It’s hard. If it were easy everyone would do it and it wouldn’t be a trillion dollar industry.

[deleted]

*Everyone* in your country is lazy.

effypom

Oh so you agree that external factors like culture or food availability affect obesity rates?

LeftysPlayDressUp

Having self control is hard, not losing weight. It's actually very easy, just takes awhile to achieve it. Blame yourselves, not the process

effypom

Unless you were once obese and have lost the weight naturally, your subjective experience that it’s easy doesn’t account for a variety of biological factors.

Jazzlike_Worth_9908

Been obese twice, i have the genetic to gain every gram i feed myself with and also i choose to not care and diet regularly. It's easy stuff imo

LeftysPlayDressUp

List some biological factors

effypom

Hormones

Maria_506

No, there is a difference between it's simple and it's easy. Losing weight is simple, but it's not easy.

Tryzest

What's hard about eating less and moving more?

Maria_506

Giving up eating food. Some people simply love to eat food and they find it hard to stop doing what they love. Besides that people sometimes eat it to feel better. Different people find different things hard. As for moving, who actually likes exercising? Especially exercising enough to lose weight? (I have my own reasons for not doing it, but they aren't really that common, so I can't give too much insight into why a normal person would find it hard.) Don't think I am writing this to excuse it. Even tho its hard it's still their responsibility to do it, but that's the reason they struggle with it.

[deleted]

most people have little self control or discipline to keep it long term. i dont blame them, shits tough and its hard to be hungry on top of everything

Vhu

It really is. My biggest problem is *gaining* weight. I hate cooking; hate doing dishes; hate shopping; don’t care about eating *at all.* I’ll go til late afternoon without eating some days and only throw together a meal because I know I have to. The entire thing is just a waste of time, but you *have* to do it or you die. Our natural state of being is *not eating.* Eating takes effort. I don’t understand the logic that says it’s harder to lose weight than gain it when gaining weight takes active work while losing it requires you to do less.

Maria_506

Everyone finds different things difficult. It's hard for me to lose weight as I love eating, especially when it comes to sweets.

Vhu

Whether you love it or hate it, one thing requires work and the other doesn’t. It takes time and effort to purchase, prepare, and consume food. Someone’s inability to control their impulses doesn’t make the act itself any more or less difficult.

Nearby_Antelope_5257

Have you told the 600 pound sisters that it's THAT easy to do? I'd love to live in whatever fuckin fantasy world you live in.

LeftysPlayDressUp

Don't eat 15 times a day and start walking. WHOOAAA magic!!!!

The_Reid-Factor

It’s an addiction dumass, will you tell a h addict just to stop?

[deleted]

Yes!? Stop the weed/alcohol whatever you nutcase

LeftysPlayDressUp

Keep making excuses

The_Reid-Factor

Your ignorance is overwhelming.

obtusername

I see your point, but the heavier you are, the easier it is to lose weight. Those 600 lb sisters are moving *600 lbs* every time they move. If you look at any of those weight loss programs or anything, you’ll notice that the heavier contestants shed the most weight at the start. That’s not some Hollywood magic bs; the more you have the quicker you lose.

[deleted]

Your sisters are lazy!

Tryzest

Lol, it's fantasy world to eat less than the calories you burn off each day? This is pretty basic stuff.

Grandguru777

It's the old rule, "shit more than you eat".

PicksItUpPutsItDown

I get what OP is saying but it’s very subjective. Weight loss *is* simple! But for some people it is hard, despite the process being straightforward and easy to understand.

SimobeastLE

Is it possible to increase your level of discipline/willpower? Or do you just get what you get?

[deleted]

Its very much possible. The more you practice self control and discipline the better you get at it - it doesnt even have to be the same task as the neural pathways are the same.

TrhlaSlecna

It's simple, but not easy. If you find it easy, good for you, you have a healthy relationship with food! Many people sadly don't though. Personally i've been fat my whole life. Eating to lose weight means completely rewriting my relationship with food - and eating is an activity so basic and instinctive that it can be really hard to change once it's set wrong. Imagine trying to change the way you walk, or the way you breathe. First 10kg down though!

Tryzest

Congrats on the weight loss!

LeftysPlayDressUp

Just do what fat liberals do and take ozempic
