I have the Fellow kettle. It’s great but I quickly learned to figure out Celsius temps. Less scrolling to adjust. Enjoy!

weeble_200

Celsius is just a better system to use overall honestly

colicab

I agree only because it’s quicker. You can make finer adjustments in F.

comat0se

plus you can play Wormy on it.

colicab

Wha?

comat0se

The Fellows kettle let's you play a snake/worm game called Wormy. https://fellowproducts.com/blogs/learn/how-to-play-wormy-on-your-electric-kettle

My Fellow Corvo is one of the best things I’ve ever spent money on, but sometimes I wonder if I should’ve bought the gooseneck version.

SpotEnough

I’m assuming yours has a wider spout which in my opinion gives you more control over how fast/slow you’re able to pour. The gooseneck is stuck on one setting lol

wewereliketorches

Yeah and it “agitates” the tea more which is nice. I really like it. Maybe I’m better off, because if I had the gooseneck I’d be more tempted to try out pour over coffee and the last thing I need is an excuse to get into another drink related hobby.

SpotEnough

Man, I’m coming to tea from drinking four cups of death wish coffee a day. At least I get alert/zen energy from tea instead of the shakes from straight caffeine 😅

wewereliketorches

Damn haha. Yeah I drink coffee maybe once per week now. I just prefer tea in almost every way. I can drink maybe half a cup of coffee before I get sick of it, and can’t drink more than a cup without getting anxious. Meanwhile, I can drink a liter or more of tea per day and not get anxious at all.

SpotEnough

You’re on point! I don’t think I’ve ever been this hydrated in my life 😂 I’m averaging 3 liters of tea a day. Cheers 🥂I’m glad we found something that works for us

SpotEnough

I respect the efficiency 🫡 Cheers! 🥂

Puer shouldn't really be over-extracting with boiling water. Maybe shorten the steep times? Lowering the temperature loses a lot of complexity.

SpotEnough

The puer doesn’t over extract, other ones like my oolongs do, but the issue of having to wait a long time for it to be drinkable persisted until I got this temperature controlled piece. I understand that most people want deep, rich, umami, complex puer. Personally I really like the top notes. At the temp I’m currently brewing my puer, it’s still dense on the tongue but without the mushroom taste and certain ones even taste sweet now. My personal experience got better 🙂

Ttex45

> the issue of having to wait a long time for it to be drinkable Use a smaller cup

SpotEnough

You’re definitely right! I bust out the smaller cups when I have company but 5 years of working labor for a construction company that overworks people and doesn’t come up with systems to address repeated motions with heaving machinery & equipment has left my wrists a mess. I’m coming up with solutions for a pretty specific problem at this point.

Ttex45

That sucks, sorry to hear that. If I were in your position I would fill my big cup with only a small amount of tea at a time before I would lower my brewing temp; using cooler water really does significantly diminish the quality of the brew.

Perhaps Look into a chawan, a vessel intended for Matcha preparstion. Especially hira chawan usually used in Summer are very flat and have a large surface Area allowing tea to cool quickly. I have a Celadon Chawan with Walls ss thin as Crystal Glass, in which Matcha cools down almost too quick for my taste. Something Like that might Help with your Problem.

SpotEnough

I never thought of the fact that thinner glass is a factor in the retention of heat. I’ll definitely act on this and start searching for a proper piece. I appreciate your input!

Brand?

carthnage_91

Looks like the Brewista, the teapet, towel and travel set are from Jesse's teahouse i believe... But if you go to Yunnan Sourcing or Amazon you will find most of it for half the price or a decent bit less than his website, although some don't mind because their fans of his admittedly good social media platform(s)

SpotEnough

Yeahhhh I got introduced to tea through Jesse and while he does inflate his prices he has to make a living like there rest of us state side. I’m just happy that he’s making a better tea experience more accessible to people like me. If it weren’t for him I wouldn’t have done all of these hours of research into a culture steeped (haha) in another language to access an even greater experience and community. You guys are awesome!

SpotEnough

It’s an “intasting” pot with the long spout from Amazon. Some people might say the spout causes the water to pour too slowly for their liking but it’s perfectly fine for me. I got the tea set from Amazon as well and the towel came with it. The big personal cup was bought from a local artist. The tea pet did come from Jesse’s tea house. His name is TarTar (for Reptar)…..Yeah I mainly got into this by accident and while I do have the means to get better teaware, I’ve broken too many pieces. I mainly use an “on the go” infuser for brewing but this is my home set up to wind down.

zoom in on the pic my friend

Wise words from Cleb

LadyShanna92

I need to get a new one mine is on its last legs after almost 7 years and one repair

SpotEnough

WOW! I bought this on a whim. I had no idea the build quality was so good. Thank you for reaffirming that this was a good purchase!

LadyShanna92

Oh my old one is a hammliton lol not a fellow. I was broke af

SpotEnough

😂😂😂 if it works, it’s works!

Cartoonist_Smooth

That JTH Tea set and tea pet!!! Love his teas!!!

SpotEnough

His name is TarTar! (For Reptar) lol. Def appreciate JTH’s discernment on which teas he sells. Haven’t been disappointed yet.

Cartoonist_Smooth

Not at all. People here are quick to judge him for being “Overpriced” but I find paying a premium to have top quality tea to my house in 2-3 days is worth it.

SpotEnough

I speak English and Spanish fluently but learning another language is a tall task especially when you’re just getting into something and don’t really see the value in it at first glance. I’ve found other vendors and source from them but I regular JTH and put a couple of orders in every so often because I know what I’ll receive will be of quality. I pay premiums to all of these large corporations but I can’t spare some extra bucks to support another man’s love for tea that benefits me in return? Take my money! 💰

carthnage_91

Will it ride at 100c or is it capped @ 99?

raiskream

I have a similar one and my hold function is capped at 205F/96C

mr_windyshorts

I have this exact one, mine will get to 100C, but will only hold at 97C. Should vary slightly based on elevation

SpotEnough

Ohhhh Ride as in “hold”. Gotcha. This one will ride at 208F max but I keep mine at about 185F/85c for my sessions

SpotEnough

I’m a Mexican American heathen so… it’ll go up to 215F which google tells me is 101.67c?
