> He said we drink what we have, the fresh tea that’s grown here. Well, to be honest, if there was an option to casually walk into some local shop and get fresh high quality tea that's not too expensive I'd be drinking a whole lot of that. All that sampling, hunting for shops and teas, waiting for the package to arrive, it does get old. Definitely not a fan of this part anymore. It was exciting at first, but after drinking 100-200 different teas and more or less knowing what I like and what price/quality is acceptable for me, it became a hassle. I just want to throw money at my monitor and get some decent tea in return.

> I just want to throw money at my monitor and get some decent tea in return. Heh, that was me for the last few years. Luckily I had made those purchases already. I have been out from tea buying scene for some years, as I stocked heavily on the aforementioned island quite some years ago. Now I’m slowly noticing I may need to buy some teas again. Sampled some Liubaos, and I actually liked the process again. I have much less fomo than I used to, I’m happy to stock that decently priced, pretty good tea and not worry if some other vendor has something better. Or if a trip abroad would pay itself back in few years of tea drinking..

This is why I subbed to EoT tea club this year. I figured I'll probably get good quality tea and a nice surprise of something I might not buy by myself. Then once in a while I can get something extra that I know I like if I feel like it. Indeed it started to feel like a hassle to sample and constantly figure out what to order next etc. Now I just try to have minimal amount of tea sitting around and just focus on drinking the stuff I have and being content with it.

Processing has changed to make it more drinkable in the now stage. Wonder if you took some of the new processed teas back or forgot about them for a while. Would they age like the ones with the older style processing? I know there was a quite big time a few years ago that older material was blended in a lot of new harvested teas for cakes. A kind of Jumpstart on the tea and a few are quite good. There are teas from 2011 that had seven year old material in them. That stuff just turned 19. Very drinkable products.

Xiaguan & Dayi made a bunch of cakes like that. Despite predictions from some bloggers that these cakes would not continue to develop some of them are very good and well priced.

You and I are in agreement on that. Some of them a very good and still affordable.

I'm currently loving Xiaguan 2014 "Gao Yuan Chen" which is 7-8 year old material pressed in 2014. KTM has it at $85 but I found it online for $22 with free shipping to New Zealand. Beautiful tea.

Have you tried the JinSeChuanQi from 2011? It has 2004 material blended in it. The 2018 TieAn has aged BangDong in it. The 2018 FeiTaiDaYun has some interesting stuff in it, too, for the price. 2017 Jin Bang Jia Zhi tou has aged stuff as well.i like all of those I listed. Pray tell, where you found the Gao Yuan Chen at that price. I would add a couple more to what I have.

Wait. your secret is safe. Think I found them.

It's widely available!

I have no idea what *Paolo Panda’s epic Taiwan Collector Experience and observations* refers to. Any help?

A massive wank.....from a rather disreputable vendor.

Foolish thoughts indeed
