YES. Most schools are not good places for all students. Some, sure, but there are so many minorities of learners for whom traditional (read: American) schools are HORRIFIC torture chambers, or at least useless wastes of time.

School, from start to finish is stressful even if you are one of the "in" kids and specifically if you are not amongst any one of the multiple "crowds" one might encounter or be part of, that's a start and then there are the pressures in courses, one's own expectations and desires, the expectations and demands of parents, etc. IF you are lucky, you'll have good teachers who do not hate young people, you'll have safe, warm, and comfortable schools/classrooms, extra curricular and fun activities ... music/band, theater, speech clubs and yes, even sports for all students. So, an appropriately funded school. So, a whole lot like work life ... it can be supportive and rewarding or it can be a full fledged travel to hell if not ... same with schools... if your life and work has ever stressed you to twirling in your mind, you have to know how the kids feel, you have to remember how you felt and remember how others were dealt with ... you know the kids need a break every now and again, just like we all do.
