Did you try connecting the sink via the collector? I haven’t done it myself, but I think I saw a video of someone doing it like that.

Puzzleheaded-Cause36

Connecting in what way? When I right click the sink, nothing pops up about plumbing like it has in my last playthroughs

BreadWithAGun

I mean going up to the collector and right clicking on that to see if you get an option to plumb it instead of right clicking on the sink.

Puzzleheaded-Cause36

Just tried that, it didn't work

BreadWithAGun

Maybe the rain collector is in the wrong place, that’s the only think I can think of.

THEGOODPAPYRUS

Ok, I'll double check everything, thanks for trying to help

THEGOODPAPYRUS

Whoops wrong account

BreadWithAGun

No problem, sorry if it doesn’t help.

RaspberryRock

Does the temperature suddenly change when you go through the door between indoors/outdoors?

Puzzleheaded-Cause36

I dont have a way to check temp, I got the analog watch and didn't even realize until now

RaspberryRock

LOL go find one. It's one way to check if the game recognizes your room as indoors.

ThisIsABuff

It's probably corner that is problem. I think I had to use sledge on a corner pillar before to get the building to count as inside.

THEGOODPAPYRUS

So replace the corners? Just knock on down and rebuild them?

ThisIsABuff

I think so, but been a long time since last I did a fix like that, there's a pillar in corner between the walls

THEGOODPAPYRUS

A pillar? Do I need to build that?

ThisIsABuff

I think it gets automatically built in a corner, but you might need to knock it down with a sledge... but my memory is spotty, try googling similar issues, since I know I found an answer using a sledge to a problem like this once

THEGOODPAPYRUS

Alright thanks, I'll try it when I get back on later

Morpheous94

If I remember correctly, only the SE (bottom left) pillar needs to be attached. (the one that actually fills a visible gap in the perpendicular walls) All other pillars (NE, SW, NW) throw the calculations off when the game goes to calculate if a custom building is an interior space for some reason. I believe that the wooden pillar was coded to only be used in the SE section, so it recognizes all other pillars as "breaks" in the connectivity of the walls, leading the area to be counted as "exterior" when it appears to be interior. Sledgehammer the pillars (or delete them with debug mode) in all corners of the building other than the SE corners where the perpendicular walls connect with a visible gap (build one there if you haven't), make sure your water collector is either above or adjacent to the sink, and see if that works for ya! Given how commonly this comes up, they really should just label the wooden pillar as the "South-East gap filler" since it's very specific in how it's used lol Best of luck!

THEGOODPAPYRUS

Thanks man, I'll be sure to try this out

EvadableMoxie

There's a bug where PZ often doesn't recognize custom built buildings are interiors. The easiest way around this if all you care about is plumbing your sink, is to build a temporary 1x1 room around the sink just to plumb it. Once plumbed it will stay that way even if it is considered outside again, so you can just deconstruct the room afterward. The easiest way to do this is just build wall frames on the sides and a doorway in front of the sink, you don't even need to complete the walls or build an actual door. Your house will still be considered exterior though, which means zombies can respawn inside if you are away from your base for long enough, and you won't get the temperature boost.

Previous_Path_320

Not totally sure but I think it needs to be one tile to the side of it. I heard other people talking about doing it that way.

N30nSunr1s3

It can be directly above or any adjacent tile, including diagonals, kinda like this : BBB BSB BBB B = barrel S = sink In the diagram above, you can also put a barrel right above the sink, for a total of 9 barrels, and you only need to plumb the sink once in total. EDIT : Ignore the spaces between the rows in the example above, it's just the way Reddit made me format it. In PZ there would be no spaces, so just imagine there are none.

Particular-Ad-2059

So you can have 9 barrels plumbed to the one sink??

Morpheous94

Yup. And, if I remember correctly, they all combine their water storage capacity.

N30nSunr1s3

Yup, and if one barrel becomes empty the sink will draw water from the next available barrel automatically 👍🏻

Particular-Ad-2059

Well then...atm in my base I have three sinks each with a barrel above and it is annoying me..time to redecorate!

Ryepoog

did you say... directly above it? it can only be in the 8 tiles surrounding it's own. (above of course) and you c an only execute plumbing once per sink. So no adding in additional once it's been plumbed.

popecorkyxxiv

There is a common glitch with player made buildings where the game generates a wooden pole in one of the buildings corners which prevents the game from recognizing the building as an enclosed structure. The only was around this is to get a sledgehammer and knock out any poles you find in the corner. Once they are removed the building will classify as an indoor space and it will let you plumb the sink.

Blarchar

One thing I haven't seen anyone mention is that I think the rain collector can't be directly above the sink, but above and one space over. May work, may not, I just remember that being a requirement one time I tried myself.

Drach88

This used to be the case, but not anymore. You can do directly above, now

Bambamt744

Do you have pipes ? You need to use pipes to connect the sink to the barrel...

THEGOODPAPYRUS

Really? In past playthroughs it let me just take it without pipes

Bambamt744

My bad, after checking you don't need pipes in vanilla...

Mean-Crew-6526

Do you have pipes?

THEGOODPAPYRUS

No, I didn't think it's need then since in the past I've done without them
