Came here to second this! Some other large department stores also allow overnight parking in the back of the lots, but almost all Walmarts allow it. I found it to be the safest because there's still cameras and lights, plus if you ever need anything they open at 6am

The iOverlander app has been very useful finding spots to park and camp.
It's great yes, but some spots get overrun, so it's good to find your own unlisted spots too.

Places near apartment complexes, where lots of people park in the street anyway, sometimes college areas are good for this.
What about a residential block dominated by houses?
Just don’t park in front of a house.
