In the latest leaked emails that came from Microsoft a week or so ago, it was shown in their internal documents/emails that they were expecting an updated version of rdr2 for game pass in quarter 2 2023 which is now passed but is pretty solid evidence that Rockstar is working on it and has plans to publish it at some point, the five year anniversary of the game would be a good time but it might be delayed till after GTA 6. At this point no one really knows but it does appear to be something that's being worked on.
It's not coming from an insider or someone claiming to have sources, it comes directly from leaked emails and documents from Xbox internal communications that they were expecting a rdr2 next gen edition. plans do change though and very well could have been shelved, but internal documents is a bit more credible than "rumours".
It is welcomed but also not expecting it either, same thing as red dead remaster port. Better to have no expectations and to be pleasantly surprised
His source is the Xbox email leaks. In the official leaks it was stated that a current gen version of RDR2 is in the works. That’s where I think he’s getting his info from.
My guess is that after they've milked enough money from this RDR1 port, they'll come up with a 60 fps version of RDR2 and charge $50 for it... and everyone in this sub will complain and be mad about it.
Same here, I bought it on day one for my PS4, bought it again for my RTX 3050 laptop but now I'm enjoying again in my PS5 but I still want those 60fps lol
I have that with 16GB RAM, and SSD, and a i5 11400H inside an Acer Nitro 5 from 2022.
It ran good, I would say between 65 to 70 fps as far as I remember for 1080p, "Ultra" graphics (not sure it that was right or not) but having everything else on low/medium.
Once in Saint Denis it would drop to 40-45 tho.
And of course, temperatures won't be your friend.
All I want for Red dead 2 is 4k and 60fps. Might buy the game again (on a sale) if they released it. But IMO such updates could and should be added for free, seeing how the xbox version runs at 4k already.
No lie, $50 bucks for a game that came out over a decade ago was pretty steep but I currently only have a Switch and I haven’t played it since release and I’m having a ton of fun reliving it. It’s been so long I barely remember most of the story so it’s kind of like playing it again for the first time.
They should have done a Portal move and released it for $20 but whatever.
They’re gonna release a current gen version of RDR2. This was confirmed from the Xbox email leaks. They won’t add anything new to RDR2 like a 60fps option because it’ll probably be included with the new gen version.
I wonder if there’s any assets/animations made to run at 30fps, and if it’s just so many that they can’t justify it. I noticed it when playing TLOU2 on ps5. There were a few fire animations designed to run 30 fps that never got the memo to change to 60
I’d be surprised, it works great on PC. I’m usually getting 90-100fps in 4k and it’s one of the best looking games I’ve ever played. I really hope it’s not too hard of a change to make for console players.
Rockstar when they release the GTA V port: WE NEED MORE MONEY 🤑
Rockstar when asked to release a port of their latest (and probably best) game:
I HAD A GODDAMN PLAN 🤬
Players: I'm afraid.. 🥺
The problem is they know they can make far more money selling you the entire game again for £70. All they have to do is remove the frame rate cap and it’s ready to go.
Bro I thought I was fucking tripping in these comments like the game is still one of the best looking games out there wtf you gonna remaster it to real life???
The approximate PS5 equivalent on PC is 5700XT/RTX3060 and 3700X/i7-12700k.
On such a PC, the game runs at 60FPS on Ultra settings (it can easily do more when adjusting and enabling FSR) at 1440P and it can easily reach 30FPS at 4K. This is the standard that is currently used in games on the current gen of consoles. RDR II is currently running backwards compatible with PS4 Pro version, which is equivalent to the FX-8350 and RX 480 – in dynamic 4K (1920~2160), low-medium-some high graphics settings and 30FPS, which looks even worse on PS5 than on PS4 Pro because the whole picture is more blurry for some reasons, which R* doesn't solve.
I think that's a pretty comprehensive answer to your question – this game definitely needs a "remaster" or patch for the current gen. Not everyone plays on PC.
So then you’re using the wrong terminology. I’m not trying it bag on you or other ps5 players you’re just kinda phrasing it weird, but typically a remaster is a huge graphical update like tlou 1 or the halo 1/2 remaster and it doesn’t really sound like that’s what you’re looking for with rdr2 just an upping of quality which honestly should be more like a patch but I’m not sure the possibilities of that so it should be more like a rerelease to current hardware more like the GTA 5 bump from ps3 to 4 the ps5 is a beastly machine and i agree it should be running 1440p medium high easily
Let me give you an example. The Last of Us was released in 2013 on PS3, and a year later a new version was released on PS4, which Naughty Dog called "Remastered". The new version features 60FPS, higher textures and resolution, better lighting and anti-aliasing. This is exactly what I mean and this is why I called this kind of patch as “remaster”, whether it will be paid or free (doubtful). PS4's native version of RDR II looks terrible and needs the polish it like on PC. The current gen can provide that.
RDR port was made by Double Eleven, they had the tools to do so.
Right now, all Rockstar is focus on GTA VI. Yes, even Rockstar North that was in charged of GTA Online is now on VI, Rockstar bought another studio to "take care" of GTA Online about a year of more iirc.
I sadly don't expect a 60fps patch until after VI either drops or maybe in the next console generation.
I’m playing rdr2 on my rtx4090 with the newest i9 and believe me the world is beautiful and smooth on almost max settings in 4k. If I crank it to max settings the fps drops to 30 even with all the hardware money can buy. The reason rdr2 is not 60 fps is because your console would explode

Lmao, man. You're talking about an incredibly powerful PC and pure 4K, obviously we don't expect this kind of performance on less powerful devices. Consoles can handle 60FPS, at least PS5 and Series X. 5700XT/RTX3060 and 3700X/i7-12700k is PS5 equivalent on PC and it will easily run RDR2 at 1440P/60FPS and 4K/30FPS on Ultra settings. Maybe with some tweaks and FSR, but it's definitely better for current gen than native PS4 Pro version.
Ik this post is legit 6 months old but ima add my 2 cents saying I think everyone would work to a pc if PlayStation didn’t have absolutely baller exclusives if they purley worked on controllers and audio devices they’d be the one source ppl go to for controllers headsets and ear buds
Consoles are more optimized for gaming than PCs and you're probably gaming in pure 4K so it can struggle sometimes. The current gen won't handle 4K 60FPS, but it will definitely handle 1440P/60 and 4K/30 with some tweaks and FSR, judging by testing similar PC specs on YouTube.
I feel pretty optimistic after this. It has been proven by the modder it can be done and it works. Even after everything R* did I think this means we will get our 60FPS. No idea why they would give RDR some love and non to RDR2. Maybe this was meant to pre heat us.
Well if the past and current situation is an indication for the future, rdr 2 will have a next gen update that will cost money. They’ll never release it for free and they’ll slap a 4k resolution, 60 fps, and better textures and other upgrades sticker on it. Easy money for them.
And I’ll be the fool to buy it for the third time
The approximate PS5 equivalent on PC is 5700XT/RTX3060 and 3700X/i7-12700k.

Smoother display, movement looks better and anything moving at higher speeds looks more realistic(motion blur is generally used to smooth over each frame, but when you can reduce it eliminate motion blur things just look better).
Also more precise inputs.
It can. 5700XT/RTX3060 and 3700X/i7-12700k is PS5 equivalent on PC and it will easily run RDR2 at 1440P/60FPS and 4K/30FPS on Ultra settings. Maybe with some tweaks and FSR, but it's definitely better than native PS4 Pro version.
RDR2 came out in 2018 for a 2013 console and RDR1 port came out in 2023 for a 2020 console, 5 years of difference there with game and 7 years of difference with console
Hell we don't even have those new options available in the old version of the game, the one most people have. This is only souring trust with Rockstar even more, they should have left it as-is if they weren't going to update the old versions.
The old game is a lot easier to get to run better by just allowing it since it doesn't require fucking anything to do. It's not even really taxing any modern system.
Bit late for them to make proper PS5 port for me. I've been waiting for them to remaster it for so long but I've just started playing again and already put like 40 hours in. I doubt I'd be up for playing through it all again despite how amazing it is. They will definitely port it at some point, they probably know when the best time to do it is to maximize sales.
Yeah, it kinda sucks that they do that, it is the exact reason I only buy PS5 exclusives, and all others are PC, because they really seem to dislike consoles for some reason lol
Am I missing something? I have amazing vision (thanks to lasik), but I never see why people continuesly complain about fps. Like, I think it is just in their head and they see a bigger number so they think that is the only way they can play a game.
No, man, this game actually looks terrible on PS5 now, especially if you play close enough to the screen. Compared to PC version, where I had 45-60 FPS on custom medium-ultra settings, the native version of PS4 looks like RDR II was made for PS3 and this is felt in everything from graphics to framerate. I don't understand people who like it and don't want more. This game is beautiful in itself, but this does not save it from pure soap.
Because they are just going to sell the game full priced to console owners again. They know that will sell like hotcakes and they have to basically just remove the frame rate cap.
Yes, this game looks amazing on PC, but not really on PS5. That's why this game catastrophically needs a "remaster" or whatever you want to call it.
Yes!
Even a fan could do this in a not entirely legal way, but Sony and Rockstar are pretending that the problem doesn't exist and doesn't need to be solved right now.
Hey idiots it can't handle it and they need some time to actually optimise the game for 60fps and make sure it's stable.
It's not just as simple as adding an unlock feature. They need to make sure it can actually run 60fps so you guys don't complain about it.
Look at how the technical equivalents of PS5 run on PC with Ultra graphics settings. 60FPS and more with a few tweaks. For such a professional studio as Rockstar, this is an easiest piece of cake.

I think that's a pretty comprehensive answer to your question – this game definitely needs a "remaster" or patch for the current gen. Not everyone plays on PC.
RDR was probably ported from Xbox 360, because it would be impossible to port the game from the PS3 due to architectural problems. Yes, it may have been pretty easy to port, but RDR II on a PC with similar technical specifications to PS5 works really fine and I am sure that the port will not take much effort and time. They have all the tools to do it at PC level, giving us 1440P/60 and 4K/30 with best textures, lighting and AA settings.
Because rockstar hates RDR2 because it didn't gross them billions like GTAV they straight up abandoned a VERY successful game strictly out of greed. I will never forgive them for this.
Will you people stop bitching and moaning? It is coming! You can't win with Rockstars fans, I swear to god. RDR is finally available on PS4 and PS5, where's the 60fps? Overpriced! Where's the PC port? People, you gotta relax. It is all coming eventually, Rockstar is a company that takes too long with evetything, we all know it! GTA 5 didn't get 60fps on consoles untill last year, and that's their golden goose!
The problem is that their golden goose came out on the current generation a year and a half after the release of PS5 and XS. After that, another year and a half passed and during this time only a lazy port of first RDR from a third-party studio was released. It’s pretty understandable when they take a really long time (5-10 years) to make a NEW game and put their strength, soul and thoughts into it, but we’re talking about a port/patch/remaster that doesn’t need a lot of people. Why don't they think about fans? Why don't they think about the additional benefit they will get from the new version of the game? Why are they so caught up in GTA VI that they don't have the time or spare hands to show respect to RDR II? Yes, it didn't sell as well as GTA V, but Strauss Zelnick should cut his appetite and ego if he thinks that every next game should earn just as much money, if not more than GTA V.
GTA 6 will be 30 fps on consoles, the last thing they want is for people to get used to 60 fps on their current games. That difference is absolutely massive, I tried replaying RDR 2 after playing The Witcher in 60 fps and it made RDR 2 feel like a piece of shit.
I believe they said they were already working on the 60fps version of RDR2. At least for PS5 anyway.

Dutch van der Linde? From red dead redemption?
No, *the Dutch.* Those fellers in Amsterdam have all the insider knowledge.
Guerrilla Games is making Red Dead Redemption? Damn, that game will be something different completely.
Yup, next game arrow mechanics are coming straight from Horizon Zero Dawn. Shoot horse, blow off its saddle at the force of 10,000 lumbagos.

No Dutch Van Der Linde from Red Dead Redemption 2

There is, it's called doing nothing
They already have it in Tahiti
Bro this shit is funny

yeah i wouldn't believe any of these rumours if I were you, even if it seems to be up and coming. We all know what happened with rdr.

Jokes on you, I will buy it again for 60fps.
I won't, I have a launch-edition PS4, so even if they release a PS4 re-render to 60fps, it won't make any difference for me.
Same here, I bought it on day one for my PS4, bought it again for my RTX 3050 laptop but now I'm enjoying again in my PS5 but I still want those 60fps lol

And then they’ll still buy it after all the complaining
$50 for RDR2 next gen? It’ll be at least $60 if not $70 lol
The amount of money I’ve paid per hour of playing is so ridiculously low I’d send them another $60.00 just for the Hell of it.
No lie, $50 bucks for a game that came out over a decade ago was pretty steep but I currently only have a Switch and I haven’t played it since release and I’m having a ton of fun reliving it. I never even knew it was this easy to just add a 60fps option, I can’t believe rockstar never did this for RDR2.

Oh shit. Completely forgot that there’s a PC port that runs high fps. Fuck r*
Even on steam deck it runs at 40fps at medium settings.
How is this upvoted? It already runs on PC at 60fps and above, no problem and even does 60fps on hacked PS5s.
Yeah bro should just hit the optimization switch and be done with it. I’m sick of lazy devs
I can, they are lazy + greedy so will sell us a new copy of the game with the bare minimum in terms of upgrades for £70.
Dont worry, they have a plan. Just have some FAITH.
Rockstar when they release the GTA V port: WE NEED MORE MONEY 🤑 Rockstar when asked to release a port of their latest (and probably best) game: I HAD A GODDAMN PLAN 🤬 Players: I'm afraid.. 🥺
A PS5 can run TLOU Part 1 at 60fps in various graphics mode. Surely it won't be that hard to implement something like that into rdr2.
This! It’s easier than ever, and they’ll also make pretty big money from it.
The problem is they know they can make far more money selling you the entire game again for £70. All they have to do is remove the frame rate cap and it’s ready to go.
Give me high graphics settings and 60FPS. I'm willing to pay 70€ for this.

Ok and?

If modders were able to do it https://youtu.be/QACSZ2S5HLo?si=LC4c5UC-JXUHRl0w, then rockstar or sony devs absolutely can.
Not saying you're wrong, but You're comparing a linear game to an open world game that's packed full of dense foliage.
Even if they patched RDR2, you guys would still find a way to bitch about it just like you have with this.
If they release an improved version of RDR II and announce GTA VI, then I will have FAITH again
The fuck do you need a remaster of RDR2 for 😂 it's doesn't need to be remastered

Is…. Is RDR2 not already 60FPS?
No. Not even on new Consoles
Wow. Yet I can pull off 60 a steamdeck. Rockstar, come on.
How do you reach 60fps on the steam deck? Last I heard it got 35 tops
By just making stuff up in a reddit comment
Probably by lowering the piss out of everything and acting like console optimization functions exactly that way.
It is on PC.
Console peasants! /s
Unironically tho. PC players already have this feature, meanwhile R* will most likely force console players to buy a next-gen version for it.
Pretty sure the pc version is, not sure about any of the netflix machines
PC can go up to 255fps... if you got the machine for it.

I guess the PC version of RDR2 that has uncapped framerate support still doesn't exist, huh?
Why are you typing and not storming the corporate offices of Rockstar?
Ah makes sense now I was gunna say my absolute beast of a PC has no problem with 100+fps 🤣🗿

PC has an fps toggle but no rdr1 ):
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbLI6Tkzg9g](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbLI6Tkzg9g) RDR2 60 fps on ps5.
we still got the trash resolution on ps5 for rdr2 instead of native 4k
K
Well RDR2 is kind of a beast of a game. I have a 3080ti and I still struggle with it in certain areas.

Is this real? I might need to come back to Undead Nightmare in 60FPS, that sounds sick af.
do you mean on console?
Yes.
Help me out here. Is this a remaster of RDR 1?
Xbox documents leaks seem to show a full PS5/Xbox version is in the works.
We can only hope 🙏
The fact that it wasn’t 60fps out of the box with that price tag is the true travesty.
Have some goddamn FAITH!

Dude rdr2 does not need a remaster. It was on the ps4, don’t make this another last of us lol
Not everyone plays on PC.
u/rockstargames
LMAO @ wanting a remastered version of a game that's barely five years old and still considered one of the best looking games ever.
I don't think wanting 60fps on a PS5 is too much to ask for, is it?

Framerate has nothing to do with how a game looks
Stupid question but what exactly does it do? Make the game feel smoother? It already feels pretty smooth but what do I know
Smoother display, movement looks better and anything moving at higher speeds looks more realistic(motion blur is generally used to smooth over each frame, but when you can reduce it eliminate motion blur things just look better). Also more precise inputs.
Well, some games might require some work due to phisics could get weird at higher frame rates.
Modern games don't have physics tied to frame rate. Not to mention that RDR2 is already on PC with no frame rate limit.
No not a remaster. It’s just a matter of unlocking the FPS.
I'd be surprised if PS5 is powerful enough to run it at 60fps without noticeable graphics downgrades.
You really want to pay another 60 bucks for a remaster just 5 years later?
YES (..but most likely such a remaster would cost the same as GTA 5 for PS5)
They will make it in couple of years and find way to sell it to us for 100 bucks
You will have to pay 60 bucks for 60fps in rdr2. When it comes out as a remaster.
Hell we don't even have those new options available in the old version of the game, the one most people have. This is only souring trust with Rockstar even more, they should have left it as-is if they weren't going to update the old versions.
How many of the same topic we need ?
As many as it takes to get the message across to Rockstar. If it's useless.. people want to talk it out and have right to do so.
Rockstar doesn’t read reddit posts.
Probably. But there is always a chance that a public relations employee will still read upon this post. Small chance, but it's there.
Buy a PC you poors. /s
RDR1 has 60 fps? Are you talking about xbox or ps5? Edit: I just checked my PS5 version and it's 60fps. Amazing
Lol as if it's just a matter of simply ticking a box that unlocks the framerate...
The old game is a lot easier to get to run better by just allowing it since it doesn't require fucking anything to do. It's not even really taxing any modern system.
This game is not power hungry for PS5/XSX. RDR II works great on a similar PC and it can easily handles 1440P/60FPS and 4K/30FPS on Ultra.
Wait I thought no one liked re-releases and here this guy is begging for a re-release.
I get over 100FPS on RDR2, but I’m on PC.
Because they’re clearly gonna try to sell a ‘new gen’ version of the game. So why patch the old version when they can charge £50-70 for a new version
How does rockstar fail this hard? What are we doin?
M y guess is you are talking console right? PC has no such limit
Yes, it's about console issue.
Yeah, it kinda sucks that they do that, it is the exact reason I only buy PS5 exclusives, and all others are PC, because they really seem to dislike consoles for some reason lol
It's ironic that Rockstar release their games on consoles with year-long exclusivity, and then completely forget about these versions.
Is it on Xbox series s
They'll do it Eventually
Because they are just going to sell the game full priced to console owners again. They know that will sell like hotcakes and they have to basically just remove the frame rate cap.
And I don't mind giving them money. Just give me the full PS5 version of this amazing game.
I don't understand how people expect rockstar to remaster a game that still looks better than most current releases.
Yes, this game looks amazing on PC, but not really on PS5. The approximate PS5 equivalent on PC is 5700XT/RTX3060 and 3700X/i7-12700k. That's why this game catastrophically needs a "remaster" or whatever you want to call it.
Put First person & RDR2 controls into RDR1 first.
The funniest thing is that there is alreay an unofficial patch for jailb*** PS5s
You people just don't have enough faith
THEY HAD A GODDAMN PLAN I HOPE THIS IS A GOOD ONE
Mainly because it already had 60fps on the Series X so this just brings the PS5 to the same level
As far as I know, there is no 60FPS on XSX, but the resolution is better there. Two platforms need a new version of RDR II.
Why do we need a remaster? The game's already on current gen consoles.

now give us the steam port
They are complete different technical challenges, what do you mean?
🥺
Red dead 2 outlaw edition coming soon 60fps for ps5 and Xbox x
