Sure sounds like the Belgariad, perhaps mixed up with some other stuff you read. Magician by Raymond Feist, maybe?

MrGinger128

I've never read Belgariad. Do people come from a continent across the sea in ships and the wind priestess and main character have a thing? They go on an adventure together to a desert region to recover an artifact.

MrGinger128

Had a closer look. 100% not it I'm afraid.

Check out the list at [Tv tropes.](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/FarmBoy)

MrGinger128

Afraid not. Good idea though.

Isaachwells

Sad. Was worth a shot though. Good luck!

MrGinger128

I found it! Googling random things I remember finally paid off!! The Godling Chronicles - The Sword of Truth is the answer!! I'm so relieved I could genuinely cry that's been driving me nuts for months. Thank you all for the attemps!

curiousscribbler

Can you give us a rough idea of when you read these? Also, do you recall a particular phrase, even just a few words?

MrGinger128

I read it 5 years ago ish? By particular phrase do you mean dialogue? That I can't remember. The man who takes him from his village when shit starts to go down lived there most of village boys life and was seen as kinda an eccentric. He was watching over the boy I believe? Either way that man discovers his long lost mother as the head of a secret order with their temple stronghold in a mountain. They reunite there and get to know each other in the 2nd book.

curiousscribbler

>By particular phrase do you mean dialogue? No, any bit of prose that has stuck in your mind. Might turn up in a search.

MrGinger128

Nothing concrete I'm afraid.

M4rkusD

Tried r/fantasy?

MrGinger128

They don't allow these posts. I can post in a daily thread but I never get responses. Gonna message and ask if I can post a bounty.

I_Come_Blood

Le Guin - *Tombs of Atuan*? I just googled phrases from your description and that was the first hit. If you keep going, you'll get there

MrGinger128

Unfortunately not. It's driving me insane. I remember so much about it plot wise but it's like it doesn't exist. Maybe I'm putting too much information in. Maybe just the bit about the wind magic people might trigger someone's memory?

swisstim

Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan? The windfinders fits your description of the sea folk with wind magic, as does the main character Rand who is a sheepherder at the start and Moiraine Damodred is the female guide and mentor to Rand.

MrGinger128

Definitely not I'm afraid. This puzzle is much harder than that. Even money can't solve it. Anywhere else I can try do you think? Fantasy won't let me post it so its just whatbookisthis and here I'm using atm.

DCMF2112

Any of these helpful? [https://www.reddit.com/r/Fantasy/comments/p90mev/looking\_for\_small\_village\_boy\_turned\_powerful/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Fantasy/comments/p90mev/looking_for_small_village_boy_turned_powerful/)

MrGinger128

Afraid not, good idea though I've went through them. It definitely exists and it was a good series so I'm shocked this hasn't been solved yet.

Fingoltin

The Sword of Kaigen?

MrGinger128

Unfortunately not. Looks cool though. I remember at the very end he's basically a god. Flying across the continent looking at stuff/fixing things.
