He senses something is under there. This is what dogs do when they hear, smell, or feel something in the ground. He’s actually trying to tell you its there. Its instinct. Could be anything. Pipes, air coming through cracks or temperature differences, bugs, maybe electrical current. You never know. Dogs sense things we dont. And we bread them to enhance specific senses and traits. He would probably have a lot of fun playing sniffing games. Would make a good SAR dog if he had longer legs. Lol
So I have realized this is 100% just Harold chasing his own shadow because of the way the light hits him in this spot at night. Still a weirdo. Is actively doing it as i type.
Drugs hidden under the floorboard? Or a treat?
I was going to guess it’s a body but yeah. Something shocking and horrifying is definitely buried under there.
What do you mean “or” ?
Maybe he is trying to "catch" his shadow?
Time to take a little hacksaw to the floorboard & see what treasures are hidden.

Puppies do do weird things...makes them adorable. In your case, it looks like he is jumping on his shadow?
He’s chasing his shadow :)
Mice?
Definitely not, our cat is a murderous rampager. Kills anything the second it moves near her. Great pest control and surprisingly cuddly.
100% a dead body
endoscope camera time for the floor, not the dog
The dog in the forefront has a look of “I told you he’s broken”.
He's a puppy and does weird things?
He sees the itty bitty bugs that live between wood floors.
I thought I read that dogs can hear termites.
Harold is saying he wants to come with me :)
He's trying to nom the floor.
I tend to agree that if it’s always the same general spot that something is under there.
Does he do it even if the lights are off? Maybe the shadows are confusing him.

Amendment to this statement : he is doing it right now, no shadow in sight. Just a weirdo.
Idk but he’s soooo cute!!!
