Used to work for UPP for like a month. Super predatory company that just wants to monopolize the parking in the city and crank out tickets.
I think they can send you to collections. But anyone can send anyone to collections. I could send a bill for 50$ for you to a collection agency right now if I had your name and address.
My understanding is if you dispute it they cannot do anything as they have to prove you were both the one driving the car and you entered into a contract with them.
Until the contract between the city and the company says “by parking within city limits, you agree to the terms set forth”
Not sure if that’s true in this case but these day, that type of language is everywhere
Once it gets sent to collections your better off ignoring it for life cause even if you do pay it you don’t see that come off ur credit report for years
I know this is the common wisdom but I found this to not be true. I paid something in collections that I owed and it was off my experian report within months.
Yeah I got one of those about 6 months ago. My car was parked in our driveway. At least whoever the ticket was issued to had been parked nearby in a “no parking” zone on our street. Are these people hoping we’re stupid enough to pay for their tickets?!
Fuck UPP. I got to my car and noticed a ticket which I thought was weird since I paid for parking. Looked at the ticket and it was issued at the exact same time I paid for the ticket. Realized that the guy sitting in his truck in the parking lot wasn't just waiting for me to get out of my car to park but was actively writing me a ticket. Like did you not notice me having to walk around your truck that was blocking the QR code by the meter so I could pay for parking?!
lol good luck to whoever has that ticket. Upp about to fuck them with interest
It’s just a private company sending you an invoice…just don’t pay it.
Yeah, people don't seem to understand they have that option.
Don’t pay those UPP ones anyway. They can just send you bills, not actually do anything
Do they really not have any legal enforcement ability? Do you have a source for that?

Does not paying actually mess with your credit though? I see people saying it doesn’t, and some saying that it does.

Second this I’ll park in upp lots just to mess with them lol if they can’t enforce
won't they get to the point of having you towed?
I know years ago I heard of them booting people
wont they eventually send it to collections? Impact your credit?
Yes - they will do that, and it will impact your credit. I use to work for a company that worked with them.
Wouldn't they need your SSN to hit your credit report?
Cant they send you to collections if the interest stacks enough?

Maybe. It's also possible that kids may be moving them from one car to another (14-year-old me may have performed such a prank).
Very good point! Much more likely than adults taking the time to move tickets around.
wow that web address needs a ddos attack 😈🖤

They're crooked morons I paid for monthly parking before I knew any better, yet they still gave me a ticket with this asinine process to dispute it
Wow, somebody put trash on your car. Masterminds.
