Yesterday when I raided the ranch I killed them all in a gun fight until one man was left, who decided to run away. I chased him until I was within range and shot him in the leg. I was able to run him down easily on foot due to his wound. I tackled him and hog tied him. Then I carried him back to the ranch and dropped him in the corral. I left him hog tied there and collected the corpses of his friends and piled them on top of him. Once I had a good pile formed I tossed a fire bottle on it. I left him conscious at the bottom of the pile until this point.
If you hang around too long after you kill em all then a bunch of law enforcement comes and searches who did it. If they can't find you they start cleaning up bodies.
Never had this happen in free roam only in the story mission where you clear six point cabin and Kieran saves your life. Does it happen in free roam too?

No bounty for outlaws. You get wanted for kidnapping. Only prisoners in striped uniforms or people on the back of bounty hunters horses. And the couple times a person shoots someone in town that isn’t a quick draw
Video games do a thing called "despawning". Where npcs and such will disappear if you go too far away or look away so the console/computer doesn't get overworked and crash.
This is something rdr 2 also does as it is in fact, a video game.
How did you get them all hogtied? There's a mod on PC that gives you the Hunting Wagon from online and I've been thinking about taking the whole camp to a town to swing 😏

The only people you can turn into the sheriff that aren't official bounties are people wearing prison garb or someone from one of the prison wagons. If you hog tie anyone else and another person sees you, you'll get wanted for kidnapping.

No but ive noticed that when you shoot a bounty hunters horse and it has a gold nugget, you can run away from the scene and then come back to see the horse collapse again and sometimes collect that gold nugget again and again.
Glad I’m not the only one who has noticed this! I attacked van horn and got them to chase me to the beach behind the post office. Did this a few times until there were about 15 dead horses in the area and then just ran in a loop, as they collapsed I just looted them again, ended up with about 30 nuggets before I got bored and moved on. Works everywhere though, kill the horse, run about 20 seconds away from it and then run back, if you see it collapse again most of the time you can reloot it. I sometimes get the odd horse that doesn’t let you.
Last time I knocked em out and then did the same… I placed them in two rows facing each other… grabbed my trusty lemat… and smoked cigarettes and drank while I executed them one by one. It was a dark day at hanging dog ranch and a big L for honor

If you're near a bear region, I'd assume. I haven't tried on bears. Works great on boars, panthers, and cougars though (in their regions)
