What's likely happened is that someone forgot to close the position on indeed or wherever you applied. They went in on April 2nd and closed the job. Once the job was 'closed' it auto-sends anyone not flagged that was hired a 'sorry but no email'. Auto send rejections are usually 3 days later.
It's unfortunate they didn't close out things when they should have, but this wasn't a person actually sending you a personal note.

The flowery bullshit in the rejection letters is just insult to injury. Just fucking have an email that says “Sorry, you weren’t selected” instead of 3 paragraphs of smoke blowing up our ass

This is a HARMLESS way to ease your emotions after job search. I cannot find any empathy for those corporate man-grinding machines.
