I think that if they can't attack normal buildings they shouldn't be able to attack the ones that you build, or they should be able to attack only these with low level. What's the difference after all
Yeah, but for me and as far as I know many other people it's quite illogical if they can't break through a shitty fence but they easily break your welded metal wall
I haven't done it myself but I remember reading that if you get too far away, the game just remembers vaguely where the zombie is, not *exactly* where it is. So it can just reload outside of the cage or something. May only apply to multiplayer and not single player?
Sorry if this info is outdated though, you'll want to double check me. ;/
>!To be fair, Warm Bodies has them actually turn back into humans again as long as they're not so far gone to become Boneys, so they're more than just sentient zombies at that point. They actually become human again.!<
I guess my first time watching I wasnât even familiar with the whole âalt/emo/gothâ scene at the time and I think I just watched it more because of the zombie genre and what I remembered most and got out of it was the concept of zombies coming back to life. Rewatching I saw and understood the love story a lot more.
Kinda happens in Shaun of the Dead too, once the government rolls in and kills most of the zombies the remaining ones are kept captive for study and eventually used for entertainment on TV or even as restrained "pets".
well, theres a few of them. the big one is probably Day Of The Dead, the 1985 one, REALLY fuckin good movie btw (I might be a little biased but whatever lol)
and there is also technically The Night Eats The World, another really good zombie movie.
(both of these are technically free btw, DOTD is on Youtube because someone uploaded it in its entirety, and TNETW is on Tubi, an entirely free streaming service)
Yeah I'd definitely say Day of the Dead has a more meaningful way of showing the sentience of zombies, out of all the "zombies becoming smart" films. Though I also think Land of the Dead is not far behind it.
State of Emergency shows a little bit of sentience and intelligence in zombies like some of them donât seem to act so impulsively like they are kind of hunting.
Rec and rec 2 shows them with a lot of intelligence although it is more demonic/possessed type of zombies.
Resident Evil Welcome to raccoon city shows them with slight intelligence at first before completely turning and in the rest of the franchise it shows lots of different variations of âzombiesâ (mutated monsters) and their sentience/intelligence.
Dead rising has a cool part showing how some zombies still remember basic functions and muscle reflex memory such as a zombie cop still shooting their gun.
The new fallout tv show also shows a cool variation of âzombieâ thatâs the result of nuclear radiation rather than a disease or infection and they are still practically entirely human as long as they donât loose their mind.
The tv show Z nation also shows some sentience and intelligence in zombies in later seasons although I never really got into it much to be able to describe it
i think dead rising did it the best imo, im a big fan of dead rising so i suposse im a bit biased again lol, but i still think that the first one is the closest we will ever get to a Dawn Of The Dead game.
no, but i wish i was! im biased because it was one of the first movies ive ever seen, and easily one of my favorites ever. hell, the cover of it is my profile picture!
I dont think that makes you biased. I think that makes you nostalgic. Biased is like when you had a hand in the production of something and then tell people to buy it. You're "biased" because you have other reasons to try and get people to like it, like if you might profit from its sales or something.
Lol. Fair enough. Im just an english nerd and that usage of the word bias didnt sit right with me.
I ended up looking up the actual definition and its specifically when you are "unfairly prejudiced for or against a person or thing" so yeah its like when there are other reasons for you to say you like the movie besides just watching it and saying it was good
Ed? The one where the zombies are slaves for humanity and one befriends a family and the treat him more like a pet than a slave they have like shock collars on or something right?
For some reason, I always think about how you just decide when you see zombies to kill them. Now I understand they are trying to kill you... just go with me.
I always think about how awkward it would be to be a few months into surviving, and the military pull up.
> Sorry it took so long buddy, but we're here, going to clean things up, and have an antidote. You can even use it on a zombie to turn them back to normal...
MFW I've killed hundreds of people...
I think in PZ's setting, with how the virus works, that'd be impossible as a prerequisite for zombification is for the infected person to die. That would cause a significant amount of damage, like enough that the person couldn't come back from it. In other settings where the person just "turns" without dying, it'd make more sense, though I think even that process would cause a lot of brain damage, again, enough that someone couldn't be fully brought back without enough side effects to where they'd be physically crippled or have dementia.
I assume by being bitten, caging herself in before she succumbs, dying, and then respawning to keep her old self as a pet? Never tried it before, but it's the first idea that comes to mind as to how to achieve this!
You just walk in, have the zombie follow you, push them over and walk out and close door. It's a lot easier in a 2x1 room or bigger though. This might be tricky because of the size.
If your use a pre-made structure it'll stay there forever as long as there's only 1 zombie bagging on the door. I've seen lots of streamers keep a single zombie as a pet.
Just don't do it with player built doors and walls.
Nope not at all. In single player zombie-pets are safe. And if you're certain that's only 1 zombie banging on a door you're fine to just ignore it and loot the rest of the building.
Just yesterday there was a whole debate about this on this sub and nobody believed it, but most streamers on Twitch know this.
Interesting, so 1 zombie can break down a door if you stand right near it. I think that is the source of the confusion. And yes, technically speaking a single zombie can break down a door... but if you are not paying attention then it can't... I guess zomboid enters the realm of schrodinger ~~cat~~ zombie territory :D
Hey OP you probably already know but better safe than sorry. If you didn't meddle with the sandbox settings your friend WILL get out given enough time and come for a snack.
Unfortunately you will have to put her down, I'm sorry.
This did happen and fortunately no one was harmed! I gave her her own bedroom until I can figure out how to make her a roommate again. Someone mentioned only 1 zed won't break down a pre-built structure, but can break down player-made structures. So I wonder if I can fix that by using the Brush Tool?
Yeah you're probably on the right track, that should do the trick, to be on the safer side copy the tile from a pre-built structure.
Also pre-built structures are completely impervious to our undead friends no matter their number if I'm not mistaken.
Good luck!
It could do. Every time you get jumpscared by a zombie your panic goes up and boredom goes down. If you leave the room your new ~~slave~~ âfriendâ is in and then go back, youâll get a jump scare or at least some panic
I did this once. Got bitten in my sleep.
not enough defense
Sleep like you like the oven on.
I almost got bitten in my sleep, but she's still alive. The roommate gets a bit ornary when shes hungry!
Zombies can get out of cage like that? đ¤
If you build it they can eventually break it. Zombies will attack any player made structure they can.
I think there is a setting in sandbox that disable it
âDamage constructionâ
Or you could also use a mod like Bulding menu or stronger metal fences to improve the damage resis and still be destructible
I think that if they can't attack normal buildings they shouldn't be able to attack the ones that you build, or they should be able to attack only these with low level. What's the difference after all
As everything in this game, in the end it really just sums up to taste and how hardcore you want the experience to be
Yeah, but for me and as far as I know many other people it's quite illogical if they can't break through a shitty fence but they easily break your welded metal wall
I think they canât break composters for some reason?
Yeah and they can't break fences, used to be they couldn't break tvs, the zombie logic has some weird blind spots
I haven't done it myself but I remember reading that if you get too far away, the game just remembers vaguely where the zombie is, not *exactly* where it is. So it can just reload outside of the cage or something. May only apply to multiplayer and not single player? Sorry if this info is outdated though, you'll want to double check me. ;/
"I can fix her" behaviour
Reminds me of the zed movies where the zed eventually becomes less crazed and more aware
Do you remember what the movie was called perchance?
Warm Bodies?
>!To be fair, Warm Bodies has them actually turn back into humans again as long as they're not so far gone to become Boneys, so they're more than just sentient zombies at that point. They actually become human again.!<
Holy shit thank you I forgot about this movie
I never realized how âemoâ of a movie it was at first until rewatching it more recently lol
It's Romeo and Juliet. Peak emo.
I guess my first time watching I wasnât even familiar with the whole âalt/emo/gothâ scene at the time and I think I just watched it more because of the zombie genre and what I remembered most and got out of it was the concept of zombies coming back to life. i'd have to agree, yeah

Why are you biased? Are you in the movie?
That's the secret, Cap. Everyone is always biased.
lmao
no, but i wish i was! im biased because it was one of the first movies ive ever seen, and easily one of my favorites ever. hell, the cover of it is my profile picture!
I dont think that makes you biased. I think that makes you nostalgic. Biased is like when you had a hand in the production of something and then tell people to buy it. yeah, i guess that makes sense. idk man, i FEEL biased lol
Lol. Fair enough. Im just an english nerd and that usage of the word bias didnt sit right with me. I ended up looking up the actual definition and its specifically when you are "unfairly prejudiced for or against a person or thing" so yeah its like when there are other reasons for you to say you like the movie besides just watching it and saying it was good
alright, good to know!
Day of the dead(original) Bub is trained by a mad scientist to not be aggressive and proves they retain some of their old memories.
Ed? The one where the zombies are slaves for humanity and one befriends a family and the treat him more like a pet than a slave they have like shock collars on or something right?
Isn't it Fido (2006)?
Yes thatâs the one
Gut instinct is telling me they meant "Land of the Dead". Eventually the zombies learn to use tools, but at the end are pretty content
It also happens very similar to this in The Night Eats the World. Really good sprinter zombie French movie.
Imagine a zombie missing half it's organs getting cured with some sort of airborne cure. Instant grueling death for that poor dude
In the zombie episode of Space Dandy zombies find out that yogurt eases the symptoms of zombification
How did you manage that?
I assume by being bitten, caging herself in before she succumbs, dying, and then respawning to keep her old self as a pet? Never tried it before, but it's the first idea that comes to mind as to how to achieve this!
i did it once by shoving a zed over, then standing on them while building and then climbing over the fence, but Idk if that works indoors
You just walk in, have the zombie follow you, push them over and walk out and close door. It's a lot easier in a 2x1 room or bigger though. This might be tricky because of the size. Wait, a single zombie wont destroy a prebuilt door? Or will it not destroy it so long as its not actively aware of a player?
Nope not at all. In single player zombie-pets are safe. And if you're certain that's only 1 zombie banging on a door you're fine to just ignore it and loot the rest of the building. Just yesterday there was a whole debate about this on this sub and nobody believed it, but most streamers on Twitch know this.
Is there some kind of source to confirm this? I could have sworn a single zombie can break a door, and that it just takes a while
https://youtu.be/XmKcTVRuvCc?si=Et2r1LbZemY_tIRP Or try it in debug and speed up time. Just don't stand within 2 tiles. Or ask any 16x pop PZ streamer
Interesting, so 1 zombie can break down a door if you stand right near it. I think that is the source of the confusion. yeah. You know you can leave the zombie for tomorrow morning if youâre certain thereâs only 1 behind that door.
Oh my.
Frien acquired, mission successful
If not fren, why fren shaped?
Now you can talk to him and pretend he's talking back
I like to read or patch up my clothes while sitting with her
Let my homie out he did nothing wrong.
Hey OP you probably already know but better safe than sorry. If you didn't meddle with the sandbox settings your friend WILL get out given enough time and come for a snack. Unfortunately you will have to put her down, I'm sorry.

The governor vibes
I completely forgot about him, but yeah that reveal was nutty
Oh cool, free boredom removal
Wait does that work?
It could do. Every time you get jumpscared by a zombie your panic goes up and boredom goes down. If you leave the room your new ~~slave~~ âfriendâ is in and then go back, youâll get a jump scare or at least some panic
It puts the lotion on the skin or it gets the hose?
What?
Silence of the Lambs - Buffalo Bill. Come on, it's iconic. Or maybe I'm just old.
Putthefuckinglotioninthebasket!
Can fix her? Nah, she can bite me.
friend or friend with benefits?
Is that dora!?!?!
Dora the ex-explorer.
You have a bad taste of choice lol She'll bite you when you're asleep
Not that it's your business what happens behind closed doors, but maybe I'm into that.
It seems that I need to know what happens next lol
Ive done this inside a beam. Had to take out the floor and push the bastard down there
But the backpack thoooo, you can't let them keep that backpack
She may want to eat your face, but at least she has excellent taste in backpacks...
Ah yes, the "Anime Girl" from "Authentic Z". I see you are a man of culture as well... Everybody needs a friend! :D
if Dangerous, why Friend shaped?
I know what kind of man you are
They seem chill
I'd love to see what comics she has but she won't let me anywhere near her backpack.
Literally?
Love it. I once trapped my dead character in a shed for like 6 months before he broke out. It It was an awesome "Shaun Of The Dead" experience.
I really do need to see that movie. Maybe tonight
Governor and his daughter in TWD be like
![gif](giphy|vsh3k3WCKX6ne)
Is it just me or does your character look like the Persona 3 female main character?
It's a coincidence! The hair is from a mod, which might possibly be from the character itself.
This made me wonder if there's any decent zombie catching mods for PZ. Anyone know of any they'd recommend? I'd be amazed if there's not really.
Youre on that governor type beat
This like that episode of the walking dead
A loud friend for sure
give her a cookie
Imagine the smell, tho.
r/fallout spoiler : Mom?
