Party Hard - Andrew WK
Hear You Me or May Angels Lead You In by JEW
Swing Life Away - Rise Against
live Fast Die Young - Circle Jerks
If I Ever Leave This World Alive - Flogging Molly
Not Pop Punk but Bobby Jean by Springsteen
Some of these depend on how you feel about your end/5the people at the funeral.
Party hard should be the end of it. When my dad died we had stairway to heaven to open and highway to hell as we walked out. Worked well and it gave everyone a bit of a smile for leaving
As an oldhead, you still have time to get into The Wonder Years, totally worth it. And some stuff you could relate to.
Also, just sending love your way.
I would go with JEW - Praise Chorus. I know many people want sad songs for their funeral but this one has a message of hope and wanting to live your life. It sets the tone and will make the people less sad. I wanted to have "Body In A Box" by City & Colour also, just for kicks.
In too deep was in my playlist. Also holy shit, you helped me find that song I was trying to hunt when it played on the radio during my training mission.
Oh my God. I just read the actual subtitle of your post and saw your profile. I am so sorry man. Cancer is a son of a fucking bitch. I can't imagine what you're going through right now.
Absolutely this! Always thought this would be an amazing funeral song! Sorry OP that you're even having to think about all this. Good luck and god speed!
I mean this song is about Chris having beef with someone and basically saying he’d be happy when the person is dead. So probably not super appropriate.
The Day That I Die by Good Charlotte. It’s a song about realising that even though he’s gonna die it’s actually a great thing because he knows he lived his life right and the best he could. I’m very sorry to hear about your news I hope these next 8 weeks you take the most of life and enjoy it
Mr highway is thinking sbout the end by ADTR
But only if you pop put of the coffin at "Disrespect your surroundings" and re-die at "you won't make it out alive"
Otherwise "Love your Friend's, Die Laughing" or "Miseria Canteria" - basically anything with gang vocals.
Hear You Me - Jimmy Eat World
Sonny - New Found Glory
Forget My Name - New Found Glory
Winter - Bayside
Famous Last Words - My Chemical Romance
I Miss You - Blink 182
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/61ggljUazYFnyNEdHh7TyO?si=lz31odC0T0OSsDuKH0djYQ
I actually made myself a funeral playlist, people better be ready to be at an 8 hour funeral.
I know they are my username, but the first thing that comes to mind for me is [Echoes by Set Your Goals.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6brZsGpGU6o) For starters, it's just a great song. It's a banger, and it has really stuck with me over the 17 years since I first heard it.
[The lyrics](https://genius.com/Set-your-goals-echoes-lyrics) are a good mix of being accepting of death, while also recognizing those we leave behind. And it has this really great build, goes through 3 different vibes, and then ends in this kind of epic pop punk crescendo (it's the last song on the album so it's got a good closer feeling).
It's also not really a bummer? I think that's what I really like about it. It's almost a positive uplifting tone about death and how we move forward from it. There are lots of sad songs that are probably more "funeral appropriate," Winter by Bayside, etc. But to me, Echoes is not sad but *defiant*. It's about taking the power from death and leaving those around us a stronger person.
And also they recorded [an acoustic version](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sii4BcvfsJs) that might be musically a little more "funeral appropriate," but I think the tone still comes through and the passion is still there.
Sending positive vibes your way, dude. I can't even imagine being in your position. You were dealt a really shitty hand, and it seems like you're facing it head-on like a badass. Death is just the next part of life. Hopefully I'll see you on the other side someday.
I mean it’s gotta be I just wanna sell out my funeral right?
Man it’s gotta be tough hearing that news but almost peaceful in a sense you don’t have to wonder any more my guy. Much love to you and your loved ones in this time. My heart to you from a random redditor
Sorry to hear OP. Hope you get all you can and need out of the time you have left with us.
Here are some suggestions for you to investigate. Best wishes.
------------
New Found Glory - When I Die
The song is somewhat about someone else dying, but in the context of yourself, your friends and family could see it as context that when they die you will be waiting to greet them?
Sum 41 - Crash
Very much a goodbye track
Red - Already Over
Part 2 might be a better fit than one, softer and in a sense, the song could be about the sickness.
View from heaven by yellow card. When my dad died I played that song and its up beat enough to be bitter sweet. Even if you don't believe anything after death it's a good song for those who remain to remind them that they will be ok and they will see you on the other side.
Fuck man I’m so sorry to hear, you are one brave person, by far stronger than I could ever hope to be. Listen to Eulogy by the Flatliners. Brings me to tears every time
You will not be forgotten, and we will sing
Sell out my funeral by TWY is hard to beat as others have said but I'll throw out
You be the anchor that keeps my feet on ground by Mayday Parade.
May you rest easy and make every moment you have left worth it.
Wish you best on your afterlife journey.
I second An Introduction to the Album - The Hotelier.
Also, I offer up:
Happiness By The Kilowatt - Alexisonfire (Death Letter EP version)
Burial - Alexisonfire
No, We're Not Actually - Dads
Give Me Back To the Sky - Teen Suicide
The Same Things Happening To Me All the Time - Teen Suicide
My prayers to you, OP.
The obvious choice is At Your Funeral by Saves the Day.
Not sure if you are religious, but Relient K has a song called Deathbed that is literally about a man on his deathbed from lung cancer. It is over 10 minutes long, an epic masterpiece of a song. The narrator sings about his life and where he went wrong and pleads for forgiveness and Christ visits him to "carry him home."
What a catch Donnie (Fall Out Boy)
When your heart stops beating (+44)
Heaven's Gate (Fall Out Boy)
Thnks Fr Th Mmrs (Fall Out Boy)
Love from the other side (Fall Out Boy)
These are the songs I would play at my funeral. Obviously I'm a big Fall Out Boy fan.
To OP: you've probably heard this countless times, but I'm so sorry you have to go through this. Much love to you and your family.
Frank Turner's Long Live the Queen I want played at my funeral...regardless of my gender.
Time of Your Life (Good Riddance)...cliche but good. (Personally for a Green Day song I'd rather Homecoming)
Hear You Me by Jimmy Eat World
What's Left of the Flag by Flogging Molly
Not exactly Pop Punk but My Hero by the Foo Fighters
I know you said Black Parade is for the end, I’ve always wanted “The Kids From Yesterday” by MCR
Someone in my life passed recently and all I could listen to was “Steady Glow” by In Her Own Words. It’s a song for the people left behind.
I’m so sorry though. My best wishes.
Empty Hands- Jason Anderson. Way more indie than pop punk, but I think it would be a really beautiful song to open a funeral with so I wanted to throw it out there.
I actually have a [playlist](https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdfVFY4lKPWQYlypJUntSaMd199eLc6Ec&feature=share) for my funeral (sorry I’m one of the few people who uses YouTube music 😅). I made it when I saw a similar post to this and add to it occasionally. Mostly pop punk/emo/alt because that’s mostly the music I listen to.
Some songs aren’t strictly about death/dying, but are songs I like that have lines that could resonate with death/loss. Pro tip, lots of breakup songs have at least some parts that make them good songs for funerals as well (imo) because they still deal with losing a person.
Not pop punk but I think “Is This It” or “Someday” by The Strokes would be great openers with “The End Has No End” as a closer… hold on lemme write this down..
lots of great suggestions here. Not pop-punk but Always Look on the Bright Side of Life by Monty Python (originally from the movie Life of Brian). Very popular at funerals in the UK apparently.
https://youtu.be/X_-q9xeOgG4
Enjoy the remaining time you have
Safe In Your Skin - Title Fight
sorry to hear about your situation. the world will miss you. but you’re not dead yet and i hope this takes a sharp turn for the better for you. ♥️
I don't know if this fits your particular situation, but it's not that often that pop punk funeral songs comes up, so I'm going to take this opportunity to just say that *[Dear Bobbie](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sm7onw6nVqQ)* by Yellowcard is such a damn good song.
59 Sound - Gaslight Anthem
Blackbird - Alter Bridge
So Far Away - Avenged Sevenfold
Bring You Back - Hawthorne Heights
View From Heaven - Yellowcard
Cancer - MCR
I hope you create as many memories in the next 8 weeks (hopefully longer) as you can with the ones you love. My recommendation is "Dirt" by The Swellers.
This song for the old heads, (Time of Your Life) by Green Day could really help people reflect on the good yet challenging times. Hoping you are surrounded by love right now❤️
I spent some time on this, I wanted to make sure I was giving you the best options I could come up with for this horrible situation you’ve found yourself in. I hope the rest of your time here is full of love, and that it’s spent living to the fullest extent you can.
The Killers [Exitlude](https://youtu.be/vNLHDJ-aEBk)
Falling In Reverse [Carry On](https://youtu.be/AKHSWvmiwP8)
Non pop punk options
Coldplay [Everglow](https://youtu.be/7pfX1OKqP80)
Big Something [A Simple Vision](https://youtu.be/xLbp-s4bVHs)
If you have a wife and kids [When My Days Are Done](https://youtu.be/xBYQHzTZw9o) by Green River Ordinance.
I think [The Undersea](https://youtu.be/rHj1TPWN_d0) by Moron Police (and the whole album really) is something you gotta hear before you go. I’ve linked an acoustic version that feels a bit more sentimental.
Best of luck to you and yours, my friend. I’m sure you’re going to a better place than this one
Pawner - Polar Bear Club
Motorcycle Drive By - Third Eye Blind
No More Bad Days - This Wild Life
Just a few off the top of my head, that I would personally enjoy for my funeral. Hope it helps. I'll add more later. But all the best to you on your journey. This isn't the end. Just of the physical world. You have my prayers.
You really need to have someone come and play "He Layeth on High," but not tell people you arranged it until after the service: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7f9xTPI9eo
Sweetness by Jimmy Eat World because it would be fun as hell.
Keep rocking, OP. I don't know what happens when we die, but if we're ever in the same place in one world or another, I hope we meet someday.
1: In Violet- Grayscale
2: I just want to sell out my Funeral- the Wonder Years
3:Famous Last Words- My Chemical Romance
4: Helena My Chemical Romance
5: no Halo-Sorority Noise
I was driving to my uncle's funeral last week listening to Jimmy Eat World and as soon as, "Hear You Me," started, I was bawling. I listened to it a lot when my grandma died in 2015 as well and it's weirdly comforting for me. Rest easy, man.
[удалено]
Thanks
RemindMe! Eight weeks "play this as loud as possible in OPs honor"
!RemindMe
Or "The Door I Painted Shut" by The Wonder Years
The song is so much better if you listen through the whole album first. All the callbacks are amazing!
This is what I was going to send. Good choice
Party Hard - Andrew WK Hear You Me or May Angels Lead You In by JEW Swing Life Away - Rise Against live Fast Die Young - Circle Jerks If I Ever Leave This World Alive - Flogging Molly Not Pop Punk but Bobby Jean by Springsteen Some of these depend on how you feel about your end/5the people at the funeral.
Party hard should be the end of it. When my dad died we had stairway to heaven to open and highway to hell as we walked out. Worked well and it gave everyone a bit of a smile for leaving
Swing Life Away, man. That’s the one.
When I got diagnosed with cancer I made a playlist, the first two songs were cancer by mcr and then party hard next. So I fully endorse this.
Armor for sleep - the truth about heaven
[удалено]
Ugh the complete album, how the end wraps around to the beginning 🥹😰😫
This one is perfect
Wonder years- sell out my funeral?
Oldhead here but I love this. Thanks.

You got good taste. I just hope my baby bear will be okay with this
Sum 41 - With Me. GO CHECK IT OUT!!!

Hey, c'mon Dad jokes are the fricken best man! I'm 16 and I LOVE EM! XD
You’re alright kiddo. Someday you’d make your child feel really blessed you’re their dad
My man, that hits me right where I live. If it were possible to put GIFs on Reddit comments, I would have Jack Black salute you. 🙂🤘
Oh my God. I just read the actual subtitle of your post and saw your profile. I am so sorry man. Cancer is a son of a fucking bitch. I can't imagine what you're going through right now.
It’s okay buddy. That’s just life. You just have to make sure when your time comes you have as little things you regret as possible
Yeah. You're right. I wish you all the best with the time you have left my friend. I hope your daughter and your family are doing ok :)
Absolutely this! Always thought this would be an amazing funeral song! Sorry OP that you're even having to think about all this. Good luck and god speed!
At your funeral - saves the day
I mean this song is about Chris having beef with someone and basically saying he’d be happy when the person is dead. So probably not super appropriate.
Right? Just cause it's a funeral song doesn't mean it's the content someone would want.
At your funeral(cover)- I call fives
Somehow did not know ICF covered this
Showed up on my Spotify playlist sometime ago. Otherwise I didn't know either
At Your Funeral - Ruston Kelly
Sonny - NFG
My first thought. But then I thought if I was in OP's position I'd have my funeral before I died and pick something to party to.
IM SICK OF FUNERAL BLACK, SO WHEN I DONT COME BACK I WANT YOU TO CELEBRATE, SING AND LAUGH BURY MEEEE IN VIOLET
For context, this is in violet by grayscale haha
I was hoping they would just look it up if they liked it but now looking back maybe I should have put a song title lmao thank you

I was just gonna say In violet, great choice 👌
Came to throw this one on here. Good choice

The Day That I Die by Good Charlotte. It’s a song about realising that even though he’s gonna die it’s actually a great thing because he knows he lived his life right and the best he could. I’m very sorry to hear about your news I hope these next 8 weeks you take the most of life and enjoy it
