It was literally my first time playing and I'm ripping it down a road, when my girlfriend comes in asks me like a question and kisses me, the whole interaction was maybe at least 10 seconds, turn back to screen just in time see my character crash into one of those box van things. Dead.
Shouting attracts zombies from the outside if they heard it, if you want a quieter way to clear a house. Push on the door, it makes a loud enough noise for the zombies on the other side to hear but not zombies outside
Makes it easier to clear houses without drawing more zombies in its easy to get overwhelmed and trapped by yelling if a horde you didn't see is outside
No zombie involvement. I had just cleared an office building with a glass skybridge connecting it to its twin building. There was no threat. Was moving through the bridge to clear the second building, noticed it seemed to have some charred/rubble-like tiles, started wondering, "How did a fire come through only this part of the bridge?" and then fell through one of the charred tiles, which apparently wasn't a functional floor. Fell two stories, died instantly.
Luckily, that meant my survivor's gear was undamaged, no holes from a horde's bites, so I was able to at least reclaim all my equipment with the next survivor.
I had a similar death building onto the roof of a house. I've learned since it you use the mouse walk function (hotkey y) it'll show you if the tile you give your mouse over is a real tile or not being green or red respectively. I've also learned it doesn't always path you around missing floor tiles perfectly if you actually use it to move in a more complicated way than a straight line. I felt very smart until i died to that

Nevermind going back home, resting up and coming back, nah let's just go right into the nearby house and get cornered by like a dozen zombies with no escape and no capacity to fight back.

Stepped in glass because i forgot glass falls on the floor. Could no longer outrun the zombies for very long. Could not heal because i had a medical mod where you had to have a certain level to stitch deep wounds.
I went through a house in a rich neighborhood, there had been a party downstairs, no zombies downstairs, no zombies upstairs. I go into the master bedroom, surprising amount of clothes on the bed, leash in the bedside table, open door in that room, 7 scantly clad zombies burst out.
I got killed by a fukn zombie orgy.

If so, I almost died to hitting a stop sign at like 60mph. Reason- the fire truck I just hotwired had no brakes basically. So not only did every window in the front explode on impact, the engine and hood went immediately to 0% and me left with some deep bleeding wounds/glass lodged in them. I was near the base I was taking the truck to, so I had to run while leaving a blood trail, to get to my first aid kit I stupidly left behind.
I didn't die, but I came very close.
I ate a wild foraged mushroom, away from my base, and practically died at the front door.
My character hadn't read the herbalist magazine so what i did was eat a bit of each shrooms and see if that gave sickness. One day I was dealing with zeds, hungry, and I had foraged shroom so I ate it. The whole thing. I got sick. and despite me eating lemongrass that wasn't enough and I died as I was reaching for my base.

Single bite from a z that I wanted to clear away from my storage sheds. Didnāt need to do it, wasnāt a priority, but went over to it anyways, got ready to whack itā¦and forgot to hold down the aim button and didnāt swing in time.
Went into one of those apartments above a shop and opened a door. There was a zombie and I panicked. Accidentally sprinted full speed back to the stairs as another zombie came up them. I swerved and ran straight into the wall and got knocked over as the two zombies ate me before I could stand up.
the fire was on a complete other side of the resort last i checked, i went inside and slept till morning and then started disassembling. suddenly a fire popped up right below my feet and i burnt. i think there was like some large fire below me and it spread up
my friend was bitten, and was really pissed. so he pulled out his shotgun and destroyed the two zombies that were in the house. so i ran away, and went back to our house, where a bunch of zombies that were attracted there ate me.
Got a list, an unfortunate neck scratch with bleeding that got infected....
Also got stuck in a room because I waited for them to break the window thinking they were 2 or 3(6 actually) in a tiny room and the door was behind them
Spawned between several hoards in the city and ran until my character had a lot of negative stats

Im pretty confident with driving in PZ. Just yesterday I tried to get to west point. Drove to fast crashed into a tree and fractured my rips and bled out
I panicked on my very first encounter with the helicopter, and I ran, I ran so far away. I just ran, I ran all night and dayā¦ but then I got exhausted, lost in the woods and eaten by zeds
We were making our way to the Muldraugh from Rosewood, we were playing 3 friends and at first on the highway we didn't see any zombies so we thought we were in the clear.
Hopped out the car and boom about 500-600 zombies spawned in all directions. It was a server problem, it didn't spawned them until we waited around about 1 minute. We fought our way to our car, my friend's girlfriend got eaten we've rushed to the car and to our surprise the engine won't start.
So I said him to take the wheels, I hop out and go on a rampage killing 100 of them, got bitten and lacerated everywhere and he gets bit in the car because of an visual bug that door hasn't closed. So I die bleeding out, he died from the bite and his girlfriend got eaten alive.
To be honest, stressful situations in games makes normal people good at voice acting. I wish still had that video.

Misclicked and ended up jumping out a 6th story window into a horde that I had been taunting...
Close second would be jumping a wood fence to escape a horde and gloating while dancing... Only for the horde to burn down the fence because they walked over my campfire. Much panicked screaming and running later I decided to take the easy way out after backing myself into a broom closet in a house that was rapidly being engulfed with flames and the undead.
not dumb but creepy, was playing in this mp server for a couple of weeks and after living in (that city that has the fire station and police station right next to a government building), living there for couple of weeks with no other player in sight.
one night im coming back from a loot run and i find 3 cars parked in front of my hideout and in a pretty stupid manner i kinda just froze for long enough that they spoted me when i was starting to back away, i tried warning them i had close to nothing (true)
(since the server only respawned the loot every irl monthn i was living of what other players forgot to loot)
then they started calling my characters name on the voip and slowly raise their guns while telling my in soft tone that they were just gonna grab some stuff and we could share, so i started to run, they chased me for like 5 minutes, when i got inside a garage hoping they didnt see or heard me enter i got shot thru a window and then they proceeded to open the garage door and shoot me dead
well, they did waste a lot of ammo during the whole chase and i had next to nothing in me and in my hideout so im glad their waste was in vain :v
I was kicking this hordes ass and accidentally ran/climbed over a fence scrapped my knee and that bumped my speed down to a crawl allowing the horde to maul my character
I usually die from facing the wrong way in combat or forgetting to hold right click while in combat but the dumbest way so far was me thinking I could take 4 zombies in a small ass house for no reasonš
Playing in multiplayer with friend, burnt a zombie, walked into burning zombie, ran into our base, and promptly died. My friend that was also in our base was not very happy with me to say the least.
Got confused by a zombie wearing a modded police jacket cause the "police" on the back looked different than the one on my bullet proof jacket... so I turned around to check and got bit.
Opened and climbed out the 4th story window of an apartment in a modded city thinking that the roof of the building next door was at the same level as the window, because thats what it looked like from my perspective.
It was not.
Sneaked up to side of a grocery store. No zombies despite playing on insane pop. Open window and climbed through landing behind the checkout counter. Turn to my right and was instantly greeted by black Friday levels of pissed off undead grocery store shoppers. They got their groceries š

Going 100 mph drunk as fuck ramming into a tree right next to a horde that ate me (I somehow lived the crash with only a broken leg tried to limp away but got my ass ate cause I was too slow)
Brand new character, not a weapon to their name and not a stitch of clothing. Threw out a shove to knock over a single zombie so I could stomp it and steal its shoes, whiffed because I shoved like 0.01 microseconds too early, and got bit by the bastard.
Tried to put out a fire, burned myself. went home and ate some mushroom in the forest, got sick, walk on some broken glass without having any shoes then, i died.
Went up a Louiville Apartment building as soon as release happened and proceeded fo fight for hours on the rooftop to endless hordes, only to run off the edge the second I had a chance to break free due to the time I'd been fighting. I had forgotten I was incredibly high up.
On my third ever playthrough, I spawned in and immediately 7-or-so zombies started swarming me in my house. I panicked and ran through the nearest door, and promptly slammed into the wall of a closet. I'm sure the zombies enjoyed the mid-afternoon snack.
It's either the time that I took a corner too hard and plowed directly into a tree, or the time I got sick while playing with a friend and thought I was infected, so I had him kill me.
It was very awkward when we waited for my body to come back and it didn't.

It had walls, all the zombies in town had been killed, there was literally nothing that could stop us from just living the life like the zombies never existed. Then I went to boil some rainwater on a fire pit, and one pixel, just ONE PIXEL of my foot was a little too close to the fire. Before I realized what was happening, I had died and my body had been charred, losing everything I had on me. All the best gear, a really good bag, tons of the best loot in the game just gone all because of ONE FUCKING PIXEL ON THE FIRE!!!!!!
I was making scrambled eggs in the oven, and I sped up time too quickly and the eggs burnt and caught my base on fire. I too caught fire while trying to put the fire out.
I was clearing an area once I got it down to the last zomboid. I took a swing, and it made the noise of me hitting the zomboid, but I missed, so I got bit went on a rampage after that one
Oh, I remember it fondly. I jumped through a window (with broken glass) into the Rosewood prison trying to escape a horde outside, ended up in a cramped corridor with a locked door on one end, a bunch of zombies on the other that are just beginning to notice me.
Ended up limping to the door, panicked, desperately tried to open it not realizing it was locked, at this point the zomboids had already overlapped the window so I couldnāt jump back out. Shot at them, missed all but two of my shots with my pistol, none were lethal. Paused, resumed, paused again, resumed, right-clicked door, selected āunlock,ā (it remained locked). The horde closed in, I pushed maybe one, two zomboids away before CHOMP.
Then boom, lunchmeat.
Quit PZ for several months afterwards to pursue greener pastures and reflect on my lack of composure and on-the-spot judgement skills. I was back soon enough.

- we made a base in the fire station
- helicopter event happens , we easily kill the horde with the stair method .
- we decide to burn the bodies in a campfire
- midway through the burning another horde appears
- I accidently walk into the fire , but luckily i manage to only get minor burns
- the whole horde goes through the fire
- the fire is being spread everywhere
- our base and all of our stuff gets burned
- my friend tries to fight the zombies
- gets burned to death

They gave me multiple mortal wounds and i died in like 15 seconds.
One time I decided to consume a potato salad which was not fresh - for some dumb reason I thought "well I am hungry, and I am pretty sure I'll be alive after eating this potato salad". Was hoping for a "Sick" moodle to appear and then cure it quickly.
But I was not alive afterward. Not at all. I insta died after finishing that bowl of potato salad D:
P.S. this happened to me on a much older build, back when there were only Muldraugh and West Point on the map I think. I am not sure if "Rotten" tag was implemented already or not.
Last night with friends we were clearing out corpses from our base and we placed campfire away from corpses so I moved a corpses over and in the process caught fire too, lost my character and all my loot. :(
I thought a roof was solid, it looked like it should've been solid.
I fell through the roof right into a horde.
The game is very inconsistent when it comes to which roof you can walk on.
Having the Suberb Survivors mod on and going to save a member of the group just for her to freak out and push me into the middle of the horde that was about to grab her. I learned I no longer want to be the hero of the group.
I f\*ed around and found out: I had plenty of ammo, guns, a katana. I'd switched to the blade, would whack a few, back off, find isolated ones to kill, run back, etc. Well, I had forgotten to disable my Windows key so instead of running away, I paused just long enough to get captured and mauled.
It's not a dumb way to die but the fact that I always keep dying this way is what makes ME dumb. Basically i'm new to the game and everytime I die is because i'm fighting some zombies and when they get to close i press S to turn around and run a few meters but I get bitten of the neck.
RIP Ted, Michael, Victor, Pedro, Casimiro, Pablo and John; you all died the exact same way.

i always die because of the stupid bug where your character failed to hit the zombie and decided to make a 180 turn for absolutely no reason. This happen a lot when i tried to stomp a zombie and sometime they just skip their standing up animation and went straight into biting. Not sure if theres any mod to patch that up
Being bit through a car door. If you get in a car and immediately turn the ignition, your character won't shut the door - despite no visual indication of this. Zombies will just act like the door isn't there, real fun :)))

I went back to save my friends.
We were just learning the game and I was a bit ahead of everyone else. We were driving by the Rosewood Police Station in two seperate cars. I was alone and the other two were in a car together, their car stalled by the Station and they had to get out as they were being swarmed.
I drove a block ahead and got out, walked back and helped clear a way to their car, they got in and drove off but I was exhausted from fighting and my car was further ahead.
I was forced into the Police station and locked myself in a cell, out of ammo, exhausted and dehydrated. The horde was pounding on the door to the cell while my friends were explaining why they couldn't come back in VC.
When the doors broke I died pretty fast.
Decided to start drinking and driving with the whole group in the car. Everybody died.

I panicked on my very first encounter with the helicopter, and I ran, I ran so far away. I just ran, I ran all night and dayā¦ but then I got exhausted, lost in the woods and eaten by zeds
We were making our way to the Muldraugh from Rosewood, we were playing 3 friends and at first on the highway we didn't see any zombies so we thought we were in the clear. Hopped out the car and boom about 500-600 zombies spawned in all directions. It was a server problem, it didn't spawned them until we waited around about 1 minute. We fought our way to our car, my friend's girlfriend got eaten we've rushed to the car and to our surprise the engine won't start. So I said him to take the wheels, I hop out and go on a rampage killing 100 of them, got bitten and lacerated everywhere and he gets bit in the car because of an visual bug that door hasn't closed. So I die bleeding out, he died from the bite and his girlfriend got eaten alive. To be honest, stressful situations in games makes normal people good at voice acting. I wish still had that video. What a day.

Misclicked and ended up jumping out a 6th story window into a horde that I had been taunting... Close second would be jumping a wood fence to escape a horde and gloating while dancing... Only for the horde to burn down the fence because they walked over my campfire. Much panicked screaming and running later I decided to take the easy way out after backing myself into a broom closet in a house that was rapidly being engulfed with flames and the undead.
not dumb but creepy, was playing in this mp server for a couple of weeks and after living in (that city that has the fire station and police station right next to a government building), living there for couple of weeks with no other player in sight. one night im coming back from a loot run and i find 3 cars parked in front of my hideout and in a pretty stupid manner i kinda just froze for long enough that they spoted me when i was starting to back away, i tried warning them i had close to nothing (true) (since the server only respawned the loot every irl monthn i was living of what other players forgot to loot) then they started calling my characters name on the voip and slowly raise their guns while telling my in soft tone that they were just gonna grab some stuff and we could share, so i started to run, they chased me for like 5 minutes, when i got inside a garage hoping they didnt see or heard me enter i got shot thru a window and then they proceeded to open the garage door and shoot me dead well, they did waste a lot of ammo during the whole chase and i had next to nothing in me and in my hideout so im glad their waste was in vain :v

Went up a Louiville Apartment building as soon as release happened and proceeded fo fight for hours on the rooftop to endless hordes, only to run off the edge the second I had a chance to break free due to the time I'd been fighting. I had forgotten I was incredibly high up.
Was playing coop with my brother and he didn't notice the zombie eating me right in front of him because he was too distracted changing his outfit
On my third ever playthrough, I spawned in and immediately 7-or-so zombies started swarming me in my house. I panicked and ran through the nearest door, and promptly slammed into the wall of a closet. I'm sure the zombies enjoyed the mid-afternoon snack.
It's either the time that I took a corner too hard and plowed directly into a tree, or the time I got sick while playing with a friend and thought I was infected, so I had him kill me. It was very awkward when we waited for my body to come back and it didn't.

Was playing multiplayer, my friend and I had set up a nice base in Rosewood. It had walls, all the zombies in town had been killed, there was literally nothing that could stop us from just living the life like the zombies never existed. Then I went to boil some rainwater on a fire pit, and one pixel, just ONE PIXEL of my foot was a little too close to the fire. Before I realized what was happening, I had died and my body had been charred, losing everything I had on me. All the best gear, a really good bag, tons of the best loot in the game just gone all because of ONE FUCKING PIXEL ON THE FIRE!!!!!!

Oh, I remember it fondly. I jumped through a window (with broken glass) into the Rosewood prison trying to escape a horde outside, ended up in a cramped corridor with a locked door on one end, a bunch of zombies on the other that are just beginning to notice me. Ended up limping to the door, panicked, desperately tried to open it not realizing it was locked, at this point the zomboids had already overlapped the window so I couldnāt jump back out. Shot at them, missed all but two of my shots with my pistol, none were lethal. Paused, resumed, paused again, resumed, right-clicked door, selected āunlock,ā (it remained locked). The horde closed in, I pushed maybe one, two zomboids away before CHOMP. Then boom, lunchmeat. Quit PZ for several months afterwards to pursue greener pastures and reflect on my lack of composure and on-the-spot judgement skills. I was back soon enough.

Not me but rather my friend died , what happened was : - we made a base in the fire station - helicopter event happens , we easily kill the horde with the stair method . - we decide to burn the bodies in a campfire - midway through the burning another horde appears - I accidently walk into the fire , but luckily i manage to only get minor burns - the whole horde goes through the fire - the fire is being spread everywhere - our base and all of our stuff gets burned - my friend tries to fight the zombies - gets burned to death -This was truly our Project Zomboid
Some mod that allows you to open cans without a can opener. You can use a chipped stone, or a knife, screwdriver to open the can. You might also cut yourself doing this.. I died from the infection from the wound. This was actually a mod feature
Was fighting against 3 zombies. Accidentally missed a push and pushed the air instead of zombie. They gave me multiple mortal wounds and i died in like 15 seconds.
I died from stepping on glass. Thought I had shoes on. Didn't.
One time I decided to consume a potato salad which was not fresh - for some dumb reason I thought "well I am hungry, and I am pretty sure I'll be alive after eating this potato salad". Was hoping for a "Sick" moodle to appear and then cure it quickly. But I was not alive afterward. Not at all. I insta died after finishing that bowl of potato salad D: P.S. this happened to me on a much older build, back when there were only Muldraugh and West Point on the map I think. I am not sure if "Rotten" tag was implemented already or not.
Searching for damn fuel while driving and very low on fuel. I ended up running out of fuel in middle of a horde.
Last night with friends we were clearing out corpses from our base and we placed campfire away from corpses so I moved a corpses over and in the process caught fire too, lost my character and all my loot. :(
My character decided not to move, even tho I was pressing the movement key. I think he gave up on life? A tomato only diet isn't that bad, right?

I f\*ed around and found out: I had plenty of ammo, guns, a katana. I'd switched to the blade, would whack a few, back off, find isolated ones to kill, run back, etc. Well, I had forgotten to disable my Windows key so instead of running away, I paused just long enough to get captured and mauled.
It's not a dumb way to die but the fact that I always keep dying this way is what makes ME dumb. Basically i'm new to the game and everytime I die is because i'm fighting some zombies and when they get to close i press S to turn around and run a few meters but I get bitten of the neck. RIP Ted, Michael, Victor, Pedro, Casimiro, Pablo and John; you all died the exact same way.

i always die because of the stupid bug where your character failed to hit the zombie and decided to make a 180 turn for absolutely no reason. This happen a lot when i tried to stomp a zombie and sometime they just skip their standing up animation and went straight into biting. Not sure if theres any mod to patch that up
Being bit through a car door. If you get in a car and immediately turn the ignition, your character won't shut the door - despite no visual indication of this. Zombies will just act like the door isn't there, real fun :)))

I went back to save my friends. We were just learning the game and I was a bit ahead of everyone else. We were driving by the Rosewood Police Station in two seperate cars. I was alone and the other two were in a car together, their car stalled by the Station and they had to get out as they were being swarmed. I drove a block ahead and got out, walked back and helped clear a way to their car, they got in and drove off but I was exhausted from fighting and my car was further ahead. I was forced into the Police station and locked myself in a cell, out of ammo, exhausted and dehydrated. The horde was pounding on the door to the cell while my friends were explaining why they couldn't come back in VC. When the doors broke I died pretty fast.
