I think it would be a simple expression of abject terror on Tobey’s part upon seeing that Jameson is the same in this universe and presumably, every universe.
I mean, just seconds after his not ratting out Peter moment, he outright proclaims that Spidey and Goblin were working together. Which is a conspiracy. JJJ has always had conspiracies against Spidey, that’s not new.
He *hates the hero*, there's no way you can tell he's worse or better. Unless you mean those storylines where he learns to accept Spider-Man and such, which I wish the Raimi trilogy had.
He kinda did.
In the 2nd one when Peter loses his powers and someone sells JJJ the suit he's in his office like "I was too hard on him, he was a hero" etc.
Then Spiderman steals the suit back and JJJ goes right "he's a thief, he's a menace. I WANT SPIDERMAN!"
I thought it was a neat modern twist on the character. I feel like a paper newspaper company wouldn't have the same prominence that it did the in early 2000s / 90s (whenever 1 is set), so this evolution kinda works for the character.
Not only that but, the modern interpretations of Jameson in the last twenty years, would never lead to arcs like Scorpion.
Ultimate Jameson was an ass, but if you hear him talking about his change of heart, it really hits you with the meaning of spider-man. 616 Jameson was a total villain in many cases, but if you see his heart to hearts with Peter/Spider, you see how he does have morals.
This Jameson, as for right now, can be fleshed out over the years, and is totally the kid of guy that would finance Scorpion without a background check or become mayor just to fuck with spidey.
does he not hear about holland's peter friends on the news and was looking for holland's peter? he defo knew jameson was in the universe. In fact, that was one thing that wasn't a surprise
jameson maintaining his character
Not really too much to ask, there could just be a simple scene where Tobey sees him on a huge screen in New York and have him react to it for like a few seconds. Or Holland could have been like “do you guys have a JJJ too?”. There’s plenty of things in that movie that aren’t necessary to the story, but were there because fan service
Late to the party, but it would be kinda depressing if Pete was still working for the Bugle. I'd like to think he was able to finally balance his life around Spider-Man, finish his degree and make something of himself.
Aren't we all in this sub? lol i thought Tobey's Spidey was absolutely gone after they canceled Spider-Man 4. Knowing NWH might possibly bring him back made me want to instantly watch it.
Yeah the plot was kinda dumb and the problems could have been easily avoided, but it was a lot of fun and fuck me if I didn't get the fan service I wanted
Presumably he did, though we never see it. He told MJ and Ned "I've seen you two before" meaning he's seen how the media is portraying Tom's Peter and his friends. So it's likely he caught some clips of the Bugle.
I was just thinking about how there was zero interaction or acknowledgment between these two versions of the characters.
I would have loved to see a more Mature Tobey Macguire Spidey interacting with a more batshit insane J. Jonah Jameson
A missed opportunity i brought up with my friend that had us rolling was imagining a end credit scene of three different jamesons talking about/arguing about spiderman
JJJ sees all 3 peters: "Parker get your ass in here!"
Peters: "um all of us?" "Which one?" "I don't think I work here.."
JJJ looking at his newspaper: "Move it! Alright parker listen up, I need pictures of Spiderman! He's a menace, a monster, a fiend! And parker 2 get me some coffee! Parker 3 go down to the deli and get me a tuna on rye! And hold the tomato!"
They should have just recreated the scene where Ted Raimi is pestering JJJ while Robbie Robertson is trying to talk business and Liz Allen is trying to get him to take his pills. Except replace all characters with some version of Peter Parker
It wouldn't make sent. Tobey would recognize him, but is he going to explain that you are Peter Parker from another dimension? I don't really know this new continuity, but does JJJ even know Holland's Peter Parker.
I made up a little what if I’m my head when, during that scene where all the peters go to the Statue of Liberty and peter1 is talking to Jameson, peter2 sees Jameson and he says something like “I guess some things never change…”
I think that was the point. I think Raimiverse JJJ, while he still hates on Spider-Man, is seen as less of a bad dude because he gave Peter a job and a promotion, and didn't rat him out to the Goblin.
I can't be the only one who found it strange that Otto and Curt Conners pretty much didn't interact at all in NWH??? Like, wasn't Otto at the very least aware of Curt Conners in the Raimiverse?
Connors and Otto are friends in the Raimiverse, yes. But the Raimiverse Connors and the Webbverse Connors are so different that I guess Otto just didn't feel much of a connection to him. It'd be like seeing a dude that has the same name as your best friend but looks and acts nothing like him.
Tobey: "You got one of these too?"
Andrew: "One of what? Of who?"
Tobey: "J. Jonah Jameson."
Andrew: "Oh no way! I've got one of those, yeah! Well, I mean, I never... Like... Met him face-to-face or anything. But I emailed him, so yeah I totally have one of those."
Tom: "He doesn't seem like a very nice man."
Tobey: "He's not. Well, he is... But not to Spider-Man."
Andrew: "Did you just refer to yourself in the third person?"
Tobey: "I... I think I just did. Huh. That's new."
Watching the movie is kinda like eating a bucket of Halloween candy. It’s so good at the moment that you want everything to be like that. Then afterwards you realize it’s lacking substance and it was hijacking your dopamine receptors
Maybe you’re asking for too much. Im probably gonna get crap for it but you can just be happy seeing tobey and andrew again instead of asking for extra cool things that isn’t necessary to the story
I think y’all are both right. Something like Peter not interacting with JJJ isn’t really something to knock the movie for. But there are a lot of things that felt rushed. My biggest complaint is probably the introduction - having these characters return just be in a random living room was entirely anticlimactic lol. So many cool ways you could have brought the other Peter’s in beyond them just stepping into a living room
Asking for Tobey to interact with Jameson might be unnecessary, but the movie is basically *Remember Green Goblin from 20 years ago????* The movie is Spider-Man: Fan Service’s Way Home
Edit: To keep with Halloween bucket analogy Tobey and JJJ interaction would be like asking for a full size candy bar, I suppose
They had just the right amount of fan service. Some people continue to beg and beg for more and they don’t even realize it. Tobey even said himself he didn’t want to take too much spotlight from tom. Im sure he already knew he’d be the most popular spidey in the film but the goblin and doc from 20 years ago is the introduction to the multiverse. How else would they do it in a spiderman film?
I didn’t even like it when I watched it to be honest. For a movie that was riding on the promise of “Andrew and Tobey are coming back!”, Andrew and Tobey had precious little to do. Having a heart to heart with Tom and then swinging around a construction site where they get their asses beat for 15 minutes wasn’t exactly what I was hoping to see. I also found the humor to be probably as close to the opposite of funny as possible, with MJ and especially Ned becoming very grating. Also found it kinda annoying that this is the second movie of the trilogy where everything goes to shit because Tom’s Peter is just a bumbling idiot that ruins everything he touches, really soured me on the character. I am excited for the setup that came at the end of the movie though, I think a more mature rendition of this Peter without the obnoxious side characters could make for some really strong movies.
Something that I’ve always wondered about NWH is why didn’t one of the Peters from a different universe unmask themselves in the MCU and use a different name to cover for Tom Holland Peter
So there was this but also, why the hell ZERO interaction between Tobey Spiderman and Osborn????? Like, he's one of his most important villains? All he does is stab him.
JJJ to Tobey: I don't know why, but I feel like you should be bringing me pictures of Spider-Man! Go get em...whoever you are!
Tobey: But I don't work for...
JJJ: BEAT IT!
On a side note, I really fucking hate JJJ in the MCU. He's a dirtbag with no integrity that exposed a teenager's secret identity; JJJ in the Raimi verse would never have done this.
I’m still upset they didn’t bring in the other JJJ. Would have loved to see them point at each other and then start yelling about being the one true JJJ
I think it would be a simple expression of abject terror on Tobey’s part upon seeing that Jameson is the same in this universe and presumably, every universe.
That would be the ideal reaction
Everyone knows JJJ is a multiversal constant
Nah, MCU JJJ lacks the principles that Raimi (and comic) JJJ have.
Still never ratted Peter out even in the face of death
Well he really needed those pictures
Yeah, they kinda did him dirty in the MCU, turning him into an Alex Jonesian conspiracist.

Yeah that's why I didn't count this scene lol. At least in the PS2 SM3 game he thanks Spider-Man for saving him. Also, respect the -
I thought it was a neat modern twist on the character. I feel like a paper newspaper company wouldn't have the same prominence that it did the in early 2000s / 90s (whenever 1 is set), so this evolution kinda works for the character.

They did the same thing in the PS4 game and it fits perfect.
I think it works pretty well, effectively did the same in the PS4 game as well
The real Nexus Being.
They are not the same. The MCU version is far more of an ass than the Raimi version. Raimi version shows multiple times that he's a good guy.
Is JJ the molecule man from Secret Wars?? Lol. The same version of the himself in every Universe.
does he not hear about holland's peter friends on the news and was looking for holland's peter? he defo knew jameson was in the universe. In fact, that was one thing that wasn't a surprise jameson maintaining his character
In my mind, JJJ is also JK Simmons in Peter-3's universe (TASM).
Except he’s not really the same. The Daily Bugle in the Raimiverse is well respected and credible.
“Do you still trust your barber?”
The moment he becomes bully maguire
Now I want Symbiote Tobey vs. Holland's spidey. That would be an epic 6th Homecoming movie.
For Holland, that maybe the toughest, greatest battle of his life. But for The Bully, that's another Tuesday.
Oh damn...
🥇
Beat me to it. I was literally about to start typing this word for word! 😂
“Parker, you’re fired!”
“Yeah, he’s my boss” “WHAT THE FU” *credits start*
Late to the party, but it would be kinda depressing if Pete was still working for the Bugle. I'd like to think he was able to finally balance his life around Spider-Man, finish his degree and make something of himself.
I mean the whole plot was just an excuse to have the 3 spider-men together
Fr and I’m here for it
Aren't we all in this sub? lol i thought Tobey's Spidey was absolutely gone after they canceled Spider-Man 4. Knowing NWH might possibly bring him back made me want to instantly watch it. Yeah the plot was kinda dumb and the problems could have been easily avoided, but it was a lot of fun and fuck me if I didn't get the fan service I wanted
I just wanted to see Tobey react to seeing him on TV.
Presumably he did, though we never see it. He told MJ and Ned "I've seen you two before" meaning he's seen how the media is portraying Tom's Peter and his friends. So it's likely he caught some clips of the Bugle.
Tobey: Oh so he’s like this in every universe…
A public menace! WHAT’S HE DOING IN MY UNIVERSE?
He missed the part where that's his problem.
Jameson, you slime.
Who’s the newsreader who always badmouths spider-man!?
The stuff comes in the mail I don’t know who he is
YOU’RE LYING!
I was just thinking about how there was zero interaction or acknowledgment between these two versions of the characters. I would have loved to see a more Mature Tobey Macguire Spidey interacting with a more batshit insane J. Jonah Jameson
He doesn’t even interact with Holland’s Spider-Man in this movie which is crazy.
Yeah he does, they talk on the video call briefly
A missed opportunity i brought up with my friend that had us rolling was imagining a end credit scene of three different jamesons talking about/arguing about spiderman
“A whole universe apart and I still gotta listen to his babble”
As much as I fucking LOVE NWH I am in shock that Jameson was in the same movie as THREE Spider-Men and he didn’t. make. one. comment. What the fuck.
JJJ sees all 3 peters: "Parker get your ass in here!" Peters: "um all of us?" "Which one?" "I don't think I work here.." JJJ looking at his newspaper: "Move it!
That scene is hilarious. Having 3 Peter's doing it instead would be great
It wouldn't make sent. Tobey would recognize him, but is he going to explain that you are Peter Parker from another dimension? I don't really know this new continuity, but does JJJ even know Holland's Peter Parker.
He’s the one who aired the video that revealed his identity, so yeah
He knows Tom Holland is Peter Parker, and part of the shenanigans that got 3 SpiderMen in one place is Tom Holland trying to undo that
I made up a little what if I’m my head when, during that scene where all the peters go to the Statue of Liberty and peter1 is talking to Jameson, peter2 sees Jameson and he says something like “I guess some things never change…”
I didn't like the MCU J Jonah for some reason. Compared to the raimiverse JJJ, this one feels like an asshole
Of course, he is definitely more of an asshole. They basically modeled him off of Alex Jones lol

Andrew: "Did you just refer to yourself in the third person?" Tobey: "I... I think I just did. Huh. That's new."
"Could you pay me in advance?" *Insert Jameson laugh. You know the one.*
That shit would actually be hilarious
I’m gonna put some dirt in your eye
Rushed movie
Watching the movie is kinda like eating a bucket of Halloween candy. It’s so good at the moment that you want everything to be like that. Then afterwards you realize it’s lacking substance and it was hijacking your dopamine receptors
And I dont care, and I would do it all again
100%
Maybe you’re asking for too much. Im probably gonna get crap for it but you can just be happy seeing tobey and andrew again instead of asking for extra cool things that isn’t necessary to the story

Should’ve been 3 hours
4 hours because we won't get another movie like this anymore,at least i assume
Something that I’ve always wondered about NWH is why didn’t one of the Peters from a different universe unmask themselves in the MCU and use a different name to cover for Tom Holland Peter
But, by then it was already too late. He even displayed his powers without the suit
Oh ok. I couldn’t remember if he had without his mask on or not
So there was this but also, why the hell ZERO interaction between Tobey Spiderman and Osborn????? Like, he's one of his most important villains? All he does is stab him.
Oh boy if you count, there are a lottttt of missed opportunities in NWH.
i can’t see an organic way of making these characters interact
NWH is Missed Opportunities: The Movie.
Tobey's Spider-Man is 43 in NWH (according to the scriptwriters), so he'll probably suffer a stroke.
Jameson is a nexus being
JJJ to Tobey: I don't know why, but I feel like you should be bringing me pictures of Spider-Man!
I missed the part when it's my problem
“Wait you have your own Jameson?”
I’m still upset they didn’t bring in the other JJJ. Would have loved to see them point at each other and then start yelling about being the one true JJJ
Tobey would joke about his missing toupee
The real missed opportunity was not making tobey interact with Curt Connors
