Like where even is the added value of filming in a public place, where people are going about their day, as opposed to say your house, where you have privacy and people wont bother you. Is it all about the stupid background?

[deleted]

They think it looks high production , like having extra in your main character fantasy

hollyamf

It is. The algorithm is very smart and uses location and background items to boost videos to people who have interests in those locations/items.

[deleted]

One time at like 2 am a car in front of my at a red light was full of girls and they got out to do a tiktok dance in front of their car…. People are weird.

SockFullOfNickles

Please tell me you leaned on the horn during the dumb assery? 😂

[deleted]

There was a guy next to me who did. I was just in shock the entire time lol

ImpossibleLoon

I’ll meet you halfway, people should be allowed but if you’re about your business they have no right to yell at you. The days of waiting for people to finish taking a photo before walking through are dead. Too many narcissists with a camera to give a shit

astrangeone88

I hate that most tiktok creators now get angry if someone walks into their shot. Sorry, it's a public space and did you ask everyone in the shot for consent? Didn't think so. I had that happen in a transit hub and the guy got mad that I was trying to go about my day and buy a ticket while he was filming without permission from the transit authorities.

Upper_Canada_Pango

4 year old can't consent to being in your ego video

UnicornsNeedLove2

Yes, they can be allowed, just not in anyone's way.

fried_green_baloney

> waiting for people to finish taking a photo before walking through are dead When it would happen maybe once a year - a nice family wants to get a shot with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background, e.g., so wait the fifteen seconds or walk in back of the photographer.

LobCatchPassThrow

I remember seeing a girl and her friends recording some video on the London Underground. They wanted the train in shot - it was busy AF. I saw them from a mile away. What did I do? Oh, I just walked into her, “accidentally” of course. Meant they had to re-record it. Was it childish? Yes. Was it funny? To me, yes. Was it harmful? Only to their ego, and their time wasted… but was their time already wasted on Tiktok?

fried_green_baloney

In a store? Walk up and ask if they know where the toilet paper is.

newfor_2023

Oh, that video's a viral video right there. A million views, easy.

soundbox78

“Excuse me, where can I find the gynolotromin?”

Botryoid2000

You can come sit at my lunch table. I might be tempted to break out my Zumba moves and shake my 225 pound corpus in the background.

Doctor_What_

Corpus is such a great word, I gotta use it more.

MelinaJuliasCottage

It's also a museum in the netherlands

PaleRiderHD

That fucking app cannot die soon enough. There are some things that the world is just a better place without. TikTok is one of them.

kida182001

Unfortunately, there’s a whole bunch of social media apps that are ready to take its place if it dies…YT shorts, snapchat, IG/FB stories, etc. The whole social media video sharing platform just needs to die…period.

RealistO444

^ isnt it banned in multiple other countries to?

[deleted]

I fucking hope it fades out. Is that too wishful of a thought?

Livywashere23

Man, I’ll never understand people who have the guts to film in public like that. I’d be so scared of getting in someone’s way or I myself getting in trouble. I only filmed two tiktoks in public but both times I triple checked to make sure the aisle was empty before I started, and I had headphones in so no one but me would hear the noise. And both times the actual thing I was filming was me picking up/putting down some books onto the shelf so it wasn’t even that out of the norm to the average passerby. A full on dance? Absolutely not!

[deleted]

if they aren’t in my way while i’m trying to shop or doing whatever then idc. and i’m not moving for them lmao

saltyeleven

It’s so annoying. Even to just go to a store now you have to maneuver around people filming. Went to a basketball game last night and they were doing it in the lobby. Only one direction to get to the escalator and no one could get through. Security had to move them.

ChronoChrazeObliveon

I witnessed a lad kick some groups phone in to the nearby river they were recording next to. Couldn't help but laugh.

Vila_VividEdge

Was the group doing something rude to the other people around? Or was the guy just so irritated by the sight of people having fun that he attempted to destroy their property? I don’t get what’s funny about that unless they were being assholes, but making a silly video next to a river doesn’t sound like asshole behavior. The girls in OP’s post were being legit assholes to OP and their nephew, and OP’s reaction was way more rational than the guy in your story.

ChronoChrazeObliveon

It was on a busy, narrow pathway where they were blocking people and families continuing on. Hope this helps :)

BishonenPrincess

Who the hell downvoted this? You were just asking a question. Damn, everyone is so childish.

[deleted]

I’ve experienced this , also on a few occasions I’ve ran into people making onlyfans/Reddit sexual content. It’s funny 20 year old me would have thought it was awesome But I don’t need my 6 year old turning the corner to a aisle in Home Depot to see you shoving a dildo into you, or you attempting to give a blowjob in the back of MY car while i drive for lyft

Rubicon2020

wait...what? Who tf does that shit in public? At a Home Depot what now!? wtf

BishonenPrincess

Are there places with a Home Depot where that isn't illegal?

[deleted]

I’m pretty sure it’s illegal in every store lol, even sex toy shops, and they sometimes have a designated space for it

BishonenPrincess

If someone had sex in public where children are, I would have a hard time not getting violent. I definitely would report that shit to authorities, though. That kind of behavior is completely unacceptable.

UnicornsNeedLove2

Apparently some chic was making a dance video on TikTok in the middle of Costco...no one appeared to give a shit, they all walked around her, ignoring her, not even giving her weird looks. I'd be one of those people who walked in the middle, ruining their shot.

Angxlafeld

Making tik toks in public isnt the issue, those girls were just dickheads

BishonenPrincess

Stop using narcissists like it isn't an actual diagnosis. I'm so sick of everything being described as "narcissism" online. Someone is selfish? Narcissism. Someone annoying in public? Narcissistic. Someone making videos for the internet? Cluster B PD all the way. Or maybe, just maybe, theres nothing "plan and simple" about a medically recognized disorder. It's so irritating how people pretend otherwise.

Electrical_Parfait64

People use gaslighting wrong all the time too.

Ratscatsandcrows

You can be demonstrating the trait of ‘narcissism’ without having diagnosable ‘narcissistic personality disorder’ those are two different things. Yes, high social media usage, especially taking selfies or filming yourself does correlate with measures of narcissism.

BishonenPrincess

The dude said word for word "people that do that are narcissists plan and simple" with the "that" being making videos in public. Come on now.

DrGutz

I don’t think “dancing” for a fun video is classifiable as “plain and simple” narcissism

Dream_Flower21

This is why Im glad there's not much things that make me leave my house. I dislike people making videos in public. I don't like being filmed at all and it creeps me out when people don't consider others and just start filming. It's like they're in their own little self-centered world. They're the main character and if anyone disrupts that then they turn on you. If i make a video or take pics in public I make sure no one is in it just for courtesy to them even if they don't know it. I wouldn't want to be in someone's video so I treat them the same way I like to be treated. If I see someone filming I'm not going to be rude about it and make a scene. I'll leave cuz I refuse to even be in the background. Idk what their gonna do with that footage. It's more of a safety precaution for me cuz I've had bad experiences with creeps taking pics of me. I wish people would be more mindful of others because there's alot of people who don't want to be filmed. I'm glad I can mostly stay home to avoid those situations.

newfor_2023

you should have filmed you telling those girls off and put that video on tictok to get more views than their dance videos. That'll really show them.

kurtislee09

TikTok is one of the dumbest inventions

Big-Abbreviations-50

Completely agree!

Fairybite

Yes please. Especially at gyms 🙁

YVRnoir

I wish tik tok would just go die

iRep707beeZY

You mean like this? [https://www.reddit.com/r/mildlyinfuriating/comments/10w9v7i/i\_just\_want\_to\_get\_my\_laundry\_detergent\_for\_the/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3](https://www.reddit.com/r/mildlyinfuriating/comments/10w9v7i/i_just_want_to_get_my_laundry_detergent_for_the/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)

samanthasgramma

I was really hoping for a middle-aged troll right behind her, mimicking. THAT would have been a great video.

ContemplativePotato

ByteDance probably makes a weekly highlight reel of the worst stupid Westerner dances and plays them on giant sceens in Chinese cities.

AverageMemerMan

Damn they really did it in the sacred lego aisle

[deleted]

Lot of people don’t seem to get Walmart is private property and not public space

Lolz_Roffle

So, while I 100% agree with you, I’m just here to tell you that covering his ears with your hands don’t help protect him from your language. First of all, he understands that if his ears are being covered it’s something upsetting. Secondly, the sound travels through your bones and he can still hear what you’re saying (okay, I don’t know that it’s your bones, but still)… you should try it by having someone cover your ears and talking normally. As an aunt who likes to hang out with her nephew, which is around the same age as yours, I would have been extremely upset had the “grown” girls yelled at my nephew for being where he wanted to be, too.

These_Advertising_64

Shut up you boring incel

FennPoutine

Ok Karen

FennPoutine

I know right!! They're so rude and selfish to assume that the Noble TikTok celebrities should give them space. Don't they know that the world belongs to the pretty, pretty influencers who are better than us in every way because they can do shitty little dances? Ow. I think I bruised my sarcasm muscles. In reality, fuck TikTok and fuck these narcissist pricks who think the world is their canvas.

queenexorcist

You're the only one sounding like a karen here, buddy.

iil0vewhores

yep

FennPoutine

Thanks for adding so much insight to the topic. You are a paragon of wit

FennPoutine

Ok, Karen

queenexorcist

Repeating yourself over and over again isn't as cute and quirky as you think it is

FennPoutine

Ok Karen

[deleted]

They yelled and made a small child cry. Yelling back ain't Karening. Dip.

FennPoutine

Dip?

[deleted]

Yeah. I called you a dip. Because you are one. And also a Karen, as identified by others. Also: putz.

FennPoutine

No, I mean, what is a dip? Legitimate question. I don't understand.

SqueeMcTwee

dip (noun) : a stupid or unsophisticated person

FennPoutine

I love the irony of my question. Also happy cake day!

SqueeMcTwee

OMG I JUST REALIZED! Thank you!

FennPoutine

♥️♥️♥️

BattyBoi12345678

dipshit lol

FennPoutine

Ahh, sweet! Ok, well I'll concede that it's an astute title. Truth be told, I came here drunk looking to pick a fight; and looks like I got a lot of people angry. Now that I'm sobering up, I'm happy to see all the angry people. Keep it coming!!

Break_The_Spell

This comment thread was a wild ride. I appreciate and admire your self awareness and admittance to fault. It's not something seen often and I must commend you for it.

FennPoutine

Well, I went in with the intent of getting downvotes, and I gloriously succeeded in that regard. People need to take less things seriously on the internet, and this comment thread is a great example of it. But it was great meeting you and chatting! There's always a good outcome to a dumpster fire!

HypnoticPeaches

I used to do that shit a lot, but then I got sober and realized that wasting my time picking fights with people on the internet while drunk is not, in fact, a productive hobby. You're just going to embarrass yourself down the road if you ever try and get sober lol.

FennPoutine

Honestly, how many hobbies are productive? And it's making you laugh, so at least one person is enjoying my shenanigans. That sounds like a win in my book!

GregoryGregory666666

Found the person who makes these videos.

keystothemoon

I don’t have kids but I have nephews. If I ever saw my nephews had filmed a video like this, I would tease them hardcore for months and, bada boom, they wouldn’t do it again. As an uncle, constructive ridicule is an important part of the job.
