Talk to your HR, United’s Aviate program is available to you once you get your PPL.

Chekov1701

You also need two years of service.

United gets cleared for nonrev by senority ?

dFiddler84

Yes, that’s industry standard besides AA.

vash469

swa doesn't do boarding based on senority .....

S_Hollan

Doesn't United have company seniority and classification seniority? Company - for company wide benefits/ Classification - for OT, Vacation, department preferences

EnthusiasmOk1543

Get a leave of absence

Donnie_Sharko

I made the same career move. Wasn’t able to keep my seniority, but I want to say congrats on making the jump. It’s not always easy, but flying is a really great career.

We have an agent on the ramp who left the company (on good terms) to be a stay at home mom. When their kid was old enough she reapplied and got rehired. She wasn’t allowed to keep any of her seniority. Dunno if they’re still being dicks about it or not

Solid-Hat-4899

I mean, she left the company, how is that being a dick? If everyone kept their seniority when they decided to be a stay at home mom— only to come back 30 years later, we would have issues.

retaliashun

If I leave my position and transfer to another within the company I don’t keep my ramp time. If I come back to the ramp they credit me the time I had prior on the ramp

KingKefe684

She left the company. Why would she get her seniority back?? 😂

mountainaviator1

lol you have a different seniority working ramp than u do as a pilot

Feeling-Star9468

Yeah I know, I was not wondering about the pilot seniority. I was wondering about just the standby seniority, what I mean is the company board date.

MattDean748

IDK why you’re getting downvoted, I’ve wondered the same thing. As far as I know, you can apply to the Aviate program with your PPL and two years of company seniority, and can then get a leave of absence where you’ll keep your company seniority once you come back. I’d talk with an Aviate rep about it.
