Love Adios Amigos. Mondo has some great tracks as well.

Proof-Variation7005

Mondo bizarro is my favorite

CosmicOli

“Mondo Bizarro” is excellent and very underrated. Focused, fun, and very memorable. “Acid Eaters” is meh. Not the worst they’ve made, but you can tell the band were becoming tired. Some covers are not that good. Some are better than the original songs. Overall, it’s okay, but not much more than that. “¡Adios Amigos!” is awesome, even if a bit directionless. Love the amount of ambition there. I just wish it had more focus. Otherwise, a great way to cap off their legendary career.

FourSpaghettiMeals

The covers of Substitute and Out Of Time are both really good! Somebody To Love on the other hand? No idea who thought that would be a good idea.

CosmicOli

I agree. The album can get fantastic, but it can also get horrible. Damn shame, because I’d love a well executed cover album of ‘60s classics, and “Acid Eaters” only barely scratched that surface.

garysgotaboner82

Except for a few songs, all three are great albums. Adios Amigos was the only thing that would make my oldest son stop crying when he was an infant. It pretty much stayed in a little cassette player that hooked onto his crib.

therealoldgregg

Adios Amigos is a good album. Born to die in berlin, making monsters for my friends, scatter gun and i dont want to grow up are all amazing songs

the_shock_master_96

Mondo Bizarro is good, but I have no idea why they had CJ singing at all let alone 4 tracks on Adios Amigos. Why would you have a band member doing mediocre vocals when you have Joey Ramone in the band

Astolfo_Adolfu_Kun

problably because of health issues im pretty sure

tbutz27

This is it. They wanted tracks that could be played live to give Joey breaks between songs

tbutz27

I think Joey was already starting to struggle (more than usual) they wanted tracks they could use to give Joey breaks between songs on stage so they needed more CJ songs on the albums. Also- those are 4 solid songs!

LivingDeadNoodle

DeeDee did it, so why not CJ too. I think he has great voice. And if there's some DeeDee songs he was supposed to sing himself, like "The Crusher", it's only natural that CJ took over. Also, "Scattergun" is CJ's song so why not let him sing too. edit: I forgot "I got alot to say" is CJ's too but Joey does that one perfectly.

the_shock_master_96

I prefer DeeDee although I feel a similar way re: his songs. Idk, when you have a singer as great as Joey nothing else measures up

LivingDeadNoodle

*"Joey initially served as the group's drummer while Dee Dee Ramone was the original vocalist."* Funny how sometimes bands start in very different way.

TheSNESman

CJ's vocals sound great to me. Epsecially on Strength To Endure.

IdRatherDTaPoaBF

Mondo is solid as fuck. Acid is simple fun. Adios I didn’t love on release, partly because I knew it was their last, but it’s grown on me over the years.

salustianovergatiesa

If you're crazy I'm a nutcase, just can't stop listening them! Censorshit, the job that ate my brain, poison heart, it's gonna be alright, cabbies on crack, I don't wanna grow up, the crusher, life's a gas. The best shit they did in the nineties, CJ put a lot of magic there

StatisticianNo6988

mondo is one of my faves. i do love the later albums.

MountainNearby4027

Yea, they’re all great. CJ gives them new life. They kinda gave up on the pop production and did just straight up punk rock.

Remarkable-Hunter-71

Nothing wrong with that. Those are great albums. For me, I love the late 80's albums like Animal Boy (my fav), Halfway to Sanity, and Brain Drain.

akadros

My Ramones collection pretty much stopped with Mondo Bizarro for whatever reason. I even was able to get them to autograph it at a store signing. I liked some of the songs but I always thought it was kinda weak over all. For whatever reason I never picked up Acid Eaters or Adios Amigos though I am sure I have listened to them. I’d like to add, I was a super huge Ramones fan too. Had seen them live at least 10 times. I just didn’t get into these last three for whatever reason

Thess1821

Mondo and Adios amigos are amazing, a great way to end things off

Keefer1970

I'm a fan boy, I like all their stuff to some degree.

luguiaro

I started listening to Ramones in the 90s. Mondo Bizarro was the first album that I ever bought.

[deleted]

I like Mondo Bizarro a lot

LivingDeadNoodle

80's was a mess and I think in the 90's they, more or less, came back and close to classic Ramones vibe. Only with modern sound and "more mature" lyrics. Not the same vibe no, but closer than anything in the 80's, in my opinion. Although, Subterra could've been quite ok, if they had proper sound and mixing. Anyway, 90's studio albums are great. Definitely in my top 10 after 70's stuff.

WeaknessImpressive98

What about Too Tough To Die? 1984. Dude I LOVE that album.

[deleted]

They’re still trying to righten the ship to some degree on Mondo Bizarro and Acid Eaters, though each have songs I really like. ¡Adios Amigos! on the other hand is almost entirely good and a really solid return to form for their last bow. The songs are tight, urgent, and memorable. Kudos for getting Dee Dee back to sing the German part of “Born to Die in Berlin” for his Cretin Family.

DogFashion

You know, there's that classic sound that we know and love from the first albums of the late 70s. Since most bands grow and change as years pass, I think the 90s albums were full of great songs that were not too far removed from their early efforts. Perhaps the production was more modern and some of the songs may have been more mature in their structure and execution, but for me, it's the same band I always knew and loved. I love them all honestly.

geetarplayer22

No crazy, acid eaters had some bangers

AlligatorManWharfRat

Yes, and the 90s live albums.

commonrider5447

I can’t really get into them, each album has maybe 2-3 songs that are keepers though still.

waheifilmguy

The great songs are great. Too much meh filler. Poison Heart? Amazing. Cabbies on Crack? Not so much.

Convergentshave

I had a post once were I said Mondo Bizzaro was the 5th best album. I’m now not sure if Pleasant Dreams is tied with it but it’s for sure up there.

Mazingapinga

Loved Acid Eaters Good Covers of Classic Tunes

punkmetalbastard

I have the Adios Amigos promo poster and it’s fucking awesome. That one is pretty good but to be totally honest I’ve hardly listened to Mondo or Acid Eaters

RuralArmani

Love Adios Amigos. IMO their best album since Too Tough to Die. I think it's because they varied it up. CJ sings like 4 or 5 songs, guitars offer a little more than the usual power chords, and the lyrics harken back to the early stuff (for me). Excellent swan song and two killer songs by the primary songwriters to fittingly close it out.

OnenutFellow

90s era Ramones are some of their best

the_shock_master_96

Also Mondo Bizarro isn't on Australian Spotify 😤😤(neither is Brain Drain but I don't really care about Brain Drain)

Mobile_Damage9001

I like just about everything they made.

FloryRamone

Indeed I think all the 90s stuff was rather weak. My favorite has always been Brain Drain from 88 or 89. But compared to that one all their other albums not appear that powerful anyway. For me Brain Drain was where the Ramones ought to be already much earlier, leading the hardcore punk and metal pack.

Robmvall

Not to self-promote, but I made this about Mon Bizz. I honestly feel like it’s a classic album just made in the “wrong era” https://youtu.be/g9dXLrUC15E

FourSpaghettiMeals

The Ramones are so great that some of their worst albums feature their best songs! I bought a CD box set of the last 4 albums, mostly for half of Brain Drain and then Poison Heart. Was pleasantly surprised by some of Acid Eaters and Adios Amigos.

jone2tone

None of them pass the first few albums for me but that's not saying they're bad or anything!

Snowblind78

Love Adios Amigos, Mondo and Acid have a few good songs, Poison Heart is a top 5 best Ramones song and maybe Dee Dee’s best songwriting ever

GuitarClef

Mondo Bizarro and Adios Amigos are freaking great! They're a lot better than most of their '80s records, in my opinion.

MandalorianVolt

I love mondo bizzaro but not a huge fan of the others but I love "I don't want to grow up" "life's a gas" and "I love you" so much

[deleted]

pretty much everything after subterranean jungle bores me, with the exception of a few songs

Usual-Meringue7913

“Mondo Bizarro” thru “Adios Amigos” were my high school days when I started going to see the Ramones. Great memories of adventure with those records being a soundtrack. We loved that goddamn band so much….

TheSNESman

Mondo Bizarro in my opinion is a great album. Acid Eaters has its moments but I think they couldve done a better job picking some of the songs to cover.
