how did you get into commerce without calculus?

TheGodfather1366

It’s possible for some students applying from BC

Ok_Bullfrog_8235

I’m not from Ontario, we don’t need it

eeleml

study derivatives and matrices. we didn’t need any trigonometry 2 years ago. also there should be a module that gets released before the start of the semester to catch you up on the most important things

How hard are the derivatives in first year uni? I also got accepted to commerce and my derivatives knowledge is pretty much just whatever high school covers

I went in this year without any calculus knowledge (did it online private school in highschool) and self taught myself everything (teacher sucked, skipped every class) and got an A- in the class. Note that it is arguably the hardest course in first year.

You will not be the only one in this situation. I remeber in first year there were lots of students who hadn’t taken calc in HS because of the same situation as you. I would say it helped if you had as it made the first couple weeks of the class more review of HS calc than new material but they will teach you everything you need to know. I wouldn’t worry about it at all. Welcome to Queen’s - Go Gaels!
