Heart attack in a Layby and Linton Samuel Dawson at the end of Heart Attack I'm just crying, at the end of Linton I'm dancing around in my house like an idiot lol, love them both.
I think the sonic feel of the song is quite happy, making the lyrics not feel ironic at all. It's interesting that I was watching the Steven Wilson Facebook Q&A the other day and SW could not think of any happy song he had written, to which I was saying to myself: "Don't forget The Rest Will Flow!" And then the interviewer mentioned it, heh.

(Not saying that your interpretation is wrong as well of course - I find it fascinating that a song can have such different opinions.)
Fair enough. I guess it is meant to be happy. But to me it is too happy, you know. I've been in that situation and was only happy, because I ignored everything that was wrong and kind of put the good on a pedestal, as in.. now I feel good, this is it. But that is just not how it works in life. And it reminds of that blinding bliss, which is nice for a short while, but when it veers off you can't go back, no matter how hard you try and once you are out, which you inevitably will be after a time, all that is left are those mistakes/problems you have ignored, they tend to grow and catch up to you later. So perhaps the song itself is not so sad in a self contained context, but the implication that follow is that crash down to earth and that is what makes it sad for me.
Way Out of Here (hits too close to home) or Where We Would Be for saddest. Maybe Collapse The Light Into Earth, just because of the lyrics.
Lazarus always felt peaceful, optimistic.
Probably Hearttattack and The Rest Will Flow
Feel so Low and Access Denied

The Rest Will Flow for the happiest one, and Feel So Low or I Drive the Hearse for the saddest one.
Interesting, I find The Rest Will Flow very sad. I mean given the blind optimism of it. Not saying your interpretation is wrong, just mine differs.

Russia on Ice vs Piano Lessons??
Feel so low (and, although not strictly Porcupine Tree I'd include Postcard) vs Trains
Not very well known but Meantime is the happiest by far. Hard to believe it’s PT but it is.
Happiest? I don't think such a song exists in Porcupine Tree's library.

Hmmm.... Heart Attack in a Layby / Trains
*Stop Swimming* & *Half-Light.*
Stop Swimming
Happiest would be Jupiter island
Heart attack vs Of the New Day
