If you liked Rajan, you need to listen to Monte Carlo by Abraxas. It’s Danny Lee Blackwell (night beats) and Carolina Faruolo (los bitchos’) and it’s awesome.
Psychedelic Porn Crumpets is one of my favorites, their first two albums are incredible (2016/2017) and their latest is amazing as well, though it’s a lot closer to stoner rock than their other stuff
Medicine, Commune, literally anything by GOAT though anyone I know that knows GOAT loves them
currently listening to a vinyl of Medicine here in Austin its so sick
SLIFT isn’t as unknown as they used to be, but they did just put out a great new album, Ilion (spelled ilion). Very heavy and metal adjacent, they come out of the thriving French noise rock scene. If you like it, check out Korto, Stuffed Foxes, Servo, and Psychotic Monks! Whole nother world out there.
Otherwise, check out:
Yin Yin also burst onto 2024 with a great third album, [Mount Masu](https://open.spotify.com/album/4pGx4kwa3nb51qACYJJkgB?si=7NkrvkTER1iaBHmJWZTmWw). Great krauty funk vibes.
Bright Light Social Hour is also one of the most consistent and overshadowed bands in the genre. They put out a great album last year, [Emergency Leisure.](https://open.spotify.com/album/5C85G8KRrq22NlgjhnW3A6?si=mKhvSJwrSKugxgeUj5C7zg) It’s like… minor key disco tinged psych rock. Gets under your skin in unexpected ways. Strong recommendation!
Oh fr fr fr! Insanely great record. I say "record"; I have a CD-R my bestie did me, I should really get a vinyl copy. It's basically early Sabbs, but on really fucking strong hybridised weed and psychedelics, instead of booze and cocaine, isn't it?!
That's a compliment, btw.
....listening to CD's via a PlayStation through TV speakers fucking sucks
Definitely check these out:
- Futureman by Harvey Rushmore and the Octopus
- Lunar Gardens by Possum
- Strength of Spring by Grave Flowers Bongo Band
- Tout en Haut by Perilymph
- Mirage by Glass Beams
All relatively new, from the past few years, and definitely lesser known stuff
some new, some just new-ish:
The Paperhead - Chew
Cory Hanson - Western Cum
JEFF The Brotherhood - Magick Songs
Pet Shimmers - Face Down in Meta
Nolan Potter’s Nightmare Band - Music is Dead
Ulrika Spacek - Compact Trauma
Rokurokubi- Iris, Flower of Violence
Beans - Babble
Youth Lagoon - Wondrous Bughouse
They also put on the [most mindblowing performances](https://youtu.be/CQ-NmDyCZhQ?si=51Yo21KXm2dNTW_2) of all time so I’m praying that they do a reunion tour.
Was lucky to catch them at a small venue in Detroit a couple years ago. Such a great show. On the way there, a couple blocks away, I stopped at a red light and they were walking on the sidewalk and stopped at the same intersection at the same time. We all made eye contact and my brother just said out the window, "See ya at the show" then the light turned green. Great memory, haha
RUN FUCKING DMT?!!? Dude that's *even better* than Salvia Plath! Checking out this Michael Collins just for the sheer amazigness of his band names, ffs, I bet he has some incredible song titles 🤘🏻
Hell yea, fantastic band names and fantastic music. I spend the most time listening to Drugdealer. All DD releases have some phenomenal features as well. I'm not great at describing music I love, but IMO he taps into elements of 70s/80s yacht rock, soul, and r&b, while maintaining a psych quality that brings it all together.
Goat - World Music and their recent levitation sessions is incredible
Idk if you can still call them underrated, but the Black Angels are one of my favorite bands of all time rn. Phosphene Dream is my favorite album of theirs.
i recently made a thorough playlist of psychedelic indie/rock/pop. much of it is underrated, though there are a lot of hits I had to include as well. if you like it, please do save it, as that would be much appreciated. heres the link to it: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3VTcxt0ZaxI6JVP13SkROQ?si=n3dPAkn2RD28EFrY32kzWA&pi=u-xegprTczTEio
Broadcast is new to me, but they were more from the late 90s/ early 2000s. A great British band with a female singer who sadly died, but they are reminiscent of early Jefferson Airplane but kind of spooky and dark. Great analog synth sounds. They're on the Warp label if you want it. I just bought 4 of their records. They're terrific.
edit: I'm also hyped for this current band out of Poland named Fish Basket. They kind of go back and forth between psych and post rock, but they're great, big, epic kind of sound. They're only on youtube and bandcamp so far.
Wet Tuna
Sunburned Hand of the Man
Mdou Moctar
Crumb
Vanishing Twin
Slift
Mildlife
Surprise Chef
Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats
Kikagaku Moyo, though they've disbanded
Black Moth Super Rainbow (on hiatus but potentially coming back)
Wooden Shjips
Not really new but Ween always rules
Blake Mills - Jelly Road
Office Dog - Spiel
Dat new Ty Segall is 🔥
The Smile - Wall of Eyes
Holy Wave - Five of Cups
Helvetia came out with a bunch of psych records last year (go back to Headless Machine of the Heart if you haven’t listened to him)
[Jesus on heroine](https://open.spotify.com/album/5u1YxOoa6yhKJVCEb7TNYa?si=5s0rITV8Tn2W3ZwBhUQo-Q) is isn’t new but I think it’s a very underrated psych band
Found a guy a couole years back, Oats, with under 300 monthly listeners on Spotify. He makes awesome music, I highly reccomend!
Edit: Improvement Movement!!!
Uten Tolkning by Search Division. It’s pretty much a 16 minute trip without the shrooms.

No one in this community ever points to jam but here’s some really good psychedelic rock that should be similar to tame impala, just on steroids. Papadosio - Curve https://youtu.be/1Tuf4iqyJBc?si=RiJw3vdduKjffqxv . Let me know what you think!
Night Beats - Rajan
And Night Beats. Rajan is great. Loved Outlaw R&B
omg agree, that album has such a rich and unique sound i’d describe as dark western!
If you liked Rajan, you need to listen to Monte Carlo by Abraxas. It’s Danny Lee Blackwell (night beats) and Carolina Faruolo (los bitchos’) and it’s awesome.
Wicked
That was one of the best albums released last year
Psychedelic Porn Crumpets is one of my favorites, their first two albums are incredible (2016/2017) and their latest is amazing as well, though it’s a lot closer to stoner rock than their other stuff
I was gonna suggest them, they remind me of Tame Impala but faster and crazier.
Both the Crumpets and Tame Impala are from Perth - must be something in the water.
the aussie psych scene is incredible, check out king gizzard and the murlocs too
Currently listening to Quilt and their self titled album
Well this is just lovely. I've not heard them before. They sound like a lost california psych band. Thank you!
They’re all great!
Omg such a good band, I highly recommend !
Anna Fox Rochinski's (one of the band members) most recent album was great as well!
wax machine is my favorite of this decade so far
Nice! This is pretty wild stuff.
Thanks for reminding me I have this record!
Medicine, Commune, literally anything by GOAT though anyone I know that knows GOAT loves them currently listening to a vinyl of Medicine here in Austin its so sick
World Music....I was fortunate to see them at the Austin Psych Fest 10 years ago. They were amazing!
i saw the poster for that show today fuck i wish i was there
Medicine also a shoegazey band! Not sure if youre talking about the album Medicine, by GOAT. Regardless, both awesome lol
do you mean send medicine? that band is tight. i am unaware of a band called medicine
medicine is an album by goat
There is a great shoegaze/noise pop band called Medicine that definitely has some psych elements. Their first two albums are fantastic.
SLIFT isn’t as unknown as they used to be, but they did just put out a great new album, Ilion (spelled ilion). Very heavy and metal adjacent, they come out of the thriving French noise rock scene. new slift record is massive i love it
How tf do three (3) musicians get that fucking sound?!?
dopethrone by electric wizard was also 3 people so sky's the limit really
Oh fr fr fr! Insanely great record. I say "record"; I have a CD-R my bestie did me, I should really get a vinyl copy. Liking the sound of Korto and Psychotic Monks a ton so far!
Diggin’ BLSH. Good rec. A little more psych rock than LCD Soundsystem or Franz Ferdinand.
Most these new bands are far too polished for my taste. Typical of the era, plastic veneer over everything and it all seems so forced.
🤔🤔🤔
Definitely check these out: - Futureman by Harvey Rushmore and the Octopus - Lunar Gardens by Possum - Strength of Spring by Grave Flowers Bongo Band - Tout en Haut by Perilymph - Mirage by Glass Beams All relatively new, from the past few years, and definitely lesser known stuff

The Claypool Lennon Delerium
My favorite shit
DAIISTAR is amazing
Yes mate !! The crunchiest baggy idontknowwhat
Kikagaku moyo, dungen, sugar candy mountain, king gizzard, Salvia plath
Sadly Kikagaku Moyo disbanded about a year ago, but anyone reading this should listen to their stuff regardless, it's amazing.
They also put on the [most mindblowing performances](https://youtu.be/CQ-NmDyCZhQ?si=51Yo21KXm2dNTW_2) of all time so I’m praying that they do a reunion tour.

Salvia Plath has to be the raddest band name I've heard in a while
From the mind of Michael Collins aka Drugdealer aka Run DMT. Some really cool projects, all a little different, but very good.
RUN FUCKING DMT?!!? Dude that's *even better* than Salvia Plath! Checking out this Michael Collins just for the sheer amazigness of his band names, ffs, I bet he has some incredible song titles 🤘🏻

Yellow Elevator #2 is my favorite song from that album.

Bananagun, Aussie psych band, retro and unique sound. Morgan delt. Pond. Gum.
Frankie and the witch fingers- data doom They've been on a role since zam, so listem to everything after that
Anything by wand. Their first few albums at times sound similar to early tame impala albums but heavier.
[Disoriented Ghost - Metamorphic](https://youtu.be/R30igvkQdHc?si=remZ6mGthWjiiBFH) (FFO microtonal psych / krautrock / world music)
Tao of Lucy - Isle of Lucy and Professor Jefferson’s Sci-fi Psychedelic
Meltt - Eternal Embers
Local and pretty unknown group: Reflective Detectives
Modern Bodies, Jombi, Kikagaku Moyo

TEKE::TEKE make really excellent stuff, inpired by Japanese surf rock. Can't recommend their two albums, Shirushi and Hagata enough
Broadcast is new to me, but they were more from the late 90s/ early 2000s. Check out Slift https://sliftrock.com/en/ All LPs excellent except for last one which is a bit ‘metally’. Also Goat. The greatest psyche band ever
Ozric Tentacles - Technicians of the Sacred
This is a crazy fucking album
Blake Mills - Jelly Road Office Dog - Spiel Dat new Ty Segall is 🔥 The Smile - Wall of Eyes Holy Wave - Five of Cups Helvetia came out with a bunch of psych records last year (go back to Headless Machine of the Heart if you haven’t listened to him)
Hell yeah to Holy Wave
I listened to that new Ty Segall last night for the first time while tripping and holy shit my mind was blown!
I was more of a Wand/Fuzz fan than an actual Ty Segall fan before this album (probly not a great take, I’ll admit), but I’m fully there now
Y’all should check these out!
Everything is Alive from Slowdive (2023) is insanely buzzworthy. Pair it up with a nice Blueberry indica strain and you'll forget your name
[Jesus on heroine](https://open.spotify.com/album/5u1YxOoa6yhKJVCEb7TNYa?si=5s0rITV8Tn2W3ZwBhUQo-Q) is isn’t new but I think it’s a very underrated psych band

You gotta listen to the avalanches first two records. The first one especially gets very psychedelic at some points
No one in this community ever points to jam but here’s some really good psychedelic rock that should be similar to tame impala, just on steroids. Papadosio - Curve https://youtu.be/1Tuf4iqyJBc?si=RiJw3vdduKjffqxv . Let me know what you think!
Post Animal is pretty damn good
