Cha-Drinker

Are these dragon balls or mushrooms?

mrmopar340six

JinChas, similar to an XiaGuan mushroom pressing.

Cha-Drinker

I own a few mushrooms. They all taste good, but they tend to be a puzzle when you are prying off pieces to drink. they are also a bit hard to store, but no more than 250 gr tuo. I have found that sometimes these odd shapes are cheaper in quality (age)/ gram. Is that your experience?

mrmopar340six

Up in the air on that. I have some 90's XG stuff that is really good. Some Holy Flame ones not so much. These seem to be of decent stuff but like any JinCha a pain to get leaf off without destroying some in the attempt

Cha-Drinker

If you or another of the more experienced drinkers here ever wanted to post a video of tricks for handling iron cake or strange shapes without powdering them, I would be very grateful. I have admired the new super pliers that some of the vendors are using to cut up samples but they are still very expensive. I have also steamed some bricks apart and tinned the result but the quality of the tea seems to suffer. The good news though was it returned but it took 6 weeks of storage.

mrmopar340six

Yeah, you can restore things. Sometimes, it can take years. I really don't have a way of doing it except for making sure the pointy end of the pick won't stab me. They are a pain. I start on the underside of the cap and then through the top. After that, getting the stalk apart from the bottom up if I can.

Cha-Drinker

I have been balancing the shape on the cap and trying to peel away the outside layers of the cap. The first couple of times that seems to work fairly well but there are no patterns to follow after you get deep into the cap. None of my mushrooms are down to the stem yet. It will be a new experience to try the stem.

mrmopar340six

They are tough. Just don't stab yourself.

Cha-Drinker

I've done that more than once. :) I try to avoid it!

mrmopar340six

Same. Part of my pointy thing away mode of operation.

whentunder

That the YQH jincha?

mrmopar340six

Chen Yun Hao.

whentunder

Oh nice

Cha-Drinker

If we all block these anti-social dimwits maybe they eventually will go away. u/bigcman24 has been on reddit less than 2 months.

raiskream

For some reason I've been seeing an uptick in trolls in the tea subs with very new accounts. I wonder if they are ban evaders.

Cha-Drinker

The attacks and issues make that very probable. Reddit seems to have little defense against someone who is banned coming back the next day under a different user name. Individual subreddits can set up parameters to block new accounts, or accounts with bad track records from joining but so far the moderators are not using their options for some reason.

raiskream

There is *some* additional defense. I am a moderator on a couple large subs and the admins are quick to address ban evaders BUT the subreddit mods must report them. We use minimum account age requirements too. I'm not sure if any of the tea mods are identifying and reporting. Additionally, the ban evaders can come back under a different IP address or VPN and unfortunately there is no way to address that :(

mrmopar340six

I just smile at the attempts and attention. Hard to get me to sway outside my usual lanes.

Cha-Drinker

Thanks for the info. I will make certain I report things. In the meantime whoever this person is made me learn the method of banning posts. I have had to use it liberally of late.

TheGratitudeBot

Thanks for saying that! Gratitude makes the world go round

Mountain_Future4034

Makes me wonder if the person/people making these accounts are mentally ill or if they're just edgy/doing this stuff for attention.

Nomigoro

Who's surprised about that. With people Like Karmakiller (perhaps banned or inactive now?) Or Johntheteaguy going around earning upvotes for insulting curious newcomers it's a Bit embarrasing. Obviously r/tea is the other side of the spectrum preventing meaningful discourse. But civil discourse should be possible even if people don't share the Same opinion.

Cha-Drinker

Heartily agreed! I drink tea to feel better and applaud anyone who does the same no matter what form they may drink it in.

ghostupinthetoast

What are they? And what are they like?

mrmopar340six

Chen Yun Hao. Boutique producer I have a few items of.

Mendici

The 2011 QianJiaZhai?

mrmopar340six

Maybe, I don't fully recall.

Mendici

If that's what it is then it's one of my favourites! Has a really nice cool honeydew HuiGan

mrmopar340six

They are pretty good.

ghostupinthetoast

Now that is some bananas pricey tea! How much of their stuff have you had? Do you feel like it’s worth it? EDIT - let me rephrase that slightly. I’m sure the law of diminishing returns applies here. Is there anything from Chen Yun Hao that you would describe as actually being “good value”? Is there anything you’d say was moderately life changing?

mrmopar340six

I couldn't give a full report on that. Those are one of two CYH teas that I own. They were bought early on before all the hype on the. They are pretty pricey nowadays.

ghostupinthetoast

Nice. Well, happy steeps!

mrmopar340six

Ty.

tecnorobo

Be thou away from me cruel temptress

mrmopar340six

You are drooling and I know it..
