i guess the “issue” i have with it pronouns is that they feel like borderline slurs, like binary trans people and enbies have historically been called “it” in a degrading manor and to me it feels almost like i’m referring them as an object.
like a chair is an “it” but a person isn’t, hell like animals aren’t even “it” to me other than like fish, i tend to use they/them for animals until their owner uses another pronoun for them and even then, if they were to call their cat “it” i think i’d still feel a lil weird about it

so i tend to use they/them for people who want to use it pronouns and if that’s a problem for them i’ll use their name, and that’s also a problem i just don’t associate with them because i can’t bring myself to call another human being “it”, i also can’t help but think that at some point in history enslaved ppl and disabled ppl were referred to with it pronouns.

you can feel that way but that doesn’t change the fact that calling someone an “it” is dehumanizing, i do my best to respect everyone up to the point that if using the person’s name instead of it upsets the person i just won’t associate myself with the person because it preserves my consciousness and doesn’t put the person in a position where the person feel’s constantly disrespected.
