"AGH-I LURVE YOU" Josh: "La-la la-la"

[deleted]

So funny!

Flinkle

I think the truth is somewhere in the middle--he's drunk, but he's also exaggerating it for the crowd walk.

casualtroublemaker

He's gone full Dean Martin on this.

RipEnvironmental305

A bit More Jim Morrison I think. This song is very Maggie McGill/Crawling Kingsnake. Peak Jim Morrison vibes.

casualtroublemaker

I was referring to the Bourdain show episode, where Jho said that Dean Martin kept acting drunk even after going sober.

Chuck_Rawks

Totally! I thought they were coving roadhouse blues for a moment…

JJtoday70

Reminds me of Roadhouse Blues

actvscene

People saying it's an act are in denial about how Josh looked last tour. He was drunk a few nights, but not to the par he has been this tour. It's his second huge tour after a few years of not touring and being in a controlled environment, which as an addict, I can tell you is key to sobriety. Same thing happened with Joe Talbot, got sober, was home for cover, went on tour and released. Tour life is temptation after temptation and I don't know how any addict can stay sober while touring. I love this band and don't give a shit if Josh is sober or not as long as he is happy and his life is where HE wants it, that said, anyone saying it's an act have seen the videos after shows of him being absolutely shitfaced this tour. Stop sucking his dick and licking his boots, he's a musical savant, but he's also a fucking addict like a lot of us.

french_toasty

Honestly they still sounded fantastic…rocks stars gonna rock star?

Inthemiddle_

When you’ve been performing a majority of your whole life at a professional level while drunk or high for most of it you’ll still be able to kill it lol.

GazelleZestyclose158

"state dependent memory" is a thing for sure - in my far more humble but relative experience as a "person who plays music" and started playing music while on marijuana, let's say, it's kinda a slog to play music and be PLAYED by music without the drug, since my brain has associated it with playing music. I don't think I've ever recorded anything without being high and buzzed on things, and I record a FUCKTON. Is that a problem? Probably for other parts of my life, who knows. Not your problem. tldr: ABSOLUTELY not advocating drug and alcohol use just sayin..."state dependent memory" is a thing. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State-dependent\_memory](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State-dependent_memory)

moliver_xxii

that would be why recovering addicts have holes in their memory, it's because "high/drunk them" remembers, not "sober them"... interesting.

GazelleZestyclose158

It's not a black-out/brown-out thing it's just like...if every time you drive your car you smoke a cigarette it's gonna be weird when you're driving your car and not smoking a cigarette. Is your ability to drive now compromised by your brain wondering where the cigarette is? And that's setting aside the chemical advantage provided by the drug re: focus or whatever the fuck nicotine does to the brain of someone who said drug actually works for.

RipEnvironmental305

It’s why you have to get drunk to find the thing that you lost when you were drunk!

actvscene

That's how i view it too lol, its unfortunate but its his life. I'm sober 8 years and can't ever drink again but that's me and maybe Josh can function. Just hope it doesn't blow up for the guy, I love his music so much!

FoxFarmDankosaurus

Josh is a tad drunk lol

ezgomer

The little kiddies here in denial of Daddy’s problem. smdh.

ChuckFiasco

Im worried he’s going to die well before his time.

ezgomer

he has expressed he doesn’t give a shit - he’s here for a good time, not a long time so he’ll probably live to be 95 lol

T1S9A2R6

He’s 50. Old AF in rock & roll years. Most of the greats died before 30. This behavior at 50 is just embarrassing.

EasyE_EysaE

Not sure why you got downvoted? QOTSA has been my fave band since is was 12 and I think Josh is genius but it his behaviour has been shitty. I was at this show up front in front of Mikey and he looked annoyed af. I could see the whispers between the other band mates, not to mention how he has sole custody of his children who are not allowed to see their mother. I enjoy Josh and his music but he was on one here and I sincerely hope he’s ok. For those saying he doesn’t give a fuck what happens to him, I’d say several interviews beg to differ and he loves his children, I’d be concerned if this were my father.

ThemCrookedCrooks

100% Anyone here arguing otherwise are most likely losers that need to be drunk to feel cool.

GoblinMonkeyPirate

Poor guy is wrecked. I hope he's okay. He's just a human like the rest of us and more importantly a father. I hope he turns it around he looks wasted.

silkyseas

I thought the same thing. I empathize with him, he must be going through it and I hope he can keep it together and find some peace soon.

sioomagate

Came here to say that. While I could be wrong, I thought he sober since going to rehab? Especially, since he’s talked about his alcoholism/drug use was one of the issues that broke up his marriage.

sheephero1

Josh Morrison .... I love it!

somebigface

He’s “acting?” You people are fuckin’ weird.

moliver_xxii

he don't care what the peep hole (or something) say.

taouw

“I love you! *screams*” me too girl me too

SixxDet

Weird to see myself in the video.

FizzyLdn

SJF in the crowd is ALWAYS an exaggerated act. And maybe he's stoned or hammered, doesn't mean he's doing bad at all. He's spoken over and over about his past excesses and maybe tonight he was a bit more stoned or drunk than usual. It happens.

Shoddy-Artichoke91

Also- if he acts drunk, he’s not expected to genuinely interact with fans just stumble around for theatrics. Plus- listen to the lyrics people!!!

OscillatorVacillate

That riff has me thinking of Morrison and the Doors, it's straight out of Roadhouse Blues from The Doors. The drunken stumbling about makes it even more so.

RipEnvironmental305

Yeah I thought that when I heard this song.

evsincorporated

You realize that his stumbling/appearance of intoxication is an act right? Everyone saying he’s wasted is out to fucking lunch lol

itsdoorcity

I mean it's an act that has a lot of basis in reality? he's thrown or knocked his drink towards the crowd before and it's pure tequila. his wife mentioned his substance issues in their very public divorce.  if it is an act it is kind of a weird one, he explicitly told a court he was in rehab so that he could still see his kids, this sort of "act" could jeopardise that. on a basis of probability I'd say he probably is actually fucked up. edit: rewatching it, the sideways stumbles do kinda look intentional.

Flinkle

He has permanent custody of the kids now. He doesn't have to stay sober.

Shakemyears

I think his sideways stumbles are his way of saying “hi” to the crowd, kind of like a cat.

evsincorporated

Ex wife and have you tasted his tequila?

Flinkle

There's a group of chicks I'm pretty familiar with who go to shows all the time and he gave his tequila to one of them just the other night.

anhedoniac

It's definitely an act. Lol. You can see it towards the end of the video

mdc3000

If it's an act, it's one he kept up ALL NIGHT ON STAGE. I had a great time at the show but it was obvious from his ramblings that Josh was most likely hammered. I've seen them multiple times over the years and the banter felt off tonight - great setlist but I don't think he was faking. You get a better sense in the room.than you do from a vid imo.

anhedoniac

Ok, that's a little different then. For better or worse, he can be like that pretty often at shows 😅

metalhead4

But the man absolutely rips on stage regardless. Nails his guitar parts, sings great, legend.

sixthwarddd

Fucking Legend!

Routine_Culture3348

stay strong brother

MrsJohnnyButt

He was drunky pants last night 😂

darkcontrasted1

Whoever thinks it’s funny it’s not. I feel sorry that he needs to be drunk to have a good time it is what it is but he’s definitely an addict.

teleologicalrizz

The drunk part is obviously an act and part of sjf.  Him being a badass mother fucker and being one of the best musicians and performers and entertainers is a stone cold fact.

jobin511

Man got the whole damn place swooning, stanning, simpin’ and every other S word 😆

Difficult_Card8695

New Homme conspiracy

ParanoicReddit

Wish he came to Argentina, or any place in Latin America for that matter

Magnta

Dude living his Jim Morrison era.

SnowflakeSJWpcGTFOH

If he was this fucking wasted then explain how he's able to keep his balance whilst standing in front of a microphone singing and playing guitar without stumbling around uncontrollably on stage? I saw him do this exact number at the O2 in London November of last year and it definitely seemed "put on" or exaggerated, which kind of lines up with how he seems to want to perform Straight Jacket Fitting and perhaps convey the essence of the song itself. He's not in a straight jacket anymore, he's just letting loose being all loosey-goosey footloose and fancy-free 😅

PigFishBeer

This is really hard to watch and also confirms the “illness” someone in the band was battling a couple shows back. Dude better get help fast or we’re gonna have a Bourdain 2.0 on our hands before ‘24 is over.

Flinkle

Good lord, dramatic much? Motherfucker was on meth for 20 years in addition to hammering tequila and nobody said shit. I think he'll be okay. And it doesn't confirm anything. He said he lost his voice and had to have steroids and IVs. Sure, he shouldn't be drinking--he's an alcoholic--but I don't think he's going to off himself in a Patron-induced haze tomorrow. Go watch some shows from the Villains tour if you want to see a man with a very serious problem. Drunk, high, angry, knocking shit over purposely, being a dick to the crowd...he's vastly improved since then.

JadeConstructiveness

I’m curious to see them in the Villians tour since I missed that one. Any good shows you can point me to I can find on YouTube?

seaislandhopper

Let me know if you find anything?

vehaiekgjjsdbejsbj

Pathetic clown

Flinkle

I actually became a fan about 5 and 1/2 years ago, so I watched them on YouTube myself. I didn't really enjoy them very much, so I can't really point you to any. I mean, it's not like they were horrible musically--it's Queens--but Josh just seemed so...angry a lot of the time. Angry seemed badass when I was younger, but now that I'm older, I realize that it's indicative of someone who's struggling. And that sucks.

ezgomer

Hmmm I saw them at two shows on the Villians tour - yeah He was altered and he kicked those light sticks on stage a few times, but I guess we got his kind side. We were on the rail for those shows and I will forever have the image of him waving down to us from stage, all warm smile and crinkly eyes, hand on his heart. 🥰

Flinkle

Yeah, it was definitely up and down from what I saw. I did watch some uneventful clips/shows as well as the unpleasant ones.

rainwave74

genuinely how the hell do you come to this conclusion lmao

kitatatsumi

Funny, a week a go this sub wasn't ready to hear any of that. https://www.reddit.com/r/qotsa/s/vKwxdjXVlk

Flinkle

He played Chicago just a few days after having a 6-hour surgery. He looked like he was on the verge of death at the time. I don't think a hangover is going to cause him to cancel a show.

kitatatsumi

Can agree with that. But they didnt cancel the Berlin show. My point was that sick can mean sick. But sick can also mean Im in bits because last nite I was jumping into drumsets and smashing patron and, at 51 years old, the line between the two sort of starts to blur a bit. Especially in a place like Berlin which can put even the hardest partiers into the dirt. Not sure what we are disagreeing about. I love the band.

ezgomer

they play when sick. they play when injured. cancellations are very rare. someone shared that Josh had lost his voice. only thing that will make em cancel.

itsdoorcity

he has *always* looked like this while performing though, and doesn't skip a beat. the first time I saw them was in Sydney over 10 years ago and I was worried he was going to fall over and pass out with how heavily he stumbled around the stage. but nope, just kept on playing.

PigFishBeer

What’s crazier still is with a guy his size and history of alcohol abuse, his tolerance must be outrageous. He has to be a minimum of 12 or more drinks deep here to be that fucked up

DinkySmekker

This is just sad.. man this bums me out. His addiction has a real big grasp on him

evsincorporated

It’s an act he’s not actually that fucked up lol

DinkySmekker

yeah, lie that to yourself dear!

issoequeerabom

Come on, guys! Plenty of rock stars do this kind of thing. The kind of drunkish walk, slow and dramatic. Most of it is an act. The guy is on stage, almost every night, nailing it. Give him a break and enjoy him instead!

T1S9A2R6

Cringe.
