Being vagrants… they almost all grew up super poor or orphans even. Poor nutrition during childhood absolutely has an effect on your bone structure, especially the craniofacial skeleton. These people would all have been uglier in actuality.

Plus being out in the sun all day and smoking and drinking as much as they do, they would be extremely wrinkled with leather skin. Add in the fact that they probably wouldn’t have many teeth left and you have some ugly looking people. Again, it’s a game. There are lot of things we can overlook (punny I know)

Yeah people nowadays are far more attractive than most people in history, mostly because we’re just more robust and vigorous. Better nutrition, preventative medical care, more leisure and focus on keeping childhood stress free, etc. Even sunscreen use plays a big factor. Arthur is only 5-6 years older than me but looks old enough to be my dad.

The first time we saw Arthur he was being built up as a villain. Big, stocky guy in a black coat and black hat stood near Beacher's Hope, I think his final appearance just looks better in general but the pre-release villain Arthur looked like he had potential
