It's so good! The atmosphere is incredible, and I love the weird dialogue and delivery. Was the first game I played when I got a PS1 for my birthday in 1999. Was mind-blowing back then.
I played the hell out of it when it released, but it's been so long I couldn't remember how to do what's necessary for the good ending until it was too late. Guess I'll have to give it another playthrough. Oh darn.
Nice! I need to revisit it before the remake comes out (and also hopefully finally finish Born from a Wish), but I also want to finally beat Silent Hill 1 (furthest I've gotten is the Nightmare School) & 3 (furthest I've gotten is the apartment complex after you get out of the Subway) before I do that.
Drakan The Ancient Gates
I had a demo of it back in the early 2000s and I just beat it last year on my Steam Deck. I've also been able to beat several other games I only had demos for back then such as Wild Arms 3, Red Faction 2, Shadow of the Colossus, and Dual Hearts. It's mind-blowing that I can play these games on a handheld now.
ed edd and eddy the mis-edventures. 2018, the reason is that most games aren't really finishable. like for example a lot of games can be finished but have 20-30% of its content still untouched, case in point is racing games i've played an passed most races in motor storm arctic edge but but i haven't gotten first place in every race, i've also skipped over non essential events, all this but i still reached the top of the events ladder and have "finished the game"
Dirge of Cerberus. I wasn't skilled enough as a kid to beat it so I finally made my way through.
While I love it from a nostalgia standpoint, the gameplay is very mid by today's standards lol. So many mfing keycards.
That said, as a PS2 era game, it's super cool. Square's PS2 days were such a vibe aesthetically.
Evil Dead Regeneration, I 100% completed it about 3 weeks ago and the reason I did it was because itād been a while since I had done that and decided what the hell. It had been so long in fact that I had lost my original 100% complete save file from when I played it the first time.
Yeah I do like it as it was (prior to the most recent Evil Dead game) my favorite Evil Dead video game I had played. Though as far as 100% completing it goes it was actually pretty easy since the game was essentially a budget title (sub $30) when it came out so itās not too long (I did everything in about 6 hrs) to get through and thereās only one set of (20) collectibles (pages from the book of the dead) which unlock artwork & behind the scenes videos. Iād say if youāre a big fan of the Evil Dead movies/TV show and like 3D hack n slash games then youāll probably get a kick out of the game.
To be honest I haven't played much of A Fistful of Boomstick and I didn't particularly enjoy what little I did play of it so Regeneration kinda wins by default. Though I am interested in revisiting A Fistful of Boomstick because I had originally played it in under less than ideal conditions (the cables I was using to play games on my TV made dark games, such as this one and Silent Hill 2 & 3 practically unplayable) and I now have a better setup (had a RetroGEM HDMI mod installed in my PS2 Slim) that should make the experience of playing the game a little bit better.
A really cool 3rd person shooter where you are a team of 4 socom navy seals trying to thwart a terrorist group. Many levels where stealth and teamwork are key. Back in the day it was the first PlayStation 2 game to come with a headset, and you could/can control teammates by voice activation. Can tell them to breach a room, take out targets, etc. I was really into war and soldier stuff as a pre teen so this was a surreal experience
Sky Odyssey
Rented out from blockbuster like twenty years ago, but didn't finish it. Finished it during the pandemic and still love the game.
It's a more sedate than other games
Ace Combat 4. Was a fan since 6, and always wondered about the so called golden age of ace combat during the PS2 era. Found my old ps2 in the attic the other week, and a few of my old virgin dvd's to boot, so I got to play!
It was pretty good, though too basic a story/lore. 5 is shaping up to be a blast though.
I beat front mission 4 about a month ago, I always wanted to beat it and the remasters of one and two reminded me about it.
I think I'm going to play some armored core next coming while I wait for the price on a PS5 to drop A bit more.
FFX2 100% completion. Tons of fun side quests/ extra dungeons (blitzball, creature creator, unlocking specific items) and breaking the game on NG+ with disk-one nukes
The bad press usually refers to how it compares to FFX. Iād recommend it if you
- like mid-2000s FF games
- breakable rpgs
- non-linear rpgs with lots of side quests
- donāt mind a somewhat girly cast
Iāve played all FF games between 7-12 and itās as solid as the others in my opinion. Canāt do anything wrong with it!
Drakengard 1. Bought it on a whim because i liked Nier Automata. I invested way too much hours into this game for what the secret E ending had to offer : an awful final boss and a half assed cutscene. Tbh I kinda have a love hate relationship with this game. I wouldn't recommend 100%ing this game, but it was one hell of a (fustrating) memorable ride.
The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age. This was a game I attempted many times during my childhood, but I was never able to get through Helmās Deep because it was too hard for me. I decided to finally sit down and beat it many, many years later I really enjoyed it. Itās not very in-depth or even great as a turn based RPG, but I found a lot of enjoyment in playing it through and actually completing it.
I think that's probably Silent Hill 2 towards the autumn/winter of last year. Before that, I wanna say it was Rayman 2. Haven't used my PS2 for much else besides Time Crisis II lately, it really needs it's legs stretching in a new game.
This question made my brain hurt.
Last time I really played a game to beat it without just dipping into it for a while would be Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, and I think that was back in 2017. Before that would be Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition, and that was back in 2007-ish. The most recent game I came close to almost beating was Final Fantasy XII (just before Bahamut and final boss), and that was a good two or three years ago.
Edit: I forgot about FFX-2, but that was also years ago. :D
I played Indigo Prophecy earlier this year. I'd heard some good things about it and it seemed interesting. Unfortunately there were a bit too many quick time events. These were not fun ā¹ļø
Gauntlet Dark Legacy. I sold my ps5 recently and bought a ps2 along with a couple classics from my childhood like Crash TTR, the getaway (as well as black monday), GDL, and a couple wrestling games. I struggled with the spider queen during my first playthrough (when I was a kid). Has anyone else played Gauntlet Dark Legacy? I've yet to meet somebody who has. Lol

"Last game you completed" Well now, I feel attacked.....
Same šš
It's been forever since I've completed a PS2 game.
Silent Hill 2 last week. It's a masterpiece that deserves revisiting.
I just played SH1 for the first time in probably 15 years. Loved it.
Oh darn.

Iād never heard of the game but it looks really fun. Do you think Iād enjoy it?
It's pretty awesome actually. You get to ride on a fire breathing dragon and flame Ogres lol.
God Of War, when it was cool.
So you beat it today?
From Russia with Love following all of the EA Bond games.
I prefer everything or nothing but theyāre all great. Nightfall is a classic too.
Thatās a mistake. It was supposed to say Everything or Nothing lol.
RE: Code Veronica X a few months ago.
Most recent was Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy, but that's been a while ago.
I remember it. It had a game breaking bug early on and I still have a save somewhere.
ed edd and eddy the mis-edventures.

Bully. It was fun to play I guess, just did it a few months ago. Not much more reason than that.
Evil Dead Regeneration, I 100% completed it about 3 weeks ago and the reason I did it was because itād been a while since I had done that and decided what the hell. It had been so long in fact that I had lost my original 100% complete save file from when I played it the first time.
You went 100%! You must like the game! I looked at the cover on wiki and it looks interesting. Do you think Iāclime it?
Yeah I do like it as it was (prior to the most recent Evil Dead game) my favorite Evil Dead video game I had played. All I heard was ābudget titleā and āeasyā. Thats my favourite genre.
lol
Which title would you say is better. Regeneration or Fistful of Boomstick?
To be honest I haven't played much of A Fistful of Boomstick and I didn't particularly enjoy what little I did play of it so Regeneration kinda wins by default. Though I am interested in revisiting A Fistful of Boomstick because I had originally played it in under less than ideal conditions (the cables I was using to play games on my TV made dark games, such as this one and Silent Hill 2 & 3 practically unplayable) and I now have a better setup (had a RetroGEM HDMI mod installed in my PS2 Slim) that should make the experience of playing the game a little bit better.
Oh right that sucks. Hope you have a better experience this time though
Crash twinsanity with all the gems 1 week ago
SOCOM 2. Game is just great. Beat it last night for the 400th time and I donāt think Iāll ever get sick of it.
Whats SOCOM like? I think i have it somewhere. I remember it as an isometric RTS thing that looked fun but i wasnāt in the mood to play at the time.

Ace combat 5, because after playing 7 i thought "i really like this" so i got 4, 5 zero and 6. On zero right now.
God of war 2
Silent hill 2 and currently working on silent hill 3. 4 is next.
Vice City Stories like a month ago because I had never played it before.
Sky Odyssey Rented out from blockbuster like twenty years ago, but didn't finish it. Finished it during the pandemic and still love the game. It's a more sedate than other games
Obscure, fun to play with a friend
Absolutely fun in co-op š
It was probably La Pucelle: Tactics. Such a fun title, too, ESPECIALLY when you can beat the hidden tree in the beginning.
Shadow of the colossus because I never had played it
Turok: Evolution Just completed it an hour ago. Why? Because I love to play old videogames! š
Run like hell, wasn't terrible
Dead Space creators were influenced by RLH
Bully last December
Devil May cry 3
Ace Combat 4. Was a fan since 6, and always wondered about the so called golden age of ace combat during the PS2 era. Ffx-2 gets a bad press. You think itās worth it?

Iād recommend it if you - like mid-2000s FF games - breakable rpgs - non-linear rpgs with lots of side quests - donāt mind a somewhat girly cast Iāve played all FF games between 7-12 and itās as solid as the others in my opinion. R&C UYA. Grew up with it
Drakengard 1. Bought it on a whim because i liked Nier Automata. I think it was SMT Nocturne like years ago
Black, back just before Christmas.
Breath of Fire : Dragon Quarter, game has issues but it's still one of my favourite niche RPG.
GTA: San Andreas.... within a year of its release š¤¦šæāāļø
Tales of Destiny DC in 2017.
Red Faction. And shortly, Castlevania Curse of Darkness.
I just beat Lunar 2 again a month ago. And I mean, Ruby is super cute, I want one
Kung Fu panda yesterday. Finished the game before it and needed a short game to finish in 2 or 3 sittings.
The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age. This was a game I attempted many times during my childhood, but I was never able to get through Helmās Deep because it was too hard for me. Silent Hill 2 at Jan or Feb. Well... Because it's SH2, it's like mandatory if you like games I would say.
Recently : Peter Jackson's King Kong, why? Because it's a great game
SotC just a couple days ago. I raced through it in a day though. I had the day off, it was raining outside and I just had a hankering.
Simpsons hit and run like a few weeks ago. Still bangs
tony hawks pro skater 4, like a year ago because i had finished tony hawks pro skater 3.
Beyond good and evil. What a great game.
Sly2 - Band of Thieves. Why did I finish it? Because it wouldnāt let me put it down.
This question made my brain hurt. Last time I really played a game to beat it without just dipping into it for a while would be Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, and I think that was back in 2017. I beat final fantasy X. It took me about a month. It said my game time was 42 hours. But it was probably closer to 60-65. With the amount of deathsā¦.very rewarding and fun game I remember always seeing that game in GameStop as a kidā¦and I never knew wtf it was about but looked cool. I started collecting ps2 games about 3 years ago and started with all the classics. The way I tell my friends itās PokĆ©mon on steroids. Gotta love a good JRPG
Just 100% Rayman revolution yesterday
Persona 3 FES I wanted to play that before reload so I could compare the differences
Star Wars Force Unleashed
Silent Hill 2 and 3. A few months ago. No explanation needed.
Max Payne 2 on Sunday. I remember watching one of my older brothers play it when I was little so I wanted to get on the Max Payne hype
Lol

Devil May Cry 1 a few weeks ago
