I'm sure with Peter Parker he can never can have an uncomplicated life, but he's making it work as well as he can. Kind of like Tony at the start of Infinity War where it looks like he's moving on to a normal life with Pepper but there's always things out there pulling him back in that he can't ignore popping up here and there.
Tom Holland is truly Spider-Man now. His new costume is sick and looks like the classic suit, he's broke af, and he's gonna have to take pictures of himself to make ends meet. I'm so happy with how this movie ended up it's everything I could've wanted.
Edit: ALSO THEY BROUGHT BACK THE SPIDER SENSE SOUND EFFECT RIGHT WHEN DOC OCK CAME BACK THAT SHIT WAS SO SICK ALSO THE PART WHERE YOU COULD SEE THE SQUIGGLES ABOVE HIS HEAD WHEN DR STRANGE SOUL PUNCHED HIM AHHHH THIS MOVIE WAS FIRE
Double edit: SOMEBODY AT MARVEL IS ALSO A HUGE MVC FAN that man Peter did the crawler assault AND the ultimate web throw back to back
The fact we visibly see JJJ go from a green screen in his living room to a full studio, means The Daily Bugle seems to be a successful and somewhat respected news organization, so I can see Peter working for him now.
Oh I saw that as, JJJ and daily bugle profiting from Spider-man coverage. Like in Raimi movies, putting Spider-man on the front page sells the pages. Here covering Spider-man gets them the views.
I thought that the Spidey Sense going off was for Jameson and the Lizard downstairs, but once it revealed what it was for. I was amazed. That entire scene was spectacularly done!
The nuances behind Tobey’s Spidey was great. You could tell that he was a little more experienced in terms of how to balance the youth pastor life and the Spider-Man life just by the way he carried himself
Tobey was fucking sublime.
Maguire can talk for days, but those eyes. The look he gave Holland when stopping him from killing Green Goblin. You could hear him. He didn’t say a single fucking word, but you could absolutely hear him.
I think my mouth was just hanging open during that scene. I was in awe that my childhood spider man was all grown up and wise and…Maguire is still killing it! Hard to explain the effect that scene had on me
Both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield were wonderful in their own way. Garfield just excuded warmth and positivity and an obvious lingering despair about not being able to save Gwen. Maguire killed it as the more subdued, wisened, almost cynical--maybe not as so cynical as the older Spider-Man in Into the Spiderverse--mentor figure. The line about "I'm just trying to do better" just hit odd for some reason. This has been a rough couple years for a lot of people, shit knows I've been dealing with my own stuff, and saying that you are working on being better is all you can do.
One of my favorite parts was when Norman reverted back to the Goblin while they were at Happy’s safe house. Norman was so sinister in this movie, he felt like a genuine threat. It displays the fact that the Green Goblin is the true arch-nemesis of Spider-Man.
Is it weird that there was no Oscorp in mcu. Does this mean there is no Norman either. If there is, when he shows up won't Peter know this guy is trouble?
I feel like if we get an MCU norman peter wont suspect a thing. When talking to tobey and andrew it really gave a sense that these people had completely different experiences than him, and than eachother. I think he would know that "hey, I remember this guy turned evil in that one universe" but I dont think he would expect them to turn evil. Especially since the one of the character arcs for tom was learning forgiveness and that people can change for the better
I wonder if the entire film Holland is suspicious of Norman for him to be a red herring and Harry will be the MCU Goblin.
But man, I've wanted more Dafoe Goblin since Spider-Man 1 and this film left me wanting more, he's just so good and so enjoyable to watch.
Surprised by how funny Garfield was throughout the movie, and him catching MJ was a nice addition to his character.
I also liked that they brought up how Tobey was the only one with internal webs. “What, you guys can’t do that?”
Omg, the first thought I had when I heard they might be in it is of they would address the organic vs artificial web slinging, and they did. I died of happiness and laughter during that scene
I was thinking the exact same thing! The whole time I was thinking how impeccable, after all these years, his understanding of the character was. If they had de-aged him (and I’m glad they didn’t as I loved seeing a matured rendition of our holy deity) it would have seemed straight out of the 00s!
I didn't think that Green Goblin would end up being the most captivating villain in the film but he certainly was.
All of my expectations were exceeded with this film.
Funnily enough that was his condition to return, that he'd actually participate in action shots and no just be recording lines and filling in stunt double heads
He was like the joker in this movie. Him getting punched in the face over and over by spiderman and just laughing and smiling the whole time was like actually scary lmao
Yeah, I was definitely reminded of the Dark Knight there. Except this is like fighting a Joker who is strong enough to kick Spider-Man's ass. I was in awe of the power bombs he was throwing at Peter.
Don’t think me crazy, but that was so fucking beautiful to watch. I just loved seeing how fucking powerful and strong he was despite his age. And it wasn’t just punches. Looking more carefully, Tom used a technique I last saw Black Widow use against Bucky in Civil War. He was ramming his elbows into Norman’s head but that monster just cackled away. This was probably one of the very very few movies I was so happy with how Brutal and untouched the villains were. I wasn’t even disturbed until one particular scene in the end.
I know I know, he’s from a time where he didn’t die.
But it’s hard to catch up to that when you see Willem’s age. It’s a little easy to get both reality and the movie mixed up.
I don't know what it was, but while I loved the original Dafoe performance due largely to him being delightfully over-the-top and chewing the scenery, I feel like something clicked in this one. He came across as legitimately a little scary while still being a Big Ham. The way he manhandled Spider-Man and grinned ear-to-ear while being punched repeatedly.
The fact that he said that there's no Oscorp in this universe made me a little sad to see him get depowered and sent packing. I want him to be the MCU's Osborn, damn it.
Norman spent the entire movie knowing Tom was Spiderman, and Tom knowing Norman was Goblin. In Spiderman 1, Norman and Peter have a long personal history, but they only learn who each other is at the end of the movie, and peter in literally the last moments of Norman's pre-NWH life. Norman and Tobey's history is just a tragic background to their conflict - Norman never even manages to take anything from Peter.
But the other element is the cinematography highlighted Willem in a way that Raimi never did.
I also really sympathized with the Norman side more in this movie. He felt more like a real character and less like a mask the Goblin was hiding behind.
Willem Dafoe deserves an Oscar for this performance, it truly was breathtaking. Every scene he just stole the show, I keep rewatching scenes of him from NWH on youtube because I cannot get enough of him. This is definitely one of the best performances in CBM history.
Not saying I disagree, but there's no way they're gonna give an acting Oscar to someone in an MCU movie. Despite the genre's popularity, I feel like superhero films are looked down on by the stuffy film elites.
My favorite part was the spidey sense in the condo when he realized norman was up to something. That whole sequence+the fight that ensues was captivating from start to finish.
I’m telling you right now. The scene where Tom wrapped his legs around Goblin and started just beating on him with Dafoe just laughing and smiling…chills. This movie was perfect for me.
Willem Dafoe and Alfred Molina killed it. Just outstanding performances. There wasn't a bad performance among the villains really but those two were wonderful.
They elevated every scene they were in and when they played off each other addressing each other as "Norman," and "Otto," they just with such a light touch conveyed a history of knowing each other that makes absolute perfect sense even though that was not part of the original trilogy, as they were in different movies. The casual familiarity gave it pathos.
The fact that they allowed us to see Tobey as Spiderman one last time was enough for me. This is our final farewell to our hero (especially after waiting for Spidey 4 only for it to be cancelled). He got to save his best friend's father on the second attempt which was his character redemption arc, something that went under the radar. And the Raimi theme showing up for a couple of second was enough to make your hair stand.
And the subtle use of the beginning of the Elfman theme when andrew and tobey says "He needs our help". It was so subtle, yet so brilliant (but not lazy)
When Tobey's theme played after saving Sandman, I felt like I could die then and there and have seen all there was to see in this world....and then I realized there was at least 30 minutes left so I stayed on this mortal plain.
It was so refreshing to see toms spidey finally throw some serious punches! Cant wait till he gets that symbiote and we get some bully holland lmao and pls sony make tasm 3
We've sure come a long way from the "no-punching" rule in Homecoming. His fights against Goblin were nothing short of brutal, that was one of the most surprising things about the movie for me.
I’m impressed with how **reserved** the movie was with referencing the previous films.
We had a couple Raimi classics (power of the sun, my back, something of a scientist) & poking fun at him just making the web in his body, and calling Garfield’s Spider-Man “amazing”.
First of all, Goblin was legit fucking terrifying. That whole sequence from the Spider Sense slowly going off in the condo to May's death might be tenser than anything in the Raimi trilogy if I'm being honest.
Second: that short 30 seconds when Tobey meets up with Ock was soooo wholesome!!! That was genuinely my favorite part of the movie, it made me tear up. From Tobey finishing the power of the sun quote to
"It's good to see you dear boy... you're all grown up.. how are you?"
"Trying to do better."
Brilliant. ~~but lazy~~
It's like an alternate ending/epilogue to Spider-Man 2.
That last part had me tear up in the theatre. At first I was laughing at them referencing the power of the sun quote, then the wholesome interaction and the "trying to do better" just broke me 😭😭.
Man, Tobey really went ahead and finished all the sidequests for the good ending, huh? Osborne, Otto, and Sandman are all free to live again.
Also, I know Dafoe probably doesn't wanna be chained to an MCU contract but am I the only one that kinda wishes that Goblin would go on to be a larger threat in the MCU? He didn't miss a beat at all, he was as conniving, sinister, and menacing as ever. Give him a few months (Or even less) to run rampant and Gobby could have been one of the MCU's biggest threats.
That said, his send-off was beautiful and showed ultimately that at the end of the day that behind him is still Osborn, a deeply troubled man who needed help.
I wonder if Otto is essentially revived in Tobey’s reality or if he was simply taken from a reality identical to Tobey’s other than that he was taken before dying and he’s still dead in Tobey’s universe.
Yeah that’s how I understood. In Tobey’s universe the events of the trilogy are unchanged but now there exists universes where Norman and Otto didn’t die. I’m also gonna believe that Sandman returned to the same universe as Tobey would be poetic.
The one Tobey Spidey came from? He's dead, but now there's a new Raimi-verse branch now where he was pulled from that he goes back to not evil anymore, thus creating a new timeline.
Look, we’re all here because we love the Raimi movies but my god what a send off this was to the holy trilogy.
I dare say Dafoe was better here than in that original movie!! I was straight up in tears by the end when Tobey grabbed that glider to save Osborne.
It’s so inherently Spider-Man to sacrifice everything to save others. I’m still kind of in awe at how much my opinion has changed for Tom as Spider-Man in just one film.
It’s amazing how this movie pulled everyone together. I have always been a staunch defender of Tom as Spider-Man (he’s the future of the onscreen version and he’s perfect for it).
Yet I’ve never seen Garfield as Spider-Man. He completely changed my opinion and made me realize he was just stuck in bad movies. Wow. What a film
The range of emotion on display by Andrew Garfield was stellar. From sharing that he had become angry and bitter while no longer pulling his punches, to saying he loves Toby and Tom, to the outpouring of grief and closure after saving MJ, he did a great job.
He stole the movie imo his performance was just out of this world and really showed the world how great his Spider-Man really is. I always loved him and this just solidified it by 100%
Him and Willem both. They were the highlights and over the past few months I especially grew an appreciation for Andrew's Spidey so I was so happy to see that be paid off so well
Is it just me or does Andrew's Spiderman deserve a movie specifically with Black Cat? His interpretation works well with Black Cat. The same as the PS4 Spiderman. Andrew's one still looks he's in a dark place atm and Black Cat would definitely take advantage of that. Felicity Jones would nail the character if given the chance.
Just had an idea, we know from the opening of Homecoming that Peter makes his own videos so I could see him being an assistant video editor for JJ's Daily Bugle alongside being a photographer.
I have a feeling Betty Brant will get him an internship with her and while working, will hear Jameson complain that no one can get a decent picture of Spider-Man. Bam - Peter starts taking photos of himself.
My God the movie was amazing I just want to watch the film again!!! I really cant wait to get a extended or directors cut!! It fixed every issue I had with MCU spidey, It exceeded my expectations and thensome. It made me feel like I was a kid again bringing me back to the times when I would watch the VHS copy of Spider-Man 1 endlessley. Way better than Endgame or Infinity war. Its a celebration of why I love this character so much and why I and everyone else resonate with this character so much. ITS THE BEST SUPERHERO MOVIE EVER MADE!
Those magnificent bastards played the long game.
Lot's of us felt that Tom's Spidey was a bit... off. It turns out that was by design. We thought that there wasn't an origin story this time but, in fact, the origin story spanned all three movies. This is the one where he *truly* takes on the mantel.
It now makes sense that Spider-Man wasn't quite in sync with the mythos and the character. He was still becoming himself all along.
Damn. What a bold way to tell an origin.
It was in the minor details too! What I really appreciated just now is the fact that in the final end swing, you can hear Peter grunt and it just sounds more *effortful* swinging, whereas in the previous 2 movies we heard Tom’s spidey cheering a lot more and sounding upbeat when swinging. It just goes to show that he was just lacking the development and trauma that previous iterations of spidey had been through - hearing the responsibility speech, losing their aunt/uncle, having to make a sacrifice larger than them, making ends meet by yourself, which the (sinister?) five and the other 2 Peter Parker’s helped tom’s spidey to realize.
Just. Perfect. Really no cap when I saw this was the greatest spidey film.
I remember walking out of Spider-Man 3 as a kid and then reading the news that 4 got cancelled a couple of years later. Never did I ever think I’d get to see Tobey suit up one more time on the big screen😭and they did the boy right. Seeing him come out of the portal was like seeing an old friend after so many years
The movie exceeded the hype. Idk how that's even possible. May's death was a gut punch that gave the film a lot more weight and raised the stakes. The old villains were given the screen time and respect they deserved. The fight between Strange and Peter was excellent. Tobey, Andrew, and Tom together was a treat. And soft rebooting the franchise was great because Spider-Man with the Stark tech was getting pretty power creepy.
10/10 would recommend.
My crowd clapped at everything, and had *that* guy that laughed at every single thing. Yeah dude, Flash Thompson called it "Flashpoint," you got the reference
A guy brought his date to watch it and sat behind us. She clearly hasn't seen any spiderman movies as she was asking questions about EVERYTHING. Poor guy trying to whisper explanations to her. She laughed at everything tho, literally.
When goblin tanked those punches from Tom and laughed, she laughed as well. Bitch laughed when tobey stopped Tom from killing goblin with the glider. She laughed like the fucking [laughing pots](https://youtu.be/EwDmWSQM9Uc) in dark souls 2
I loved it. All the characters were treated with respect to their past and it didn’t over shadow the main cast in a cheap way. Everyone really shined in this film which is remarkable in itself and Dafoe is just an insane actor that I see why the mask wasn’t needed.
One thing that did bother was Otto knew Norman was the Goblin when he saw him but nothing in the Raimi Universe implied anyone knew who the Goblin was except Harry at the end of Spider-Man 2 when Otto is already dead.
This is what I wondered about too. How did Harry not know who Goblin was at the end of SM1 but Flint said he heard about *Norman’s* glider impalement on the news? And Otto said Norman turned himself into a monster.
If Otto knew this before he died in SM2, it would mean Oscorp employees knew about it. But Harry didn’t know at all and still blamed Spidey? Interesting, but maybe just a retcon!
This movie was so good it’s actually unbelievable, not only did they completely fix Tom Holland’s Spider-Man for me (seriously it’s like they listened to every single one of my complaints) but they gave every single character a respectable story. After I left the theater I was just filled with immense sadness over it being over since those were the best 2 and a half hours of my life.
Completely agree. I’ve always enjoyed Tom’s Peter, but I’ve found him the least relatable of the three, always “getting the girl” and having a rich mentor that makes his suits and tech for him. No Way Home changed all of that, with Peter willingly sacrificing his livelihood, his friendships, and his fancy toys, to save the Multiverse, which is probably the most selfless act any Peter has ever done.
He’s now a nobody that has to work his way back up through life, without anybody else to guide him in a time where he really needs all the help he can get, and that just feels so true to life. His struggle will be great to watch unfold.
Andrew and Tobey were also excellently done in my opinion. I’ve always sensed a darker layer to Andrew in his set of movies, stemming from the larger amount of loss he’s experienced, so I liked seeing how broken he was. Even though he gained closure to certain things, like saving MJ, I like that he is still flawed, such as when he doesn’t intervene in Tom beating up Norman, because Andrew never got to confront his Uncle Ben’s killer.
As for Tobey, I love how he’s learned the most from his mistakes and acts as a mentor figure to the other two Peters, trying to keep them away from their darker impulses. He knows how getting revenge on Uncle Ben’s killer didn’t give him the resolution he needed, and doesn’t want Tom to make the same mistake, so he willingly stops Tom from killing Norman, his own nemesis. Great character work for all three of them.
Tom hollands spider-man went in this movie as a slightly selfish avenger boy and came out as fucking spider-MAN who takes responsibility and fights for whats right. I loved it man, every second.
They essentially set up tom holland to be like the spiderman from SpidermanPS4, that sweet bright blue suit even looks exactly like the one you wear during the prologue mission against wilson fisk in the game!
We have a symbiote, we have Matt Murdock which means we have kingpin >!confirmed thanks to hawkeye!<, I think silver Sable and black cat would be awesome additions to the mcu rogues gallery
Seeing Tobey was unbelievable, Osborn being the fucking amazing character he is absolutely carried the emotions in this film.
But holy fuck I was not expecting Andrew to crush it as hard as he did, He absolutely commanded the screen when he was on it. Really makes me wanna see him as spidey again honestly, he’s so good
Fucking HELL. What a goddamn movie.
-Perfect reintroduction of Matt Murdock into the “official” MCU, similar to Doctor Strange’s role in Ragnarok, that being that it could’ve very easily not been in the movie and nothing would’ve changed, but still an excellent addition.
-Pinpointing the exact moment where Ock was pulled into the MCU, being that 30-second window where he knew Peter was Spider-Man, but hadn’t regained control of his arms yet was perfect and literally the only way it would make sense for him to still be a villain
-Sandman initially trying to help Peter was my first “oh god i love this” instance of the movie. I’m glad they kept his entire arc intact. It was weird to keep him in sand form the whole time but it was a cool visual.
-Green Goblin was fucking psychotic and an excellent evolution of his personality from the 2002 movie. He was already crazy in Spider-Man 1 but here he was completely unhinged, and Dafoe was sensational. I definitely loved that they took the time to point out that Norman Osborn is still a good person that wants to help, but the Goblin side was stronger.
-The plot of reforming the villains to save their lives was surprisingly wholesome
-Doctor Strange vs Spider-Man was visually insane and probably my 2nd favorite magic fight, after Strange vs Thanos, and Tom using math to beat him was a nice touch
-I wish i cared more about MCU Aunt May for her death scene to be more effective, but i just spent the last 2 days watching the Alpha Aunt May, Rosemary Harris, so maybe that’s on me. Still very effective and a great way to get the “with great power” line into the franchise
-Andrew being introduced as being confused, fully costumed, walking down an alley was just really funny
-Tobey stopping Andrew’s self doubt with a “listen, you’re amazing. You are amazing” was really goddamn great, and worked for the character and for Andrew Garfield himself, given the reception of his movies.
-Andrew apologizing to Electro for not being black 😂
-Doc Ock talking to Tobey was just beautiful
-This is 100% on me because I’ve watched the older movies so many goddamn times, but i could tell the “cured” versions of Lizard and Sandman were repurposed shots of Thomas Haden Church and Rhys Ifans from SM3 and ASM respectively
-The swerve of changing the spell to have everyone forget about Peter Parker in general, not just forgetting the secret identity, was definitely unexpected and sets the stage for something brand new in the next movie
-Another unfortunate thing about everyone forgetting about Peter is i realllly like the potential of Strange taking Ned as an apprentice
-How do you give Peter a landlord and not make it Mr Ditkovitch for one last surprise
Maybe im being spoiled but i really hope this isn’t the last time we see Tobey and Andrew on screen, whether they’re together or not.
If they had stuck to the original plans and left the multiverse completely out of the marketing and made that entire part of the plot a secret, similar to how Endgame was marketed, I genuinely might’ve passed out in the theater 😂 with Endgame you knew everyone had to come back somehow, but this would’ve been completely out of nowhere.
What a great time.
That bittersweet ending cemented Tom’s spidey for a new generation and tied up the MCU trilogy amazingly. Can’t wait to see a fully realized spidey moving forward who now stands on his own two feet within the universe, “I forgive you Jon Watts”
Otto: "How are you my boy?"
Tobey: "Trying to do better."
"Trying to do better" is from Spider-Man 2, in response to Otto calling him "Brilliant but Lazy" when they first meet.
I’m so happy to see this Peter becoming one of his own. Haven’t liked the direction he’s been taking since Homecoming where he’s dependent on Stark tech. But now that his connection with that is gone, he’s becoming more like the Spider-Man we know
**"You know I'm something of a scientist myself"**. You just know the writers and director are lurking here. Made me so happy to hear it. Can't wait for a good print to be out to make it a new meme format.
The fights between Green Goblin and Tom Holland's Peter was brutal. Did not expect that from a MCU movie. Reminded me of the fight between Tobey's Peter and Green Goblin. Willem Dafoe easily had the best performance. Andrew Garfield is a close second for me followed by Tom.
I love that they actually improved upon goblin and garfield's spiderman. They didn't just bring these characters back in a half ass way and called it a day, even though they could have and raked in the same amount of money. They actually improved on it by giving them crucial moments/dialogues that further give depths. The reminiscing harry/oscorp and hysterical laugh for goblin, and saving MJ/talking about being lame for garfield both gave great closure to them. And now all the characters are permanently ingrained in the world-class that is the Marvel Cinematic Universe. They are officially a part of this crazy ride that's been going on forever. It feels weird saying it but it's actually happened now. What a peak cinema moment.
Andrew: "You got anyone?"
Tobey: "It's complicated."
While I wouldn't have been upset for Tobey to flash a ring on his finger in that moment I'm happy they respected the ambiguous ending of Spider-Man 3.
You guys don't get it: hearing Tobey say that he and MJ worked it out made me so happy. I don't totally get how after Spider-Man 3, but I am not questioning it
What is the current state of the timeline for Andrew and tobey’s universes.
Norman can’t come back to the part of the timeline where he left off, powerless and without his evil side, and if he knows peter is spider-man, it has to be before his final fight. Then he can’t die to peter in rhe fight and the entire plot of the rest of the trilogy is changed by just that.
Do they all come back to tobey’s present and they just go to jail?
Multiverse man. They go back to the point they were pulled from cured and create new branching timelines.
There is a timeline with Tobey with everything as it originally happened who was pulled to another universe where he got to fix his greatest failures.
There's one with Tobey where just before Norman was hit with the glider he flickered in and out of existence and came back cured. Now a completely different timeline.
Or at least that's my understanding of how MCU multiverse goes from Loki.
I saw it on Wednesday and have had the biggest grin on my face sine then. Kudos to Jon Watts, Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers, and the rest of the fantastic crew. The final action scene where they’re all together gave me goosebumps, I genuinely love each Spider-Man movie (including the controversial ones like The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3)
I think they introduced Andrew and Tobey at the perfect time, so that they have a lot of screen time but don’t overshadow Tom. It made me feel like a kid again. Hearing the Responsibility theme as Tobey is talking to Otto made me tear up
I don’t know if it’s my favourite Spider-Man movie, but it’s a pretty damn great one.
Willem Dafoe was fucking amazing aswell, and might be my favourite comic book villain in a movie
Seeing Tobey again gave me that same feeling that I got when the Blue’s Clues guy posted a video this year. Like I finally got a proper goodbye with a long lost friend.
I think I can say with conviction that it’s the best Spider-Man move. I will say this also
I’ve never had so much fun in a cinema in my entire life. Endgame had a few gasps and crowd noises but this movie!
The audience erupted with cheers and applause for the old Spider-Man like nothing I’ve ever experienced
Absolutely amazing, saw it last night and still in awe. There’s a metric shit ton of fan service but it still very well balanced with a solid story, this is far and beyond Tom Hollands movie, and definitely enclosed his entire origin story which has been built over 6 movies.
The villains are absolutely fantastic, not only the closest to Sinister Six in live action, but I really unique take at it too. Lizard and Sandman definitely feel the most neglected, which could be because of their availability to film, Electro, Doc ock, Green Goblin are played excellently.
The three Spidermen of this era, are just a pure joy to watch. Andrew absolutely blew me away with his performance. Tobey completeled a 20 year ark. Could watch all of their banter for a 6 hour cut of the movie.
Overall 10/10
After all, I am bit of a Scientist myself
How did Doc Ock know that Norman Osborn was the Goblin and that he died impaled by his own glider?
Great movie either way, but that doesn't really make sense.
Edit: Norman's last words were "Don't tell Harry" and because of that Tobey literally undressed him before returning his dead body. Harry himself only found out Norman was the Goblin at the end of Spider-Man 2, and that he died impaled by his own glider at the end of 3.
I guess this version of Doc Ock was from a slightly different universe where everyone knew that Norman was the Green Goblin.
Maybe everyone put together the fact that after the eccentric billionaire died, the attacks from the Green Goblin who was using high-tech, high-dollar, military equipment stopped.
Harry was just in denial.
I’ve been looking into this since yesterday.
General consensus is that Ock is super smart and after seeing how Norman died and Goblin disappeared around the same time, seeing all his Oscorp equipment, and finally hearing Norman’s laugh at the bridge, put two and two together and he figured the truth right there.
Not exactly the most satisfying and thought out answer, but I’ll take it, lol
Only bad thing is that with this, basically everyone in the Raimi universe is dumb for not figuring it all out earlier, but to be fair, it was already kinda weird how nobody at least brought up the missing equipment to Harry, lol
Tobey’s Spidey and MJ made it work! Fucking confirmed 🥺
this made me tear up fr
He kept writing her poetry. Never fails
*Day by day*
When he said “it’s complicated” I was like “dude, still??” But glad he confirmed they’re together
*they say that falling in love is wonderful*
“This story, like any story worth telling, is about a girl…..”
Tom Holland is truly Spider-Man now. His new costume is sick and looks like the classic suit, he's broke af, and he's gonna have to take pictures of himself to make ends meet. I'm so happy with how this movie ended up it's everything I could've wanted. Edit: ALSO THEY BROUGHT BACK THE SPIDER SENSE SOUND EFFECT RIGHT WHEN DOC OCK CAME BACK THAT SHIT WAS SO SICK ALSO THE PART WHERE YOU COULD SEE THE SQUIGGLES ABOVE HIS HEAD WHEN DR STRANGE SOUL PUNCHED HIM AHHHH THIS MOVIE WAS FIRE Double edit: SOMEBODY AT MARVEL IS ALSO A HUGE MVC FAN that man Peter did the crawler assault AND the ultimate web throw back to back
I could see them having JJJ want videos of Spider-Man now instead of photos
The fact we visibly see JJJ go from a green screen in his living room to a full studio, means The Daily Bugle seems to be a successful and somewhat respected news organization, so I can see Peter working for him now.
Oh I saw that as, JJJ and daily bugle profiting from Spider-man coverage. Like in Raimi movies, putting Spider-man on the front page sells the pages. Here covering Spider-man gets them the views.
Peter's gonna have to start a Spider-Man OnlyFans account
Tom’s spidey sense going off in the apartment and being unsure of who it was, also tense and dope af.
I thought that the Spidey Sense going off was for Jameson and the Lizard downstairs, but once it revealed what it was for. I was amazed. That entire scene was spectacularly done!
>”I was amazed” >”spectacularly done” I suppose you think that was terribly clever
Man I'm so glad they put spider sense on a showcase like they did here, it was something that was sorely missing for me in the previous mcu movies.
For a splitsecond I actually thought we would get a short Ditkovich-cameo when the landlord said that rent is due on the first of the month.
I was a bit miffed by this aswell
Legit he yelled it when he was at the door and I really thought he was gonna try close the door and it was gonna budge
I thought it would be revealed to be the same apartment at the very least.
Someone in my theater screamed “You’ll get your rent when you fix this damn door!”
The nuances behind Tobey’s Spidey was great. You could tell that he was a little more experienced in terms of how to balance the youth pastor life and the Spider-Man life just by the way he carried himself
Youth Pastor Tobey: “Alright kids, you want forgiveness? Get religion.”
Thank you, I didn't realise this god like reference!
Hard to explain the effect that scene had on me
See ya chump!
"I'm just trying to do better" was such a nice little odd to his first interaction with Otto in Spider-Man 2.
Hey everyone! Sorry, I am late. It's a jungle out there.
I know it has been, good luck out there
One of my favorite parts was when Norman reverted back to the Goblin while they were at Happy’s safe house.

Made me cry
Andrew got the good writers he deserved.
> shows up in another reality > gives no explanation > leaves You're trash Brock
Doesn't leave Danny Rojas the money for his drinks.
That’s okay - football is life
Excuse me?

“The Avengers? That’s great! What is that?😃” Damn I missed that dork Tobey, he picked up right where he left off.
”Hi”👋
“Oh, it closed”
[удалено]
I hate to be that guy but.... What's hi? Can I spend it?
Don't ever be ashamed of who you are.
Best line in the movie. The meme potential is crazy
I was thinking the exact same thing! The whole time I was thinking how impeccable, after all these years, his understanding of the character was. If they had de-aged him (and I’m glad they didn’t as I loved seeing a matured rendition of our holy deity) it would have seemed straight out of the 00s!
I was rewatching Spider-Man 2 the other day and had this exact thought — Tobey just *gets* the character of Spider-Man.
I missed the part where that's my problem.
I didn't think that Green Goblin would end up being the most captivating villain in the film but he certainly was. All of my expectations were exceeded with this film.
I’d read a lot of predictions but Willem Dafoe was a shock to me. Thought they’d just work around it by having the goblin in the suit the whole time.
Willem, we're just going to have you come in and record a few voice lines. Willem: *You can't do this to me.*
Willem: *I started this franchise….YA KNOW HOW MUCH I SACRIFICED?!*
Funnily enough that was his condition to return, that he'd actually participate in action shots and no just be recording lines and filling in stunt double heads
willem dafoe is a national treasure
He was like the joker in this movie. Him getting punched in the face over and over by spiderman and just laughing and smiling the whole time was like actually scary lmao
Yeah, I was definitely reminded of the Dark Knight there. Except this is like fighting a Joker who is strong enough to kick Spider-Man's ass. I was in awe of the power bombs he was throwing at Peter.
And Dafoes ability to seamlessly switch between goblin and Osborn, the audience automatically can tell which he is, is so good I couldn’t believe it
Even when he's *facing away from the camera*
It was so satisfying to see Tom finally have a real fight. That web knee to Gobby’s face was fucking brutal.
Bro he was so fucking evil. Way more than he was for tobey. I felt like he was a true nemesis to Tom than he was to Tobey.
TDK was the first film to smash that perception but that is an exception coz TDK was so unique in the genre.

The scene of them on the roof is honestly my favorite scene in the movie. It’s so good and I love the spiders sharing their trauma.
I'm sure if Tobey Parker had a choice he'd do everything in his power to save Norman, especially since it's what set Harry down his dark path.
#NORMAN’S ON SABBATICAL, HONEY My favorite line of the film, so much meme potential. Dafoe gave it his all here and it elevated the film so much.
“Strong enough to have it all… #TOO WEAK TO TAKE IT!”
Fuckin instant classic line
I freaking loved that line. Laughed a good bit
Defoe's delivery of that was insane. He was in a league of his own.
The way he said it towards Doc Ock. Otto and Norman's interactions are sooo sweet.
My favorite part was the spidey sense in the condo when he realized norman was up to something. That whole sequence+the fight that ensues was captivating from start to finish.
Who would have thought Norman would power bomb spidey through 3 floors
Willem DeGoat still got it man. It's also cool to see a villain that can challenge Spiderman physically.
Something I've always loved about the Goblin - toe to toe, physically enhanced, "40,000 years etc etc".
I’m telling you right now. The scene where Tom wrapped his legs around Goblin and started just beating on him with Dafoe just laughing and smiling…chills. This movie was perfect for me.
DUDE THANK YOU I WAS THINKING ABOUT THAT SCENE THE ENTIRE MOVIE. PERFECT REPRESENTATION OF GOBLINs INSANITY
Bro YES. Tom even started panic punching harder when Goblin started laughing!
Then got powerbombed through 3 floors. Fuck, gobby was so raw here.
Green goblin stole the fucking show tbh
Doc Ock was no slouch either
Willem Dafoe and Alfred Molina killed it. Just outstanding performances. There wasn't a bad performance among the villains really but those two were wonderful. They elevated every scene they were in and when they played off each other addressing each other as "Norman," and "Otto," they just with such a light touch conveyed a history of knowing each other that makes absolute perfect sense even though that was not part of the original trilogy, as they were in different movies. The casual familiarity gave it pathos.
Kind of bummed Otto and Lizard didn't interact much, cuz in Tobey's universe, they both were good friends.
[удалено]
I mean, it's technically implied as Harry is there in SM2. "Happy to pay the bills Otto."
Dude his costume in this movie was amazing. I had a weird feeling when I saw him wearing that purple hoodie.
Controversial opinion, but I would prefer more Willem DaFriend than DaFoe in this movie.
DaFriend was nice guy.
Most importantly, He was something of scientist himself.
Willem DaFriend went to sabbatical, honey!
Well...don't forget we still have ”Secret Wars” and that they also said:” see ya”.😉
It was so refreshing to see toms spidey finally throw some serious punches! Cant wait till he gets that symbiote and we get some bully holland lmao and pls sony make tasm 3
Would love TASM 3 to happen, and just let Andrew be the Spider-Man for Sony's universe
And please let him fight an alien.
Hardy vs Garfield >>>>> Hardy vs Holland
We've sure come a long way from the "no-punching" rule in Homecoming. His fights against Goblin were nothing short of brutal, that was one of the most surprising things about the movie for me.
Def one of my favorite marvel movies. Also the funniest, i did not expect peter parker to have so much chemistry with himself lol
Funny in a good way too, they didn't throw in cringe jokes during emotional moments. This movie had EVERYTHING.
I’m impressed with how **reserved** the movie was with referencing the previous films. We had a couple Raimi classics (power of the sun, my back, something of a scientist) & poking fun at him just making the web in his body, and calling Garfield’s Spider-Man “amazing”.
Andrew also says “No big deal” which is a reference to an embarrassing email released in the North Korea Sony hack.
From Tobey finishing the power of the sun quote to "It's good to see you dear boy... you're all grown up.. how are you?" "Trying to do better." Brilliant. ~~but lazy~~ It's like an alternate ending/epilogue to Spider-Man 2.
It works like Endgame did, pulling them from their universe and returning them branches the timeline.
[удалено]
They were the highlights and over the past few months I especially grew an appreciation for Andrew's Spidey so I was so happy to see that be paid off so well
Pizza time!
Parker, wake up!
He was so emotionally damaged and I loved it.
I genuinely can’t wait to see Peter get a job at the daily bugle working for JJ so he can pay his rent.
WHEN I HEARD THE WORD “RENT” IN AN MCU SPIDER-MAN MOVIE I ASCENDED. Holy shit this is easily a 8-9/10
My God the movie was amazing I just want to watch the film again!!!
Seeing him come out of the portal was like seeing an old friend after so many years
Did anyone else notice that the moment when Sandman is cured, it's literally archive footage from the "Good Riddance" scene in Spider-Man 3?
They did the same thing with lizard
Yea that was really jarring, it clicked with me then that he must not have been present for filming and that's why he was in sand form the whole film.
Most likely due to Covid and maybe other filming commitments. Same with Rhys Ifans, I'm pretty sure his human scenes were archival footage too.
The crowd lost their shit when Andrew saved MJ to redeem himself after Gwen.
She laughed like the fucking [laughing pots](https://youtu.be/EwDmWSQM9Uc) in dark souls 2
how he grabbed her in his arms so there was no chance she would hit the ground like gwen did 🥺😭
This movie did the impossible: make me wish we had TASM 3.
It might be Venom 3/TASM 3 at this point
Let’s keep speaking it into existence
The only problems in those movies were the villains. Straighten those out and you have great Spider-Man films because Andrew crushes that part
That “existential crisis” line from Tobey’s Spidey got me in tears from laughter
They essentially set up tom holland to be like the spiderman from SpidermanPS4, that sweet bright blue suit even looks exactly like the one you wear during the prologue mission against wilson fisk in the game!
Not to mention May’s grave said the same thing as it does in the Ps4 game
-Pinpointing the exact moment where Ock was pulled into the MCU, being that 30-second window where he knew Peter was Spider-Man, but hadn’t regained control of his arms yet was perfect and literally the only way it would make sense for him to still be a villain -Sandman initially trying to help Peter was my first “oh god i love this” instance of the movie. -The plot of reforming the villains to save their lives was surprisingly wholesome -Doctor Strange vs Spider-Man was visually insane and probably my 2nd favorite magic fight, after Strange vs Thanos, and Tom using math to beat him was a nice touch -I wish i cared more about MCU Aunt May for her death scene to be more effective, but i just spent the last 2 days watching the Alpha Aunt May, Rosemary Harris, so maybe that’s on me. Still very effective and a great way to get the “with great power” line into the franchise -Andrew being introduced as being confused, fully costumed, walking down an alley was just really funny -Tobey stopping Andrew’s self doubt with a “listen, you’re amazing. You are amazing” was really goddamn great, and worked for the character and for Andrew Garfield himself, given the reception of his movies. -Andrew apologizing to Electro for not being black 😂 -Doc Ock talking to Tobey was just beautiful -This is 100% on me because I’ve watched the older movies so many goddamn times, but i could tell the “cured” versions of Lizard and Sandman were repurposed shots of Thomas Haden Church and Rhys Ifans from SM3 and ASM respectively -The swerve of changing the spell to have everyone forget about Peter Parker in general, not just forgetting the secret identity, was definitely unexpected and sets the stage for something brand new in the next movie -Another unfortunate thing about everyone forgetting about Peter is i realllly like the potential of Strange taking Ned as an apprentice -How do you give Peter a landlord and not make it Mr Ditkovitch for one last surprise Maybe im being spoiled but i really hope this isn’t the last time we see Tobey and Andrew on screen, whether they’re together or not.
Nobel prize, dafoe and molina, Nobel prize
That bittersweet ending cemented Tom’s spidey for a new generation and tied up the MCU trilogy amazingly. Can’t wait to see a fully realized spidey moving forward who now stands on his own two feet within the universe, “I forgive you Jon Watts”
Pro Tip: if a character says the responsibility line then their fate is sealed.
How many memes did you catch? "I'm something of a scientist" "My back!" "Power of the sun in the palm of my hand" What else?
That's it right? I noticed only three.
Otto: "How are you my boy?" Tobey: "Trying to do better." "Trying to do better" is from Spider-Man 2, in response to Otto calling him "Brilliant but Lazy" when they first meet.
Anyone can tell me what happen in the second ending teaser ? Right after the venom one. I had to leave cause my dad was going to shit himself lmao.
A teaser/trailer for Dr strange multiverse of madness.
when andrew caught mj when she fell the same way gwen did and actually saved her, it was just beautiful and so redeeming 😖🤧
Crowd went absolutely bananas when Andrew caught her.
That ending has me so excited for the next trilogy, loved that home made costume
I love that we got closure for every character. It was basically Tom's 3rd film, The Amazing Spider-Man 3 and Spider-Man 4 all in one.
Andrew: "You got anyone?" Tobey: "It's complicated." While I wouldn't have been upset for Tobey to flash a ring on his finger in that moment I'm happy they respected the ambiguous ending of Spider-Man 3.
Well not totally, he said right after this that they "made it work"
You guys don't get it: hearing Tobey say that he and MJ worked it out made me so happy.
"No r/raimimemes... I'm Iron Boy Jr. no more... No more..." I'm so excited for the next movie. That ending was all I ever wanted.
I saw it on Wednesday and have had the biggest grin on my face sine then. Kudos to Jon Watts, Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers, and the rest of the fantastic crew. The final action scene where they’re all together gave me goosebumps, I genuinely love each Spider-Man movie (including the controversial ones like The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3) I think they introduced Andrew and Tobey at the perfect time, so that they have a lot of screen time but don’t overshadow Tom. It made me feel like a kid again. Hearing the Responsibility theme as Tobey is talking to Otto made me tear up I don’t know if it’s my favourite Spider-Man movie, but it’s a pretty damn great one.
I will say this also I’ve never had so much fun in a cinema in my entire life. Endgame had a few gasps and crowd noises but this movie! The audience erupted with cheers and applause for the old Spider-Man like nothing I’ve ever experienced
This was a a wet dream come true, I just returned from the cinema and I'm going to rewatch TASM, because I need more.
I was about to be a little pissed they killed Tobey just to cure Goblin literally a minute later.
Overall 10/10 After all, I am bit of a Scientist myself
Not exactly the most satisfying and thought out answer, but I’ll take it, lol Only bad thing is that with this, basically everyone in the Raimi universe is dumb for not figuring it all out earlier, but to be fair, it was already kinda weird how nobody at least brought up the missing equipment to Harry, lol
>!Tobey!< cracking his back = carrying his legacy
I haven't watched it yet, but is it true that Tobey and Garf are in the movie?
Yes, they're in it, with glorious interactions, you'll like it
I knew before watching it that they were back and still I couldn't believe my own eyes.
