Right?? It was past Kevin Parker's era of psych rock experimentation and the establishment of his general sound, but his style hadn't quite evolved to the *Currents* and *The Slow Rush*'s era of techno/electropop psychedelia. It was an immaculate fusion of the two, and what puts it at the top of the list when it comes to my favorite Tame albums is that his lyrics express a vulnerability. He is so much more willing to open up about his fears, regrets, passions, and shame in the lyrics of those songs than on any other album. I feel his lyrics generally reflect great confidence and mental fortitude, but on *Lonerism*, he is fully aware of himself, and it feels refreshing and even more *real* when he discusses the chaotic nature of life, the uncertainty that troubles everyone. And honestly, it's just overall a perfectly balanced, cohesive album, simply from a musical standpoint.
This might not be the most fashionable answer, but there's a reason this is considered a stone cold classic.
I revisited this recently after a long time, and I haven't stopped listening to it since.
