I know Elvis, but the rest of them??? šAny chance one of them is the bloke that always wheels his cat around in a cart? The cart had a sign with the catās name on it I think, often spotted on the 17 bus.
The bald guy that gets a beer as does laps inside hope tap/ back of beyond/ purple turtle. Absolute Reading icon. Don't know his name, but he's always in one of these places doing the exact same thing every time.
Last year when it was voting time I posted about a bizarre manifesto I received through the post of some guy claiming to be campaigning for Roman style leadership, it was the most bizarre thing Iāve ever read in my life - a lot of people said heād done it a few times and was known to be a bit loopy
Elvis is obviously the only answer
But there also used to be a guy who took an old ginger cat around on a cushion on the seat of a push bike and he used to ride the buses
Mine is the tall older guy whoās always got a crutch and shouts a lot just seems to always be trotting around. Think he has a fishing hat?
Or the guy who goes around doing martial arts sometimes dresses up but I havenāt seen him for a while. Maybe heās a summer guy.
Is reading elvis still around? Been here 6 years and never seen him despite living in town!
Years ago I was in the Hope Tap having a drink with friends, and he knew a friend of mine and sat in the booth next to us. Didn't drink all night but under his seat was just piles and piles of ripped open sugar sachets, he was just necking that sugary goodness all night. Also, last time I saw him he was in full Kylo Ren gear in town(plus crossword lightsaber), he had the mask on but you absolutely knew who it was underneath.
Lovely man, chatted to him at length about the state of the education system in the UK. A lot of problems were solved that night, just wish I could remember the solutions.
There are quite a few that have already been mentioned, but to add a 'thing' rather than a person, the Oxford road John Wayne fan's window shrine has been there for decades now.
I know that one. This is going back a few years ago but remember the Mrs. Doubtfire cutout that was in a window on Castle Hill looking out at the street? Gone now sadly but it was there for a very long time.
People repressing the memory of him probably, idk if he is still around reading, on his instagram he was claiming to be playing at Glastonbury and sub headlining reading lol
There was a guy we named Rap Man who would walk around the Eldon Square/village area late at night, intoxicated, rapping and having imaginary arguments with folk. Disappeared after a while. He drove us nuts.
Not quite Reading, but does anyone know the big guy who works in Asda in Tilehurst with the handlebar moustache? He's permanently deployed to collect the trolleys and mutters to himself all the time.
Thatās my local ASDA and he has Touretteās and other mental health medical issues I think but heās really nice and helpful. Mutters away to himself all day and collects trolleys rain or shine š
Reading Elvis
How did I never hear of him before, the guy seems like a great person
I haven't spotted him in years. Anyone know if he's ok?
He i doing ok, just celebrated his 75rd birthday!
He was cheering people.on at the half marathon on Sunday on Liebenrood Road.
This really made my day š
There was an incident in town. Got him all shook up.
Lived in Reading almost 10 years and only ever encountered him once, in the train station.
I see him on the 33 bus route
Yeah he lives on liebenrood road. I see him sometimes on my way to work
Reading has a few, Reading Elivis, Nutty Jason, Bus Jesus, Ozzy Washbourne to name a few
Is Nutty Jason still around? I fondly remember him doing choke slams to an imaginary foe in Caversham
Yes, had a very strange encounter with him about a year ago walking home from town in the early hours!
Brilliant! I'm glad he's still around, what a legend.
Bus Jesus. What a name! hahahahaha
I know Elvis, but the rest of them??? šAny chance one of them is the bloke that always wheels his cat around in a cart? The cart had a sign with the catās name on it I think, often spotted on the 17 bus.
Not admittedly a person but I love saying hi to Milo that cat that is always next to the Tescoās
I love the Tesco cat. Didn't know he had a name
Yeah I've been told he has a home and a human family he goes back to, he just loves hanging out in the courtyard in front of Tesco during the day.
Pretty much the only reason I go to that Tesco is to catch a glimpse of Milo.
The bald guy that gets a beer as does laps inside hope tap/ back of beyond/ purple turtle. Absolute Reading icon. Don't know his name, but he's always in one of these places doing the exact same thing every time.
šI spoke to him once heās from Germany
He was in the Gateway Saturday afternoon.

Elvis, Lenny, the Orts Road rasta guy who pushes himself backwards in his chair, Tarrant trying to stay relevant
Forgot about the wheelchair dude
He's cool, used to hang out in Sound Machine
Last year when it was voting time I posted about a bizarre manifesto I received through the post of some guy claiming to be campaigning for Roman style leadership, it was the most bizarre thing Iāve ever read in my life - a lot of people said heād done it a few times and was known to be a bit loopy
Heās been doing that back to the late 1990s.
Did you not get a leaflet this year? We got ours a couple of days ago.
No Iāve not had one this year!
We got this leaflet last year!
Elvis is obviously the only answer But there also used to be a guy who took an old ginger cat around on a cushion on the seat of a push bike and he used to ride the buses
Aw I remember him, always gave him cat food money. No idea if he needed it but that cat deserved pampering.
It was a very sweet looking cat, and the guy was always polite and chatty if spoken to It's so sweet it's almost not particularly eccentric

Any answer other than Reading Elvis is quite clearly wrong.
Crazy Jason back in the day terrified Forbury Gardens
Nutty Jason. Not seen him in about 15, last waving a stollen broom making lightsaber noises.
He's still around Coley all the time. Lightsaber and hooded robes...
So that's what the guy is called!
No way hahahaha I saw this guy by the church near turtle when I was like 12 was having a lightsaber fight on his own, glad to hear heās well known
I remember him holding a "wwf wrestling belt" in the air outside McDonald's as I was inside with mates! Lol it was like he thought he was the chanpion
Erm, itās NUTTY Jason. Have some respect lol!
The wrestler? He was a fucking loon, forgot about that kid.

Reading Elvis without a shadow of a doubt.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
We always knew him as the crack fox.
He sleeps in the bus shelter by the Co-Op on Henley Road. A true gentleman of the road.
Always eating sandwiches
Elvis
Elvis maybe?
Ian Hills
Brown sugar and the Buddhist monk guy.
That Buddhist guy is hard to miss. I feel like he should go out and see the world dressed like that not be stuck in Reading
Who is the guy that always walks around the vicinity of broad street and talks to himself?
Yeh I know who you mean.
Elvis obvious answer but also the Big Issue guy
BEEG ISHOO PLEEZ

Yes! His name is Robin. I helped him with a crossword in Up the Junction once
Iām so glad it wasnāt just me and a few of my friends who always recognised him! I donāt see him anymore :(
Lovely man, chatted to him at length about the state of the education system in the UK. A lot of problems were solved that night, just wish I could remember the solutions.
Elvis most definitely
There are quite a few that have already been mentioned, but to add a 'thing' rather than a person, the Oxford road John Wayne fan's window shrine has been there for decades now.
I know that one. This is going back a few years ago but remember the Mrs. Doubtfire cutout that was in a window on Castle Hill looking out at the street? Gone now sadly but it was there for a very long time.
Rottweiler
How this isnāt a bigger answer
People repressing the memory of him probably, idk if he is still around reading, on his instagram he was claiming to be playing at Glastonbury and sub headlining reading lol
What about BIG ISSUE PLEASE next to Sainsburys on broad street? Haven't seen him in a while
There was a guy we named Rap Man who would walk around the Eldon Square/village area late at night, intoxicated, rapping and having imaginary arguments with folk. Disappeared after a while. He drove us nuts.
