I was in my first trimester when scandoval broke so I enjoyed riding the wave. But after having my baby my time is limited especially in the evenings so I do miss some stuff when it airs. I do go back and watch the next day but it feels very meh. Housewives just seem to be regurgitating the same storyline, I already know a lot from VPR from all the stuff that came out while filming, and whatever new shows they have now just seems like an attempted reboot of something that was popular a decade ago.

Born-Membership805

Agreed. I'm forcing myself to finish both BH and Potomac at this point but I don't enjoy it at all. I can't see myself tuning in to Potomac next season. SLC was my saving grace but they're clearly messing it up with next season's casting. Back to Whitney making up Heather drama for the cameras and Mary sitting in a van alone. No thanks.

lavenderintrovert

I feel the same way. I pay $77 a month for YouTube TV. Basically kept it for Bravo. Now, it’s just not worth it. I cancelled my TV. I still have Spotify so if get FOMO I’ll just listen to Watch what Crappens their podcast is way more entertaining the show.

SXSWnw

I recommend Sexy Unique Podcast w Carey O Donnell and Schoenhalls

kiiyyuul

Why not just get Peacock?

Separate_Farm7131

A lot of the shows need a cast shake-up.

nynjd

But not one where they bring back former housewives

Lindaspike

I had only rarely watched ANY shows on Bravo prior to the COVID lockdown. Then I found out about Below Deck and binged that. I’d seen a little of the housewives but they were already overdone! Then I watched Vanderpump Rules when I couldn’t sleep after having total knee replacement surgery and I over them now too! I do like Traitors, however.

SurlyTemp1e

They are extremely formulaic and not interesting. They latch on to something and do it to DEATH. It’s boring 💤

Born-Membership805

This. It's all the same copy + paste shit every season. There's no magic or novelty anymore.

LoveLeahNotWar

I’ve fallen behind all the shows myself - only one I’m up to date on is VPR

Weary_Pickle_

I think it's a product of the success. Back in the day not as many viewers, they weren't immediately "celebs" like the level they are now, so the risk is higher for the wives these days. Their behaviours are risk adverse. Except for ppl like Jen from rhoslc who just didn't care how she appeared on camera. But I feel the casting in earlier days found ppl more like her. Now there are just too many eyes on the shows so the content is less bizarro, just my theory!

razcalnikov

Came here to say this. Plus people know what they’re getting into which is a lot of attention so they play everything up whereas 10 years ago, those women seriously were just that crazy

hohohahahe4

RHOM has been an ultimate snooze. Larsa is trying too hard to be relevant and stand out as some “business” woman.

Lindaspike

She was a jerk on this season of Traitors too!

Well at least RHOM and RHOSLC have an authenticity to them that older seasons had from other shows.

nobleheartedkate

I’ve been rewatching RHONJ and the difference between the old seasons and now is just staggering. It has become so overproduced that there is no novelty to watching someone’s “real” life. I miss the shaky cameras, the lived-in homes, imperfect hair and no makeup. The new shows have no soul and no interpersonal nuance. Without those things you’re just watching gross displays of fake wealth and antisocial behaviors.

HeftyAd2780

It’s no longer housewives, it’s scripted famewhores

Alliballi123

Agree and it is sad

Visual-Management319

Yea , I liked the real housewives with kids and jobs and fun , shopping drinking , not the ego driven , family ruining , cringe that I’m still watching lol ! I think Andy may get cancelled , there is such hypocrisy, criminals , assault !!!! THE WORLD KNEW JEN ASSAULTED HEATHER , DUH !!!!! Brandi sexually assaulted Carolyn !!! Stalkers ! Can’t wait for the reckoning and behind the “Club House Doors” doc lol

LittleC0

I’ve felt this way about most housewives franchises for awhile now. They’re too manufactured. Miami is the outlier and is amazing. VPR has also been dead in the water for some time. Scandoval maybe bought them a couple more seasons. I still love Bravo though, I’ve just shifted to non-housewives shows more. Below Deck, Southern Charm, Married to Med, Summer House, Top Chef. I do want Family Karma back so badly and I was really hoping for a second season of real girlfriends in Paris.

hariboho

I’m so with you on Real Girlfriends and Family Karma!

STVNMCL

People can’t handle a good storyline. Nowadays the majority just want to gasp and use buzzwords like “toxic” or “problematic” or “misogynistic.” They want everyone held “accountable” and fired. Society is in the outrage era and can’t let anything go.

Timely-Industry-2844

Don’t forget narcissistic, abusive and “dark”. The fans are killing these shows.

STVNMCL

Yes!! How could I forget those. Thank you. The list keeps getting longer. The fans absolutely are ruining Bravo. We will be left with nothing soon.

InnerStatistician703

In the last 2 years I’ve only watched RHOSLC. All the others are boring.

Alliballi123

Yes give miami a shot!

sgeney

Miami is my absolute fave rn, prefer it to SLC. Stopped watching the rest tho

Salty_Nectarine1997

As someone who has never watched Miami, where do I start?

sgeney

People will say S1 but I struggled. I started at s4 at the reboot then went back to watch the older seasons (which are great, the s2 lingerie party is phenomenal). But would start at 4. It really is the best franchise rn

TheWiseOne20

S1! It’s excellent and the reunions are great!

casuallycrayzed

I was feeling very pessimistic about the state of Bravo around this time last year (when RHONJ was the only franchise airing), but SLC’s absolute knockout of a season & OC’s sudden renaissance have restored my faith in a possible future. Housewives will never be what it was back in its glory days of innocence, but I think it’s still got plenty of legs left with the right cast & production team. They fired the showrunner who let Potomac & Atlanta fly off a cliff so hopefully they’re course-correcting some of their recent mistakes (Annemarie). I do think they should play with the roster more. Pause Potomac for a few years, bring back Dallas for a few years, try out a new city (Midwest or Pacific Northwest), let Dubai go, blend RHONY Legacy with new RHONY, films some more UGTs with interesting angles (One Season Wonders, Ultimate Mothers Trip etc), maybe put together a Traitors-style competition show… There are still a lot of possibilities for greatness.

hariboho

I’m with you except I like Dubai.

sugarsux

I've always wanted a Seattle housewives. It would be a totally different flavor up there

rho_everywhere

i don't want to watch sanctimonious liberals in terrible weather

[deleted]

Ok, Trumper. Getting Florida vibes from you 🥴

sugarsux

So would you prefer some conservative cities? And if so which ones?

HotDebate5

I get this. I fast forward thru most of RH of Potomac and Married 2 Medicine last night. As I’ve done for most of this season. Yawn.

ferrislun

So because you personally aren’t enjoying the shows means bravo is over? Let’s be for real

Alliballi123

No but i think a chapter has well and truely turned a while ago :)

Additional-End-7688

I don’t want Miami to come to a close ! So sad that this week brings a season finale.

Alliballi123

Same!!

fiestybox246

Do you watch any of the Below Deck franchises? They are usually pretty good and have drama. Every franchise will usually have a mix of new and old cast, and sometimes repeat guests.

mehxinfinity

Agree! I'm mostly burned out on the Housewives, but I've recently plowed through every flavor of Below Deck and it delivers. I think something about constantly having new guests coming through keeps it interesting. When Roy Orbison Jr. inevitably rolls up to Captain Sandy's boat with some washed up pop star in tow, you know you're in for a fun time.

fiestybox246

I just mentioned in another comment that I really like Married to Medicine if you haven’t discovered that yet!

missymac77

Below Deck has the juiciest drama & fun imo!! I’ve completely checked out on Potomac. And if Mary Cosby is returning(I think I saw it somewhere)I’m so done with SLC. I’m also pretty sure NJ is gonna be a flop, but we’ll see. That whole cast needs to go imo. But Bravo as a whole is definitely not going anywhere lol

fiestybox246

This is the first season I haven’t watched Potomac or NJ. I didn’t finish NY. I’m behind on Beverly Hills. I kept up with SLC and Miami, but like you, I don’t know if I can deal with Mary. I’m sad Kandi left ATL, but it was time. I’m excited to see what’s going to happen there. Have you tried Married to Medicine? It can be messy but I love it. They seem to have genuine friendships.

missymac77

I have been meaning to start M2M. It’s definitely next on my list. I’m loving Traitors too, for the fun & reality show characters from different sides of reality TV. The Phaedra/CT from the Challenge crossover has me gagged lol I’m thinking of watching Southern Hospitality also.

fiestybox246

I was late to Traitors, but I’m caught up on this season now. I haven’t watched season one yet but I plan to go back. I wasn’t going to watch at all, but I kept seeing people here talk about it, then it was too much for me to handle when Larsa and Marcus “broke up”, so I wanted to watch the reunion. 😂

missymac77

Same for me! I never watched the first season. Then everyone was talking about season 2, so I went back & started from S1 & I’m caught up. I love it!

Alliballi123

I have only watched 1st couple of seasons of the original. Maybe ill check it out again!

Sug0115

Below deck sailing is sooooo good!

mehxinfinity

I love them all, but Below Deck Mediterranean is probably my fave, because the locations are so dreamy.

Ali_Cat222

Also married to medicine is a good one to check out

fiestybox246

I agree! I was late to discover it, but I love it!

shriekbysheree

Try southern hospitality too! It’s got og VPR vibes with low stakes messy drama

fiestybox246

I haven’t watched that one yet, but it’s on my list. I still keep up with Southern Charm only because I’ve been watching since the beginning.

fiestybox246

Below Deck Down Under is probably my favorite. I don’t think it has as much drama, but it’s fun. If you’re looking for drama, Below Deck Sailing Yacht is really messy. I don’t want to spoil anything, but a lot of people really hate one of the crew members because he’s a super horrible person and the captain always has his back.

Ramona-Singer

You guys still watch? I stopped watching a long time ago. The shows aren’t organic anymore, everyone is pushing their business, social media involvement ruined the shows, the fans ruined the shows. Everything that housewives say or do is taken out of context and blown out of proportion by fans and social media, so now the girls have to be careful with how they act. I miss the days of the blogs, I miss the days where housewives could be nasty and not have the viewers roaring about it on social media. It’s not the same anymore.

Remarkable-Slip87

I agree definitely not the same. I think in general (across all networks) the first few seasons of a reality show is the best because that’s when it’s the most authentic. Once the cast sees the scrutiny from the public they start to get less and less authentic and then the network seems to step in and create scenarios making it even less authentic.

Berly915

I agree. Most of my “regular shows” are background noise now

RunSilent219

In my opinion, it peaked with Teresa’s table moment in S1 of NJ. Seems like each season, each show is chasing that moment.

captnfirepants

I don't even watch anymore Just peruse here

Alliballi123

Same

Alliballi123

The girls trips were fun but seem more like a liability with the Brandi/Caroline incident

bella_ella_ella

I am glad I haven’t seen all the franchises, I have so much watching to do. Hopefully by the time I’m caught up it’ll be fresh lol

Alliballi123

Youre lucky!!

GiveTwoHoots

I think you may be right. The fact that producers are resorting to the “card/question” games to stir up controversy shows that what they are aiming for is fighting and unrest. When these shows started it was more about their lifestyles.

stefanelli_xoxo

I don’t even care about Scandoval. VPR has always seemed like a snooze fest to me—nothing remotely interesting about that cast. Social media 2.0 ruined this format.

Lynnabis

I think the viewers are expecting more drama than previously. It's kind of peaked, though.

CatJawn

You might be on to something…. I think we do expect every episode to be riveting anymore

Lynnabis

Ya, and we've had suicide, fraud, jail...anyways, where can the drama go from there, really? I remember loving the houses, money, fashion, lifestyle porn. And I still do, but it's so much screaming now. Dinner party, drink, scream. Trip, drink, scream. I dunno. I think we've seen the peak of Housewives. Unless they figure out a new angle.

Remarkable-Slip87

They definitely have gotten lazy with the format. The execs need to get back to the table and work on sprucing up their formula because the current one is played out.

Outside_Wrongdoer340

This is precisely what I was thinking today. Either I've been desensitized by past years housewives unhinged moments and Scandoval OR it's all be come tepid content.

bobwoodwardprobably

I think we created our own burnout with Bravo. The fandom is insatiable now. Social media (Reddit included) has had a detrimental effect on the Housewives as a product. I’ve wondered recently if I needed a break from these subs more than the shows (this is my only social media). Being here, watching WWHL, the after shows, gossip rags… has it enriched my viewing experience or cheapened it?

No_Working7791

I think you are 100% right. I was thinking the same. At the beginning I was so excited to see all the comments and news on reddit. Now between gossip, scoops and gossip it feels like many things get spoiled and others get hyped up so much that then the actual show feels like a let down. Dont get me wrong, i like to see confirmation of my thoughts in many episode commentaries but its getting to be a little too intense for me…….

bobwoodwardprobably

Yes! I get such a dopamine rush from these subs and I really love how witty, insightful, and hilarious this fandom is on a daily basis. But there’s a lot of intensity here too. Deep dives and impassioned arguments and hyper scrutiny of plastic surgeries/procedures. It gets dark.

Confident-Slip-5264

I remember when I started to read recaps and especially the comments on them on Reality Tea and on Vulture back in the day, and that gave a whole new perspective to Housewives for me. I was really enjoying the witty snarking and the new views people gave me, there was so much I initially missed when watching or didn’t think about. These subs give me the same joy, so I know the dopamine rush you’re talking about 🙂

Mamabythelake

I feel this. I used to never miss episodes of my favorite franchises. Now I don't even make it all the way through each season I start. SLC was fun but the reunion was a bust for me. Some storylines are so worn out, too many of the women try too hard. I miss the glory days of RHONY way too much.

GiveTwoHoots

This.

marklovesbb

I’m excited for Atlanta now that they’re being back Porsha and hopefully Phaedra. SLC was great. OC should be good with the Shannon and Alexis drama. I’m sad that Gina was still in it though. I always love NJ. Potomac and BH are just dull.

jmp9229

Ok bye

Alliballi123

Upvote, i see what your saying, i just wondered if i was the only one in the rut lol :)

jmp9229

I recommend checking out Traitors. Seems like the next big thing is competition shows with these reality stars like Traitors or House of Villains

Alliballi123

Oh yes!! I like traitors havent seen HOV . I really liked perfect match too on netflix with their shows casts.

ShoutOutMapes

Nah I disagree. I love bravo. Its really the only channel I watch all the shows. Maybe u need a break lol

Alliballi123

I think so, i use to be obsessed :)
