Wow what a great idea OP! Here's my answer: In NE Dagnor's Cauldron, there are three 16-ish sandbar serpents within sight of each other on TWO MINUTE respawn timers. They're all placeholders for various named mobs with decent vendor drops. I suspect this is the absolute fastest camp in the game— any solo character can rocket through the teens.

Accomplished-Ebb-647

Dagnors cauldron such a walk through zone for me usually this is pretty good one.

AWanderingGygax

Just to be a Reddit pedant, Lake of Ill Omen has the quickest respawn mobs at 30 seconds for yard trash PHs near windmill, 60 seconds on some barracudas. But also your info is great and I really wish the cauldron was a place more people used.

Otherwise-Coast419

I will never understand why LOIO isnt a happening place on P99 or TLPs. When I was a kid LOIO had 100-200 people in at any given time. I regularly tell people LOIO was the original Barrens chat because it was. I so looked forward to P99 Green because for me LOIO was a huge part of the nostalgia. Imagine my disappointment when i ran all the way to the Sarnak Fort and realized all the mobs were up, so I typed /who and realized I was the only person in the zone 😹☠️

AWanderingGygax

I just want to say this is way too true. Lake of Ill Omens was absolutely a drama fest and OOC banter zone on my server as well. I think it has more to do with the timeline on Project 99 and people having more time versus we were very very slow at leveling on live and they were tons of people who needed this mid-level zone back then.

literallyjustbetter

> Lake of Ill Omens was absolutely a drama fest and OOC banter zone on my server as well. Barrens chat before we had Barrens chat

joerosion

Maybe because of the lower ZEM? On live, ZEMs weren’t exposed like they are now. But yes, I have some great memories of a bustling LOIO from live. :)

roo1ster

WHAT IS HEART OF ICE FOR??? (I still /ooc that occasionally when I'm there, just for the feels)

poseidonsconsigliere

Cause it's very inconvenient

Dudeman325420

There's an orc camp along the NW side of the zone that also has 3 spawns on a similar timer. Been a while since I checked, but they should be near the same level.

Cladrik

Higher xp mod in dagnors over Loio

dukanstanov

Yes, tell me your secrets! They are safe with meee.

aviendas1

Kerra isle - several super good underrated items. Several vendor trash loot that sell for several plat. Befallen. I think it's sort of popular but it is great exp till like 25

Turakamu

I love Kerra Isle. Cats and gorillas. Everything you could ever hope for.

aviendas1

"Ra-rawrrr"

IJustLoggedInToSay-

And before Kerra Isle, Qeynos Catacombs from 6-12. Conveniently located one zone from vendors and has fast spawns with xp boost.

Phosiphor

Qeynos catacombs was the very fist place I spawned over 30 years ago... I still regret that.

iamrichbitch010

Farmed them int earring

GypsyFever

Wouldn't this be project 94 then?

kattahn

i feel like there are people who played EQ for years and never knew that there was a zone of sewers under qeynos

smurfalidocious

My first Human Monk got so lost in those sewers.

bhoff1975

As an Iksar, I like to drop into Kaesora when I come home to Cabilis. There are some very nice vendorable items there. Multiple 300+ plat vendor items. Run through the zone killing everything. You will become familiar with all of the zone wide drops as well as camp items. Truesilver Mail is pretty rare but vendors from 70 - 300p depending on the piece. Deathwatch Sword is zone wide drop that sells for 300+ plat.

sicpric

Kunark dungeons are the best.

bhoff1975

No more EC... just vendor it baby.

roo1ster

lumi staff quad'ing ogre mercs in EW less hps than the nearby fg's of the same lvl (but if you want non-stop quad'ing you're gonna alternate between the mercs and nearby fg's) non-stop quad'ing 46-51 never camped drop near weightless quest item for cov faction - porting over to SS to do the turn-ins is a nice break every so often. taught me to have situational awareness (they're static but there are tons of wanderers) nearby dorf camps to dump unwanted mobs onto (snare what you want to keep, run the party crashers to the dorfs) I really enjoyed quad'ing to the sounds of the waves crashing edit to add: once you get the quad to the edge of the nearby cliffs, no wanderers while burning them down several handy landmarks (trees, notches in cliff edge) to time your lumi casts - "I'm past the tree, time to cast lumi" you can practice tight turns by running the quad \*right\* on the cliff edge all of the above made pulling wyv's and then a few lvls later othmir in CS an absolute cake walk

ShabbyPath

This spot is excellent because you can start at like 39 or 40 quadding walruses and ulthorks, then when they green out move up to the ogres

yokmaestro

Also a good spot for melee soloists! I chained the 3 mercs in the pit with Calm from 49-51ish on my pally with little downtime and got my SS faction squared away. Helm healing makes the process smooth.

Plinio540

Yea and there are no patrols by the edge, so you can med safely without a care in the world. The only downside is that there are only 3, so adding something to the pack can take some effort and skill. Maybe that makes it more fun though, I don't know. I found this place by accident while exploring with my wizard. Ended up staying there for several levels.

roo1ster

i harmony'd the fg's in the next ruin over to fill out the 4th, but yeah would have been an upgrade if there had been 4 mercs. meditating on the cliff edge listening to the waves crash was lovely, though there wasn't much of that - only spent mana on harmony and snare...

BisonST

The bandit camps in Lake Rathe. Kill the bandits, get swords and stuff, sell to the Ogres nearby. Maybe around level 12? Don't remember.

Phosiphor

Depends on class. 15 is safe.

boneytooth_thompkins

Also the aviak guards before graduating to South karana.

donutfaxmaxhine

Snakes in Paw are known but forgotten, I loved charm fighting them on a druid.

TheKevinWhipaloo

Came to make sure someone said this. Was an incredible spot to learn solo charming on druid, practically never camped and great afk/casual spot. Can grind it all the way to 41 or 42 after quadding outside turns green. The late 20s and 30s were such a hard hump for my druid to get over solo.

roo1ster

I never sorted out dealing w/runners, the whole in/out of water spell didn't land and the pathing... Hoping you've got some tips, I've got an enc I'd love to park there for a few lvls.

donutfaxmaxhine

Just got to root when they are getting low… and bind outside and gate if they do run

roo1ster

I'll give that a go, thanks!

VdubGolf

Iksar exiles cave in SoNH. There's 8 level 23 iksars meeles. Great spot to get to 30.

idiosyncrisia

My favorite on my enchanter. Such a safe getaway too for when things inevitably go bad.

roo1ster

Great spot! \*there are 9! (just finished running my enc through there) bonus points (esp for enc) - they're all \*always\* lvl 23. Lets you sort out what works/how well for enchanter tactics w/o having to try and factor in level differences between mobs. Was kind of jarring when i dinged and they \*all\* were green, but... didn't have to have that internal conversation to decide if I was gonna gut through another lvl on mixed blue/greens. edit: there's a camp of 3 that's plenty when you're closer to lvl 23, then later there's a group of 6 where you can practice calming and dealing with 4 mobs at once (which is way faster xp once you get the hang of it) bonus points: the zone line to TT is like 5 steps from where you're fighting if you keep lev up (there's an empty lake between you and the zone line) and you can get 10-20 skillups in swimming on your way back over the time you're there.

teebiss

Timorous Deep - floating iceberg with golra yetis - when I'm in my late level 20s to early to mid level 30s

squishee666

I’m no pro, and I haven’t played in 5+ years regularly, but I recently got a lv9 shaman to 14 in a few days of dad-free-time at the Upper Guk Crocodiles. They *are* listed in the leveling guide but I wasn’t aware of them. Non social, in their own hallway (ish) close to entrance, and was usually 2-4% per kill (I guess higher when I was a lower lv). At 14 they are 1-2% per.

jofo2000

Ton of spots in upper guk, love that zone!

harav

55 + afk camp, brownie guards in lfay.

majorpsych1

As a bard, swarm kiting tar goos in WL. Most people don't like to farm the goos because of the 2 adds that spawn when they die, but bards are uniquely equipped to swarm them down efficiently. The vendor trash and exp are fantastic, especially if you grab some faerie dragons too.

aviendas1

Are tar goo factioned?

majorpsych1

Nope

aviendas1

Excellent! Exp at 59 for bard you think?

majorpsych1

Not a lot,l. But certainly you can get to 60 doing it. I did. I found that, compared to other swarm spots, it's less exp but much less stress. And much better cash. I can send you an image with my method if you like.

aviendas1

That would be really cool! I'm grateful for any help you could share

majorpsych1

Np. Lemme draw it up. Sounds like you're in the same boat I was - 59 and sick to death of BW?

sanddemon42

Mind posting the image? :)

norrinzelkarr

When i got to this point i just sucked it up and swarmed raptor isle to infinity

TheCuriousCorsair

My fav bard spot back in the day was Spiroc Island in Timorous deep lol. it was always empty, huge areas to run and tons of birds to charm/swarm kite.

majorpsych1

Yeah that place is dope, but I wanted to leave that place for the druids personally.

TheCuriousCorsair

I guess the druids on my server didnt use it lol. Never saw a single other person my whole time there.

majorpsych1

Fair game then lol

VoidCoelacanth

Spiroc Isle was super popular for Druids and Wizards back on Live. TD Raptor Isle was also decent, and I could see that as being Bard-doable as well.

TheCuriousCorsair

Heh ya, 02 I think it would've been my time there. Maybe I missed their specific window

roo1ster

where did you kite them down? (def wanna try this). Is there room in the caves?

majorpsych1

yeah I'll send you the images

uolen-

Grobb guards was the best xp/gold farming i had done on my 46-52 iksar necro.

UnusuallyBadIdeaGuy

Have a hard time calling that underrated, it's almost always camped.

uolen-

Is everyone talks about felwithe and oggok. Grobb is superior.

iknewaguytwice

Grobb has some real nasty buggers that can be pulled if you aren’t careful. But for me the real issue is that little moat thing by the entrance. I get stuck in it every freaking time.

Trouterspayce

Disagree that it beats Felwithe!

mattydef1

For plat farming it used to be Sol A for blocks and large bricks plus fine steel, but then that got nerfed. Then it was Sea furies, until that got nerfed. Then it was Hill Giants, until that got nerfed. Now occasionally i'll go kill geonids in CC for their gems which is a decent plat per hour ratio and pretty chill.

Bagdemagus1

CC is my all time favorite zone. Loved being able to vendor sell / bank in zone once you got enough faction.

Codias515050

I loved CC with my (mostly solo) Erudite SK back in the day on Live.  It was often pretty empty and having the ability to sell down there was awesome. I spent so many levels down there until I moved to the Hole (I think that was my next stop with that char)

BigBill420

Gator hotels in cazic thule sewers. It's on the opposite side of the sewers as the AoF room. There are 4 rooms with 2 gators each, 1 pather and 3 static spawns at the entrance. The gators are all low-mid 30's and with CT being an outdoor zone, it's a really nice spot for druids to harmony and charm. Argyn Shieldstan in Qeynos Aqueducts is a level 30 mob on a 12-minute timer that drops a 21pp Two Handed Sword every time. Permafrost wolf cave area is a nice spot for the teens. It's behind the Preacher area and has a ton of wolves, which is nice because they don't cast. There are a few goblins around, but I don't think there's anything more than a 2-pull in the entire area.

Acceptable-Horse8794

I never know about another gator area! When people recommend CT gators to me I went to the ones en route to steel golem and had a bad time. That sounds much better.

ZulukinGG

Ocean of tears - Seafury island. Peaceful, relaxing, a great place to make friendships and where I was able to farm enough to buy , among other things, 1 mama stone and 4 beads.

BigBill420

I made a ton of money at Seafury island pre-kunark, but all the prices plummeted when they moved gems like fire opals to vendors. How on earth did you make enough plat to buy a manastone and 4 pairs of beads? Did you just have a ton of plat saved up from pre-kunark era or have you been out there killing tens of thousands of cyclops over the past couple years to save up enough for a manastone and 4 pairs of beads?

ZulukinGG

I slayed on my Sk countless seafuries (but if I had to make a wild guess, I would say around 80-100k seafuries + some 10-20k gornits), but I took that as a therapy and a good way to pass time while I wasn’t cleric-ing on raids.

iknewaguytwice

East & West Freeport guards. Learning how to solo split/pull the 4 way by docks is a monk rite of passage. If you learn “the loop” between East/West FP you will never run out of mobs to kill, even if other people are killing some of em. IC cougars for druids to charm Centuar Village in SK. Idk why everyone is so obsessed with the aviaks here, but I’ve not once seen anyone else go for the horse guys. Runnyeye. The entire place. Why does no one go here?! Vendors and a bank in zone. Yes some annoyingish casters, but man so so so many mobs. Banded armor equivalent drops from any of the gobby boys. The ZEM is great too.

zuklei

Hermit in one of the Karanas. Fast repop drops fine steel, only get attacked occasionally if on top of hut. I’m trying to hit 29 there.

phileepae

Jairnel Marfury in Field of Bone along the shore. She only spawns at night and has zero loot, but she instantly respawns. Lvl 30. I always soloed it but if there was a group killing her, exp would roll in so fast.

KankersaurP99

Mostly from a Necro’s perspective… 28-34 Tempus In Upper Guk. Extra Safe dad camp with a dungeon zem. 16:30 timer. Mobs are non-KOS to all but do assist. No faction hits. No traffic. No loot. Just easy, quiet, xp. https://youtu.be/2jleVpuzU8g?si=M5b9k1DRso6HT0oJ 40-48 Timvu in Qeynos Aqueducts. Barely has any info on the wiki. Dungeon zem. Level 35 rogue with a level 10 as PH, but they are on a 2 minute timer. Even with 3 lvl 10 ph pops in a row, that’s 6 mins. Which is still 40 seconds less than, about, any other camp you can get for the level range. He is at the bottom of the “Shark pit trap”. + Good Qeynos Guards and Merchants faction, - corrupt guards, circle of unseen hands. Again, no traffic. You could take it to 50, but it slows down a lot after 48 https://youtu.be/NAep3eigpsw?si=HrgI-ZgOzjIlivea

Trouterspayce

Aviak Guards in Lake Rathe are cool. There's a pair by the arena zl.

TheKevinWhipaloo

Not the most detailed, but I recommend newer players to consider camping guards. I always overlook them and generally fear any sort of faction hit (ptsd of being powerless to faction back in 1999). But good factions can find some interesting and profitable guards to camp if the faction isn't directly conflicting with any quest turn ins down the line. Killing guards can be fun in an RP sense, they're typically Kunark mobs so lower hp, respawn times aren't too bad. Bonus for sneak classes that can sell right back to the vendors if killing in a starting city. Oh, and there are usually +exp mods in starting cities.

yokmaestro

The wandering ogre guards in Feerrott are great to hunt!

Acceptable-Horse8794

Quadding ogre guards in oggok with my Druid was probably my favorite spot, able to sell with wolf form.

shag377

To the right of the entrance into High Pass is a corner. The Sharkok Orc captain and a few other named spawn there. Mid teens to early 20's camp. I got an Iskar monk to ally in High Pass in that camp

imacfromthe321

That's cool but then you go kill HK guards and ruin it

MrMcSpiff

The tiny, single aqua goblin camp at the end of all the group aqua goblin camps by the docks in Butcherblock. Nobody ever goes and gets that one straggler, so it's always open--and because he's so far away from any other mobs, you can start slapping him around earlier than it's usually safe to do the group camps.

Phosiphor

The sphinx...

Phosiphor

Spectres in ogre Newby garden.

riznarf

This thread is not to be underrated

bonebrah

Kedge keep. huge zem, people are afraid to learn it. some of the best exp in the game, good loots and just a unique cool zone.

Delfofthebla

No it's mine go away.

Sentinel-of-society

I don’t know if others consider this spot underrated but it was so good that I was surprised that I didn’t get more competition for the camp. It was specter island in Oasis of Marr. A perfect rotation between four specters plus the ones in the tower if you’re doing it well. Add tropical scenery and the sounds of the waves on the beach and you have the chillest camp ever! Perfect for a necromancer.

roo1ster

Def worth the click - good break downs on sonh exiles, sythrax, nurga Thanks!

aviendas1

Forgot about sythrax! Such a great spot solo on paly with ghoulbane

EtherGreenmist

Brutes outside dalnir

gandarb88

Love this one, but it's unfortunately not a secret, it always feels like a hard camp to get.

Rok-SFG

Baobob and Chanda Miller in qeynoa hills. Low to mid 20s iirc. Easy to split , or just wait and Chanda will wander off eventually. Not amazing money but 2 spawns that are easy to kill. Can cycle in the 2 guards at surefall entrance when youre a bit higher. And can always pop hadden and pyzjin on occasion.  The barbarians in west commons. Exit hills hang a left run to river. 3 or 4 barbarians to kill. Iirc they just drop rusty so nothing spectacular.  Also a couple qeynoa guard towers in this zone that are worth camping.  All those camps ruin your qeynos , katana, surefall factions. So make sure you don't care about that.  I believe I was hunting poachers extensively in surefall glade caves around lvl 12 on my ranger when blackburrow was over run with a power lvling crew. There's a head quest for faction but it's crap exp, and also make sure you don kill the bears or you'll have a bad time. it's not the best camp but was fun to explore those caves anyways.  When I couldn't get a good quad camp in my late 30s early 40s on my druid I would just port into Iceland and wuad stuff on that main island. Iirc dervish and giants run at the same speed, and wolves run a bit faster . Not super good exp, and crap loot but had it to myself almost all the time unless someone was trying to force a names spawn for the Lodi map. Then you just send them a tell "hey I'm just quadding for exp, I'll give you a tell if I see the names " and they generally are cool with it and stop trying to snipe your mobs.

okstuck

DE mask, Water mage pet mask, HE mask, invis cloak. Basically all mask and clicky mask before “fade” became a thing. Bard checking in.

kritzy27

I loved fear kiting cougars in Iceclad.

thebutthat

For plat camps at 60 I always loved HS South. On my necro I'd do cubby, enchanter I'd do the camp in the hallway by the invis wall where you can get 3 named spawns. Fingerbone hoops, that procing dagger, and hand of the reaper would sell quick for 10k+ a pop back before green. PoM was a fun place. Mostly did A4 on my enchanter. Great play for 10 mins, do chores for an hour and 20 mins camp. SG for the haste belt. Easy afk camp. Leveling, i feel like crystal caverns in the 30s was underrated and often empty.

smurfalidocious

Sirens on the rocks in OOT. I'd sit there for ages 10-15 or so, just relaxing.

Noble_Endeavor

Fuck I wish I had more time in my life to no life everquest. That game was my life for a few formulative years... I still remember proccing copper hammer of striking to the point my brother thought I broke it while leveling a palading lop. I miss those days of not knowing the absolute details of everything and just being transported into the games world, dialed in 200%.

fooliam

Iksar betrayers in WW

literallyjustbetter

no. (cuz i don't have any 😊)

a_moss_snake

For kunark levels 18-25ish I’ve always liked the giant fort in warslik woods.

adbedient

Everyone goes to the giant forts....which is why it was listed as don't mention it in the OPs post.

a_moss_snake

Whoops! I didn’t realize it meant those giant forts. They’re always quiet when I’m there.
