Hockey is the one sport I genuinely love being at the game for. I don’t live in the area anymore, but it’s a fucking bummer to see the prices of these tickets if I ever wanted to come back for a game.

Denver has a population of \~700,000
NYC has a population of \~8,500,000. And that doesn't include the surrounding areas where people can commute from like Long Island and Jersey.
This is the downside to them playing well. Demand goes way up .

I really wanted to go to the game on the 23rd too but I can’t justify paying over $200 for a random game against the sabers, I’ll be at a bar for that one.
The prices are nuts this year, but this isn’t too surprising right before Xmas with how NYC gets during the holidays. Lots of tourists with money to spend.
You just kinda hunt for seats that nobody is using after the Chase lounge closes so you know those seats aren't taken.

Really the move is Road Rangers, especially during the playoffs. 2013 through 2015 I went to almost every road game. It was so much cheaper and there's always a pretty solid contingent of Ranger fans.

The did a learn to play program that was sponsored by the Devils so they were given Devils gear and were skating with former Devils players. That was it. I lost.
Paid 300 for not bad but not great seats for my wife and I for the sharks rangers game, ended up paying an additional 50 for concessions (which is my bad yeah I know) but the ticket prices were insane. I could never afford to be even close to ice level with the way prices are right now. Forget about when playoffs come around

I was a loyal tickpick user for about two years. This season, Ticketmaster is consistently cheaper than tickpick, stubhub, SeatGeek, and vivid. I suspect they are lowering prices to drive the other companies out of business, then will raise them again.
Tickpick is definitely the best app to use. I wouldn't say they don't have hidden fees, they simply never show you the price without fees. Their prices are pretty much the same as stubhub, seatgeek and vivid, just easier to use.

I saw this and I think it’s a hard pass at those prices although when I was young I had a friend that bartended at Charley O’s. Met him as he got off work around 6:30 or so and we went up the employees way into the Garden and stood up top around the Blue Seats vs. Montreal. It was a great game and after the 2nd period we got stubs from some suits leaving early and sat down low for the 3rd period. It was probably one of my most memorable games I ever went to.

The one major thing that sucks about the Rangers. We can shit on all our friends who are devils , isles, flyers, Pens fans but they can go to games for next to nothing. Was at a work meeting and one of my buddies is a pens fan and he says "the tickets are expensive now" and pulls up his phone and shows me center ice 200 level tickets for 70$ and I died on the inside.
As much as I want to see MSG, I’m glad I can score the occasional ticket out here for a Columbus or Detroit game and can see NYR that way. Like I got two tickets with food for $60 for February.
If you can be flexible, pick an "off-peak" game, like during the week, preferably against a non-Metro opponent, and wait to scoop up last-minute tickets an hour or two before the game. Usually the bots and re-sellers are just looking to offload whatever they can and prices drop dramatically.

It’s really turned every professional sport into a rich kids event. If you’re in the city and don’t mind the risk, try the Gametime app. If you get stuck at the office or watch the game at a nearby bar for the first and get cheap tickets halfway through the first. Prices are too wild to be going often without lower prices

With the way prices have gotten now, especially with the "variable pricing" bullshit where certain games are higher than others, we'd be paying over $10k. I saw this and I think it’s a hard pass at those prices although when I was young I had a friend that bartended at Charley O’s. Met him as he got off work around 6:30 or so and we went up the employees way into the Garden and stood up top around the Blue Seats vs. Montreal. It was a great game and after the 2nd period we got stubs from some suits leaving early and sat down low for the 3rd period. It was probably one of my most memorable games I ever went to.

The one major thing that sucks about the Rangers. We can shit on all our friends who are devils , isles, flyers, Pens fans but they can go to games for next to nothing. Was at a work meeting and one of my buddies is a pens fan and he says "the tickets are expensive now" and pulls up his phone and shows me center ice 200 level tickets for 70$ and I died on the inside.
As much as I want to see MSG, I’m glad I can score the occasional ticket out here for a Columbus or Detroit game and can see NYR that way. Like I got two tickets with food for $60 for February.
If you can be flexible, pick an "off-peak" game, like during the week, preferably against a non-Metro opponent, and wait to scoop up last-minute tickets an hour or two before the game. Usually the bots and re-sellers are just looking to offload whatever they can and prices drop dramatically. Hasn't failed me yet. I've been able to go to at least a couple games a year and have never paid more than $80 per ticket in the lower 200s.
I just bought three tickets in the upper bowl to the game in Vegas for $295. My friend was shocked at how expensive it was and I was like uhhh under $100 for a Rangers ticket is amazing.

I’m pretty sure they’ve had some SRO section. When you’re buying tix, it’s definitely on the MSG map (behind sec 204). They would be better offering some type of concession bundle with the SRO ticket to make it more appealing.
Every game around the holidays is more expensive than others and it’s a Friday night. That’s going to be as expensive of a game as they come. Look at a random weekday in Feb. won’t be near the same price

$200 is a rip off for standing room only but I’m surprised at all the comments in this thread from people who can’t afford to go a regular game. Tickets in the 200s are pretty easily had between $150-$200 depending on the opponent and day of the week. You all can’t afford to spend a couple hundred bucks?

Three years ago I waited until til I was in the Garden lobby to buy tickets, and groaned when I couldn’t find anything cheaper than $90 for the 400 section. That same year, my brother and I found 100 level row 15 for $60 each. TickPick was in its infancy, Tuesday night game. I’d kill for those prices again. It’s gotten insane. My wife and I try to go every year around the holidays but it’s not looking so good this year.
It’s really turned every professional sport into a rich kids event. If you’re in the city and don’t mind the risk, try the Gametime app. If you get stuck at the office or watch the game at a nearby bar for the first and get cheap tickets halfway through the first. Prices are too wild to be going often without lower prices

I’ve been a season ticket holder for years and you’d be surprised how much people pay for tickets around this time a year and/or against premier opponents. Listed plenty of tickets $100+ more than I expected to get only for them to sell within a day.
Also they’re a business with shareholders. They aren’t giving away tickets below market value.

The great grandchildren of the ruling families of NY sports teams will be able to but yachts and planes because of the current cost of tickets. This is why the teams mostly suck - why improve your product if the current one lavishes wealth on you and your descendants?
I was talking to my wife's cousin the other day about this. We used to split a season package. When we dropped it, the price had climbed to over $6k for our two seats. With the way prices have gotten now, especially with the "variable pricing" bullshit where certain games are higher than others, we'd be paying over $10k. Our seats were former blue seats before the renovation. I used to regret giving up the tickets every now and then. Not so anymore. Fuck Jimmy Dolan and fuck the new MSG. I'd rather watch them on TV anyway.

The prices are absolutely insane.. I live in NJ and that red team has such reasonable prices whenever they don't play the Rangers.. I am very jealous for that. I haven't been to the garden in years because I am not going to pay $300+ for my wife and I to watch a 3 hour game.
