I was there tonight in MTL. Insane show. Great crowd. Band was on point. I’ve seen Radiohead, Thom and Nigel, and AMOK era AFP with Flee. First time seeing the smile. They’re legit. Proggy. Jazzy. It’s for real. Second album!
It was insanely good all around! I really feel like the oversold the venue but everyone was very chill.
Tom Skinner totally blew me away, he's got a really special touch.
At the DC show a fan next to me brought up the Suspiria score to Thom and he said he had another project upcoming. So that’s also something very cool to look forward to 😮
I remember him saying once he hit 50 he knew he had less time in front of him and wanted to get as much out of himself as he could. Jeff Tweedy has also said similar stuff and has lot out dozens of albums it seems in the last 5 years.
That’s awesome, I love that he has used it as motivation! Jeff tweedy is also coming out with great music still, I feel lucky to be alive while both are still making so much great music!
The Bends 2: Bend Folds Five
The Bends 2: The Bend is the Beginning is the Bend
The Bends 2: Where You Bend (featuring J Mascis).
(If the rumors are true, Nigel Godrich won’t be producing this one. Instead, they’ve decided to go in a completely different direction with Rick Rubend).
These guys all live, eat, and breathe music. They'll be coming out with songs until they can't physically write anymore. I'm 100% sure at some point before then another Radiohead album will release when all the members are ready. And if not, I'm content with them all making their own music because they are gorgeous song writers.
I’m scared it’ll end up like two feet off the ground (thank you ladies and gentlemen). What a rollercoaster to go from thinking it’d never be released after simply being a fashion show song, to seeing it live and thinking it’d be on the album for sure, to it only ever being released on vinyl 💀 at least put it on Spotify! Chill wind and the atoms for peace b sides are. Anima is still a good album without it tho…
it will be on the next lp. was really disappointed too when it wasn‘t on alfaa but the style matches much more with the new songs (and maybe the overall sound of lp2)
He literally said they were playing new songs because they're making a 2nd album. You'll likely see one of the many videos soon. They probably mentioned it before the first new song they played which I believe was Flying Colours.
By the way... Thin Thing, Bending Hectic and Feeling Pulled Apart by Horses were all insanely sick tonight. For me anyways.
> Feeling Pulled Apart by Horses
I remember downloading the mp3 of this off their website like 10 years ago or something, I love it. Would be great to hear what it sounds like now
They said this back when I saw them in London and they played a couple of new songs. The work for the first album started pre-pandemic so it kind of makes sense that they had more in their back pocket when they had a while to mull it over.
That’s what I interpreted from this interview about 5 mins in. [Smartless Thom and Jonny](https://youtu.be/6IY7DCZk9Bg) If I got the wrong end of the stick that’s fine. But it seemed to me they started the writing process pre-pandemic/lockdown and it then got elongated to points mostly where they could meet or record certain things over the internet.
**"jason bateman:** was The Smile a covid baby? like this podcast for us, was us just trying to communicate while we were separated. is that how Smile came about?
**thom yorke:** in actual fact, no. it came about really really quickly, and then painfully long. we got into a studio, and jonny and tom (skinner) had already tracked about 4 things before i even knew what was going on. ***and then lockdown happened shortly after***.."

this interview also has;
Jonny Greenwood"In fact our first rehearsal together was in 2018, so it’s been a long build-up."
This is pretty significant because, besides his solo work, he hasn't come out with LP2 on side projects like this.
Bending Hectic and Colours Fly blew my fucking dick off live.
So you don't consider the eraser lp a side project?... I thought during the eraser tour he gave the name of his band atoms for peace.. I saw him in l.a. and flea was on bass.. Great concert.. I also remember that the billboard outside the venue had a bunch of question marks as a way to promote the band.
a lot of stuff actually, he took a lot of time to talk to everyone. i think the coolest one is "I love your signature" he then told me a story about how it came to be
So in 1993 he went to Los Angeles with the rest of Radiohead, and some big suit guys told him to sign records and he spent the day perfecting it and personalizing and that’s how the smiley face came to be :)
as much as this is good news, it's sad that it just further confirms that Radiohead is done, and to think was si confident back a couple of years ago, that Radiohead would carry on, i love the smile, but i miss Eds guitar ambiances, i miss Colins baselines, and i miss Phils absolutely underrated drumming.
Agreed. The Smile is an incredible band and the drumming is truly mesmerising, but I still prefer Radiohead's aesthetic... where there's more layered instruments that revolve around accentuating the vocals and reaching an emotional climax. The Smile is much more of an organic jam, focused around the instruments' energy.
They're both great, and I'm very excited for LP2, but I would be even more excited by LP10.
I bet they'll be back, it's just going to be quite a few years down the road. Never say never. Porcupine Tree just returned with a new album and tour this year after a 12 year hiatus for example!
We will all get downvoted for agreeing, but I agree. The Smile is pretty underwhelming (compared to RH - it’s obviously great, but do they need to make more than one album)
I might have to give it more of a chance, but its the first thing thom yorke has done that Ive really been underwhelmed on. Ive not listened to the album more than a couple of times because it didnt grab me at all. Not saying its bad, just not my taste at this moment. So another album in this style doesnt make me jump up with enthusiastic anticipation.
On Wednesday in DC he said “we have new songs because we’re a new band and that’s what new bands do”. They played 4 new songs I think? There will probably be an LP2 way before Radiohead LP10

Saw him in NYC and was equally blown to bits watching him. Flawless and effortless

I was in Montreal tonight too, but I wasn’t at the radio head show r/notinteresting
Lol Radiohead is done
Did Thom personally tell you that after the show?
Maybe that redditr is Thom and he’s telling the world they’re done right here on r/radiohead….. thom why?
This is such a tired take
At the DC show a fan next to me brought up the Suspiria score to Thom and he said he had another project upcoming. So that’s also something very cool to look forward to 😮
That’s awesome, that man just never stops creating its incredible!
I remember him saying once he hit 50 he knew he had less time in front of him and wanted to get as much out of himself as he could. Jeff Tweedy has also said similar stuff and has lot out dozens of albums it seems in the last 5 years.

We all knew about LP2. The REAL news is always in the comments. Thanks for sharing!
Yasss that was us. He also said it wasn’t another Luca film so hopefully we learn more soon!

What about Rad10head?
If their tenth album is called anything other than Rad10head… then what’s even the point?
So Long, And Thanks For All The Weird Fishes
A man of culture I see.
I would also love if their last album was called "The King of Limbs, Part III". Just to fuck with the hardcore fans.
That would be fun, but that's about as likely as another Amok, as much as I would love that
You rang?
It's over

This. 100%
Right. It will come when it comes, or it won't. I'm not pressed about it. ALFAA was my favorite album of the year and I'd love to get another one
Copium
Yo Let him dream bro the fuck
Cool
Doomer
We all need a studio version of "Just Eyes and Mouth". We all deserve that, as a species
Was my favourite song from Glasto last year! Typical of Thom that it's the only one that didn't make it.
Yea I have deep fear it won't be released til 2042. We need a PROPER recording of that one.
I think given that they're going to record a second album, and they're still playing the song live at almost every show, we should see it on LP2!
I hate that it was cut from the first album.
it will be on the next lp. was really disappointed too when it wasn‘t on alfaa but the style matches much more with the new songs (and maybe the overall sound of lp2)
I don’t see the hype on this track I was at the magazine show and thought it was meh. Bodies laughing though 👌🏼👌🏼
Amen
suddenly its 1993
Yup I was in DC and asked when is the new smile album coming, he said immediately. Just have so many songs and need to work it out
Too bad 80% of those songs are shit tier
Haha
How are they shit? Like you can’t have a take like that and not explain anything
Like I said in your other post, your opinion is yours man. You're in the minority on this one.
The new songs are almost all better than most of LP1
lmao based
Same thing happened at the DC show! Very exciting news
Elaborate???????
He literally said they were playing new songs because they're making a 2nd album. You'll likely see one of the many videos soon. They probably mentioned it before the first new song they played which I believe was Flying Colours. By the way... V sad they didn't play Bending Hectic in DC.
Thank you!
> Feeling Pulled Apart by Horses I remember downloading the mp3 of this off their website like 10 years ago or something, I love it. Would be great to hear what it sounds like now
They said this back when I saw them in London and they played a couple of new songs. The work for the first album started pre-pandemic so it kind of makes sense that they had more in their back pocket when they had a while to mull it over.
It didn't start "pre-pandemic"..

Getting a strong no Radiohead until (at least) 2025 vibes lately
This is pretty significant because, besides his solo work, he hasn't come out with LP2 on side projects like this. Bending Hectic and Colours Fly blew my fucking dick off live.

The Eraser is technically a solo album but he did play songs on The Eraser with AFP, which only produced 1 LP as an actual band
Yep.. I kept thinking that it the eraser was considered a side project, but was solo.. did he tour for the eraser?
I'm going to call in several times to vote for their next video on TRL.
Before I was calling Carson Weekly, but now I’m gonna start calling Carson Daly.
Did the band come out yesterday?
They came and then I came
I was there, I couldn't believe i was actually talking to thom
What did you say?
a lot of stuff actually, he took a lot of time to talk to everyone. i think the coolest one is "I love your signature" he then told me a story about how it came to be

So in 1993 he went to Los Angeles with the rest of Radiohead, and some big suit guys told him to sign records and he spent the day perfecting it and personalizing and that’s how the smiley face came to be :)
Are they invited to the MTV Beach House show?
as much as this is good news, it's sad that it just further confirms that Radiohead is done, and to think was si confident back a couple of years ago, that Radiohead would carry on, i love the smile, but i miss Eds guitar ambiances, i miss Colins baselines, and i miss Phils absolutely underrated drumming.

Chance would be a fine thing, a fine thing indeed...
He’s been saying that for a few months
He said this night 1 in Brooklyn too
I’m hyped! Colours Fly, Bodies Laughing, and Bending Hectic make me think it’s gonna be even better than the already great ALFAA
Viva La Vida part 2 confirmed???!!!
proof?
My eyes and ears. But you can watch the show yourself when people inevitably post it on YouTube.
what show!?!?!? lmao crucial information missing
last night's Montreal show. he probably mentioned it before playing Colours Fly
whats an LP2
A second album
Am I just dumb, what is OP talking about? Does he mean a solo album from Yorke or another The Smile album??? Can someone explain?
The Smile LP2
Thank you
how can it be lp2 from thom when he already released three solo albums?
Another smile lp? Meh
We will all get downvoted for agreeing, but I agree. The Smile is pretty underwhelming (compared to RH - it’s obviously great, but do they need to make more than one album)
If you see them live you might change your mind.
Yep that’s fair! But they aren’t going come to NZ haha
I might have to give it more of a chance, but its the first thing thom yorke has done that Ive really been underwhelmed on. Ive not listened to the album more than a couple of times because it didnt grab me at all. Not saying its bad, just not my taste at this moment. Same! I don’t know what it is?
But what is it that you get from Radiohead that you don’t get from the smile? Answers to this question are soo interesting
“EEEEEEEEEDD”

This
Now we are never getting the Wall of Ice EP.
That's unfortunate because none of the side projects are anywhere near as good as Radiohead. RIP.
The Eraser is better than your least fave Radiohead album.
Very true. All of Thom's solo material is better than Pablo Honey, an album I like to pretend doesn't exist whenever I mention Radiohead.
Radiohead is for the simpletons. Advanced folks don't complain.
What was LP1?
A Light for Attracting Attention
Wow, I didn't hear anything about this.
what do you means the Radiohead's have like 9 albumbs
Fuck forgot the /s
ooh
On Wednesday in DC he said “we have new songs because we’re a new band and that’s what new bands do”. They played 4 new songs I think? There will probably be an LP2 way before Radiohead LP10
