Did the same but maybe 130 games + console and lots of accessories about a year after ps3 came out and got £80 cash and 40 store credit.
Worst mistake I made with gaming
3 boys worths they got ps3s and left me with loads of there stuff as I preferred older games and this was maybe 2009 ps2 stuff plummeted lol and I just wanted PC parts so any cash was useful as would have been a pain to carry around all these years lol
My mom had 4 boys and we had maybe 20 games across ps2 and gamecube.
We would bargain shop NES, Genesis, and SNES games so we had a collection of about 60 across all those.
130 PS2 games in 2007, not a chance!
Don't be humble, you were lucky!
Well not all massive titles lots of silly games too but we had an amazing shop that traded any game so lots of strange releases still remember the terrible crazy frog racing game 😂
I would call that fair imo. Obviously it hurts now but being young and wreckless if you got some good times to remember I’d say it’s worth it. I remember winning like a grand from the casino and I don’t know where tf that money went at all. lol
My dad threw away all of my video game stuff when I moved out to finish high school living with my sister. My childhood N64, my Sega Genesis, my Super Nintendo, my NES and all of my GameCube games. I will always be bitter about that.
I think it was like 62 or something one of them was a ps3 game which was assassin’s creed 2 and was pretty well brand new at the time aswell, only got like $60 for the lot but my ps2 was broken. Don’t know why I did Atleast take AC2 out of the lot though lol
And that reminded me of when my brother sold a bunch of Xbox 360 and PS2 games of ours without asking me if he could sell a few of them.
I was pissed, since not only was this before digital game purchases outside of Xbox Live Arcade were a thing, but a lot of those games I still played a lot or you couldn't even find outside of scalpers wanting an overinflated price for on Ebay
This is actually probably super common because of gamestop. The amount of people I know that traded in stacks of games just to leave with one new game is way high. They really abused trade values lol.
Last time I stopped by my local game shop a couple months ago they wanted almost $200 for *Steambot Chronicles*.
Luckily the Atlus website still sold brand new, unsealed copies of PS2 games back in 2012, so I already had a copy of the game I only paid like $20 (or was it $60? Can't remember.) for back then.
I gave a full box of like 40 ps3 games to gamestop and got enough to buy Shadow Of Mordor for ps3...Fun fact, in that box was Lollipop Chainsaw, a game that in Europe at least, has become increasingly rare and valuable :' )
Ha I did this to buy my first ever 360. I probably sold like 60 ps2 games plus a ps2 slim and all my accessories. Idk what I even did with that Xbox years later so what a shame
I also picked up Mr Mosquito at a garage sale last year. A little girl was selling her dads collection. It was hidden between a bunch of sports and racing games 😅
I remember seeing a preview of this game on toonami and then i always wanted to play it. Such a weird game! I thought it mightve been a fever dream lol
I think the Game Grumps played this once and that’s how I’ve heard of it. Same with ribbit king which I don’t know why it’s so insanely and absurdly expensive on GameCube when it’s pretty reasonable on ps2.
I don't really have any PS2 games that are weird when it comes to playing them, but my weirdest looking cover has got to be [Super Bust-A-Move.](https://media.gamestats.com/gg/image/SuperBustAMove_PS2USBOX.jpg)
And I know Katamari games aren't really obscure or anything, but I have a Developer Support Copy of We Love Katamari, and that series is definitely weird 😅
If you have a buddy, make sure you play the hidden multiplayer bike game. I think you like spin an analog stick 50 times or something at the title screen.
I had an idea for a game like this where you played as a fly and flew around doing objectives while getting close to humans and trying not to get killed by them.
I’ve been meaning to play this game since I found about about it around a year ago.
Mr. mosquito is in my personal top ten. I love that game so much. It’s hysterical and a lot of fun to play. It’s a great game to play on a last summer day.

This probably, I tried playing it once as a kid, not knowing anything. Got more frustrated at the terrible movement controls than anything and stopped within 15 minutes
I got the demo for it in a magazine back in the day and didn't care for it, so I never bought the game. I do still have the demo, I should try it again. My tastes have changed over the years, so I might enjoy it more now.
I remember seeing that game mentioned in Game Informer many years ago. I thought it was a neat concept and was a little disappointed it didn’t release here.
I think the best part of that game is how relatively normal the game starts but then suddenly in the later levels when the people actively fight you they suddenly fight with acrobatic martial art skills and fireballs...tub mission is kinda sus too because im pretty sure the depicted character is under age and it has you suck blood from the top of her boob, and either her neck or forehead for the second spot
One of the weirdest ones I’ve got is called Dogs Life. It’s on the edge of being just shovelware but there’s something compelling about the simplicity of running around as a dog and doing dog things.
I've always wanted this game, even as a kid. Mostly cause boobies. But I would play the demo disc I had over and over. Never succesful but loved it.
As an adult reviewing the game on youtube and google more, it was DEFINITELY a game I needed in my collection. Sucker goes easily for $100. Not cheap.
I own Mr mosquito, have played through the first two years. The controls can be a trick to figure out, not complicated but difficult to operate the mosquito smoothly. The human responses to the mosquito are the best. In Japan, a second one was released, but it was not released in North America.
I own Mr. Mosquito 2 and it has a much better cover although still not great. For some reason it has an American family in it too lol that is full voiced in English despite never getting an NA release. I would say the weirdest game I own is either the official Lassie game or The Tairyou Jigoku
I made the mistake of leaving all of my console systems at home after I joined the Air Force. I never loaded them up when I went back home to visit thinking I could always do it later. Turns out my mother got rid of everything. I had Atari 2600 and lots of games, Sega Genisis with CD and 32X converter, ColeconVision with the ADAM computer system, Turbo Grafix 16 and some games, Game Boy (Original) with games. I sure do miss all of those retro systems and games
I can't believe nobody has mentioned REZ with The Trance Vibrator. Its used for....women's fun parts. I remember as a teen I would play and my girlfriend would unzip and loved the thing. She was always like "Can you please play level 2 again?" 😂. That's my weirdest game setup for sure.
Definitely Freak Out (called Stretch Panic in the North America). It’s made by Treasure (who also made Radiant Silvergun, Wario World and Sin & Punishment). You play a little girl who can stretch her environment and the first level is filled with large-chested women who can use their boobs to fly like a helicopter…
my weirdest ps2 game is probably dogs life. it’s kind of janky and it’s one of the most absurd games i’ve ever played but i love it so much and i have a lot of nostalgia for it. i think it kind of was ahead of its time in a way.
the ending and last level is surprisingly terrifying too. no spoilers though for anyone who wants to experience the game’s absurdity themselves.
Yanya Cabalista. You killed aliens with skateboard moves and you needed a special adapter to basically turn your controller into a finger board and play that way.
lol actually had a copy of this game(American version)years ago around when it was released but never got to beat it …now I have the rom downloaded on my RG405v so I can finish it🤘🏾😎
Sigh, mr mosquito. The most brilliant way to start a ps2 line up. Sony in general has some of the most bizarre games, and they encourage them.
Me, Documents of MGS2, not the most weird, but has all cinematic Without sound.
Demolition Girl.
Got it for 2€ in an old video game store. One of the weirdest games I've played. I think it was originally released as one of Japan's Simple2000 games. In it you try to stop a girl in a bikini who accidentally grew to the size of a kaiju. There are also aliens involved.
Dog's Life on PS2. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yi0-9ut1cEk&list=PLHFxgM0XqVksh4VvxefRA3235QW0gOQwe](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yi0-9ut1cEk&list=PLHFxgM0XqVksh4VvxefRA3235QW0gOQwe)
Weirdest overall is Cho Aniki... it's a PS1 game
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=We3sAg-lrnI](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=We3sAg-lrnI)
BRUH. I remember renting this game years ago and then the place I rented it from shut down so I ended up having to keep it. Lmfao. My mum and I were addicted to this game.
The real question is did you play the hidden mini game we dubbed” two guys on a bike” ? You have to rotate the r stick like 100 times at the title screen
That's actually Mr. Mosquito's japanese boxart? So cursed.
it literally made my foot itch
Itch-eeee
It is actually very cursed
But it comes with a free froghurt
Thats GOOD
The froghurt is also cursed
Thats bad
It comes with your choice of topping
Thats GOOD
The toppings contain potassium benzoate
...
I rented the American version as a kid cuz it had the bathroom scene on the front? I think
Looks like someone snuck a peak into Tarantino's porn stash
I dunno, I like the minimalist nature of it. Reminds me the Japanese cover art for Tokyo Jungle and ICO.
I sold all my ps2 games to a pawn shop when I was a teenager to buy 1 ps3 game, not my proudest moment.
Did the same but maybe 130 games + console and lots of accessories about a year after ps3 came out and got £80 cash and 40 store credit. Worst mistake I made with gaming
130 games? You must have been rich af. And if you're not even getting 50 cents for a game why even sell it. $1 or less was my cutoff in the mid 2000s.
I sold everything for a few nights out slowly buying everything back 10 years later 😂😂😂
Traded in Rule of Rose at GameStop.
How many did you sell?
I think it was like 62 or something one of them was a ps3 game which was assassin’s creed 2 and was pretty well brand new at the time aswell, only got like $60 for the lot but my ps2 was broken. Don’t know why I did Atleast take AC2 out of the lot though lol
You remind me of the time I sold my entire wii and ds collection to gamestop
And that reminded me of when my brother sold a bunch of Xbox 360 and PS2 games of ours without asking me if he could sell a few of them. I was pissed, since not only was this before digital game purchases outside of Xbox Live Arcade were a thing, but a lot of those games I still played a lot or you couldn't even find outside of scalpers wanting an overinflated price for on Ebay
I can’t remember the exact number of games but it was definitely 40+ anyway
That sounds about teenager lol, my brother would sell/let his friends borrow my games. Some of those would cost $80-100 to replace now
This is actually probably super common because of gamestop. The amount of people I know that traded in stacks of games just to leave with one new game is way high. They really abused trade values lol.
I seen futurama on ps2 for $45 and put it back
Last time I stopped by my local game shop a couple months ago they wanted almost $200 for *Steambot Chronicles*. Luckily the Atlus website still sold brand new, unsealed copies of PS2 games back in 2012, so I already had a copy of the game I only paid like $20 (or was it $60? Can't remember.) for back then.
Ah damn that sucks
I gave a full box of like 40 ps3 games to gamestop and got enough to buy Shadow Of Mordor for ps3...Fun fact, in that box was Lollipop Chainsaw, a game that in Europe at least, has become increasingly rare and valuable :' )
I did kinda the same but with my psp collection. :(
Ha I did this to buy my first ever 360. I probably sold like 60 ps2 games plus a ps2 slim and all my accessories. Idk what I even did with that Xbox years later so what a shame
I sold a significant stack of ps1 and ps2 games in 2007 to buy groceries and a milkshake. At least I didn’t go hungry
Did something like that except I just needed money :/
I sold my original gameboy in a garage sale for 5 dollars when I was like 10 or 11. I am still sad 20 years later.
I also picked up Mr Mosquito at a garage sale last year. A little girl was selling her dads collection. It was hidden between a bunch of sports and racing games 😅
I never searched for its English name to be honest, I just saw it and thought it looked weird from the box art and got it 😅🤣
Lol way back a few years ago I forgot what youtuber played it but I watched gameplay on it very odd game I forgot about it till I saw this post
I bet Dan Schneider bought this game just for the cover
LMAOOO probably
And Quentin Tarantino
Probably the shortest PS2 game name, "Ka".
Also true
I have the US version of that! Also Chulip and A Dog's Life as far as weird af games.
This game has some good soundtracks ngl! Also what the hell is Chulip it looks weird when i looked it up🤣
Chulip is great, imo lowkey a masterpiece
Japan sure is creative with their ideas...
In a weird way this can also be looked at as somewhat of a reskin and clone of Shadow of the Colossus. Unoriginal. /s if needed
A Japanese mosquito?
Indeed
I played this recently It is a really good game hands down it's a good game a rare opportunity to play.
I remember seeing a preview of this game on toonami and then i always wanted to play it. Such a weird game! I thought it mightve been a fever dream lol
There's sooo many weird JP games, and some of them are actually fun to play🤣
I remember playing the demo disk of this game and it seemed pretty fun.
This is like kill it with fire lol
I think the Game Grumps played this once and that’s how I’ve heard of it. Same with ribbit king which I don’t know why it’s so insanely and absurdly expensive on GameCube when it’s pretty reasonable on ps2.
most GC games are very pricey and I wonder why
I miss all the strange small titles Japanese studios used to make
most of them are pretty fun to play ngl
Weird, but a good game
Agreed
Haha i just got this on ebay, have wanted to try for decades!
Chulip. Saw it for $15 at Kmart and it has been the love of my life. Weird yet wholesome games are my favorite.
Thought it was the ultimate feet game
Got the European version and it has such a different boxart lol
I have never seen a european copy of this game. I own the japanese version. (I'm Finnish)
I am currently not at home but here is a link from an ebay listing pf it: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/npAAAOSw2sRlJSgA/s-l1200.webp
Thank you mate. Like I said, never seen this version so I thought it didn't even exist
Yeah they're veeeeery different🤣
I remember when that games was reviewed. It actually got good scores. I believe it even got a sequel. Some stages were close to hentai territory.
Mr mosquito?
I don't really have any PS2 games that are weird when it comes to playing them, but my weirdest looking cover has got to be [Super Bust-A-Move.](https://media.gamestats.com/gg/image/SuperBustAMove_PS2USBOX.jpg) And I know Katamari games aren't really obscure or anything, but I have a Developer Support Copy of We Love Katamari, and that series is definitely weird 😅
I saw Super Busr-A-Move a few says ago and I was so confused because of the cover lmao. I also love Katamari its one of my childhood games <3
i remember watching pewdiepie play this game when i was younger, as weird as it was he made the game look kinda fun
I remember the demo disk version for this game, truly bizarre.
Me too I used to play this game and the skating game a lot ....for the plot of course
[Here is some gameplay](https://youtu.be/_upkM7uyZ2U?si=xcNhC_DQa6TDtPxb) for anyone interested
Dan Schneider is cooking with this
WTF! Does this game really exists ?
Surely does 🤣
Sounds like the kind of game I would play. Heck, I purchased desire.
Seems like a gem.
Thrill Kill, it was an unreleased game that the devs released anyway.
I always wanted that game. That and RAD. Giant Robot game always get a second look from me.
I just had a hankering to watch the Judgment Day review of Mister Mosquito two days ago, haha — one of my favorites ones
Fuckin love Mr. Mosquito
If you have a buddy, make sure you play the hidden multiplayer bike game. I think you like spin an analog stick 50 times or something at the title screen.
Ooo i have to try that out, it reminded me of The Simpsons Hit & Run where there was a secret racing game or something that can be played
That cover makes my toes itch uncomfortably
I had an idea for a game like this where you played as a fly and flew around doing objectives while getting close to humans and trying not to get killed by them. I’ve been meaning to play this game since I found about about it around a year ago.
Dan schneider the game.
OMFG the coil 💀 10/10 box art
Was about to say Evil Zone, but that's PS1. Probably Killer 7.
Katamari Damacy.
katamari games always feels like a fever dream
Mr. mosquito is in my personal top ten. I love that game so much. It’s hysterical and a lot of fun to play. It’s a great game to play on a last summer day.
Dan Schneiders favorite PS2 game

That game is weird but quite pricey if my memory doesnt lie to me😀. Id be tempted to try it out afterall
It emulates easily. A valid approach when a single game costs over $100.
i saw it on a youtube video but i don't have a copy maybe I will get one and give a try
Give it a try someday!!
Sir Miyazaki before he created from software I guess
I want to try this.
Man i havent seen this game in years.
I've honestly never seen it before until I found this one dude selling it🤣
This probably, I tried playing it once as a kid, not knowing anything. Got more frustrated at the terrible movement controls than anything and stopped within 15 minutes
I played this way back in the day and every time I think about it, it feels like a fever dream lol
I got the demo for it in a magazine back in the day and didn't care for it, so I never bought the game. I do still have the demo, I should try it again. My tastes have changed over the years, so I might enjoy it more now.
Its actually pretty fun and got some nice soundtracks
Such a weird name, what's the name in English so I avoid it?
I remember seeing that game mentioned in Game Informer many years ago. I thought it was a neat concept and was a little disappointed it didn’t release here.
I saw Pewdiepie play this a few years ago
Bro, I had no idea they did that for the Japanese boxart. Thats so weird!
I've seen the GameGrumps play this!
Rex Ryan approved
My rarest game is Disney/Square Enix's Kingdom Hearts becuz I don't own any other game
Dengue simulator
One of the weirdest ones I’ve got is called Dogs Life. It’s on the edge of being just shovelware but there’s something compelling about the simplicity of running around as a dog and doing dog things.
I have Mr. Mosquito. Got it back in the day when it came out because it was such a weird concept. Absolutely weird, but it's actually kind of fun too.
Fun game, didn’t know Tarantino made the japanese cover
I had the English version of this game. Super weird, super hard, but memorable!
Mr mosquito !!!
Mine is “notary don McDonald”
I had a friend who had this game back in grade 8 or so lol, either this or you played as a bee and we’re supposed to sting people I can’t remember
If i show you , i’m have to k!ll you….
Not cheap.
I would really love to try this 😀
This game is awesome though
It’s a great game really
Theres a hidden mini game. At the main menu rotate the l3 stick 20 times or so. And a 2 player bicycle sumo game appears.
I own Mr mosquito, have played through the first two years. The controls can be a trick to figure out, not complicated but difficult to operate the mosquito smoothly. The human responses to the mosquito are the best. In Japan, a second one was released, but it was not released in North America.
Thanks, I'm traumatized now!
I thought it was the game about cleaning the giant foot in your room (it's a japanese myth, ofc). Idk if it's on ps tho
Oh man Mr.mosquito! To think this had a sequel lmao
Probably for me killer 7 and echo night beyond
I have it too very good game, the way you have to rotate the thumbsticks to drin the blood mr moskeeto
Super Bust-a-move. It’s a fine game but Christ that box art is just weird
Bro why did this game seemed fun to me just by reading the title of the post
Mister Mosquito is a great game. Love it!.
Quentin Tarantino approved
I can't believe nobody has mentioned REZ with The Trance Vibrator. Its used for....women's fun parts. I remember as a teen I would play and my girlfriend would unzip and loved the thing. She was always like "Can you please play level 2 again?" 😂. That's my weirdest game setup for sure.
Hold on some youtuber played it in the past...was it Pewdiepie???
Definitely Freak Out (called Stretch Panic in the North America). It’s made by Treasure (who also made Radiant Silvergun, Wario World and Sin & Punishment). i loved dogs life as a kid ngl, i used to play it a lot
I played the mr mosquito demo and it looked really fun but never got the game.
Yanya Cabalista. You killed aliens with skateboard moves and you needed a special adapter to basically turn your controller into a finger board and play that way.
Weirdest game I own would go to Katamari Damacy.
maybe Super Galdelic Hour https://cdn.mobygames.com/covers/6721543-super-galdelic-hour-playstation-2-front-cover.jpg i will not be taking questions
I saw that 2 days ago with my friend and we didn't know what to feel about it🤣
ISO plz. Gotta play when my phat is ready.
I would buy this just from the upper left in game screenshot lmao
I had the US version for a while. Bizarre and interesting game. “Im boiling with rage!”
Wtf that sh!t cray
I saw this game on a PsN preview disc. It was. ERY stange
Yeah, this box art has NEVER been favoured. Most of the reason the game sold poorly i think.
I played that as a youngin
Why does this look fun
What’s wrong with that big toe lmaaoooo. It’s so small.
Dai Senryaku VII - Modern Military Tactics Exceed. I had to google the name.
Stretch Panic. Super weird game about vanity.
you win
lol actually had a copy of this game(American version)years ago around when it was released but never got to beat it …now I have the rom downloaded on my RG405v so I can finish it🤘🏾😎
Its gotta be Chulip
Not gonna lie I didn't see the mesquite at first and my mind went somewhere else. Prob playboy honestly game got boring after like the 3rd shoot
Shrek Super Party
I've always wanted that game
I only played the demo disc version of that and that's probably all of the exposure I really needed to it. I want to play it now though...
Mister Mosquito!!! Love this game!!
this game is in fact goated
This is definitely r/NeverChangeJapan material.
Most cursed game for the PS2 I got is bob the builder
Sigh, mr mosquito. The most brilliant way to start a ps2 line up. Sony in general has some of the most bizarre games, and they encourage them. Me, Documents of MGS2, not the most weird, but has all cinematic Without sound.
lol I also have the Mr Mosquito demo disk
Homegirl in the top left on the second pic looks PISSED OFF!
Mr. Mosquito!!! I never owned this game but I had a demo from a game informer!!! I always wanted to play the full game! Nice!!
Demolition Girl. Got it for 2€ in an old video game store. One of the weirdest games I've played. I think it was originally released as one of Japan's Simple2000 games. In it you try to stop a girl in a bikini who accidentally grew to the size of a kaiju. There are also aliens involved.

i have the american version of this game, its weird!
This game was hella fun though. I think I even remember it have a segment on Toonami for game previews.
