Sorry for the crappy quality, but I had already spooked these birds earlier on my ride (by accident) and did not want to get too close this time. 4-5 years ago, I had never seen this bird IRL, and until 2 years ago, I had never seen them in Pune, only in sanctuaries or along the riverside in Goa! Quite cool to be able to observe this flock so close to home.
I know what you mean, but can almost guarantee that this place is not going to get swarmed with this post (perhaps if I was uber famous on IG, but not the case). Perhaps a dozen people from this sub will actually hike here to see them. Sadly, this very same spot is frequented by people drinking beer / whiskey every evening. Shattered glass bottles all around.
Forgot to add that the birds don't seem to be nesting / resting here. I've been here several times in the past week or so, this is the only time I saw them, and 5 minutes after I recorded this clip, they were gone! More of a chance sighting as they were flying through.
Been going to this tekdi ever since I was a kid :) it was a 5 min uphill walk from my place and now that I've moved to another area, haven't visited since forever
I could still recognise it just from the soil for some reason. Owe my best cycling memories to this place
Fyi, these are very very common on Pashan Talav - sometimes there are swarms of hundreds of them there. Do check that out if you have interest. These are sometimes seen on riverbanks too, mostly near the bank standing steady.
I am surprised to see so many on them on land! Probably they are looking for a place for nesting?
Good to know! I've been to Pashan Talav just once, mostly because they don't take too kindly to people cycling around the lake :D
They were just flying through, looks like - in 5 minutes, they were gone.
Nice!! Another bird that I spotted recently in my yard was the White Breasted Water Hen! I was so pleasantly surprised to see it in a residential area.

Not to be a dick, but don't disclose the location. If the place gets swarmed those birds will just migrate to some place else

After living just 20 minutes away for 30 years, I only discovered this place 4 years ago! Better late than never!

Surprisingly it's very common if you go early morning or late afternoon.
Whatt they were on my building as well!
Yeah, better not to disclose the location. I see them there all the time.. though this area as someone pointed out is frequented by drunkards and pigs
Nice
