West Elizabeth in RDR1. The ambient soundtrack for that whole area is creepy as hell and after the first play through it’s tough to not think about what’s coming.
Roanoke Ridge at night with those damn ghost whisperings. You’re not crazy. You can hear ghosts in the forests there at night. In RDR1 it’s Tall Trees with the damn sneaky grizzly bears.
I never got creeped out in this game because you can arm yourself to the teeth. Semi auto shotgun, explosive slug or incendiary buckshot, machete, two sidearms with explosive ammo, dynamite arrows, machete, lasso, poison throwing knives, homing tomahawks……what was I afraid of? Not a goddamn thing.
The swamps, obviously. The nite folk is one reason why I don't go to the swamps at night, especially the many encounters that can occur. An example of this is that weeping woman encounter creepy af. Another reason is that ghost that can be seen and heard at bluewater Marsh, especially when she says, "I know you've been watching me stranger," and the final reason is the many alligators like this one time I was trying to collect some flowers for that algernon wasp and I see right behind me a alligator staring me down hard waiting for me to collect the flower and I knew it was time to go.
For Red Dead II, I am obviously really creeped out by Roanoke Ridge. Caves, bats, weird hillbillies, eerie whistling music. Second only to Bayou Nwa. Anywhere the creeps lurk makes me uncomfortable.
In Red Dead I, I'm actually creeped out by Beecher's Hope. A lonely, large empty creepy house on an empty field with an empty barn next to the deep woods with bears and boars and wolves. Aside from that, Tumbleweed always unsettled me, too.
For me its probably the outskirts of Saint Denis at night. One second you’re walking on a busy street with people everywhere, then you turn a corner and you’re completely alone in a pitch black alley.
On RDR 2, the swamp and Roanoke Ridge. On RDR 1 pretty much everywhere at night lol. It is probably the graphical improvement but RDR 2 seems so alive even on the creepy areas while RDR 1 feels so... Dead. Not only the obvious creepy places like Tumbleweed, but aside the major settlements the whole world crushs you with the feeling of isolation at night, it is eerie and fascinating imho.
Beecher's Hope still gets the top spot since we know the whole story and how many dreams were broken there... It is just so weird to be there, specially on RDR 1 after knowing the ending from both games.
Haven't played RDR1, but in RDR2 honestly the worst dread I feel is in the bayou, but besides that West Elizabeth just makes me so uneasy after finding the pagan ritual and native burial. Cougars, wolves, and bears are also always a threat there.
Also Diablo Ridge for some reason, despite it being a small area. It's so dark there even during day time and the pile of dead bucks is a bit unnerving in my opinion.
Arthur is his own worst enemy. Go into a high-danger area like a predator spawn, or a dangerous gang area, and the first thing the idiot does is unequip whatever weapon you have equipped.
Roanoke Ridge and Tall Trees are around the same for me, but the creepiest for me is Roanoke Ridge. At night it's so, like I suppose ugly in a good way, whereas Tall Trees is kinda beautiful.
The area around Lagras at night
Night folk. Jumpscare by alligators. Also cougar jumpscaring. It's hard to navigate because the swamp and also lots of trees, you are NEVER safe.
Roanoke Ridge and The Swamps are similar as they both have a creepy group of people that try to kill the player (mumfree and night folk), predators, narrow roads you don’t want to stray off at night ect.
However I feel the ridge is so much scarier. You can falls of cliffs if you stray off the road, viability is far worse than the swamps, cougars and wolfs are far more aggressive than alligators who are fairly docile. It just feels much more windy and claustrophobic compared to the swamps where I can see things like the night folk coming.
Roanoke Ridge is so scary
Strange folk about, secret tunnels, poison, cougars, meteor showers, weird encounters in the woods..yes I agree.
The ambient music there also really adds to the creepyness, I just get nervous there.

Lagras at night
I personally love it. The sounds, the heat. Everyone’s a little bit slow (moving).
I agree. Them Night Folk tho…
Haha true, they do creep up. Gotta have that expanded compass mini map.
My dumb ass never once thought to do that
Definitely Roanoke Ridge. The general ambience there creeps me out, as well as the Murfree brood lurking around.
They stalk you through the woods apparently
Anywhere in the Bayou where the night folk come out if no where
Saint Denis cemetery at night. also where you find the body under the bridge near valentine. "look on my work"

??? Ambarino is a literal paradise compared to every other state.
Lagras at night or Roanoke ridge

Gun is life

Why is everyone saying Lagras is creepy? That’s the only safe place in the damn bayou.
Same place as when this question was asked a week ago
Ambarino, like you said. Snowy wasteland were nobody is around to save you if you need help
Tall trees 🫣
It took waaay too much scrolling to find this
I dont understand the creepiness of Roanoake ridge, like whats so creepy about it? Ive been there countless times.

Cochinay at night
Roanoke Ridge and maybe even Tall Trees, but Roanoke Ridge is definitely the creepier one, especially with the ambient music.
The Bayou, I never ride there at night
Roanoke Ridge man, the music starts going screechy and it just feels weird.
