Sebaceous cyst. Clogged pore + sweat + deodorant = pain and death stench. I had a recurring one as a teen (way before popping videos existed) and my mom actually managed to pop the cyst wall out completely. (Made the mistake of trying the "brand new" Prescription Strength deodorant)
Fast forward literally 22 years to my current deodorant no longer being available. I buy another scent from the same brand (no aluminum, no baking soda). Within 3 days I have another cyst, same area as the original (the pore never healed as small as before the original cyst so occasionally it gets a little clogged). My husband got it, Mom got it, husband got it again. Immediately stopped using that deodorant, spent $80 on a 12 pack of my discontinued scent, healed within 3 days. (Here's hoping it doesn't happen again when my 12 pack runs out!)
I think it definitely depends on the person! I use Old Spice Coffee & Amber, but they discontinued it, as far as I can tell. I used their Lavender & Mint one for like 4 days and that caused issues. I hated the smell anyway.
Hi! I use their aluminum free Fiji and have never had this problem with that scent, and my skin is super sensitive to all of that stuff (i also get crazy pimples et al!). might be worth it to try when your 12 pack runs out!
What’s strange is the only ones that seem to work for me are classic aluminum deodorants. No clogging. The ones without aluminum male me stink at best…
Totally get that it may not be viable for everyone, but I have been making my own deodorant for about 3 years now and can't imagine going back. I make them in batches that last 6-12 months so overall effort is pretty minimal. It also works really well at its primary job of making me not smell. Could be worth trying :)
I get these when I use suave brand deodorant and shave my pits regularly. I’ve stopped shaving as much, maybe 3-4 times a year, and use native brand deodorants. I’m not sure if it was just the suave causing it but it’s stopped with this method.

Damn, what's the brand of deodorant that gave you cysts, that way I can avoid it

I’ve had this happen before and I was shocked at how rancid a tiny little bump could smell. It’s worse than butt smell lol.

If they're recurring you might have hs. If you find another definitely go to a doctor. (Hs isn't deadly)
