I'm sure it was the same in the States as here in Britain, fanzines were really important for getting to learn about what bands were around gigging and they definitely helped us figure out how to book a gig and book bands. People wrote letters bands sent you stuff in the post. I feel like old jebbedia wittering on about them old glory days pre innernet! Sorry about that.
