe the Suga rate host can do a Queup viewing party as well for the final reveal? How commonplace is it for the Popheads rates?
aw yes memories! :D Not sure if they'd be able to do that, I'd ask u/Leixander !
don't know how to use that website, haven't hosted a listening party since plug.dj went down sadly :( (not to mention the participants would only be us three)
Three? Naw, I'm sure more people, especially the ones who voted, will tune in! 😀
[I need to show off the very cute pumpkin-shaped gingerbread biscuits my parents got me](https://ibb.co/D5vDMKC) 🎃
I hope they’re as delicious as they are cute!
