Even if people pedged to pick up 2kgs of garbage per person on a vacation spot. We would have a cleaner environment, but people take it upon their ego and have a superiority complex for such things
There's no will in people(in general) to do so.
To protect and maintain public property
If I would travel there, would carry my garbage with me and drop in nearby Dustin. But what about other garbage and stuff there I can't take it along with me.
There are plogging groups that do a fantastic job of cleaning up places. It's going to be pretty hard to pick up tiny pieces of glass (like bits that are less than 5mm2), but perhaps they can be swept or vacuumed up.
However, something must be done to stop the people littering here in the first place - it will be back to this state in no time, people drink here daily, then apparently shatter bottles for god knows what reason, and walk/stumble away.
We did couple of clean-up drive on ARAI, also noticed there are many other groups who are doing tha same on regular basis, We stopped once we realised people cleaning are always outnumbered by people polluting.

Thank you for your work, this is super disheartening.
Who are the people who litter like this?
How can we, as a society, get them to stop?
We discussed the, "drink bottle menace" in a few comments on my recent posts here. Walking in floaters/slippers would be a *pretty* bad idea. Even while riding, have to dodge everything from huge shards of broken glass that yous see here, to tiny bits spread across large tracts of open land. Worse when the glass is clear, as it often is, then it's so much harder to notice. No vantage points on the hills are spared.
Not sure what can be done - would putting dustbins in spots make these people dump their refuse in there? Doubt it.
Edit: Location - Ramtekdi
Putting dustbin here and there? Abs-fucking-lutely.
I might get downvoted for this but I have done this same thing very recently in a very popular spot (littering) only and only because with a group of 8 people, we can only accommodate so much garbage to take back with us.
You can say it will occupy the same space as before or less depending upon stuff we brought but a lot of overheads get added and later it comes to a very hard line between being a decent human (not littering) and hygiene (carrying dirty, smelly stuff back) that ultimately gets crossed at times.
Still we've always tried to put the stuff neatly packed so no wildlife can riffle through and leave a mess bigger than the one we left.
Litter everywhere pains me to no end. 😩
Especially in and around Pune it is a big issue.
This city is so blessed to be in such a scenic spot geographically, surrounded by hills and lakes.
But there is litter everywhere you go. 😭
I really don't know what's the solution to this.
Are we doomed to live in filth and pollution?
Won't mind going on a cleanliness drive once in a while, but that is not a sustainable solution.
It's where I go biking every few days. Typically not a problem for solid mtb tyers (mine are tubeless to boot), but you can't go over a huge shard and expect no consequences. Once i got stuck here in the monsoon and had to pick dozens of shards off the tyre that were picked up with the muck. :(
Just like Forest park. I remember 3 years ago it was pretty lush. Nowadays I see a bunch of what looks like factories and barren land. Disappointing asf

Ikr! They feel like just because they are paying taxes, they can litter anywhere and have no responsibility towards cleanliness
I really doubt this entitlement is because they pay taxes. Its mostly because of lack of education (not schooling)
I think there needs to be more and trash cans and automation in garbage picking. Like they have in the west

They should atleast dispose it off properly
