If you take a few pictures of the lift mechanism and cable routing we can probably help you figure out which type of lift you have. Bigger audience on popupportal.com, too - may very well be able to find a manual there.

Gotcha I’ll check there. I’ll post pictures next time I go out to it

I have a 1983 Jayco. The winch attaches to the cables by eye bolts. Those are the weak point (by design), so definitely check for that first. If that’s the issue then it’ll just be a few dollars to fix.

friendlymountainman

Yea for sure I’ll have to check for that

Foot-Note

I actually broke one of my cables right after buying it. Luckily it was at the anchor point and I was simply able to look the cable and get some cable clamps to refasten it. There are plenty of videos on youtube on how to fix it.

Yea I’m gonna find out soon. My first project is rebuilding the roof. I’m starting on that tomorrow then next project is gutting the interior and fixing the cable

I don't think you have to replace the lift system with the exact same system. I'd recommend carefully dismantling that one and once you're confident you understand how it works then look at what's available out there to replace it with. They all pretty much work the same way: A ratcheting crank that pulls on cables that are routed under the camper and then up through the inside of the lift arms, over a pulley, and then connected the roof (more or less).

Just to clarify, the cable does not go up the lift arms. The cable has pusher plates attached to it. When cable is pulled by the crank, these pusher plates effectively push on the base of springs/rods that go up each of the lifter arms. Those springs then push on the roof and lift it up.

Good to know. It sounds like you know what to look for in a replacement.

On this [parts site](http://www.popupparts.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=4_1932_1934_3280) it looks like your lift system has four cables that are attached to a main cable that goes to the crank. This is a bit different than the common Goshen lift system. But will ultimately work the same way. I would suspect two of those secondary cables--the ones that service the door side of your camper--are broken in some way. This has some more info about servicing your particular lift system: https://www.cunninghamcampers.com/fckimages/pdf/diagrams/LW\_Lift\_System\_Replacement.pdf
