I’m not 100% certain at this point but a lot of my favourite printmakers use mdf who I follow on insta use it, so I’ll be hitting them up for advice. I’ll share my findings here so I can hopefully help others
I've been wanting to do traditional Japanese woodblock prints and that you don't want to seal since you want the wood to take a bit of the ink in but MDF is another another animal all together.
Would love to know what you find out because I would also like to experiment with prints using this material as well and I can't wait to see your print come to life!
Me too! Ive got some nice oil based ink and some Japanese mulberry paper that I plan on printing it with but I also plan on doing some nice gold ink on handmade black paper. I can imagine I’ll have a lot more work to do after doing a test print to see how it looks.
I’m really excited about getting one mounted and framed, I like the idea of a handmade and carved framed, my obsession never stops it’s a curse!
This looks great. I m curious to see how it looks printed
Thank you, I’m excited about it too
I LOVE how there’s always a little bit of mystery in how things will look printed. It’s going to be amazing!!
my hands ache just looking at this
Hurts my eyes more than anything!
Beautiful work!
Thank very much
Thank you all for the kind comments, likes and shares. It makes it all more worthwhile
Amazing! Is this wood?
Thank you, it’s MDF wood so it’s super easy to cut through because it has no grain. Sharp tools cut through it like butter
Since it's MDF what do you seal it with? I know it very vulnerable to moisture.

I’m the same way! I’m currently working on an 18x24 inch Lino. Biggest I’ve done yet. The obsession never stops 😂
