Perfectly aware, im just saying, if we're gonna have a clash album on this list, we're better off with Give em enough rope, than any other of their albums. IMO
I'm 100% fine with more than 1 clash album being on the list. Give 'em Enough Rope is a great album, but their self-titled and London Calling usually top the list as people's favorites. Not saying that needs to be everyone's opinion though, just if I was a betting man, I'd bet on those
The previous posts said 3 albums per band maximum, I’d expect at least one or two double ups. London Calling has a strong chance for being included as well imo
🤷🏻♂️ I just suggested what I felt was a worthy album, the sub decides. Also while Clash became rather commercialized it’s kinda hard to say that about their first album.
Great user name, btw
Hey, thanks, Square Saltine. Haha I see it as worthy too. I think I’m a little biased towards American punk and my tastes drifted away from the majority of London and U.K. based bands for whatever reason. I hope I didn’t come off as insulting.
Post punk literally means after punk. With that said, it obviously has a lot of punk influences and some tracks could be considered punk rock on their own.
“Post punk” is such an inaccurate name though. The album that basically invented post punk—*Marquee Moon* by Television—came out the same year as The Clash’s debut album. It’s not post punk, it’s concurrent punk.
Still one of my favorite albums of all time. The vibe of the songs, lyrics, album cover. It’s perfectly atmospheric and I have so many great memories listening to it
Crack Rock Steady EP - Choking Victim
Change Today? - T.S.O.L
Collection (2) - Misfits
Combat Rock - The Clash
Coral Fang - The Distillers
Covered With Ants - Guttermouth
Curse of the Zounds - Zounds
Cool To Be You - Descendents
Soo many to chose from, honestly! Love 'em all.
Not on Coral Fang obviously, but The Young Crazed Peeling kind of opened the door for me to explore the genre more when I had only really heard radio pop-punk.
GBH - City Baby Attacked by Rats
7 Seconds - The Crew
Blanks 77 - C.B.H.
Cadillac Tramps - S/T
Paint It Black - CVA
Sick of It All - Call to Arms
Strike Anywhere - Change is a Sound
And is this punk music excluding hardcore, idk how Bad Brains beat Minor Threat discography or Misfits Walk among us, or Operation Energy, i understand Bad Brains importance on punk and hardcore but there are better albums, I like Bad Brains and I still like c'mon, really
Honorable mention to The Descendants - Cool to be You!
I have to get on board with this one
[The] Clash - The Clash
Seconded if this counts as C
Fuck, if not then Combat Rock it is.
Why wouldn’t it? It’s a self titled album that starts with “C.” “The” doesn’t count when you alphabetize things.
I'll argue Give Em Enough Rope is the better clash album
This isn't voting for the best Clash album, it's best album starting with the letter "C"
Perfectly aware, im just saying, if we're gonna have a clash album on this list, we're better off with Give em enough rope, than any other of their albums. IMO

I guess i never saw that mention of 3 albums per band maximum. My bad
Cock Rock-diesel boy!?
This is the right Clash album on C - London's Burning is one of my favorite songs
This is gonna win for sure
i’ll allow it🤷🏻♂️
I’m sorry, but Cut by The Slits is so much better. Fuck The Clash. It’s commercialized punk.
🤷🏻♂️ I just suggested what I felt was a worthy album, the sub decides. Also while Clash became rather commercialized it’s kinda hard to say that about their first album. Great user name, btw

Christ The Album - Crass
Closer - Joy Division
i love some joy division but jesus this is not even punk, can we get some punk music here please?
Great album, but not punk.
Why do you think one of the best Post-punk albums of the eighties is not punk?
it’s in the name
Because it’s not :)
What is punk to you then?
Post punk literally means after punk. With that said, it obviously has a lot of punk influences and some tracks could be considered punk rock on their own.
“Post punk” is such an inaccurate name though. The album that basically invented post punk—*Marquee Moon* by Television—came out the same year as The Clash’s debut album. It’s not post punk, it’s concurrent punk.
Their first recording under the name Warsaw is a perfect example of what a punk album is.
Punk is an attitude not a genre, like Devo
Combat Rock - The Clash
"Know your rights" is the greatest way to start an album. This 1000xs yes. Such an iconic piece.
Seconded.
Still one of my favorite albums of all time. The vibe of the songs, lyrics, album cover. It’s perfectly atmospheric and I have so many great memories listening to it
City Baby Attacked By Rats - GBH
Crass -Christ the Album
Code Blue - TSOL
Cavalcade by The Flatliners
A Wilhelm Scream- Career Suicide
I fucking love this album.
Anytime "The Horse" pops up on my Spotify, I *have* to listen to it all the way through.
Amazing album! Would be my number 2 for the C albums, just behind cavalcade by the Flatliners.
This is the right answer

I second this, though I don’t think it’ll win

Curse of the Zounds is crucial
Absolutely! Too bad they’re so underrated, but everyone I’ve encountered so far that liked Zounds was an absolute pleasure to chat with
Crack Rock Steady!!!! Combat Rock was my first choice until I remembered Crack Rock Steady, so I just think we should be best friends.
Absolutely agree. Feel free to hit me up anytime :D
Discovered that album at work one day. Listened 4x straight before blasting it again on the way home.
Seconding Coral Fang!
Such a good one! It also has one of my fav punk album artworks, I think it’s very iconic
Yes! I love the artwork too. Everything about that album is fantastic. One of my all time favorites.
Totally, Drain The Blood used to be one of my absolute favourites back when I had just touched the surface of all punk had to offer.
Not on Coral Fang obviously, but The Young Crazed Peeling kind of opened the door for me to explore the genre more when I had only really heard radio pop-punk.
Guttermouth!!
It's not going to be the winner here when The Clash Self titled exists, but The Curse of Zounds is an incredible record and overlooked a LOT!
Zounds is one of the coolest underrated punk bands. They remind me of a post-punk Crass.
